Unfortunately due to the person I am I always leave everything to the last minute. Doing back to school shopping two days before school starts is never ideal. On arrival there were long lines to the shop (totally understandable) and I thought I was in for a nightmare experience. This little store truly surprised me. The lines moved very quickly. When I got to the store the guys helping me with the shopping list knew exactly what it was we needed and where to locate it. They were able to provide all the books except one (again understandable due to my procrastination and apparently their wholesaler had a covid incident and had to close temporarily). I was out of there in no time. Their Covid protocols were remarkable and enforced well considering we were a horde of people descending on the store. They were also really affordable which is a relief seeing as back to school shopping is enough to bankrupt us all. Staff were also very friendly, efficient and had excellent product knowledge. I would highly recommend this jewel to any student or parent requiring textbooks. Well done! Super impressed.

Disgusting service. I got there at 4pm. Didn’t realise the store closes at 4. Staff scoffed at me through the tinted windows as if I wouldn’t notice. I called and from outside the store and they laughed it off and didn’t answer the call. After knocking on the door for 10mins, they eventually answered and refused to assist - apprently their store systems shut down automatically at 16h00 promptly. I explained that I’ve come through from the other end of Jhb, but still not interested in going the extra mile. Instead, I was referred to a competitor! I’m amazed that an independent sme would be so blazé in these tough economic times. Im fully aware what operating hours means. But sometimes discretion is a part of the service equation!

Very bad experience at this store. I went to sell old books and buy new books for next grade for my son. The condition of books was excellent however they rejected to take most of the books stating that there is little bit of writing or marking in them. Its almost impossible for kids to not write at all in books, some small marking is acceptable. Out of 12 books they rejected 10 of them and for remaining 2 they offered me only R25 per book which costs 150 for new. I opted not to sell or buy any books here. Bad experience, will never come back to this store. Better to sell and buy books on Facebook marketplace then at this store for better price and service.

Friendly service. Effecient and to the point. What caught me initially by surprise was having to be allowed access into the actual store by means of a security gate. So you can end up waiting in corridor, which is not bad, given that the layout of the actual service area does not allow for lots of people and it makes sense safety wise. Books were reasonable. It is on the first floor, so a wheelchair person would need to find an elevator and I could not remember seeing an easily identifiable one in the center, although I was not looking for one to be honest. Something to be mindful of though.

I absolutely love this little store. They have been around for many years. They are very helpful, efficient and reliable. I have used them for all my years of schooling primary to High school. Until late, my siblings and friends and their siblings and school goers use Ferndale Textbooks. They also provide assistance in buying your old textbooks back provided they have been looked after, not drawn in or damaged and torn. A place I can confidently recommend.

AVOID this place, they do not allow placing of orders, going all the way there twice, the que is always ridiculously long, probably 3 hours wait because each client entering the door takes about 20-30 minutes, I'm sorry this place has poor management, if not they would see the need and improve their service,. I ordered from bookbound online, no ques, and they deliver, that's good service....welcome to the new age, you snooze you loose.

Arrived very early to the shop to find the line was very long, waited 2 hours in line only to find that they don't have the textbooks I needed in stock and wouldn't even let me sell the textbooks I had that were in perfect condition and untouched .... Very bad service... Would not go back

Bad experience… I think you guys must review your return policy, I bought books returned them within 15 days unused and was told they will only take them as second hand books not a refund. They gave me wrong book that not in my text book list and when I returned it they took 10% off..

Very efficient. The experience was quick and pleasant. I was mildly worried at first to see what looked like casuals serving at the front desk but they were surprisingly informed and managed to get the textbooks out in double quick time. A good overall experience.

Look. Service etc was speedy and staff helpful. But the return I got on over R1200 worth of books was R180. If could - rather try sell text books privately. I understand they trying to run a business but was expecting a fair return for almost new text books.

Bit of a small shop, but when you realize how much stock they carry, you understand why. They are a bit pricey but also have a good buy back policy. So it balances out. Sad they don't carry all the lines, but they can't carry everything. So not a bad spot.

It was not great. I called many times to enquire about textbooks but not once did anyone give clear guidelines on how purchasing happens based on textbook editione. The website is vague. In my opinion it was not worth the trouble.

Promises were made, had to wait more than an hour in a queue for the supposedly kept aside books. The books were not kept aside. Why couldn't they just warn me that the days goes like this. 3 Kids in a queue, definitely not fun.

Stock is not guaranteed even after telephonically confirming the product is available. They won't set aside, you cannot even pay online to collect instore. Worse still delivery is pretty expensive at R399 around Joburg.

Been getting our High School Textbooks here. Very busy. Staff very helpful. They buy and sell 2nd hand current textbooks too as long as they're in good condition with no writing or hightlights.
