This is exactly the kind of place I expect to be found in the artsy and boho Wynnwood district of Miami! Even from the outside, Fireman Dereks looks like such a charmer and a must-try place. And the menu has a great variety of options- so many pies flavors, pieces of cake, cheesecake, cookies, bars, and more! And honestly all of it sounds fantastic, and they have some fun and unique flavors as well so it’s not just your typical American treats. I ended up trying the guava coconut rum cake. As I had hoped, it was phenomenal! The guava is such a lovely sweet and tart filling, along with the crunch of the coconut it’s so wonderful. And the rum isn’t super strong so it doesn’t get in the way of the other components which is great. If you get this one, make sure you ask for extra guava drizzle as well, it won’t be the same without it! The key lime pie is decent, it’s not the best KLP I’ve had but it does the job nicely. Lastly, I thought the nutella red velvet was every chocolate lovers dream. The cake was so soft, and having the chocolate in between each layer felt like your mouth was ascended to heaven! As a last note, Fireman Dereks is a small bakery and they do not have any seating, so be ready to just take your dessert on the go, but seriously it’s so worth it!!

I’ve been following this account forever. I was so excited to go try this place with my friend that we made a full day in wynwood for it. Here’s why it’s only 2 stars. 1) the key lime pie wasn’t bad. It was just blah - nothing to talk about. I would’ve been equally as happy buying a key lime pie from the freezer at Publix. In terms of comparison to Houston’s or cecconis, this key lime pie couldn’t compare. 2) the hype for this place and the good reviews make the exceptions higher 3) there were two people in front of us but it took us 10 min to order 4) no knives!!! Lol. How’s that possible. 5) the coconut custard was boring as well. So while this is a 2/5 it’s a 4/10. I wouldn’t return or recommend it. For what you pay per slice, it should be much better. When someone’s establishment is a bake shop and the pies are just mediocre then that’s not great. I would love to see them improving on all points. Blow us away!!

This place is soooo good. Wow. The Cookie Monster Pie is likely sitting in the top #3 best pies I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a lot! Lol It’s exceptional, extremely rich, and perfect for sharing — I could never eat this slice on my own without a coma to follow. I’ve tried a lot of things here, but this pie for sure stands out. The fudge brownie is also incredible if you want to switch it up- one of the better brownies I’ve ever tried. I think the key lime pie is pretty middle of road compared to some other places, so I would suggest skipping that here unless you just really want that. It’s not bad, just not exceptional like some other choices available here. It’s a cool spot, in a cool area, easy parking, and never too long of a line.

This place was so good. Glad we made the walk over. It is a small place with no indoor seating. They are sticking to their covid limit restrictions, so you walk in, and take your order right out. For this reason there is a line outside, but it goes quickly. I went with a group of 5 and we all enjoyed it. We heard so many great things about it, so we had to check it out. We each had a different pie and everyone had great things to say. I tried the s'mores pie and it was delicious! It tasted just as if it came right off the fire when making s'mores. Another in our group had the key lime pie and really loved it. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the area! The coffee was good too!

This place is a must visit just for the variety of fabulous desserts. Cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, and more. The staff was helpful in sorting it out. We took home a piece of key lime pie, salted caramel pie, and a smores brownie. The key lime pie is unique, very smooth and light, but still very sweet. The crust is buttery and great. Speaking of buttery, the salted caramel pie was fantastic. We are so full on the pies, we'll have to update on the brownie. The bakery itself has two small tables and a few spots outside to sit. On the next visit we will have to grab some cake to give that a try as well. I would totally recommend coming here, but pick whatever looks best to you to try out.

If you're looking for a unique and flavorful treat, you have to try these guava cookies! The cookies are soft and chewy with just the right amount of sweetness. The addition of chunks of real guava to the cookie dough gives it a tropical and tangy taste that is both delicious and refreshing. The texture of the guava pieces adds a delightful crunch that makes every bite a delightful experience. Whether you're a fan of guava or simply looking for a new flavor sensation, these cookies are a must-try! The packaging is also adorable and makes a great gift for anyone with a sweet tooth. Overall, I highly recommend these guava cookies and can't wait to try more from this brand!

Staple place in Miami. I have been going to the old Wynwood location quite often. The new Wynwood location is terrific and very spacious. The owner and the staff are super friendly, kind, and positive. I love everything they offer. Really, really, good stuff, both sweet or savory. However, my favorite staple is the Guavaberry Pie with vanilla ice cream — spectacular! Rich in guava and berry and the crust is nice and flaky. Not too sweet, not too sour. The NY Style cheesecake is excellent too! The chicken pot pie is the bomb!!! I mean just great stuff overall, with plenty of creative choices. Reasonable prices. A must-go place for Miami, both tourists, and locals!

A staple of Wynwood. Fireman Derek's shop has been serving the most delicious pies in South Florida long before Wynwood became the blossoming culinary spot it currently is. Over the many years of visiting here, I've tried at least 10 different pies and other baked goods and I've always been impressed with the amazingly unique flavors. From traditional recipes, Fireman Derek's produces extraordinary goods. Cookie monster, red velvet, guava, and key lime are but a few of the can't-go-wrong options I recommend. Last but not least - make sure to try their milkshakes.

Hair found in cheesecake and the rep took it upon himself to throw in garbage the slice of cake after I said I didn’t have an appetite to eat it. Then had the audacity to say he threw it since I said I wouldn’t eat it, and refused to issue a refund or give me back a fresh slice. It became a whole deal for them to give a store credit after the poor customer service experience. It shouldn’t be that complicated to do the right thing. I had to email more than once, and insist in order to get a store credit. The back and forth with rep on that day, with and management after the fact, definitely left a bad taste!

I ordered mini key lime and passion fruit parfaits for my baby shower and they were a huge hit! So delicious and added such a cute look to the dessert table. The ordering and pickup were very fast and easy. Everything was packaged with care. I would highly recommend Catalina’s Bake Shop and I look forward to ordering from them again.

This is a quite a find! Savory and sweet pies to satiate any appetite. They also have other desserts like cakes and bread pudding that are equally delicious. I tried their buffalo mac and cheese pot pie and the chocolate nutter butter pie. I simple couldn't get enough of the dessert. The savory pies are large and can be two meals. I shared the dessert as well and still felt full. It's a great treat and will likely become a bad habit that I enjoy a little too much. Will definitely return.

Fireman Derek's is an outstanding bakery that offers a diverse range of delectable desserts. All of their creamy cheesecakes and savory pies are simply irresistible. Their dedication to quality ingredients and artisanal techniques is evident in every bite. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make for a delightful experience. Don't miss out on the famous Crack Pie or the Key Lime Pie, both are divine! I also recommend their milkshakes. Honestly everything is good! Highly recommended!

  • Vena Si

The managers there are highly rude. One of them yelled at a elderly lady the other day for trying to help another customer she looked so stressed and confused as to why the manager is speaking to her like that as well as she is even more rude with the employee this is unacceptable as a manger your suppose to make sure the franchise is more impacted not having it lose business because your customer service is bad is all.

Hole in the wall spot near Wynwood with very rich cakes and friendly service. There are maybe 2 spots to sit inside with a couple of tables outside. The place is meant to be more grab n go. I'll be back to try the coffee and pastries! Highly recommend: bread pudding, guava and white chocolate cookies, salted caramel pie Some of the cheesecakes are a bit too rich. I couldn't even finish a slice of the cookies and cream and I'm a BIG sweet tooth.

  • Tony Mariucci

Hands down best carrot cake iv ever had in my life. The flavors blend in so well and every bite was so rich. The shop is real small but the line moved quick. The costumer service was very friendly. It was tough to find a spot to eat because the place was so packed but we asked a random table could we join them since they had a couple of extra seats. Everyone in the Wynnwood area seemed very friendly and there is a great vibe from the community.

  • Renee Kar-Johnson

When someone at Fireman Derek’s recommend you a pie flavor, I have learned you ALWAYS TRUST THEM!! They suggested to get the strawberry shortcake, and WOW how can I even describe how happy my taste buds were. When I crave desserts I’m more of a chocolate girl I don’t ever go for the fruity ones. I was skeptical but this, with a little whipped cream = chef kiss. I will be back!!! And this time ready to eat and devour the whole cake :)

  • Emily L

We happened to stumble upon this awesome bakery one day while exploring Miami. We decided to try the Oreo cheesecake and red velvet cake, both of which were absolutely delicious and HUGE. There are so many yummy things to choose from, and you can even make any piece of cake into an ice cream shake! I wish we had time to go back another day to try one of those and so much more. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area!

  • Phil Tatro

Local bakery serving gourmet style pies as well as cookies and cakes. Large portions of cakes and pies, usually large enough to share. This is the new location in Wynwood, with indoor seating, also serving coffee. My only small request would be sturdier plastic utensils, as our fork broke twice when attempting to brake up the pie crust, as the pie slices are served directly from the cooler, making it to firm for my liking.

  • Diane Barrington

I stopped into the location in Coconut Grove. The young man suggested the banana cream pie. It is the best banana cream pie I've ever eaten in my entire life. I actually think it's the best pie I've ever eaten in my life period. I also purchased chocolate chip cookies and the guava and white chocolate cookies and took them home and everyone was raving over them. Please come and open a location in Sarasota.

  • Gourmand

Do you want the best pie in Miami? Then come here. This spot has pies, cheesecakes, cakes, cookies, milkshakes, and ice cream. They are most known for their pies, and it’s very easy to see why. I got their Cookie Monster pie which had cookie dough ingredients with whipped cream. It was so delicious and sweet. We also got chocolate peanut butter pie, ice cream, and a sprinkles cookie. The coke was awesome and so soft.

  • Perfect Yomi

Wow , a dream come true ? Yes!! I found this location through a friend and had to go in person myself and I didn’t know what I was missing out on! I got a chocolate brownie, birthday cake red velvet cake and one of the managers special iced caramel coffee’s . This place was clean and good vibes! The service was top tier ! Lots of smiles and all my questions answered before I could even think of them 10/10 recommend!

  • Anastasya

September 2021 - STILL the best. My favorite place for good cake desserts. New location is awesome. Check them out - you will be happy you did! Just had this for the first time. Absolutely delicious. The cakes were so soft and smooth. Mango rum - amazing. Red velvet - amazing! Birthday surprise - amazing. Definitely will be coming back as they did not disappoint. Staff is friendly and place is clean. Thank you!

  • Orlando Arrom

New manager is rude, disrespectful and she does not care for the business or the customers, a real piece of work. I hope the owner(s) of this business find out how much damage she is causing. Refused service only because we were talking to each other about how she was just talking in the back with other employees while leaving us unattended at the counter. We had been repeat customers but we will never return.

  • Jenni Ayash

The worst piece of cake I have ever had. It tasted frozen and stale at the same time. I had one bite and took it back up to the counter to express that the cake tasted bad. The employee told me “sorry, you could get another piece of cake, but you would have to pay for it.” I’ve never experienced a business model like this before, especially at a place that charges $9 for a piece of nasty cake.

  • Yen Fig

I just tried out the chicken pot pie which was delicious, homemade goodness, creamy, tasteful and sat perfect on my stomach. I also bought the Nutella cheesecake, Brownie bomb pie, and Red velvet pie. All smooth and delicious. Fire- Fiya- fire- Fireman I also tried the s'more cookie which is great with a cold glass of milk. This is a great place to stop by and grab dessert.

  • Nancy

This is the kind of place you go to if you have had a really tough day. Any slice of anything will basically make your pancreas really work hard, but your taste buds will sing in happiness. I especially recommend the Guava Coconut Rum Cake - the cake is moist and the frosting isn't overwhelming. Definitely will have to go to the actual store to try some other flavors sometime

  • Kimberly Schreiber

Omg you MUST go here! There are free samples and everything we tried is delicious from bread pudding to brownies to peanut butter pie! Great way to start or end your trip to Wynwood Walls if you are here on vacation. Employees are very friendly and patient with all the questions. There are a couple of seats inside and some seating outside as well. Highly recommended.

  • Stephanie Brower

While in the area on vacation I had a sweet craving and found this gem online. I originally stopped in for a turtle brownie but after seeing the decadent pies, I couldn’t resist the coconut custard. SO GLAD I stopped in because it was was on the best coconut custard pies I’ve ever had! The service was great. Price was a little high but I’d definitely buy it again!

  • Sandra B.

Is this a slice from heaven?? Wow, best red velvet cake I have tried so far.I had a slice delivered to the house to just to taste. I read the reviews on how good it was and I’m glad I chose to have a slice delivered. My daughter was so happy. We both can’t wait to try other flavors of cake here. I recommend anyone to try it. You won’t regret it! Enjoy

The pie was tarty and sweet, cake was moist and flavourful everything was in harmony, check this place out you wont regret it thank you Derek. …

I have a total soft spot for bread pudding, and this place makes it spectacular. Fireman Derek's has a great reputation for making excellent desserts and for me has always met or exceeded expectations. I had their bread pudding covered in guava and what seems to be a cream cheese drizzle. I also had their red velvet cake. Both are excellent.

  • Elizabeth Hadden

This is the perfect destination for some of the best desserts in Miami. Pies, cakes, cookies, brownies, and even milkshakes! They also offer their pies and cakes by the slice, making it easy to grab a bite of your favorite flavors. Everything from Fireman Derek’s is delicious, including their savory options like their pot pies.

  • samantha griffiths

Ok Fireman Derek's Bake Shop has the MOST amazing pie! The banana tres leches pie is incredible and I dont even like tres leches. Last time I went I couldn't decide between the Banana again or their famous Key Lime so I got both and switched off between every bite. This is becoming a must stop every time I visit Miami.

  • Marcio Cantelli

This new location is much better than the previous. Much more space to hang out and everything seems much more organized. I love all their desserts! Tasteful and dozens of options from cakes, cookies, ice cream, flan, among others. My favorites: carrot cake and stuffed Nutella cookie. You’ll not regret it!

  • Robert Ilijason

A seemingly very popular bake shop. In spite of it's small size they seem to serve tons of people every day. And sure, their product is good. Not everything is to my taste (too sweet) but that has more to do with my taste buds than with the cakes.

Their cakes are unparalleled in taste, reaching a level beyond comparison. Absolutely must try.
