Came here to celebrate my birthday with a few friends and we mostly had a good night, we did encounter some issues though which I will get to. First of all the food was delicious! We tried the Brisket Ragu papadelle, beef sliders, steak sandwich, bacon Burger and 2 pizzas. Everything was great I must say. The pizzas tasted extra good. I've also had a super tasty and beautiful looking drink, the special K! It was honestly so good. One problem was that none of the servers knew which time the kitchen closed. I needed to know as I had one person come around later due to work but still wanted dinner, asked 3 different people and got 3 different responses. Luckily once my friend arrived food was still available but it was like a 50/50 chance. The staff was all very friendly but some seemed like they should do some more training. During dinner I ordered another drink via the QR Code and it was forgotten about. My partner enquired after waiting for about 25 mins at the bar and they hadn't even started making it at that point. We started dinner at 7 pm and had a bowling lane booked for 8.30 pm. Came to the bowling counter at 8.20 but waited around for 5-10 mins for someone to show up behind the counter. Then I was told by a female employee our booking was at 8.10 pm (which is incorrect), I showed them the confirmation email clearly stating I had booked for 8.30 pm. We were offered to either take a spot at 9.50 pm which did not suit us or to start now but our time would be cut short as they have another group starting at 9 pm. Considering I paid $75 for 5 people I was not happy being told instead of 50 mins we can now only have 25 mins now due to their mistake, not ours. We wanted (part of) our money back or for them to sort our their mess and to let us play our whole game. A male employee (manager?) joined and said we can do our whole game and he will sort out the rest. If my partner hadn't spoken up we simply would have been ripped off which I don't appreciate. I understand that technical mistakes happen but the way the situation was attempted to be sort out by the female employee was not appropriate. The rest of our night was fine, played a fair bit of arcade games and headed home at 11. The card system for the arcade games definitely wasn't explained well enough while purchasing, didn't realise that some of the card options won't allow you to collect tickets. I'd say this place is ok for all ages but there's definitely a tendency to a very young crowd. I do like this place due to its variety of entertainment but I'm certainly put off by the service we received.

We had a function booked here yesterday for my daughters baptism and it was absolutely awful. Our original booking was for 1:45 but my husband came in the day before the function to ask Krishna if we could bring our booking forward to 1:30, he said this was no problem. When we came in to see Krishna about about booking 3 months ago, we spoke at length about the space we needed as our booking was for 30 people. We booked two long tables at the back, two round tables for the kids and two tall tables to display our cakes. Again, Krishna said this was no problem and would be organised. We arrived yesterday at 1:30 and had to wait at the front in the doorway with all the kids in the freezing cold because people were at our table still. After 5 minutes we just came through to wait near the pool tables and we were told our tables were getting cleaned for us. We were seated at 1:45 at the two long tables at the back, half of us had to stand because the two round tables for the kids weren't there and there were no other tables free. The two tall tables we asked for also weren't there and we had to ask staff to bring them around for us. When I asked the staff why we didn't have all our seats they said that when my husband came in the day before to drop the cakes off he said we only needed the two tables at the back and rearranged everything else, this is simply untrue. The food was nice until I went to eat a piece of chicken that had hair on it just to make things even better. All in all, the day was an absolute shambles and really upsetting. I feel like I wasted a lot of time organising a function that would have been the exact same as if we had just walked in with no booking at all. My guests had to spend a lot of time waiting on tables to free up so we could get the table space we needed and originally asked for. We will never set foot in this place again, and there are a lot of kids parties that will now never be had here because of the way things have been dealt with. Honestly, they were lucky we paid the tab before we left.

I would have given 10/10, if it wasn’t for these reasons. We had a 6 year old party booked from 12-2pm. We were advised by staff to arrive 15 minutes prior so we can setup for 12 o’clock start. At 12:03 we were already being pushed to start our games because they have booked too many birthday parties and we would be cut off from playing as we would go into other booked times. At 12:03 we only had 4 other kids show up, and we were being pushed to start bowling even we were missing more than 10 kids. By 12:30 everyone arrived but the games were more than half way through. We paid $35 per child for 15 kids, plus food and drinks for adults, this cost up more than $1000, which would have been fine if we were not treated like a number on a conveyor belt. Then we moved into the arcade games, my son won 2000 tickets, but was not allowed to claim any of it, besides 100 that was already included on card. Because of some timed session, the way it was explained to me at the time, we had to start our Arcade games by 1:30 and finish by 2pm, because we were there until 14:20 all those tickets were not valid anymore. There were no staff available at the time to take us through any of these, no staff available to help the kids out with any games or to explain anything to anyone. The staff were very unprofessional, I’m so disappointed that we were treated like this, even we spent so much money for a event that lasted 2.5 hours. Stop booking parties so close to each other, you need to give people time. Not like a robot, a quick turnover and out the door.

Everyone raved about it and they even said they all wanted to have their parties and celebrations there! The kids had a fantastic time in the arcade area in the bowling. Of course we were the last one there at midnight with my husband not wanting to leave and just keep bowling haha we will be coming back over and over again !! Thank you

Absolutely amazing place! Full of surprises! This place had an amazing atmosphere and so many activities to do at reasonable prices! The bowling area was decorated incredibly and looked like a really good activity to do with friends! There was also pool tables and a whole arcade area too!! The pub area was massive and could hold large round of friends. The food was delicious and there was a huge variety of options to chose from to meet a variety of dietary requirements. The spicy veg pizza was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. The generous amount of vegetables on the pizza with an extensive amount of cheese was delicious and a dish I would definitely get again! It was a generous size and very filling as there was a heap of toppings. The vegan burger was amazing. The patty was nice and different to the usual vegan patty’s. There wasn’t a of chips and vegetables with this dish and it was filling. Would have liked more vegan cheese or sauce to give it an extra kick of flavour. The sticking date pudding was the perfect way to finish the meal. It was rich and the ice cream cut though. It was perfectly balanced. Definitely a must try. The cocktails were nice and such nice colours! Overall it was an incredible place to go for a nice night out with a group of fruits for fun and food!

I wish I had been in the mindset to take photos of this amazing place! I came here for a friend's birthday, and I didn't know what to expect before I came. Perfect for kids and families, as well as for the bigger kids (like myself and my husband), as there is no end of entertainment to be had. Not only was their food pretty good for the price, they had a reasonable selection of drinks available. But they also have a full on bowling alley and arcade for you to have a go at. We didn't get to bowl on the day we went, but we had a good time in the arcade, playing all sorts of games. Only thing they would benefit from adding is a photo booth arcade machine, for people to make memories there in the spirit of fun and play. Highly recommend to visit if you're in this area and want a full fun night out!

Food and place 4/5 - very happy with that. Service 1/5 extremely poor. We were supposed to have a dedicated host for my son's bday party we had on a Saturday afternoon. We were pretty much left on our own. Even with kids bowling, they were not given special bowling shoes, which is a very big safety hazard. There was no explanation or instructions to kids around do's and don'ts of bowling. We had to constantly remind staff to bring food, refill water jugs etc, they lost track of drinks tab and we had to pay an estimated figure. Perhaps look into your staff to customers ratio. You are actually putting your staff at risk of being overworked and potentially exposing them to injuries. I generally don't write reviews unless I have something positive to say; however, this needed to be said as a public service announcement. Suggestions- 1. More staff. 2.Dedicated host means dedicated to one party or a couple of parties; 3. Look into your health and safely standards. 4. Consider bookings only or limit the venue to a few partys only rather than trying to serve unmanageable amounts of crowd. 5 Lastly, please look after your staff!! Their health and wellbeing is your responsibility.

General public is such a great place to take the kids, the family or just a group of friends. You can do many things in the space from just having a good meal, to playing games or bowling. These options are perfect for people of all ages. I would recommend general public as the perfect place to go out with friends with plenty to do. The only down side is how expensive it can get depending on how many people you head along with. It’s not hard to blow a good $100 per person if you want to engage in all the activities and get a meal or a drink. But if you’re careful with your money and go in with a set budget you can certainly do plenty for less and just enjoy the space and the atmosphere. Overall even though it’s quite out of the way being so far from the CBD it’s a worth while little trip out to the south east and is a lovely space for fun and excitement in Dingly Village.

This place is a mess. We arrived and the place was 40% busy so we could see a bunch of tables with no people but still with the leftover and garbage from previous customers. Then, we tried to play pool. TBH the tables are just a joke. Our table only had one cue so we had to give it to the other player after we played. Also, the tables look from AliExpress or something cheap cuz they were smaller, the balls were smaller too and the quality wasn't good. About the arcade. This was so disappointing. It feels like a scam. There were plenty of machines malfunctioning but still taking the money from you. For example, after we pay for one of the machines that was supposed to give us some balls, the machine didn't do anything. Also, there are some machines without instructions and when we asked the only person in charge of the whole arcade place, she also didn't know how to play it. We lost around $16 with all the broken and malfunctioning machines. The kid selling the cards for the arcade didn't care to explain anything. So useless. I am sure I won't ever go back to this place.

We celebrated my son’s birthday with some of his friends yesterday and we all had the BEST time. Although it wasn’t an official bday party, Matthew, the incredible venue manager, went above and beyond and we truly felt that nothing was too much trouble. We have always loved visiting General Public but after yesterday, it’s really gone to another level. The kids loved bowling and playing in the games arcade, Matthew was even happy to hang a pinyata inside (he climbed a ladder to hang it from the roof for us) and the kids and parents loved the pizzas.

Great place to go with family or big outings. Food, beer on tap, bowling, generous arcade selection. Service for food and drinks is 4/5 Arcade service 2/5 Problem is, many if not most arcade section games are broken or in state of disrepair. It's hard taking kids over to play, they jump on a bike or a tiny carousel pony and it just doesn't work. Moving to next game doesn't work, kids get upset and cry and there goes the atmosphere hah. Still nice to have a place like this around the corner. Food is amazing, good parma and with larger groups the bigger food boards worked a treat and they're generous servings. Overall a great experience.

My client (with Down syndrome), ordered a fish and chips, waited 20 minutes noticed the table two down from us had a plate of fish and chips just sitting there. Twice a worker came over to me, once asking if I was Layla (I’m a man). The second time he approached he did an awkward u turn. By this time I was sick and tired and went to find out what the hood up was on my clients behalf. Turned out it was put on the wrong table- which is fine, these things happen. However the excuse given by what looked like the manager and lack of apology for the mix up was what was wrong and poorly handled. I thought maybe when they finally came by with the correct food there would be an apology, but no. Do better. If I could give no stars I would. Poor service.

Overall great venue for a family fun day! The food & drinks arrive quite quickly to enjoy whilst bowling. All freshly made and delish especially those chips! The difference to 5 star rating would be the staff available vs the venue size or number of patrons. The few occasions we've been here, the staff have been friendly but busy running to & fro between stations so the speed of service & organisation could be improved. The most noticeable improvement would be the value you get with the arcade games. They seem to be quite short game durations & at $2.20 per game with less 'tickets' accumulated, the value seems better at other gaming venues or arcades inside bistro restaurants.

Food was very good.Bowling alley, machines to play. Latest deal wasn't explained properly- you can purchase a card for either a half hour or an hour of unlimited play on the machines at a good price (Sounds good in theory) However, only one machine can be used at a time, you can't start one, give the card to your other child to use another game at the same time,it won't let you. Plus (and this is the big one) you are LOCKED OUT of winning any tickets, which is pretty much why the kids want to play, to get tickets to use at the end of the stay. So, a good time was had with good food, we were just disappointed that the special card deal wasn't fully explained.

"I recently dined at General Public and was blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and cozy. The manager was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the meal. But let's talk about the food - it was absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The cocktails were also top-notch and beautifully presented. Overall, General Public exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a fantastic atmosphere."

My daughter celebrated a young adult birthday at General Public with 20 friends and family. It’s a great venue with great pizza! Staff were so attentive and friendly and went out of their way to make guests feel welcome and happy. Chloe looked after our party amazingly and Matt ((manager) made sure also the night was enjoyable. They also played arcade games and bowling. Thank you General Public, would thoroughly recommend

We visited General Public a few months ago and did some bowling, had lunch and played at the arcade games. Bowling was amazing, the equipment is super modern and well maintained. Everyone had a blast. Food was yummy and there were great options for the kids. Now, the reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is because the arcade games have seen some better days. Some of the games didn't work at all and we wasted our money there, others didn't work quite well and the kids were a bit disappointed. If they looked after their arcade games a bit better, this would be a 5 star place, no questions asked.

We had our daughters 8th birthday party at Dingley yesterday and honestly it was amazing!! We had the most wonderful person as our party organizer, his name was Reid and he was truly awesome! He was so attentive and the kids all loved him. He made our experience so much more special and my daughter was so happy the whole time! I honestly can’t thank him enough, he went above and beyond the whole time. The pizzas were delicious and they catered for us vegans too!! So good! The kids are raving about the party and we will definitely be back!

The food was ok, wait time was accurately estimated, and they offered a gluten free option. Service could do with a little attention as I had to return to the counter because of missing items in the kids meal. Can get loud, but overall an enjoyable night out for a family. However when it came to the arcade machines, the majority were out of order or in disrepair, including the pinball machines, which was a major let down and a waste of our gaming card. It is the reason they missed out on 4 stars for me.

They've only recently opened up so may revisit at a later date for another try, once they've had time to settle in. The staff are very friendly and the venue is nicely set up. Drinks selection is pretty good. Nice cocktails, good beer. Some of the food needs a bit of work. Had the cheeseburger which was okay. The bun had been cut so the bottom section was about 1/8 the thickness of the top piece. Had to flip the burger so it wouldn't fall to pieces. Chicken wings needed more cooking time. The pork and beef ribs were tasty, as were the nachos.

We booked our sons birthday here for bowling and arcade games and our party host was extremely lovely. The day ran smoothly and was well organised, the food was so plentiful for 11 kids and adults and the kids had a great time with both bowling and in the arcade area. This was the first time we’d been to the venue, and I was really happy with the staff and value for money with the party. The kids were all wanting to come back again. Thankyou to the party host for making everything very easy :)

Still a great venue for some family fun Did Tenpin Bowling, played pool, arcade games. As we where there for a birthday party we tried to experience everything the venue had to offer. Great to know they will open 2 new venues one in Frankston snd another in Knox Only thing I where not that impressed with was the burger patty as this was dry and tasteless. Overall a great venue and we will keep on supporting you for more family fun Thank you guys Great job from the party coordinator as she made sure everything worked out smooth!

  • Rebecca Zanella (Bec)

I won't be returning. Atleast 11 of the games were out of order, turned off, had parts broken or just not working properly. Absolute waste of our money. On school holidays you would think maybe a little more attention to the games to make sure they are working. I saw kids climbing on machines, piffing balls at machines all with no adult supervision. The only thing I can recommend is the food. I can't complain about that.

It's expensive. $18 for an entre of 4 small pieces of chicken. $2.50-$3.00 for ONE pinball game. $2.20 for all arcade games. That is an utter rip-off. The staff are all wonderful however there simply isn't enough of them. The design of the place is sensational and the atmosphere is brilliant - adults feel like kids and the kids are just free and safe to roam.

Have been here a few times now for celebrations or just dinner with family and friends. Generally very good for a pub meal with nice pizzas, some common pub meals and a good selection of drinks at the bar. Food generally comes quickly and if it takes a few minutes you can always go play a few games in the arcade area! Kids have some nice food options here too and they generally really enjoy the arcade area, particularly at quieter times.

Extremely annoyed at the absolute lack of consideration for the party I paid for in full and booked in advance to happen in august. The only communication I received was as if my party was still going ahead even though we were in lockdown. I have sent numerous emails and called many times leaving voicemails all for nothing. If your looking for good customer service then perhaps look at booking a different venue for your party. Very poor!

Bowling was faulty a couple of times, we booked 8pm to 10pm for bowling and then pool till 11pm. They said kitchen close at 8.30( pretty disappointed), and then the called last drinks at 10pm when they close at 11pm. Staff started cleaning around 9pm when they close at 11pm. Just felt that they want to do the Bussiness hours and run home. Don’t think I will go again. Strike bowling much better customer service.

Good location and ambience, however the arcade games are a shocker. Multiple machines out of order, some don’t even work even after you swipe a card and a lot of them are dated. Not happy I got scammed by the machines at least 20 dollars. I’m a local and I love to support but please fix up the machines they are a real disappointment for my children! Makes winning any prizes difficult if they don’t even work!

Its like she didnt want to be there and not interested in explaining how the card system worked or anything. From other people conversation it seems like they felt the same. Just an FYI if you are going for the 1st time and buy a game card your winning credits gets scan to your game card automatically.

  • Swearly Dog

The experience my family and I had here was horrendous. We arrived 15 minutes before our bowling started like the ticket said but ended up waiting 45 minutes to start our game. After all that our game was cut short because the people before us overstayed their welcome. The systems in place here are tenuous at best. We were not fully refunded for the game we entirely missed out on. I do NOT recommend.

  • Samantha Small

We went to General Public Dingley on the school holidays to celebrate our son's birthday. Considering it was school holidays we were very lucky and it wasn't very crowded. We enjoyed a family game of bowling before spending time playing arcade games. All the staff were absolutely lovely and we really enjoyed our time there.

Great food, great atmosphere, everything about it is awesome. They have plenty to do from playing games to just chilling with friends while eating and drinking. I love the look of the place, really retro and old school. Recommend for people who want to celebrate their birthday somewhere, this is the place

General Public in Dingley ROCKS!!! Reid and Simone were our hosts, absolute legends! Nothing was too much trouble, so organised and just wonderful customer service. The pizza and chips were delicious!!! Maddy the supervisor came over and introduced herself and really looked after our birthday party, made the girls have the best time. Thanks heaps :-) Definitely coming back ********

  • Sambih Traders

Been there 3 times in 3 weeks, good place to enjoy but cleanliness is shocking, tables never be cleaned on regularly basis, have to ask the staff at counter to clean the table. Worst part is toilets, very filthy and stinks badly always, you lucky if there is a soap in soap dispenser. I gave this feedback to Manager Sam on my first visit but still no change. Lack of Poor management.

  • Mariam Khalil

I’d like to extend my deepest thanks to you and the wonderful team at General Public, Dingley Village. Matt, Linda, Gabe, the kitchen/bar/wait staff were so welcoming, friendly, accommodating to our needs and so easy to make the day run so smoothly. The Y12 students had the best time and the food was so plentiful and delicious!! I’ll be making a note to come back next year

  • Rekha Taylor

A great place to host a ‘Fun’tastic party! We had the SAB staff party at General Republic and what an amazing night of bowling, fun, laughter and hIgh-fives, complemented by great drinks food and brilliant service from Matthew and his team, Gabe, Adam, Ellana, Gabby and Dec. Thank you heaps for a wonderful and memorable evening guys, You Rock! We will be back

  • Patto Music

The second star is only deserved for the decour. Food is ok but both food and drink are criminally overpriced, the arcade is average at best, and why they offer pool tables but don't provide cash out over the counter is hands down the most stupid thing I've ever seen in any establishment anywhere. We live in a practically cashless society..it's pathetic. Do not recommend.

  • Josefino Jr Jayme

Long gone are the times of 'Kings' and slot in this revolutionary place called the 'General Public'. As it's name suggests, it is a place for everyone of all ages. Great atmosphere, delicious food and ample room for the kids. Great place to take a bunch of mates for drinks or bowling, even top it up with arcade games. There is soo much variety, it's great.

  • Roisin Dalton

Great place, fun atmosphere, we attended a kids party and the host was also fantastic and very attentive helping the kids to bowl. I dont know how they can charge the prices they do for the food though, $10 for a plate of chips is robbery, would be half that anywhere else, hopefully when they are up and running they can stop price gouging on the menu.

  • Jason Allen

Poor service, staff inattentive, food ordinary. Waited 5+ mins at bowling counter with no staff available at the counter. Curt response of 'were busy' when i went looking for staff. Sat night and no more than 75% full.

Great venue, awesome food and entertainment. Staff were really friendly and really made our time here awesome. Our kids absolutely love the ticket machines and yes the prizes are absolutely not worth what you spend on credits but that is half the fun. Such a FANTASTIC place fir the whole family under one roof. Well done we will be back!!

  • Evangeline Ioannou

Dining and bowling here were enjoyable experiences for my kids and me. In particular, Chloe was so kind to us and set up our bowling games, even getting us water on such a hot day without asking. It was a great time and I would definitely recommend it!!!

Good place to bring the family or meet up with others. Meals from the kids menu are decent serve sizes with the burger almost as large as the regular menu burgers. If you are bowling, food can be delivered to your lane. Lots of choices at the bar too so there is something for everyone. Plenty of parking and easily accessible.

  • A. Arora

I’d love to visit again. As it's a lovely place to spend quality time playing and eating. I'd recommend it as a nice place to go with friends, family, or a partner. The staff is courteous too.

We had a party here on the weekend and it was insanely busy. The staff were excellent. I guess 12/13 year olds might be too old for their party package at $38 a head but we had 4 small pizzas between 11 people and it simply was not enough food.

We held our work Christmas party here and it was a great experience. Matt looked after us, and he was ready to go with any request - which was met with a smile! Alice who organised our function was very easy to deal with too and made the process very simple and easy. Would definitely have another function here!

  • Daryl Ngan

Experienced extremely poor customer service from the bar today. Ordered a drink during happy hour (2 for 1) and didn’t receive one. Went back to the counter and asked the bar staff and got given bad attitude plus no extra drink. Definitely not coming back here again. Not worth your time here for polite ones.

This place is good! Fun for all ages I think. Just come prepared for food, bowling, and games. At least 100 bucks. All worth it. Food is great, especially the nachos which I don’t see on the menu. Hope they didn’t get rid of them because those were better than any Mexican place around Melbourne.

This place is great for a night out with the kids. Food is good enough and the happy our is good value. Kids played video games for 30 mins unlimited $15 and also received 100 tickets for a couple of treats after. Staff were all really nice and have bowled before which was great fun.

Really nice place. Played a game of bowling, thought the themes were really cool. Nice atmosphere and good selection of food. However, felt a bit uncomfortable when purchasing food and the female manager was standing behind the boy the register looking over his shoulder.

  • Belinda Caldwell

Great place for gatherings! The games are fun, the staff are friendly. Food and drink service to quick. Standard pub fare but solid. Only complaint is that it gets extremely noisy extremely quickly with nothing to dampen the sounds. Plenty of different spaces though.

  • TT

I went here about a month ago for a birthday party. Great place for entertainment, there is Bowling some Arcade games and a bar, the bowling lanes are really nice, clean and have no dents. The arcade games are fun to play however old you are, you will 100% enjoy it.

  • Sam Mckerrow

Took my kid to the arcade here, a game game we played was 30 seconds of play for $2. That’s $3600 per hr. Other venues very similar that run arcades, offer buying an amount of time, you can fit in as much as you like and just play again. Your welcome for the math.

  • Suzie Corcoran

I recently went there a bucks and hens came together and party. It has a great, large area for both families and friends to get together. Has a great bar, bowling alley, vintage vehicles and bikes. Cocktails also made with pride and well priced. Will be back!

  • John

A surprisingly good place for letting the kids run riot while you have a beer and basic feed. Well appointed Family Centre with Bowling, Arcade games, table tennis, bar and cafe.. great for kids birthday parties or letting the kids off the leash for a bit !!

  • goran cizmek

Slightly overpriced. Something for everyone. It would be great if all the amusement games worked. Slightly overpriced on food For what it is. Staff quiet young and could do with some more training. Giving it 3 stars. Definitely leaves room for improvement.

  • Liam Brownlie

Weird club music playing while your trying to eat that doesn't fit the scene, and the qr ordering takes ages just to get a couple drinks on a quiet night. Bowling and arcade are good fun though plus the general look of the place is nice, Food is just ok.

  • Andrew Welch

As an adult, it was fine, great place to take the kids, as a grumpy old man, the music was a bit too loud, if I was a teenager again, I would have really enjoyed it. Either way it's a good thing

Good vibes and the decor is amazing from what it use to be (kings) didnt get to try the food but they had pretty good deals. Big enough arcade for the kids and there is bowling and pool tables. Great night to be had with family or group of friends

Cool venu for families, food is good. Gaming arcade needs new games and an upgrade. Although the oldschol rifle game is cool. There was a terrible sewage smell in the carpark and some terrible looking liquid, hopefully this has been taken care of
