Summary: Not fit for purpose Background: Been using Hertz for years with no problems. This was my first time using the Liverpool Airport branch because the Vauxhall Road branch (and all other local branches) were closed at time of booking because of Covid. For this booking, I was returning a vehicle to the Liverpool Airport branch which I had picked up at a branch in Oxford. Experience: You won't be able to find where to pick up/drop off the car using the branch address in your sat nav. I had to ask airport security to direct me. Big inconvenience number 1. When I eventually found the pick up/ drop off car park, there was no attendant in the cabin. The notice on the cabin said "if the car park cabin is unattended please can you drop your key at our Rental Office directly opposite the Terminal building". I waited and waited, walked around the car park, as I would have liked a rep to confirm I had returned the car on time and in its current condition! In the end, I had no choice but to follow the contingency plan. Big inconvenience number 2. I leave the car in the car park, walk 15 mins over to Terminal building and then spend approx 20 mins trying to locate the Rental Office (not at all clear with multiple car rental company logos plastered on what only appeared to be a multi-storey car park). There was nothing to direct you to the Hertz rental office or the key box. Eventually, after trying and continuing to fail to get through to the local rep on the phone, I had to call the Oxford branch where I had picked up the car. They were very helpful, put me on hold, called the site manager, who could only be as specific as "opposite the yellow statue" (!). Eventually I found the inconspicuous key box with the tiny Hertz logo. Big inconvenience number 3 (and I think there is a 4 or 5 in there!) I was able to escape without having to wait for a seemingly elusive customer service rep to appear because I could just deposit the key in the box. Thank goodness I wasn't picking up a car! Result: I will not be using the Liverpool Airport branch again and until the other branches reopen, I will be using another rental company.

Bei all den negativen Bewertungen muss ich eine Lanze für Hertz am Liverpooler Flughafen brechen. Ich wurde von einer sehr netten Dame empfangen, die mir alle Abläufe transparent darlegte und mich auch darauf hinwies, dass es wichtig ist, Maut bei der Überquerung des Flusses zu zahlen. Über die Macken des Autos wurde ich aufgeklärt, eine Übersicht erhielt ich kurz darauf auch per E-Mail. Dass man mit einem Mitarbeiter persönlich den Zustand des Autos überprüft, habe ich nicht erwartet - ehrlich gesagt habe ich das auch noch nirgendwo erlebt. Das Fahrzeug war sauber und absolut in Ordnung. Der Weg zum Parkplatz wurde mir erklärt (ja, man muss ein paar Meter laufen, das ist aber an anderen Flughäfen zum Teil auch so), ebenso die Rückgabemodalitäten, da ich das Fahrzeug vor Öffnung der Geschäftsräume zurückgeben musste. Wie man im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung daran scheitern kann, den Weg zum Parkplatz zu finden, erschließt sich mir nicht. Das Flughafenareal in Liverpool ist so überschaubar, dass man die Retour des Fahrzeugs mit halbwegs funktionierendem Verstand hinbekommen sollte. Auch die Rückgabebox für den Schlüssel ist doch wirklich nicht zu übersehen - auch hier verstehe ich nicht, wie man daran verzweifeln kann (zumal mir bei der Übergabe des Schlüssels genau gesagt wurde, wo ich den Schlüssel hineinzuwerfen habe). Wenn Kunden kritisieren, dass sich die Rückgabebox nicht direkt beim Parkplatz, sondern gegenüber dem Terminal befindet, dann hat man offensichtlich wirklich keine anderen Probleme. Wenn man so manche Rezension liest, fragt man sich wirklich, ob sie von Erwachsenen geschrieben wurde oder nicht eher von Kleinkindern, die ohne Vollbetreuung an einem fremden Ort aufgeschmissen sind. Auch wenn man für relativ viel Geld sicherlich Ansprüche an die erworbene Dienstleistung stellen darf, sollte dies doch nicht damit einhergehen, dass man das (Mit-)Denken einstellt.

Please avoid renting or returning to this Hertz location! They are running a scam. We returned our rental to Liverpool airport, when we got there the returns office was shut, a sign on the door saying “please go to main office” also nobody there so we had to put our keys in the drop box. When we picked up the car in Scotland we took photos of the entire vehicle to cover ourselves. There was a scrape on the back bumper. This scrape was also shown in the pre-rental condition report for the car. However, we have been charged for the damage without any communication from the company except for an invoice. There is also no phone number that you can call to address the issue. The customer support email keep saying “please provide documentary evidence” after I have send the pre-rental condition report photos and photos taken ourselves. I have read other reviews and can tell this has happened to other people. This company should feel ashamed at the way they treat their customers. Scamming young travellers who work hard to experience the trip of a life time is disgusting.

USE A DIFFERENT HIRE COMPANY! Hertz have the worst costumer service I have ever received from a company. No one from hertz inspected the car with me at pick up at Liverpool airport or drop off at Manchester airport. An hour after drop off I received a email stating that they believed I was responsible for damage, i responded immediately stating I disagreed with this and showed the report paper showing the damage marked on the report. After receiving no response from hertz I emailed again with no response, then I was automatically charged. When I emailed to dispute the charge I received an email stating I was at fault, after numerous emails back and forth it was agreed I was not at fault and was not to be charged, but they never issued a refund. After several more emails I was informed by a different employee that I was at fault and the process started again. After 6 months of back and forth emails I am still yet to come to a resolution and have not recieved a refund off the charge. I would advise people to NEVER use hertz, just use another company.

The worst! I reserved a large L2 car, arrived at the place and was given a small Toyota Yaris with no explanations. Was said that it was all they had. I paid tripple the price with no compensation. Awful! P.S. Even worse, I reached out to customer service and was said the following "Kindly note that after proper investigation regarding your reservation, we have found that the charges regarding the car rate were charged to you correctly and does not qualify you for a refund" How can you book a L2 car, get a small car and not get any refund. Now, your reply means that you want to talk on Facebook messenger which I do not even have.

Rented a car through Expedia and when I got there the man who was wearing a Hertz shirt the office looked like a Hertz office. Then he says he can get me a car to come back at noon. I did then it came to ppthe cost I was told it would be about 565 dollars. I had pre paid the insurance with Expedia and he tells it is no good and I need to pay 987 dollars to rent the car. I didn't rent it and will never rent through Hertz again and will never recommend them to any one.

Absolutely terrible service. Turned up and nobody there despite our reservation clearly showing the date. Website showed open Monday- Friday. This meant extra expense for us due to booked accommodation and loss of a day’s hire. Turned up the next day and said we do not work Bank Holidays. No apology, slow service and attitude left a bit to be desired. Did get a car from there eventually but an extremely slow process. Still waiting to hear re compensation.

AVOID AVOID AVOID I tried to drive into this hertz to drop my husband off to collect his hire car. The barrier failed to lift so I had to reverse out and got a £60 fee by the corrupt parking company that run the airport! The staff at this hertz then didn't pick the phone up we constantly rang for two days to try and find out their opening hours. Spend your money else were, there are several other companies who are a pleasure to deal with in the same area.

All ok dropping off. Bit of a walk to the terminal. Luckily the weather was dry. Man who checked us in was friendly and helpful. Had to pay a toll charge through the Internet, nothing to do with Hertz, but you need to be aware of it if you use that particular road. There seemed to be no other way to pay. Morrison's petrol station is just before the airport, travelling west. useful if you are dropping off a hire car that needs to be full.

Really helpful just booked it over the phone and went to collect. Took out everything reccomended ie the peace of mind for car and for myself also nice and brand new rental cars at good rates plus again peace of mind given by good customer service to the person I met to collect keys definitely would hire off Hertz in future thanks Hertz and all who I met from Hertz, five *****.

Hertz gave me a defective car with dangerous steering but did change it when I brought it back then charged my Visa card €58 for initial rental then €85 for extending from 2 days to 3 days plus extra insurance then €139 for no reason then €295 for no reason for a 3 day hire Ulster bank say hertz are known to do this type of thing but can't advise me on what to do next

I got to the airport with my 2 year old and this silly place was closed. No communication, nothing. Absolutely pathetic. I was stranded at this airport with my toddler and no means of transport. I had to ask for help to get a taxi that cost me an arm and a leg. Whats more is I paid for this rubbish and got nothing. Absolute SCAM.

I have used Hertz at Liverpool Airport numerous times and ALWAYS have had a great result. Good service and good pricing with no problems with collection of the cars or when returning the cars. I will always have no problem in asking for a price from Hertz at Liverpool Airport until I have a problem with them.

Nowhere to park to book our the vehicle without paying £3. Pick up is a fair walk from the office, seemingly no assistance available so I'd hate to do this with lots of bags. Bare minimum customer service at the desk, I hope visitors to our city do not get the same experience.
