This place is hiding away just off Bourbon St, a beautiful little bistro with charm to spare. While there is a small area with a little bit of Irish info when you first enter, "museum" seems like a bit much as far as a description goes. That being said, my wife and I loved this place. We went here the evening of 5/20/21 and the gentleman manning the bar/coffee shop was great. I had a cup of Irish coffee and WOW, just a delicious cup. My wife partook of one of the many Irish whiskey flights available here, however, and this is where the place truly shines. The gentleman running the place that night was a wealth of information about the various whiskeys on offer, sharing stories and various facts about each one we inquired about (and after it became apparent just how much he knew, we wound up asking A LOT of questions). Not only did we learn a lot, we also went back home with a newfound appreciation for some whiskeys we hadn't even had a chance to try before this trip. While a lot of people go to Bourbon Street to simply get their party on, if you relish the opportunity to slow down a tad and truly savor some fine whiskeys while educating yourself a bit, I can't recommend this place highly enough (and honestly that cup of coffee made for a wonderful pick me up between rounds on Bourbon St for me).

Without a doubt my favorite spot in Nee Orleans. The owner happened to be working and was extremely kind. We went in for an irish coffee. Without a doubt the best i have ever had, it was sweet and bitter and "spirited". An adventure for sure, if nothing else go just for a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a flight of whiskey which was extremely delightful. I dont know if you partake of whiskey but nice whiskey is sipped and gets you to a nice level of "ease". As we were the inly customers in the bar at that time the owner (Michael?) Gave a delightful explanation of all the different types of whiskey that I was drinking and we had a pleasant conversation as well. If you haven't been down to Bourbon Street this place is definitely a diamond in the rough because most places look pretty rough but this place probably because there's a museum inside and a beautiful courtyard gives an ambience that rises above the rest of Bourbon Street and French quarter. If you happen to find yourself down in New Orleans you should treat yourself to acquaint small Irish museum with tons of History and some wonderful excellent whiskey you will not regret it.

Non-museum people of the world, I understand how you might feel, when you are visiting New Orleans, and your mate wants to drag you to a learnin' place to get some culture (pronounced "culchuh" here). What if I told you that at the end of a rainbow there was a museum with only...... 2 rooms.......and one of them included..... a great bar? Had you stumbled across this treasure, then, my friend, you have found the Irish Cultural Museum, which features a great coffee and alcohol selection......with some placards and photos, reading optional. Try the red lemonade on a hot day, fantastic thirst quencher. I'm pretty sure this is the kind of place where you might be able to donate your Irish wares and find it on display.........really, really fun as in laid back. I mean it. Come here to escape the hot of the day.

This place is absolutely beautiful and made the perfect place for my wedding! The family was extremely nice and helpful and made sure everything was perfect!! Even while all the chaos was going on with my wedding they made it a point to close me and my new husband off from the crowd to sit us down and have a moment to ourselves and serve us some food to make sure we had something to eat. I found that to be so heart warming and personal that I will remember that forever!! The food was absolutely delicious and home made!!! Their son Luke was our DJ and did such a good job with our music list and the transitioning he was great!!! The whole experience was perfect, it even rained and the venue was so perfectly covered that it didn't seem to bother anybody!!! I am so glad my planner recommended this place.

My husband and I actually came here in the morning, we really wanted coffee and just needed a place within walking distance. I forgot their names, but the grandson of the owner and his wife were super nice!!! They chit chatted with us, gave our dog water, gave us local recommendations, and just made us feel super welcomed. Plus, the latte was super smooth with amazing flavor. Probably one of the best Ive ever tasted, how crazy! I would have never guess an Irish Pub to have amazing coffee! My husband and I will definitely want to come back in the future. Thank you so much again for brightening our morning and giving us great service! We didnt check out the museum section, but Im sure it is amazing as well.

I hesitate to tell folk about this place, I want to keep it all to myself! It's my Oasis of Calm when I'm working as a tour guide in the hectic French Quarter. Alas, it must be shared because it's so good.. when I say good, first and foremost it's a damned good cuppa Joe. So far that's all I've gotten there but I will work my way through the menu which includes coffees that are easily superior to Starbucks. Plus they have a small selection of snacks that will come in handy when lunchtime rolls around. Add the books, and relaxing classical and Irish music, and you understand why it's my perfect getaway from the hurly-burly.

The one unplanned stop on our trip, and one of the best. We saw the sign and went inside for my husband to get Irish Coffee, and when Michael heard that I don't like coffee he immediately offered to make me a similar kind of morning pick me up drink, but with tea. They were so nice and the bar was so pleasant, with really tasty drinks. Would highly recommend stopping in there!

This is a wonderful place to celebrate Irish culture and enjoy an Irish coffee, with or without the coffee. There are several photos of the history of the potato famine in Ireland and the flight of Irish emigrants to America. Also, many law enforcement officers have left their uniform badges here, just like they do in Garvey's Tavern in Eyre Square in Galway, Ireland.

Connected to, and supported by, the pub next door/behind the museum. Small museum but interesting. Beautiful courtyard. Very cool, very chill. Best irish coffee we found out of six local Irish Pubs and the only place playing good music. Extensive Irish whiskey selection. They've got nicer pours, but they're a little pricey. Family run

We happened up this gem on the way to the Cathedral, and man we are happy the we did. The Irish coffee was good enough to make up want to return and the quality of the staff ensured that we would - every day we were in town. Very clean and interesting place to tuck into while exploring the quarter. Sláinte - thanks for everything!

  • M Müller

Fantastic little gem. They have a great exhibition on the Irish and their history here in New Orleans. It is informative and professionally done. They also have a coffee bar, which is well worth visiting. It features a beautiful French Quarter courtyard that really creates a terrific ambience. You'll be glad you stopped by.

Come for the culture, stay for the amazing vanilla brown sugar latte's. This place is full of charm and has a full bar/coffee shop. The owner and his family (family owned and ran) are charming, sweet, and informative. Great place for some hair of the dog OR if you're from Seattle like me, really good coffee!

  • Neal Rigney

I absolutely want to love this place. Nice courtyard, definitely Irish themed, definitely Irish culture with a museum. But for the life of me I’ve not managed in 4 visits to buy a Guinness. Every single time they’re out. And if you don’t have draft Guinness, you’re no better than a liquor or grocery store.

  • Warren Carrubba

This is a bar/café with museum implements. Great place to get a drink. Surprisingly excellent prices for NOLA with a good dose of Irish history plastered on the walls. Go for the drinks stay for the history or go for the history stay for the drinks - you choose. Either way you won't be disappointed.

  • Bama Girl

Nice, small museum about the Irish culture and heritage in the New Orleans area. Located on Conti Street in the French Quarter, it has a bar/coffeehouse attached with delicious beverages and a relaxing open patio area on which to enjoy them *Please note - adult beverages are primarily served here.*

  • Kevin Hendricks

The Irish Cultural Museum has an amazing and interesting collection of artifacts, exhibits and displays. The staff's customer service and attention to detail and knowledge of the subject matter is top notch! And the coffee is great too! I couldn't have had a more pleasant experience.

  • Don McLoghlin

Irish Cultural Museum is beautiful- Best place to drop in and learn about Irish heritage in New Orleans. Make it a priority to visit for a proper coffee, a fine Irish whiskey, or one of their mind-blowing, original cocktails. Owner is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. 5 stars

  • Joseph Vickrey

I found this place while killing time for a dinner reservation. The bartender, was very knowledgeable, and passionate about whiskey. He suggested Writer's Tears, and it was delicious. As, a whiskey novice I didn't think I would be able to taste a difference, but it was delicious.

  • Noel Leckemby

I visited this lovely shop in October 2021, and have literally dreamt about the Irish coffee since! The atmosphere is very laid back, almost tranquil, in the mornings. It's a really charming spot to stop and have a drink and learn a bit in the process. Can't wait to return!

  • Lesia Healy

Loved the historical info and fantastic drinks. Tried a couple different ones and they did not disappoint!! Family recipes are the best! Cute courtyard to drink and relax. Our bartender was super friendly and gave us some great recommendations of local eateries as well.

  • Mary Martin

Stopped in before leaving NOLA. Small one room FREE museum documenting Irish immigration and contributions to New Orleans. Check out the coffee bar and courtyard for a pleasant and quiet place to relax! They even had my father’s favorite Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey!

  • Cheryl Doherty

The Irish Cultural Museum is a wonderful place to visit, rich in education and information on Irish history and customs. Customer service was excellent, and the coffee is great, too! Tons of great merchandise to purchase as well. I will definitely be visiting again.

  • Tammie k Stinchfield

Not only is this an interesting place to visit they also serve some fabulous Irish whiskey. Very friendly folks in a cozy , off the street venue. If you're looking to take a break from the crowds and hustle and bustle of city , then this is the perfect place !

  • W J

Love this place. Very nice selection of booze, very good bartenders who can mix standards like an old fashioned or a Sazerac or one of their new concoctions. The Irish coffee is great here, also the Dublin fog, which is based on hot tea, is pretty addictive.

  • jess yawn

It's not a museum. But a room to walk through and read a bit about Irish heritage in New Orleans. It's a great slow down and breath moment if you need one. But "museum" feels like false advertising lol its free though. Walk through back to the coffee shop!

  • Matthew McArthur

A must go to place that's fabulously ran and layed out. The owner Matthew was a terrific host and bartender. Great selection of Irish whiskeys and teas. One of the best parts of our trip to New Orleans was going in here when we saw their sign.

  • Susan Kelb

The museum wasn't real big, buy had a lot of information. The little pub had an excellent, knowledgeable bartender and the drinks were fantastic. Sis got an ICIC (Irish coffee with ice cream) and I got an Irish milk punch. Both were excellent.

  • Jack Green

Stumbled onto it by accident when my sister and i ducked into a side street to regroup from the heaf and crowds. Fantastic oasis of quiet in the madhouse that is mardi gras. The drinks are traditional irish and great, I didn't try the food

  • Patrick McCarty

The Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans is a wonderful educational institution which features the finest tours, most pleasant customer service experiences and the most delicious coffee in the Big Easy. If one is interested in the history

If you're in New Orleans I highly recommend stopping by. Awesome place to learn about an amazing culture with a strong influence to the area. On another note, the coffee is almost as good as they serve in Dublin!

  • Catherine Peters

Very informative about the Irish population in NOLA. Small, but to the point, and very clean. There's a little coffee shop across the courtyard that had wonderful coffee. A nice way to spend an hour or two.

  • Wolfgang Lynn

You’re not going to find a more low key, clean, and professional space in the French Quarter. It’s just off the beaten path and the Irish coffee is simple but pure. Also the Guinness is from Ireland.

  • Ner InNOLA

Very friendly! Very small museum but a great little bar with huge assortment of Irish whiskey. Also good lattes, teas and a lovely courtyard. Extremely gracious staff that made us feel like family.
