A tour of the modest size museum was given by Mr. Jackson who is a living dictionary of Jazz. His knowledge is so vast and he will take you back all the way to Egyptian kingdom. Each of the photos, paintings, artifacts on the walls is not just for decoration, but has a deep story which you will hear from the owner. Highly recommended. More

Our visit to this Museum was the highlight of me and my GF's visit to New Orleans. Al was so friendly and so knowledgeable he not only put me on to so much new information in the museum he also got me to research so much new information. It's a brilliant museum accompanied by a brilliant tour. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Absolutely fascinating. I was lucky enough to be there with two gentlemen from Amsterdam who knew more about jazz/music and therefore had more follow-up questions. The tour will teach you a lot, but follow-up questions are where it's at. You can learn so much that it starts to wash over you like waves. I would go back every time.

The importance of this museum cannot be over estimated. It is keeping the history of New Orleans music from being lost. It is helping revive not only the history of Treme, but the Treme itself. Every time my husband and I visit this Petit Museum and spend time with Al Jackson we feel privileged and grateful.

The Museum is a must see if you are a jazz enthusiast and want to know the truth about the origins of jazz music. Al Jackson, its curator, is extremely knowledgeable and will share with you the truth with recordings, pictures, art, and a narrative second to none. Go visit Al at the Tremé's Petit Jazz Museum!

This visit was highlight of our week in New Orleans. We are grateful for it being featured by so many on Trip Advisor. We learnt so much from our patient and knowledgeable hosts... Just so sad that there isn't a live jazz venue in Treme, the home of its birth. Oh and great air conditioning!!

  • Andrea F

Oh. My. Goodness. So much information. I will definitely be back and bringing friends with me. The docent who collected all the stuff and information owns the museum. It may be small, but there is just so much to look at and see. Come. Bring your friends. Bring your mamma and dem. More

We were so lucky to enjoy a private tour with Al and a private performance with two of his fellow performers! Learned so much about Jazz and the history of New Orleans. Would absolutely come back again. It’s people like Al that keeps the soul of the music and the history alive! More

Stop in for an excellent 30-60 minute private tour with the owner Al. No real self-serve option here - he has some historical jazz "artifacts" and topical artwork, but mostly the appeal of this museum is the depth of knowledge and history that Al has to share. More

Undeniably one of the highlights of our trip - hard to pick in New Orleans, but I'd say easily a top three experience. After stumbling in from a big lunch at Lil Dizzy's up the road, we were treated to an extensive and warm tour by Al. We

This place is a gem, Al knows a ton and played samples of music from each era as he talked about it. He even started the tour by having us (very badly) improvise some music together--it was rough but fun! When we showed up it was closed
