I brought my engagement ring in for the “same day” platinum playing service. I also brought in some 22K gold pieces for polishing. The plating service wasn’t able to be done same day. I wasn’t able to pick up my ring in time for my engagement photos. When I did pick up my ring he handed it to me and I noticed it was missing 4 stones. He was very rude and laughing saying it’s not missing anything. I showed him and he just shrugged and said he will look for them. My ring is a 1.20CT Art Deco solitaire with accent stones. He absolutely didn’t care even slightly and was literally laughing the entire time asking why am I so upset… once he found the stones he said there would be a charge to put them back in. He gave me back my 22K gold necklace and it was also missing several stones. He sold me he will charge me $25 each to replace those as well. Then he lectured me about how the jewelry isn’t expensive and that it’s costume jewelry… which it’s not. I told him check it and he did and then agreed it’s 22K gold. After about 20 minutes of arguing he very hesitantly agreed to repair all the damages without charging me. He said “this time I’ll help you out and not charge you. But next time there will be a charge” I asked him “next time you break my jewelry you’ll charge me to repair it?” And he said yes... I still paid for the service fees of the platinum plate which was about $200, and still paid for the polishing of my 22k gold necklace. After repairing my ring is very noticeably repaired. The diamonds he reset have little blobs of solder around them and the ring is just not the same as it was. The solder balls often snag on my clothing and each time I look at it my eyes go straight to the chunks of solder. I’m very upset about it because it was an impeccable ring that was recently retipped to ensure the stones were all tight. He was so careless that he just tossed everything in an ultrasonic cleaner and ruined it all. He didn’t apologize even once. I tried to remain calm throughout but he just kept giggling and shaking his head like it wasn’t a big deal. That bothered me more than anything. Accidents happen, when when a mistake this huge is made it’s pretty important to remain professional and apologize profusely and repair it as quickly as possible. As a warning I recommend researching very well before visiting this jeweller or any jeweller for that matter. Just because someone has a store front it doesn’t guarantee your jewelry will be safe. I used the same jeweller for 17 years , he recently passed away so I visited this location hoping to find my new “jewelry place” I will NEVER visit this store again for any reason. UPDATE: every item I brought to you was solid gold, 18K, 21K , 22k etc. its very strange that you’re saying “white metal” when you’re a jeweller and you know very well if someone is diamonds or solid gold etc. As for insisting on being served before other customers that’s ridiculous… your advertisement offered same day rhodium plating. So I came in for same day service and you flipped out when I requested it… my wedding photo shoot was in 2 days and the ring was not ready on time. As for the timing, I completely agree this didn’t happen recently. Do you have a policy for just “same day” reviews? Or are we free to leave a review whenever we feel it’s the right time? I didn’t leave a review right away. You broke the CC necklace and you broke my engagement ring. You literally tried to charge me to repair it. There’s nothing more to be said than that. It was a horrid experience and you’re an incredibly rude and inconsiderate person. You were giggling and rolling your eyes and completely arrogant the entire time.

My husband and I can't recommend La Mode enough! It came recommended by married friends of ours who had a great experience there with the owner, Mike. We got both my engagement ring and mine and my husband's wedding bands there. Mike is amazing to work with, very knowledgeable, and knows how important the process of shopping for, deciding on, and buying engagement rings and wedding bands is. He went above and beyond when my then-fiance waited through site glitches and shipping delays to get my center diamond shipped in time for his proposal planned in BC over Christmas. Mike was emailing him every day with any updates and made sure to keep him in the loop of what was happening. It all worked out, thanks to Mike, and when we went back to pick our wedding bands he made sure we knew about the metals and the designs for different bands. His loyal customer service is top-notch and we'd certainly pass along the recommendation to visit his shop when looking for rings or other fine jewelry.

La Mode to the rescue! I had several pieces of jewelry repaired and rhodium plated at a local jeweler near my house because it was convenient. The jewelry came back to me looking dingy and old, and after 2 days of wearing one of the bracelets, it broke again. I thought that the jewelry was ruined. I decided to drive across the City to take everything to Mike, my mother's "go to" jeweler, and when he was done with it, everything looked brand new and it's held up! I can’t believe the difference. Mike is incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, particular and above all - honest. He's crafted two custom diamond rings for my mother, who is a perfectionist, and they're absolutely gorgeous! I'll never go to anyone else!

I have been in here a few times now as I like to do before writing a review and every time, Mike and his staff have been super friendly and helpful. No pressure sales or anything like that. They take the time to adjust to your budget and have lots of options for ordering what you prefer instead of getting you to walk out with something the same day. Mike also does all the repairs and customization on site for most of his stuff so he really knows what materials and styles work best for what you buy. Highly recommended.

He was so patient and insightful to someone like me who is incredibly indecisive. He helped me to narrow down my taste and leave knowing what I like and don’t. Great customer service. I required a custom design with a very specific colour of diamonds that my wife loves. La Mode uses a phenomenal computer program produces very good renderings of the various combinations available which helped in choice. Mike was very patient and worked through all the options and even offered to bring in the diamonds at no cost just so that I could confirm the desired colour.

Over the last 4 years i have been to La Mode to purchase my wifes engagement ring, our wedding rings and pretty much every Valentine's gift ever since. The service is always amazing. Mike stands by what he sells and has never tried to sell me anything I cannot afford. I cannot say enough about how great La Mode has been.

Mike is a realiable and knowledgable owner/on-site Goldsmith. He has a great selection in the store but can also help you design a custom piece. My last visit he was able to help me pick out a great band to fit a loose gemstone. It turned out great! He also adjusts bands and changes batteries.

I took my mom on her birthday to fix her brand new watch (not purchased at la mode) to get her watch strap shortened, the owner I believe helped us and was very friendly, he did not charge my mom and had it fixed in under 5 minutes! Merry Christmas & I hope this business has a great season!

Repaired and cleaned my jewelry for a decent price. One thing broke again right after I got it back but I just tightened the little metal circle myself and it seems fine now. Although one thing was fixed and not cleaned which I believe I had paid for.

Highly recommend this place. My fiance and I customized my engagement ring and the owner worked with us to keep the ring in our budget while making sure it's still exactly what I wanted. Also, my ring was ready in less than two weeks!
