I really wanted to love it here. The food is immaculate, the drinks were so delicious, and the view almost made up for the terrible service. My husband made us reservations for Friday night (September 29) 9pm so maybe this is why things were so slow (busy), but there were a host of issues with our orders, mainly with getting items on time. We ordered drinks at the start of the night and didn't get them until our entree came out (apparently went to the wrong table). We ordered appetizers and were sent the wrong one (later identified as a gift for our anniversary- it wasn't our anniversary, but I appreciate the attempt at glossing over the error) - we chose 2 and the second one didn't come until speaking with the server. Entrées came out reasonably, but we didn't see a dessert menu until 30m after requesting it. By that time we just asked for a coffee and the bill. We then needed to request our bill 2 additional times. I can appreciate that the server may have been exceptionally busy, however, I didn't like that he kept passing it off on the kitchen or bar for the errors. We were constantly told he would put in the order for something when he saw we were done. This makes sense if you are closely monitoring your tables, but this wasn't our story. I wanted to order more drinks and try different food items, but with everything taking so long and mistakes that took place, I just wanted to go home. There were way too many issues, and just taking time to actually pay attention to a table you keep messing up on wouldn't be the worst idea. Also, it might be a good idea for your servers to educate on food items when asked, not to discourage customers from buying food/drinks they tell you they want. Husband was challenged on whether or not he reeaally wanted the negroni lol ("you've had one before? So you know they are bitter? .. you understand the strawberry doesn't make it less bitter?") and then we were asked if we were sure we wanted raw fish (scallops) - it was super weird. ("Have you ever had that before? Okay, so you like raw fish?") Lolol - yes sir, I have been outside before. Again, the bar and the kitchen did a phenomenal job on eveything. More staff or additional customer service training for servers may be beneficial. Great atmosphere, and I wanted to enjoy the experience, but unfortunately, I do not think I will be back.

We travelled to Calgary from Red Deer for a special weekend get away, and we booked a table for 2 at 4pm, November 25th, 2023 at Major Tom’s. This place was by far the best dining experience we have ever had! Up high on the 40th floor we were seated by the window with the best view you could imagine overlooking the Calgary Skyline. The weather was perfect and allowed for a wicked sunset during dinner. We were also presented with a hand signed card by the staff as a welcome gift, which was awesome! First and foremost, a shoutout to our waiter Phillip Nguyen, who absolutely made our night even more special! He was humorous, quick witted, has an awesome personality, was present when he needed to be, is extremely efficient, and was the perfect highlight to an already spectacular night out! I honestly can’t say enough about the spectacular service he provided. Give this man a raise ASAP!! The drink menu is full of unique creations, and we tried the ‘Apple Vodka Old Fashioned’, ‘All The Way Up’, ‘Tom Collins’, ‘Paloma’, ‘Butterfly’s Elbows’, and the ‘East 8 Hold Up’. Every single one was amazing and perfectly crafted by the bar staff. We ordered the Crispy Hen Eggs and Major Tots to start, and while the Crispy Hen Eggs were unique, my absolute favourite was the Major Tots! Superbly delicious! For mains, we shared the 6oz Filet Mignon, ordered medium rare which was done to perfection, the Roasted Alberta Lamb, which was like a next level Thanksgiving style dinner, and the Garlic Shrimp as a side (Shrimp were huge!) Very exquisite all around! This establishment deserves a solid 15/10! This was a night that we will never forget. We will return again very soon. Thank you Phillip, and the rest of the staff at Major Tom’s who helped make our weekend getaway night the best it could possibly be!

There’s a reason Major Tom ranks in the top restaurants in Calgary and one of the top in Canada. The menu had a broad range of food options to choose from, but the drink menu was even more vast. We relied on our server for a number of recommendations, and he nailed it out of the park. We essentially made our own four course meal, starting with the potato donuts and the Crispy hen egg, followed by the oysters in a half shell with a tomato and peach salad (seasonal 5 stars out of 5), and ended off our main course with the mushroom and spinach cavatelli, and the steak tartare. To finish everything off we had to baked Alaska, which neither us had ever had. It was delectable to say the least and despite our best efforts, we could only finish about half - it was great value for the cost! We washed all of this down between the two of us with a Paloma and a martini for my wife (not at the same time lol) and a glass of red (2016 Chianti, which I don’t normally drink but was recommended and was great!) and a peach bourbon old fashion for me. The drinks were exceptional! One of the best parts of the dining experience though: the location and atmosphere. Chic and upscale, but welcoming vibe, you can see the Calgary Tower, from where we sat and beautiful 360 views throughout the restaurant.

What an incredible place! I was absolutely impressed by the music-themed decor, exceptional service, and delightful food. The only drawback was the shared bathrooms, which didn't quite meet the high standard set by all other aspects of the experience. Nevertheless, the potato doughnuts, hen eggs, and beet salad were all outstanding, receiving a perfect 5/5 rating. While the cheese toast fell slightly short of the hype with a 3/5 rating, the steak frites and chicken dishes were both exceptional, earning a well-deserved 5/5 rating. Although I would have appreciated a greater variety of cocktails, the ones available were truly delicious. I highly recommend trying the Baked Alaska, but be prepared for its massive portion size! We will be going again. Next time for steaks!

10/10 experience at Major Tom’s! Our server was Eugene, and he ensured everything was impeccable. The views are outstanding (highly recommend going during golden hour), the food was delicious, and the cocktails are ! Standout Appetizers: The lobster & crab rolls were A MUST TRY, along with the doughnuts. Standout Entree: The lamb was definitely a top contender, and I preferred it over the chicken. It’s tender and really flavourful. The only setback I had with the lamb was that the veggies that accompanied it are a little tangy.

I almost didn’t make reservations at this restaurant because some of the reviews I had read. I have to say I’m so glad I did. From the moment we walked through the door the greeting was warm and welcoming. I would like to shout out our servers Alax and Carly. Great service and recommendations on what to order and how to pair our food with our chosen wine. We started off with crab rolls and scallop crudo - so fresh and absolutely delicious. Next we moved on the the beet salad which did not disappoint either. For our main we shared strip loin streak, cavatelli and Marsala mushrooms. Mmmmm mmmm mmm mmm mmm. Thank you Major Tom’s for such a wonderful experience and helping us celebrate our Anniversary. We will definitely be back.

Great things to say about the afternoon menu and the lovely staff (but one). Every item was great and exceptionally made. My favourite was crab and prawn brioche sandwich! Amazing. The choc pot was too much for one person. The only thing I'd change is the guy at the front of the restaurant. He was efficient and allowed us to change our table to a much better view. But he seemed miserable. Perhaps he had a bad morning, hadn't had a coffee yet or needs a holiday but no one can truly be that miserable and short of words... I think he said two words to us. As the face of your great place... This wasn't a good start. I wish him hapiness to match his incredible pink suit and hat.

What an amazing service received a major Toms the food truly was out of this world ! Baked Alaska is it absolute must including the best steak tartare I’ve had in my life! Was able to bring a bottle of my own vintage champagne for a small corking fee and absolute perfection in the Champagne service received! The only thing I could recommend is may be a little bit of an able presentation I would make it a little bit more comfortable and visual the peeling. They’re kind of boring the table set up / comfort but watch that lacked the views made up for - definitely would return again!

This restaurant was recommended to me by my student; I am a Culinary Arts teacher and my Apprentice student insisted that I try Major Toms. David was our server, he made the evening an experience, not just a dinner, he was nothing short of outstanding. The food was unbelievable, perfectly prepared and plated, well balanced and fun. I was so impressed and inspired by the menu, it was a perfect evening! Cannot recommended this restaurant strongly enough, wonderful, highly skilled staff, talented kitchen and amazing food/cocktails.

Beautiful location but was disappointed by service and food (it was all served warm - not hot)… The food was very tasty but to be honest I’ve had much better. Service was indifferent and the waiter gave me some nonsense that after I ordered my first drink when seated, that I had to return the drink menu as they were short. So I had one drink…no wine and it kind of set the tone that I was unwelcome and a bother to be his customer. I was with a client so I decided to smile and not say anything. But if the managers see this, I’m sure you can see how that affects your revenue. Also - how can you serve food that’s not hot? I’m not sure I’ll be back. Def not recommended by me.

We had a fantastic experience at Major Tom! Arrived at 4 pm for golden hour, enjoyed delicious appies from the "golden hour" menu like potato donuts, major tots, and tuna crudo. Transitioned to the dinner menu at 5 pm, and we decided to try the butchers cut, beet salad, and mashed potatoes. The meat was cooked to perfection – a solid 10/10. Cocktails were delightful, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I highly recommend this place, especially around golden hour for stunning views and city lights at night.

This place was divine! Quick and friendly service, attentive staff, and delicious food. The steak was nicely seasoned, easy to chew, and came with a side of horseradish on top. We also got the pork belly (which I forgot to photograph) but it had a nice charred and Smokey flavour and was tender to the bite on the inside with crispy edges. Frites were thick cut and salted goodness. The beet salad had a nutty almost tahini like flavour and it was quite good. I’d recommend it as a starter. Not too overpriced considering it is a fancy dining place in the heart of the city. All in all, would recommend.

A beautiful restaurant with phenomenal views highly recommend going and paying a visit to Franco and Joanna. Franco was in control of every drink I had and went as far as to think of the flavors I was going to have from the food and pair it with the drinks. He was able to give me an amazing backstory with Alberta and their steak as well as gave me great insight as to new places to try that you don’t find online. I could not recommend Franco or this location enough.

First time here. They did not disappoint. I would recommend all the food I’ve had . The Major tots are amazing! Their roasted pickerel was delicious. Also had their scallop crudo, roasted chicken, and the cavatelli. All were pretty good as well! I would say though, the chicken breast part was a bit dry for me. This is the first time we’ve ordered chicken in restaurants. It turned out pretty good. I would really recommend coming here! Wish we can get a window seat next time! Also hope they bring back their duck. Heard great things about it and really wanted to try it!

A fairly pricey place but most of their food was delicious. The hen egg with pepperoni jam was tasty and interesting. The potato donuts were my favorite! The burger was good but not amazing. I enjoyed the east coast oysters a lot, and their house made hot sauce was so good. The baked alaska dessert is actually quite large for two people, 3-4 could enjoy it. It was a great date night where all the food was either excellent or very good, and my drink was tasty too.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and the best in Calgary. We got the filet with peppercorn sauce and honestly we didn’t need the sauce because the steak had so much flavor (I would still get the sauce though, because it was delicious as well.) My friend and I also got two drinks each and the waitress was super helpful with giving suggestions to our tastes and answering questions. The views were amazing and they were able to seat us 45 minutes earlier for our reservation.

I went to this place for my late lunch. I really expected this place because I saw the article on the magazine. However a service was little slow (it was ok for me).
