The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is a unique and treasured gem on the beautiful Northern Beaches. It always has interesting, beautifully mounted and curated exhibitions thanks to its highly professional and dedicated staff and loyal volunteers. It's location and the views of the Harbour beach and ferry wharf are unbeatable. In addition to temporary exhibitions MAGM boasts a permanent collection of art and objects relating to the district that are fascinating culturally. A visit is highly recommended, preferably by coming in a ferry to Manly and strolling under the pines to this free and amazing little Gallery and Museum.

It is a wonderful place for anyone who love art and history. The permanent exhibits quite good place to spend sometime if you are bored around manly beach. Clean, well maintained, air conditioned and spacious. It has ceramics from different parts of the world, including European, Asian and aboriginal works. Next to that, it’s very well organized. The entry is free, however you need to pay if you wish to visit an additional exposition. The outdoor ocean view is fantastic.

  • Steve Horan

Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby, and entry is free. It's quite a small gallery and museum, and doesn't take long to fully tour, but for its size, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. At time of writing, the museum had a musical instrument exhibition, consisting of lots of large photos of musical instruments played by iconic Australian acts, with an accompanying page of associated facts and history. Interesting and nostalgic.

  • Sara Stevenson

Robust collection for such a small space. If you're stopping into Manly Wharf to make your way to the beach, grab a bite and check this place out before hiking beach side. The art is a mix of photography, paintings, charcoals, mixed media, and pottery. Best of all? It's free so it's no ding to your pocket even if you don't find the art to suit your liking.

  • Suvendu Das

When we opened in 1930, MAG&M was NSW’s first metropolitan-based public regional gallery. Today we’re a hub of cultural activity on the Northern Beaches, with changing art and museum exhibitions, and a stimulating program of art workshops for both kids and adults, artist talks, performances and special events.

Always a fantastic collection of top art. Eternally interesting and wonderful location. Staff are helpful and welcoming. As someone else mentioned, the ceramic collection is astonishing, but unfortunately totally uncurated and crowded in a back room. Well worth a regular visit. One of 3 associated galleries.

A beautiful little gallery at the end of Manly Beach (harbour side) not far from the ferry terminal. Gorgeous outlook. Free entry. Only real hassle is that there's no easy parking option for drop off or pick up.

Beautifully sited gallery next to Manly's harbour beach with terrific collection and interesting changing exhibitions of painting, sculpture, ceramics and photographs. Small shop selling locally made art works. The view from the picture window is an art work if it's own. Not a bad cafe next door.

Manly Art Gallery has several exhibition spaces as well as a gift shop for arty presents that will please. Within walking distance of the ferry on West Esplanade. I viewed the recent Environment and landscape Art Prize. Suitable for all ages and interests.

  • Leanne Moores

Wonderful gallery. Entrance is free. Close to the ferry and buses. Always have great exhibits. Lots of eateries around. Nearby park for children to play in. The gallery itself is not a great place to take children as there is nothing there for them.

  • Petra Stuart

If your over at Manly it's worth a visit, gallery display of local artists. Might be your cup of tea. It's not the round building to the left of the picture it's the smaller building to the right

  • Marjorie Bellingham

Manly Dam exhibition on. Interesting collaboration between artist and water management.. ceramic collection interesting too. Booklet explaining the pieces. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.

  • Amanda M

A loverly quiet space to visit to see local exhibitions and artists work. The council really needs to resuscitate that whole area near the aquarium, what a shame it all sits derelict.

  • Robin Gill

This is a hidden gem. Small gallery of well curated exceptional art. Better than some galleries in major cities. A great place to escape the sun for a hour and well worth a visit

  • Maria Wills
