Overall I wouldn't visit again, the cooked food was okay, the baked goods were stale and the service of the staff was just awful. Visited here with a friend for lunch, we had a reservation but when arriving the waiting staff were nowhere to be seen. After a few minutes somebody spotted us and we were seated. The staff members were not friendly nor very efficient, we ordered food and drinks which were very tasty and came within a quick time frame but then we were just left, our table was eventually cleaned of plates but we were not offered any other service. I wanted a coffee and after 20 minutes I got up to find someone to try and order but the staff weren't easy to find, I was given a menu and I sat back down only to wait another 20 minutes without anyone coming for our order. I had a prior appointment so ended up running out of time for coffee so had to try to get the bill. Again I had to walk around to attempt to find a staff member, when I did find someone they were arguing amongst themselves, they didn't stop this argument to see what I wanted so I ended up politely waiting till they had finished which just made me feel uncomfortable and awkward. I wasn't given a receipt to check either, the server just came over with a card machine so I have no idea whether the amount was correct or if they added service charge. I was also told they didn't have baked goods in this location but they did have some along the shopping centre and I could go there and bring some back which just felt a bit odd. I did go and visit this other shop location after as the cakes looked good online and once again the staff were not great, I got a blackberry cronut which when I got home I ate and it was very mediocre. The pastry was stale and felt old, the filling only filled about half the cronut which had turned slightly soggy. It felt like it had been sitting out for a few days honestly.

Such a disappointed experience with Medicine pop up in the Mailbox. We visited on Thursday 22nd June at around 2pm. The caramel latte we ordered was really bitter. My wife went to get it changed for something else and the lady who served us (lady with curly hair) was really rude and condescending. My wife wanted to either return it or change it for something else but the lady said you already have drank it so I can’t do anything. I can make you another one of the same thing. Of course we drank a sip how else would we know it was a terrible coffee!  My wife said she really didn’t like it and wanted to change it but the lady said there’s nothing else I can do and was so rude saying too much had been drank. My wife then said well if you aren’t giving us a choice and then she shrugged her shoulders and said I’ll put more caramel in if it was too bitter. No interest in politely resolving the situation. Every time we come to medicine we have a good experience with friendly staff. This lady was honestly so rude and despite us clearly expressing we want to change it or return the coffee, she literally refused. I don’t understand how that is allowed when we clearly expressed dissatisfaction. This is so unethical and we left feeling so shocked with the service we received from a business which we often visit. Very damaging to the brand to have someone so cold and rude responding to feedback, when we were reasonably asking for a solution.

Not impressed and wouldn't recommend. We visited as a group of four, they were kind enough to squeeze us in. Upon having our food the waiter dropped a steak knife on our friends head which scraped down the side of her leg, which is fairly fine, accidents happen and they were youn. When paying we had split the bill in half, I paid with contactless and could see the payment came out, the waiter asked me to do it again as it hadn't gone through on her end and said I would get the money back in an hour-day, I thought fine and did it again, I could see the money come out yet again and the waitress still said no it hasn't gone through. Confused my partner tried it and it seemed to work with hers, so I thought I'd wait until the payment cleared. After 3 days it hadn't cleared, so I emailed, it took their accounts team 3 days to get back to my request. 2 days to investigate, then I replied over a weekend, then a further several days to refund me only half of what I was owed, then had to follow-up again to get the other half back. Absolute shamble! Really, really, really poor experience - not just from front of house team but their admin/accounts team too! Customer experience abysmal and strongly would discourage going there (and I always support small/local businesses!)

Wow... Well I didn't think Medicine could set any better but jheeeeeze! This space they've got in the Mailbox is just beautiful ❤️... The bakery bit in the middle, which is just so inviting and lush! Then when you get to the restaurant part on the right hand side, just before Harvey Nichols... Wow. It's gorgeous! And the staff are amazing, so attentive and I loved that they clearly stood up against racism as well as serving delicious food ✊ and omd, the food!!!! All of it was just fantastic and even more so for me than the other venues which is saying something because I freaking LOVE the Gallery and the one in Codsall! I had the Harissa Benedict with added smoked salmon and halloumi, my friends had the French toast with maple bacon and a side of buttermilk chicken, my other friend had the buttermilk chicken and pomegranate salad... De-lish! Then we had some cronuts to go... I had a prosecco and raspberry one I think - for the first time in ages, I found it a little dry and didn't overly enjoy it... But, still have to give the place a 5 star because I'm just so over the moon about the experience! Can't wait to go back ❤️

Had been here previously with friends and they had a good time, this time was honestly a let down. We were a group of 6, and all have experience of working in the service industry and would say we're an accomidating group. The food was okay, quite pricey for some scrambled eggs that didn't have crab that was meant too... the budha bowl was good. Smallest amount of sauce given in the Eggs Royale. The passionfruit french toast was really nice, so some food was good. The main issue for us was we asked for tap water with our order, and we could see the place was a bit under staffed, just we asked 3 separate times and still didn't have any water. It was literally after eating our brunch we then had it brought over, the guy was apologetic. Also a friend had the steak and duck eggs but wasn't provided a steak knife, she waited a while, finally a staff member walked past so we could ask for one. The steak was chewy as well, so that wasn't great. Overall the experience was okay, just lacking in service and have to pick the right things to order, as not everything is worth the cost! Chai Latte was nice.

If I could give zero I would. Visited with my 9 week old baby to see some friends. On arriving baby was stirring so I asked for some boiling water to make up a bottle. 20 minutes later baby is screaming the restaurant down and I have asked the waitresses 4 times for the water. In the end I actually had to say my baby is distressed and I need the water now. Horrendous when you consider I’m a new mom and had everyone in the restaurant looking at me. To then add insult to injury I needed to use a baby change facility. Which I was told the restaurant dosent have and I would need to use the centre toilets. What kind of a place dosent offer a disabled toilet with baby change?? Genuinely THE worst experience I’ve had eating out.

I visited your bakery today with my family, there was 10 of us and it was for my daughter birthday. When I booked this my experience wasn’t great, the person taking my booking was laughing hysterically and I had to ring back later once she had calmed down laughing. I booked and said it was my daughter birthday, today no one asked if there was a special occasion or made it special for my daughter. The service we received was awful someone took our order quickly which was great but then they missed of one drink and brought out the side of bacon after we had finished. I spent £150 on breakaway which is not a small amount of money, and my overall experience wasn’t worth it. The women serving us only came back once during our time there to ask if we needed anything, the. When we went to pay she told us to wait so I went to some one else and paid. Just thought I would leave feedback and o hope the service and customer experience improves.

My wife and I had brunch at the restaurant. When seated my wife found crumbs on the green seats which indicate they weren't cleaned. Our server gave us some time to choose what we would like, in that time another server came and took our order. We found her approach quite abrupt, instead of introducing herself she just asked what do we want to order. I ordered the eggs benedict and the restaurant were great in swapping the ham for smoked salmon. However I found the hollandaise sauce very salty. One major concern was that near to the end, another couple left and I watched the waitress clean the table, there was no indication whether the table had been cleaned so she just looked over then cleaned the table however completely missed the chairs and the area under the plant and candle on the table. This is very poor hygiene considering we're still in a pandemic. This was not covid safe.

Used to absolutely love this place but the quality in the Mailbox one has gone down. I hadn’t been for a while since I’d found a live caterpillar in my food a few months ago. It was dealt with well (the manager didn’t charge me and they offered me a free meal from outside bakery). However I returned a few days ago and the service was rude, they’d changed the Harissa Benedict meal from French Toast Brioche to sourdough bread. I didn’t realise this as the manager rudely noted it changed months ago - sorry I wasn’t privy to this, I was hardly running back there after the caterpillar incident. The waiters are nonchalant and rude (apart from 1 lovely gentleman who served us). Waited a while to get served, the food took too long and arrived cold. Given how much they charge, it’s not worth it - certainly not the Mailbox one.

I would like to start with, no one puts ice cubes in a fresh orange juice. That said, I really want to give this place more stars but it's definitely lacking. The ambiance and the decor of the place itself is beautiful. The service is mostly not existent. Whoever of the two servers feels like coming to your table, will do so at their own time and convenience. There was five tables at max. Food doesn't live up to the hype. Spoiler alert! The fresh orange juice is not squeezed at the place and I highly doubt it's not pasteurized. Stopped at their outside kiosk for a dessert to go, the line was outrageous, they had one person running it from taking payments to making coffee to packing food, but the desserts are outstanding. The potential is there, just needs a lil tweaking.

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of stopping by 'Medicine' for some drinks, and the experience was truly exceptional. The ambiance of the place, even in daylight, had an inviting and sophisticated touch. Behind the bar, the trio of Mish, Daniel, and Esme worked wonders with their mixology skills. Daniel's drink recommendations hit the mark perfectly, Mish's deft hands conjured up some mesmerizing blends, and Esme's attention to detail with her garnishes was the icing on the cake. While it was the allure of their drinks that brought me in, it's the expertise and warmth of this team that will surely draw me back. A toast to 'Medicine' for a delightful afternoon!"

We tried the new part for brunch but need to give them the benefit of the doubt a little. The cafe part was only just opened and is bedding in. The food was delicious and what really saved them. We had 4 different brunch meals and the only real criticism was the french toast was a little too thick so became a little dry but everything else was really nice. The service however was terrible. High chairs which don’t actually fit the booths so the child was at the perfect height to hit their head on the marble table! Drinks forgotten. Over an hour from ordering to food delivery. Generally disorganised service. Pretty poor! If they can sort the service out this will be a winner. Right now I would give it a miss if they are busy.

  • Dom Smith

We had a lovely brunch here. The food was a little different to other brunch places, offering just a few more interesting options. The service and vibe were both great, and we ended up having a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Drinks were good, and the food was exactly what you’d expect. Maybe a touch on the pricey side, but worth it for the experience I would say. I had crab scrambled eggs, which let me down just slightly, and it wasn’t much different to plain scrambled eggs and I was really looking forward to something new. I would recommend this place all in all, and it’s great if you want a relaxed way to start your day!

The best place for breakfast, brunch and lunch in Birmingham. I am pleasantly impressed at how yummy and beautiful the foods are. Each dish is decorated dedicatedly like an art, which show true chefs really put their hearts into delivering an unique dinning experience. The foods are fantastic, the restaurant look very instagramable with very positive vibes. I no longer think breakfast is boring after I visit Medicine restaurant and of course I have no hesitation to come here more often. Just a tip: I got lost in their big menu so I went on their IG to find which dishes look nice and tried out. I recommend you do the same.

After waiting 5 minutes for the barista to cut a customer’s cakes in half, he then proceeded to wash the knife knowing full well I was waiting to be served. I asked a question about one of the items on display, as I did, I pointed to it and my finger hit the glass that was protecting the food. He abruptly said ‘firstly, can you not touch the glass!’ Wow! Rude much. This incident happened on Friday 7th July around 11:30am at the Medicine Bakery Deli in the Mailbox. Hopefully management will read this and have word with the chap on duty that day as that attitude has put me right off going back.

The bread is very good, one of my favourite places to get bread from. If you are a fan of sourdough, this is the right place for you. In terms of cakes, they are quite poorly for my taste, full of sugar. They claim that they are fresh, but once you try them, you can obviously realise that they are at least a day old... so for this, I gave them only 3 stars. I would give them 5 stars for the bread, but 2 to 3 stars for the cakes... It is a shame that a bakery sells products that are not super fresh. Pricewise, they are a bit expensive, but considering that they are in a shopping mall, is ok..

  • Kasim Ali

I visited, this branch, and what I would say, poor service, breakfast was lovely compliments to the chef, didn’t like how the guy with glasses was laughing behind the bar because I ask if the cheese was vegan where u can get it from Tesco! No one did a check back at all or cleared my plates as manager myself I was really shocked at least 3 people walked past me I had to ask the lovely smily bald guy for my bill , I think he was the only happy one don’t think I would come back no thank you poor service only giving two because the food was lovely .

  • Phil Bennett

Without doubt the best breakfast in Brum! This new outpost of the popular city centre bakery and eatery is located in the prestigious Mailbox building, and houses a bar alongside the main eating area. The cosmopolitan brunch menu brings some imaginative touches to the traditional fry up, including a popular vegetarian version. The French Toast with Bacon and Maple Syrup is enormous and to die for and is an absolute must for anyone with a sweet tooth. A range of cakes and pastries from the famous in-house bakery is also on offer to go with the excellent coffee. Highly recommended.

Went for brunch today. As we was deciding I had mentioned it was my partners choice of sides as it was his birthday. After we had finished the meal the server came over with a cake and lit a candle as she had overheard me mention a birthday. The food was amazing and the service was great. Definitely recommend and will be back very soon to try something else on the menu. The prices was very reasonable too.

Went for my birthday brunch on 25/09/2022 at 14:30 (Medicine Bakery - Mailbox Birmingham). Not impressed how they dealt with a massive food and hygiene issue. There was long human hair found in the food (Sausage Brioche). All they did was took that item off the bill and not even an apology from manager. Didn’t even try to compensate the rest of the bill. It’s because we didn’t want to create a massive deal out of it and kept it quite. I feel really disappointed . Was looking forward to my bday brunch. Hope they concentrate on hygiene levels in the future.

  • Chantal JB

Interior was lovely and we were given a private section for our party of 9 celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, that's where the positives stop. Food was poor, tempura mushroom greasy, poached eggs were hard boiled. None of our party particularly enjoyed the food and to top it off, there was a hair in the french toast (this was removed from the bill). My sister, whose birthday it was, was particularly disheartened as we were all looking forward to trying a new exciting place. Certainly wouldn't return, not to mention extortionate car parking prices in mailbox carpark

Had breakfast at Medicine Mailbox this morning, ordering an English Breakfast tea and the Avocado Tartine with some crumbled feta and a poached egg. Brilliant combination of flavours. We were served by Mish who was great! Super dry humour which we LOVED, she was real, and wasn’t being over the top. She gave us space to enjoy our meal but would keep an eye on us to make sure we had everything we needed and remembered our preferences throughout our meal to make sure everything was up to the mark. Thanks for the brill service Mish, you couldn’t have been any better!

At lunchtime on 23.05.23, I went for a quick lunch at Medicine Bakery with a few colleagues. I ordered the Steak & Eggs. Within a few hours, I was violently sick. This occured whilst I was driving, and could have been a fatal incident had I not found somewhere to park. I continued being sick for over 1 hour. I do not recommend visiting Medicine Bakery, no matter how nice it seems to look at the exterior. I will be reporting this incident to the Food Standards Agency to ensure the staff at Medicine Bakery start following the correct hygiene procedures.

  • MaMoon Zaheer

We have had two poor visits. Today we waited an hour for our breakfast but it didn’t arrive so we left. Apparently there was an issue with the printer but when they realised it, they should have prioritised us as we had a baby who was now very unsettled. Instead food was being served to customers who arrived after us. The time before this, we treated family friends to breakfast but it was really bad as in burnt and overcooked. We have benefit of the doubt as food is generally good but last two visits has done it for us. Very poor

  • ASQ Q

Venue was a bit chilly as opens on to concourse, so take a layer or so in this weather. The service was really good when they interacted with you, polite and helpful. However service was slow, think they were busy, though. Food was good. My cousin had the chicken and said it was very tasty. I had the avocado brioche. It was a bit singed (bun and halloumi), coffee had a nice flavour but was luke warm. Would I go back? Possibly, but would I rave about it, related to this visit unlikely. Maybe my choice was wrong from menu though.

  • Cameron Bromiley

The food is good, clearly made with care, however the service is terrible. We had to wait 15 minutes after first sitting down before anyone came to take our order, we asked for some tap water - it never materialised, no one came to check to see how our food was during our meal or if we needed anything else, we had to get up and ask for the bill ourselves and then finally we had to get up again to go and pay the bill as no staff came over. Clearly not enough staff for how busy it gets. Won’t be coming back here in a hurry.

  • Frank Shields

Not massively impressed. Ordered the Benedict and the medicine breakfast. My partners was cold by the time the food arrived. It was sitting on the pass for at least 5 minutes. Sent it back and the waitress retuned saying the kitchen replied that it was correct. We asked for it to be warmed anyway. I also asked for a replacement hash brown as mine was incinerated. Photo below. Just felt like no one was checking to quality of the food as it left the kitchen. Disappointing for the inflated price. Won’t be returning.

  • mogs tau teta tau

Great place for brunch. The food is nice and good for vegetarians. Cocktails are good too and everything came out quickly, but not a huge selection of stuff to choose from. There's also not many wait staff so can take a little while to order, but the service they provided was great. Theres only 1 toilet cubicle. Mixed gender. This can be a problem as it was busy, and the lighting inside wasnt good but it was clean. We booked a table a week in advance, and thats probably needed given how popular this place is.

  • Gerard Swan

Mixed reviews. Great coffee, gorgeous cakes. But tried to order double espresso with two extra shots. So that's 2 double espressos. No I want them all in the same cup please - a double espresso with 2 extra shots. Sorry I'm not allowed to do that I have to charge for 2 double espressos. No thanks, a double espresso and one extra shot then. And then it was made using a double espresso basket (we don't have single baskets) and one of the shots was wasted and went down the drain. What a strange policy.

  • River

Came here first time when it's opening after lockdown. 20 mins waiting for ordering our food, 20 mins waiting for the burnt toast and 20 mins for the bill with the "just opening" excuse. After about a year, I thought it would be changed. No, nobody asked you for your order after 20 mins until you reached out. Toast was still burnt. No service available. I know Medicine is branded as "Brum's Gem". But I just wasted 2 hours here for no reason, again. Not recommended if you just want a chill brunch.

  • Craig Williamson (brokenlogic18)

Wow what can I say?! Firstly we were served by an absolutely delightful waitress who regaled us with her favourites from the menu. The coffee was smooth, rich and deep. I had the Harissa Benedict for brunch. I love eggs benedict and I love spice so this was a wonderful twist on the classic dish. Serving it on thick, toasted slightly sweet brioche was wonderfully decadent. I couldn't resist going to the bakery section after that to stock up on cronuts to take back home. Can't wait to visit again!

  • Aqeel Marawat

Food was amazing, great ambience. Only one criticism, the Korean chicken strips, were extremely dry and should come with a condiment of some sort. When I asked for one, the lady serving totally forgot to bring it so about 10 minutes later asked again. Tried to get someone's attention up to then. Will be returning.

Long time Medicine fan but my first time at the Mailbox location. Service was a bit slow to get started, was left standing without acknowledgment for a few mins then was seated. But once orders were taken the service was great. Great food. Highly recommend the granola, yoghurt and fruit with a spicy and tasty chai latte. I’m a regular as I say so will visit again.

Their food always looks amazing and the taste matches! But unfortunately the staff they employ let them down massively. I’ve tried both the new st one (walked out of that due to the outright rudeness of the lady who stands at the top of the stairs) and I tried the one in mailbox as was served by a young man… talk about unfriendly and abrupt. Let’s it all down. Don’t think I’d personally visit ever again but would probably send someone else lol because like I said, you can’t fault their food.

  • KB 9

I thought medicine bakery was ok, i enjoyed my strawberry proseco, their version or take on the english breakfast was decent, didnt like the hash browns that seems to be a common theme with the breakfast spots i went to in Britain. My brother ordered their french toast it was nice, not overtly sweet, service at their bake shop needs to be improved tho, the two girls working at their counter clearly didnt want to be there. Their cakes aka donuts as is referred to in England was decent.

  • aya fetah

On Friday my sister inlaw and I went to medicine in Mailbox and they were so so nice towards us, gave us plenty of time to decide on what to eat and we were hosted by (Dario) and omg his kindness and serve 10/10! Made our experience so beautiful. I wanted a particular item without me saying anything he went out his way to ask the kitchen for me and they were able to do it for me and my sister inlaw! Honestly it made our day and the service again it was 10/10!! Dario you are amazing!

  • Ranvir Singh

We got the huevos rancheros (+chorizo) and the maple & bacon french toast. Both the portions were sizeable, and the huevos rancheros had the freshest guacamole. The chorizo added a nice firm texture and the strong flavour helped elevated the milder flavour of the black beans and the salsa. The french toast was soft and the balance between the umami of the bacon and sweetness from the maple syrup was lovely. The only negative was the service which was slow- 4/5 stars for this one.

  • Mal333

The interior was so attractive (and empty) that we decided to have a late lunch here. We both ordered tempura mushroom burgers and they were totally different in appearance! Mine had mashed (black) avocado on top of the burger and the other diner had mashed (black) avocado below the burger. The has brown was on an strange tasting tomato paste and it was soft instead of crispy. The only saving grace was the cold drinks were from bottles. Really disappointing experience.

  • Ant

The Medicine Bakery is situated at the Mailbox, very good location, within walking distance from New Street Station. The menu has a good variety of breakfast, lunch and brunch options, both savoury and sweet. There is plenty of seating, including a separate room for private functions. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food arrived quickly and it was delicious. There is also a wide variety of drink options, teas, coffees, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc.

  • Rob Crocker

We turned up and we were seated quickly, however we were then passed over by staff who served other customers who arrived afterwards repeatedly, looking around this wasn’t an isolated issue to us either. Eventually I had to attract a waiter’s attention to take our order who promptly forgot it. Then when our food came my order was wrong and had to be taken back, causing us to wait again. The drinks were lovely but next time I think I’ll be getting them to go!

  • Gordon Campbell

Just left the restaurant, there was an exceptionally long human hair (approx 30cm) mixed into the Sausage Patty in my food (sausage brioche), and i didn't want a replacement for obvious reasons. They provided me a drink as a replacement and removed the cost of the meal.. No attempt by management to discuss the issue and the lovely waitress did pass the issue over to the chef (who also made no attempt to come over and apologise). Probably won't go back!

  • Jackie Evans

Not overly impressed with what I ordered which was the scrambled eggs on sourdough with smoked salmon. The eggs were lukewarm, bloodline left on the salmon and the sourdough, which tasted strongly of garlic, was toasted on one side only. I did munch my way through it. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant and efficient. Would I come again? Probably either go to the other mailbox medicine or the New Street one and have my usual tea and cake.

  • mark shayler

Usually brilliant and the best sourdough in Birmingham. But this visit was lack-lustre. A massive wait for takeaway service. Then once ordered a 20 minute wait for a vegan Reuben. When it arrived it was falling apart and had made using one of the bread crusts so was like cardboard on one side. The vegan cheese had not melted and this meant that the whole thing fell apart. Really disappointing and I need to say that it’s not normally like this.

  • Haider Ali

Came here late Saturday afternoon. Had the eggs and sourdough with smoked salmon and heuvos rancheros. The sourdough was rock hard enough to rip the inside of your mouth and the poached eggs are basically prepared in advance and reheated, so the yolk was set. Unbelievably salty. The heuvos rancheros was a mess and the tortilla again rock hard, like its been reheated repeatedly. The coffee was good and the staff friendly.

  • Jo Blan

I have been to the medical bakery in New Street but this one in the mailbox was just outstanding and gorgeous specially the interior we went for breakfast and I had a hot drink lemon and ginger pigs tea that was nice never had it before but I will have it again when the breakfast came out it look tasty and delicious and it was the lady in charge gave us excellent services and staff were very professional

  • James TL

The food is delicious but the wait is just unacceptable. It wasn’t until we’d been sat for 20 minutes that our order was taken (even for drinks), and it was 50 minutes for our meal. It was reasonably busy but not packed, there was empty tables. When the food did come we hadn’t even been given cutlery. I’d go back for another try, just because brunch was tasty, but I’d be hoping for a better experience.

  • George Pollard

It felt weird sitting in the atrium of a shopping centre... but it was actually fine! The cronut was amazing, and some of the cakes they had looked absolutely amazing! Sure the original café is the best, but this is a great addition too!

Please do not order scrambled eggs here. We had four orders of scrambled eggs which all tasted quite acidic and were very crumbly/powdery. We expected much better for £14 each. (See picture). We were offered an alternative but it was quite ruinous for the stomach. Also, they substituted their freshly squeezed orange juice for carton juice without telling us and hoping to get away with it no doubt.

  • Pradeep Dhanda

Third visit here, unluckily this time sourdough bread was hard as wood. Wish they had given sharper knife, or at least warned upfront. Manager reckon 99.9% of time they get it right, only crust should be hard because sourdough but not after toasted. Perhaps I was unlucky one unsatisfactory experience in 3 visit so far. Hope things improve, not sure how anyone can eat such bread.

  • Prianca

I think Medicine is overrated. Yes the atmosphere and aesthetics are nice but the actual food and drinks are meh. Hubby had the fried chicken French toast which he thought was quite bland. I had the halloumi brioche, which was lukewarm when it arrived and again, lacking in flavour. Iced coffee was alot smaller than I thought, not great value for money. Don't think I'll be back.

Today I tried Medicine bakery and I didn’t enjoy the food. The cinnamon bun had a very strong oily retrogusto, making me think that the bun has been drowned in oil. I’ve also tried the Pecan Maple bun and it wasn’t any better. The ambiance in the bakery-café was overall nice but the items were not my type of thing whatsoever. Maybe the style is too American for me.

A place of recuperation. Palace of Relaxation and Recreation. Situated within the Mailbox residential and commercial complex, not far from the THE CUBE HOTEL. Medicine Bakery is truly intellectually medicinal. I go there regularly for meditation, study and recreation. With a cup of tea from the kiosk, you will become oblivious of the throng of feet that pass by.

Came here for brunch, I had the Sausage Brioche and my girlfriend had the Harissa Benedict, as well as a Blood Orange Lemonaid each. The food was excellent and so was the service. I’d gotten a TooGoodToGo Bag from Medicine Bakery before so I knew they sold good quality items, but I was really impressed. I would absolutely recommend, especially for brunch!

I wouldn't usually give a bad review but the customer service I've received recently has been shocking. I've have sent an enquiry about the private room to book but had no response. I've now phoned three times to follow up on two emails to be told that they'll get back to me but still not had any communication. This has now been 3 weeks of waiting.

Not a great experience. The stall in the mailbox probably would have been better than the restaurant. I had sour dough with poached eggs. Sour dough was dry and hard. No butter or olive oil. I was too shy to speak up. Any decent chef would offer butter with toast. The best thing was the tea. Would not recommend the restaurant in the mailbox

Beautiful place with food so good it brought tears to my eyes knowing I'd have to finish eating it at some point. One of the greatest breakfasts I've ever eaten

I am a big fan of Medicine and have visited their New Street Venue and Mailbox Takeaway bar many times before, but this was my first time in their mailbox restaurant. Gorgeous interior, friendly staff and as always outstanding food. I went for the Vegan Medicine Breakfast with Halloumi and Poached Egg added to it - the best!

  • Richard Colchester

Great selection of different baked goods, from pastries, cinnamon buns and doughnuts to brownies and cake. Tried a few things and all were lovely. The doughnut was fluffy and light, the maple pecan bun was nicely spiced and soft, the cruffin was buttery and flakey. All very tasty. Definitely go early to get a good selection.

The food was nice however when the staff member was delivering drinks she spilt milk over my friends jacket and was more interested in cleaning the table than she was in getting anything to help soak the milk out of the jacket. When we came to pay, staff member was surprised when we refused to pay service charge

Having been here on a few occasions now I’m dropping it down to 2 stars. Basically the service is awful. This’ll be our last visit which is a shame because the food is great.

Very lovely bakery, we had the steak and the salmon sourdough and both were lovely, staff were wonderful as always and it wasn’t too busy as we went in for lunch. We also had the mint, cucumber and lime cooler and the blueberry cooler as a drink and both were presented nicely and lots of flavour.

Went to the Medicine Pod, at the Mailbox center. The jam doughnut was good and had a lot of jam. A decent decaff coffee. The Barista was lovely, friendly and excellent at their job. They also had canned soft drinks. Savoury and sweet offerings, including whole loaves of bread. Plenty of seating.

Although I booked and noted that a nice and cozy table for a dating is required, they giudeded me randomly to a seat without reading my note on their system! The coffee and chaie latte were cold. It took one hour that they brought us our order! the design of my plate was done in rush! no value

  • Chainstop Ltd.

Croissants with more folds than a coward playing poker. Chocolate as rich as the culture from which it was colonised. Coffee that'd make an Ethiopian weep in envy. Special thanks to the waitress Lydia for her knowledge on the menu, excellent recommendations, fast service and cheerful nature.

  • Amelie Poirier

Delicious cronut! We had breakfast/lunch at first which was okay, but we loved the cronut. It was blueberry cheesecake flavored. We would definitely go back for it! It is quite big as well (we shared one). However, it is a bit pricey for what you get in our opinion (for breakfast/lunch).

  • Chloe Allaway

Had an wonderful experience at medicine bakery the other day, it had a lovely atmosphere and my waitress Libby really made it for me she made sure I was alright through my stay, I was greeted with friendly smiles at the host stand and the food was delicious, definitely coming back

  • Cecra “CT” Trova

I give them 4 and not 5 because of the very slow staff they have. I have been trying their products over a month and everything is really tasty fresh and amazing ! Bread, desserts, sandwiches everything ! But why do I have to wait an average of 15 min to hand me a piece of cake ?

  • Lacie Rivers

Some decent food but prices are a bit ridiculous even for the current crisis. How can you sell maple bacon french toast for 10.50 but a buddha bowl full of natural healthy food costs 13.00?? Come on, some ethics would go a long way to grabbing 4-5 stars for me, real shame this!

  • Chris Oxo

Amazing food and good sized portions. Didn't take too long for service and to get our food. Staff were friendly and informative about the menu. We were worried it wouldn't be as good as the other one in Birmingham but it definitely didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend!

  • Cat P

The cruffins are fantastic and keep for over 24hrs. Although it's filled the filling isn't too rich and the crunchy sugary pastry on the outside offsets the gooey inside. The chouxnuts are very tasty but a little sloppy on the inside and turn rock solid the following day.

  • puja sanan

Came for lunch, really enjoyed it… nice atmosphere & amazing service by Jono.. we had steak with duck egg,Royale’s Benedict’s & trust me they were made to perfection… food quality is amazing & not heavy on the pocket … cappuccino was so good … highly recommended …

  • Raegan Thomson

Literally my favourite place for breakfast in the whole of the UK. Everything about this place is special, the restaurant has such a great vibe and the food is even more delicious. Haven’t tried the bakery as always so full from the breakfast but it looks incredible.

  • Anna B

Great place for brunch with a wide range of savoy and sweet options. We had the halloumi, avo, bacon brioche and the maple French toast which was huge and delicious. Tables a bit close to each other but service was good and food excellent. Highly recommend

  • Harry Gracie

Great day out celebrating at Medicine Bakery with the family. Great food, attentive service and the perfect iced latte. Special thanks to Libby and Yas for the menu recommendations and the shout out to attend Medicine Nights which I will be sure to visit ASAP !!!!

  • Ravinder Singh

Had a lovely anniversary dinner with my partner. Food was lovely and came out promptly, our waitress Mya was very chatty and attentive to our table she welcomed us with a warm smile. Would definitely recommend medicine for a comfortable experience and great food.

  • Cucchlain O

Ok but it took 15 mins to make two coffees because the staff were gossiping. Were quite rude when I followed up on coffees. Not what you expect given the price. Have had similar issues at other branch on New St. You seriously need to review your staff training.

  • Kate Alexandra

We came to medicine for brunch on saturday and it was an incredible visit. Coffee was delicious, and our server Libby was incredibly friendly and attentive. She definitely went the extra mile to make our visit lovely! The vegan medicine was my favourite!!

  • Sharifah

I recommended trying the bakery. The Cronuts are almost impossible to cut with the provided cutlery, I hope they consider changing them. Regarding the restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend it for breakfast. I’ve tried it twice with no improvement in quality.

  • Shivali

Amazing food and quite unique in their recipes. Great service and very nice atmosphere to catch up with a close friend. It was fairly quite as the restaurant is somewhat big and we were on the emptier side. We went there on a sunday afternoon.

  • Mike Hawes

We visited at the Mailbox site of the Medicine Bakery the actual sit down restaurant. Wonderful surroundings and marvellous delicious fresh food. Lovely friendly staff. We love the Medicine bakery brand here the decor in the restaurant lovely

  • Miss sonia

The food was amazing drinks amazing, but the service was not that great, I was waiting for 15 mins after I asked for the bill, the lady said she would be back but instead insisted on having a conversation… but I would recommend food wise.

  • Harry H

I came here for brunch and the food was very nice. I ordered the fried chicken and french toast. The service was very slow and the waiter forgot our drinks. We could see our food sitting on the counter for a few minutes but the waiters

  • Kerrth J

Really disappointed with the brunch at mailbox chain. Brioche was dry. No flavour. Had to ask for sauce twice. New St significantly better atmosphere and food was much better quality. At least our waiter was friendly But would not recc.

  • Jay Khan

Walked past today around closing time and the guy working at the front was shouting and swearing at what seemed to be another staff member. This is unacceptable behaviour that needs to be looked into.. staff should not be arguing and

  • Ryan

Another go-to Brunch spot in Birmingham. Beautiful eating hall. Impressive and picture-worthy pastry selections at entrance. Often busy so recommend booking. No disabled access - access via a steep set of stairs to the 1st floor.

  • rajaflavours

Decent time out the food was good. Service was good too. Food was nice the French toast were slightly dry for our liking but the rest of the food was well made and balance specially the egg on black beans with feta cheese …

  • Samii Rahman

Absolutely exquisite! Decor and service is simply wonderful and the food is freshly made an charmingly quaint! I ordered the Eggs Royale, 10/10 and the buttermilk fried chicken is not one to pass up! Would definitely recommend!

  • Kam Kaur

Food in bar was good but service of waitress not so good. We had to wait a while for bill, having to ask twice for bill. We had a doughnut and my daughter a cronut. Cronut very chewy, not fresh. Doughnut was delicious though.

  • Hilary O'Shaughnessy

Really lovely cakes and decor but they never ever have enough staff so you have to wait ages, cos the main server is also the elaborate coffee maker. Had to leave a few times cos I was eating over 25 mins to get a coffee.

  • Chloe Ulett

Food nice, but service really let it down. Had to ask for our order to be taken after being there for over 20 mins, plates were not cleared away either, left on the table until we asked for the bill, won't be returning.

  • A

Lovely food, atmosphere, and service! I came here alone and had a very relaxing visit, the sourdough with poached eggs was wonderful. My Bloody Mary was also delicious. A calming and welcoming environment to be in.

  • Sarah Tredaway

Good location, didn't pre book as early on a Monday morning. Good selection of breakfasts and coffee, we had the full breakfast and a sandwich bap Service was spot on and would recommend, definitely going back

  • Bud G

Went on a Sunday morning. Ideal time for this place. Food was great. I had the huevos rancheros. Brilliant. only not 5 stars due to a significant wait. But it was Sunday, so maybe that was the charm. …

  • Callum Daunter

Had a smashing time at the restaurant on Sunday! Was served by Holly and her warming smile really made the whole experience for me. She is a credit to your team and I wish her luck with her studies!

  • Salma Salem

We loved the food especially the Huevos rancheros Chai Latte was amazing as well. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are all nice and welcoming. Will definitely come back to try other dishes

  • Jesse Collado

Great coffee and excellent selection of bakery and cakes. Probably one of the best you can find around in the city. They also have a small selection available with gluten and dairy free options.

  • Kiran Bahra

The food was great, and great decor. However I ordered a drink which was never brought out to me so when paying the bill I had to ask for it to be removed. I would go back again for sure.

  • Yassir Ross

5 stars for croissants i would give 3.5 out of 5 on everything else of the bakery side. The brunch is rather tasty but a change in the menu every now and then could bring that extra star

  • nicole d

Food was lovely. I had scrambled egg on sourdough bread. Service was brilliant, our waitress was lovely. Not too busy when we went at 10.30 Sunday morning. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.
