Thursday, Sept 20 at about 9-9:30pm visibly upset I stopped by the 44 precinct trying to find my mom and sister who had been attacked by a neighbor and I didn’t know whether they had been arrested or in the hospital. There were a few officers there and some random “not all there” guy asking me weird questions. Not once did the officers say anything to him like leave her alone, etc so finally after they are done chatting then they finally ask can I help you? I explain and all he tells me is there is no one in the jail cells. My other sister had also stopped by earlier at about 8pm and received the same response. Now frantic, I ‘m calling hospitals and they are not there. At about 12am I get a call from a friend who explains that if they had been arrested that after the precinct they get taken to central booking. I call central booking and yes this is where they are! Next day they are released and now need to get their belongings from the 44 precinct! They indeed had been there. Angry now that just a simple response from an officer would have saved me so much grief. All he had to say was “if they were here they would be at central booking!” Anyway, I get to the precinct and it seems the same officer that was there the previous night is there so I say yesterday I came looking for my mom and sister and was told they were not here but here we are picking up their belongings. Thanks for nothing! He tells me you must have the wrong white guy so I say okay maybe I have the wrong white guy but you guys should try and be more helpful. Needless to say after that my mom and sister gave their ID’s etc to the officer for their belongings and he said we would have to wait 10mins, ok. We go seat and 10mins turns to 20mins, mind you there are about 6 officers behind this desk prior to us going away so I go back to check what happen with 10mins now only 4 of the previous 6 and 1 new officer are there. The 2 sorting out my mom and sister’s belongings are the ones gone. The new officer Mr. Perez has no idea what we are waiting for so the ID process has to be done again. He said we would have to wait so I politely said can you please hurry up because we have been waiting for awhile and we just want to go home, they just got out of jail. He got their belongings quickly and apologized. As for the 6 other officers, you officers need to learn how to be more helpful to the community. I’ve always been supportive and will continue to be to all who put their life on the line to protect us but just because this precinct is located in the Bronx doesn’t mean you get to treat people with such little respect. Suggestion to the precinct, when family members come looking for loved ones do some kind of informative handout. Include steps that follow when arrested, like once they are moved from the precinct they go to central booking and include the phone number especially since you can’t be bothered to provide this information verbally! And most importantly answer the phone at the precinct so people don’t waste their time going there especially since no information or help is offered. Reasons like this is why the community has no faith and respect for the 44 Precinct. You heartless officers hurt the few officers that do give a damn about our community! Mr. Perez is the only reason why the 44 Precinct got 1 star! Thank you Mr. Perez.

In my experience, this precinct is run poorly without management, they hire ignorant staff who can not speak English well or communicate (not because they are foreign, because they lack education) and have a serious problem with anger and attitude. I have called two times for help and advice after being accosted on the street, being witness to drug sales and followed in what I assume to be an attempted robbery. When I reported it to the precinct and asked how best to handle the situation I was told by an aggressive female officer that I"m supposed to take out my cell phone and call it in at the time it's happening or else nothing can be done. First of all, I do not carry a cell phone most of the time and even if I do, I tried to explain that when someone is accosting you, it's impossible to say "excuse me, wait a minute, I have to take out my cell phone to call 911". She, the officer, started speaking over me, had no interest in helping me and eventually hung up the phone. These people are not qualified to be police or administrators in a precinct. They lack education, skill, compassion and bravery. The 44th precinct has to clean house and get rid of the majority of the employees they have. It irks me to no end that they wear a badge which represents a tradition of "NYs Finest." This precinct is a travesty. When a constituent calls for help and identifies a danger zone and drug sales, the response I was given is merely a brush off. It says "I don't want to be bothered!" Certainly there are options and she, the officer, could have offered some help and advice. On any given night you can see illegally opened fire hydrants with police standing by for Yankee Stadium traffic and they look away in the other direction. When our building hired paid detail last year for several shootings and stabbings in our neighborhood, the police officer who came to protect us wound up inside our lobby and said "I can't go out there...it's a shooting zone!" They pretended to be uninformed even though we explained the situation before they came. They know the corner where we need protection. They are dumb and useless. All because you wear a badge and say you're an officer does not mean that you are qualified for the job. Many in this precinct are not. The Bronx remains in the condition it is because the elected officials and the police are not responsible. The only thing they cop is a bad attitude!

I was coming back from the Boston area from visiting my son and grandchildren and even though I have made this trip countless times , I somehow missed the entrance to the GW Bridge and ended up in the middle of the Bronx . I was totally lost when 2 very nice people came to my assistance and they asked me to follow them to the NYPD - 44th Precinct -even though it was way out of their way . Two very kind officers also came to my aid and personally had me follow them to the GW Bridge . I will never forget everyone's kindness and helpfullness to a frightened and very lost traveler. I had always heard that inner New York City was kind of dangerous and the people not friendly but I have a complete opposite opinion of NYC . The people ARE very helpful and nice . Thank you for being my angels . I only wish I knew the names of all 4 people who helped me .

Was involved in a car accident less than 2 mins away and it took them over 3 hours to send help. The Station was down the street and they refused our request to drive to the station 2 min away to file a report. Meanwhile we counted at least 20 different police cars drive pass us and not one of those 20 police cars stop to ask us if we were ok. Can't help wonder why there is such a big trust grab with civilians and the police when they can't even respond to a car accident down the street from where they are station. And just incase you think Im lying i posted a pic of where the car accident happened.

Called several times for noise complaints - 0% help People party in the streets w loud speakers 1 block from this police department and they do NOTHING I also don't understand why it's legal for these officers to park wherever they want on the street while the rooftop of there garage (seeable from the 4) is empty. They should have to take the subway or pay for parking like he rest of us. They often close the side street so They can make themselves extra parking (and not for public enforcement vehicles)

Most are chilling in the squad cars Facebook or just really love looking at their smart phones throughout their 'work' day- worst job and overpaid at the same time. The overweight of Spanish descent policemen are the saddest ones- like why even try to argue a 'guy and butt' peace officer. I'll take the ticket sir/ma'am 'thank you' on the other hand the plain clothes/detectives are real hardcore with their 'vigilant' profiling keep up the great work. Powerful.

Well just wanted to leave my opinion of this precinct. I had something occur to me a year plus or so and when I came to file my report the police and detectives were of really lil help. They also used the term " FAGAYZZI" as to say what I was reporting doesn't sound right. I also never heard back from my bank and the detectives never responded my calls nor called me to know how the case was going. I hight DON'T recommend this police precinct.

My brother has been missing for almost a month. Yes he's 41 but I went to them pleading to help me and let me file a missing persons report and to do a wellness check they denied me. They didn't pay any attention to me until I started yelling. That's not my character but I was desperate. That's when they paid attention and came at me. My wife got me out of there before they put me in prison. I still don't have any help.

It's great to have around in the neighborhood, but when my mom went to file a complaint they were not very responsive over at the precinct. She was told to ask for a specific detective but was never taken to him and ignore for trying to ask for help in Spanish. She was surprised by the attitude since outside they have always been courteous and helpful. 4 days trying and she gave ip trying to speak with somebody. :/

Worst class of uneducated weak minded, poor excuse for police these people are the type that will destroy your life with false accusations and lie on their reports because they feel intimidated or belittled instead of handing out a simple ticket. Now two unqualified officers are going to lose their jobs for taking matters too personal, next time just hand out the ticket guys it will save you a ton in lawyer fees.

  • Lanre Olan Enilo I

Affialated with my inciting unruly conduct through profiling of high profile individuals based on familial relations , marriage prospects , and personal endeavors! Also, allows loitering in front of commercial routes unsuspecting of Emergency route influencing! Will keep observant and possibly make a trip to a few community affair meetings if it is the will of God in Jesus Christ name Amen!

When it comes to 311 calls that I have made. 80 percent of them get unsolved. Officer really don’t come, they will close the case a few mins after making them. Many times they will close cases without even making an appearance claiming they found nothing(while I’m waiting for them outside). 311 is supposed to help with quality of life.

  • Jem Jem

the worst precinct in all of New York they are lazy, irrepertuous, when you go to put a complaint they do not want to accept it always something is missing, the policemen who are at the counters are lazy do not want to work they earn it easy that's why there are so many problems because the cops do not want to do their job.

  • Samar Sajjad

Worst precinct ever! I went there last night to file a report about an assault and they told be to come back or call 911 with better info yes we can take file your report but since we don’t have enough info It will be difficult to find the suspect. Very unhelpful and very unprofessional. I’m extremely disappointed.

  • Christopher Rodriguez

These are some of the nastiest, most corrupt, most unprofessional police officers in the area. I don’t appreciate how they treat civilians who aren’t doing anything wrong when they’re a million other really bad things to worry about out there. I wish these guys would literally just go away.

  • Steven Rivera

They do not respect and they act like bullies this is why the Community do not respect them and hate them and if you try to put a complain they will tell you come back 2morrow or say we are not taking any complaints at the moment and they all have a nasty attitude

  • Justice Allah

Came through there in the 90's when I deserved to be locked up. The officers didn't live by any rules in that era, so now in 2016 I can say this department was rogue and operated as vigilantes, their illegal tactics kept the streets safe, even from my dumb a$$.

  • Brittany Watson

Do not bother calling. They do not answer the phone at all. The POs are not very helpful. Instead of assisting people who need help inside of the precinct they are making personal calls, eating lunch, or cracking jokes instead. Worst experience ever.

  • cf w

wouldnt say they are all respectful. called in to get a police report and got some attitude from a female officer... unnecessary and adds to drama.. will be going in to pick up a police report in the next few days. lets see how they behave.

  • Micheal Vargas

Worst precinct ever, very rude no respect at all, even their supervisor badge # 3321. Told me he doesn't have time for me and sat down at his desk 8 feet away from me and started to laugh. Disrespectful precinct period.

  • Juan

Worst precinct ever. Over 2 hours to get my car key. And 2 more hours to take an stupid boot off since nobody knew where the key to take it off was. Not pleasant, they don't even say hi or how may I help you. Nothing!

  • Marlon Diaz

In my point, it's the worst seal that does everything wrong. Which I'm riding my motorcycle just because I wore a helmet. They gave me 5 tickets. They also discriminated against me because of my race

  • Maria Aquino

Rudest officers ever, If you ever want to report something don’t go there, the lady from the office was beyond rude and careless... I thought they were suppose to help civilians... Soo unprofessional

  • Kari

Have been there twice to file a complaint, everyone looks at you like you're from another world, no one knows Spanish at the moment you need help. Attitude is the best thing they have.

  • S T

I tried reaching them to call to check on my mom cause she has terminal illness and they in background laughing and joking and giving me run around cause I am in a different state.

  • Text Regal

Call the police when i needed someone out my house twice @ 10pm and 11:30pm and they showed up @ 2:30am . So what would have happen if that person tired to kill me

  • Rafael Gonzalez

The members of this precinct are very well mannered and helpful. They do a lot of community engagement programs with its community, specially during the summers.
