Normally I don't write reviews, since I try to consider my self and easy going person. However, for the situation at this precinct, I must write a review. This whole experience really make me regret ever going to NYC in the first place, I could have stayed in Florida near nice calm beaches and palm trees. I was visiting NYC for the first time from Florida. Unfortunately, my credit card, cell phone (Iphone), and Florida Drivers License was all stolen. I was told to go this precinct, in my nearest vicinity to report the stolen items. When I arrived, I was telling the officer my situation and he was already dismissive to the entire situation. Being that I'm not from NYC, I am not familiar with the different areas, and address, so he was being extremely rude that I couldn't remember where the incident occurred, I asked if I can get a copy of the report so that I can take it on the plane as proof of my ID. The officer rejected my request and told me I had to call and get the report number and they will mail me one. I called the phone number, and got the report number, but was notified that they do not mail reports and that the officer was suppose to give you a copy of the report. Also, a couple came in very morose and terrified about their situation, I was standing in line, and they just stopped handling my report and was yelling at the couple, this was very UNPROFESSIONAL. I always thought that the officers in NYC being rude, evil, and don't care about the citizens was a myth, since as human beings everyone has their off day, sadly it's true, the NYPD is one of the worst department in the nation.

They clearly need new management. A 4 year old girl was run over and killed. The driver sped off and was stopped a few blocks up the road. A week later, it's all over the internet but she still hasn't been charged. (Probably because, acording to some sources, she is the sister of one of the sargents) When asked why she hasn't been charged the official response was "there is no evidence". There are two separate videos and a dead four year old girl. The car bounced so hard the suspension bottomed out. This was clearly a hit and run and there is a huge amount of evidence of that. It's up to the courts to make that call anyways, not the police officers. The fact that they are refusing to let a judge get involved makes it obvious that they are intentionally protecting the lady who killed a girl and drove away. I find this absolutely horrendous, horrific, and disgusting. Please do your own research, the girls name was Luz Gonzalez. Then call, send letters, and leave reviews demanding justice. We need to make sure these ######## understand that they are NOT above the law. Edit: They even posted a picture of a guy wearing a Los Pollos Hermanos shirt standing behind their desk. This is a fictional chicken resteraunt from the show Breaking Bad. It's actually a front for a ruthless meth dealer who has essentially paid off the police........ And they are wearing his shirt. Seriously, these ####### need to be charged with Ubstruction of Justice and misuse of police powers. This is absolutely apauling.

Had a hit and run about 5 blocks away from the precinct and was told to wait because a patrol car would come by. I waited for just about 2 hours then called my insurance. My insurance told me to leave because the police weren't going to do anything being that no one was hurt. While I waited for 2 hours 5 patrol cars drove by and not one stopped. I called the precinct back and told them to cancel coming. I get a call back from the Sargent at the precinct around 12am (3hrs later) asking if I was still there because he didn't know I left. Apparently the person I called didn't note that I called to cancel. It's insane that it 3 hours after I called back to cancel, plus the 2 hours of waiting after my initial call to get a response and to check if I was still waiting, considering they didn't have it noted that I wasn't waiting!! They are the worst. On the bright side, at least I got a call back even though it was hours later...

My new born baby had his regular monthly appointment today at 1:30pm. We walked to our car and find out someone is double park and would not let me get out since they were not in their vehicle and no where to be found. I called the 83rd precint and the operator was very rude and told me I had NO CHOICE but to wait 30 minutes until the person moved their car! Then I proceeded to tell him I need to get my car out because my new born baby has a doctor's appoinment, He said IT DOESN'T MATTER, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO WAIT 30 MINUTES AND BE LATE FOR HIS APPOINTMENT. This place is a joke! forget about contacting this precint, COMPLETELY USELESS!

I called 311 an hour ago and 15 minutes ago, I got a notice saying that my blocked driveway ticket is closed... Well guess what? There’s NO ticket on the car! so I called the 83rd Precinct Directly... Nobody is answering the phone. What kind of precinct doesn’t answer the phone?? Since it’s NOT an emergency, should I could call 911.p to get service!??

More useless NYPD. Called the precinct for help with an issue, had to deal with the dbag operator on a power trip and being put on forever hold because I called her out on her childish behavior... Probably the first time anyone has dared to contradict her and her self-image was shattered so she was busy crying, but still...

They do not care at this precinct. They will even tell you that themselves. Go to any other precinct but this one. They will be rude to you, treat you like you're wasting their time and will even lie to you, victim blame, place the responsibility on someone else, have you barking up the wrong tree or just refuse to help.

  • Truth above ALL

sadly this precinct seems more concerned w doing nothing than w helping the community. It is sad because the few good cops & Sgt's they had retired after covid knowing this City is the wild west leaving the people 2 fend for themselves

Phone operator accused me of being HOSTILE when they asked me who I was and I answered “a resident? Haha who else would I be?” Then proceeded to put me on hold for over an hour before I hung up. Absolutely useless. Don’t even bother.

I was assaulted and the cops came 5 hours later to pat me on the back. Utterly useless. My dog knows better manners as well.
