If you are looking for a culturally exciting, welcoming and warm motivational church, this certainly is a church for you. You will find an excited welcome team to greet you, helpful staff, and an awesome modern hip environment. The “Worship” experience is an awesome display of pyrotechnics, massive screens, dimmed lighting to set the mood, well orchestrated emotional timing, thumping bass’, and feel good music. The “Pastors” are awesome communicators, culturally hip, funny, enthusiastic and motivational. The service is quite convenient with schedule and timing and the kids rock ministry is an added bonus. Lastly, they offer plenty of life groups that include bbq, business women, basketball and so much more. If you are looking to be motivated, this certainly is the place for you and your family. ——————————————— If you are looking for a Church that exposits scripture with sound doctrine, theological hermeneutics that is meant to equip the flock and go out as the great commission commands…. you will be left empty. What you will find is a seeker sensitive corporate church where the ultimate goal is to fill seats, motivate their attendees with eisegetical proof-text, feel-good, live-your-best-life now “speaking engagements.” This church leans towards new age, progressive Christianity. The Pastor who is certainly gifted with communication, whit, and a sense of humor is largely lacking on his ability to equip the saints to glorify GOD in obedience. The messages completely lack expository preaching that is more closely related to a motivational talk filled with application about YOU, SELF, ME, US, - not HIM. You will start to notice that the messages seem to miss biblical teaching on repentance, sin, wrath, reverence.. while primarily focusing on blessings, joy, purpose, and prosperity. Overtime you will discern that the Sundays are a beautiful concoction of proof-text, surface-level, self-serving messages. The “Worship” you will find is filled with queues and timed chords, lighting, and stage affects to get an unnatural emotional response that rivals a rock concert. The band plays musical lyrics with unsound doctrine that more represents a positive concert and focuses on self, rather than doctrinally sound worship of the The Almighty. You may also get distracted with the lasers, light show, smoke, and 3 giant screens. The corporate growth is at an all time high NORTHROCK NORTHROCK NORTHROCK….. not CHRIST CHRIST CHRIST as they regularly promote their NR brand, tithing, budget, fun life groups, etc. Northrock certainly offers a chance to grow in your faith by getting involved and asking you to serve Northrock. On the surface it’s an amazing journey, which can actively introduce fellowship opportunities, but you will find with time the only focus is on feel good self help books and serving the Northrock Church, rather than serving our true Heavenly Father. You will also find that life groups do not have true exegetical Bible studies. They are filled with self help books (Paula White, Rick Warren, Beth Moore, etc) This church is modeled after The Purpose Driven Church very similar to Church Unlimited just up the road. Please I encourage anyone who has read this, to remain diligent in prayer, study of the scriptures, fellowship with true Christians, disciple others, and be discipled. Glorify and serve God, stand firm in your convictions, go out and share the Gospel. Find a church that exposits scripture, loves the Lord our God, preaches Christ crucified, truly worships HIM alone, is theologically sound, and equips the flock. God bless!

From my first experience here on Good Friday: The church staff prioritizes production and showmanship over encouraging all to worship and praise God. My wife and our young son attended the Good Friday service and were asked to leave the auditorium after our 10 month old son was cooing too loudly. Was told that the staff did not want us to interrupt the mic capturing sound above us for the stream and to disturb the experience for those around us. I could understand if my son was crying or talking excessively, but our son was simply cooing along with the worship songs. I was approached 3 different times to offer the family room to me. I told them I was fine and that I would use it if I needed to. The third time they offered it, I asked them to just ask me to leave if that’s what they wanted, instead of beading around the bush. I spoke to a representative but am not confident that the church will change their position. Rather than prioritizing production and the perceived discomfort of others, they should make sure families and children can participate in worship. We decided to leave after only being there for 15 minutes. Not a great first impression. Edit on 4/12. I jumped on a zoom call with Matt, executive pastor, and had a fruitful conversation on my experience here. I pray that Matt and the team take the feedback to heart and help position the church to better serve and support families with young children.

False Prophet... the pastor (J. Moore) uses God's words for his own agenda. I attended Northrock for the first time, 9/3/23. The service was going very well until the pastor got mid sermon (#2 on his list, which was to see your calling). He began using scriptures to further his plan for a bigger church. He wants to raise $2 million during a week of prayer and a weekend celebration. He then wants to raise an additional $10 million in 3 years. Does it sound like God's will to raise $12 million for a bigger church??? God preached anywhere and everywhere. Never once did you hear about God needing such an extravagant temple to preach the word. His subject for I'm not sure how many weeks is "I Love My Church." This was week 3, and the topic was "Time To Build." Then he asks, "Can You SEE It? #1 was See your future, #2 See your calling. I can't tell you what his #3 was because after hearing most of his sermon talking about how he was going to swindle the church & community out of $12 million in the next 3 years, it had me lost and confused. Even more so because the service started so good, but Satan makes everything feel right until it's not. God will guide you to the truth as long as you place your faith and belief in him.

Our family attended NorthRock for 6 Sundays over a 2-month period. We made sure to hang around after service to make ourselves available to to anyone that might want to chat with us. We also took the first of the 4 membership classes. Unbelievably, over this 2-month period, not a single person engaged us in conversation, or spoke with us. I ever tried to get some questions answered about the church at the "information" desk. However, the lady manning the desk was busy chatting with one of her friends, and, after 10 minutes of waiting & trying to get her attention, we left ... never to return. The pastor is externally sociable, but, the vibe I got from him is that he really doesn't like people. I think he tolerates people, in order to build numbers & advance his ministry. I therefore believe that the [[lack of] welcome we encountered at NorthRock was simply the congregation mimicking its pastor. All of the right "program s" may enable a church to build numbers, but, church ministry is first-and-foremost a people business, and. if you don't love people, you're in the wrong business.

Excellent music and fellowship. Last night was my first time to visit and I felt good and welcomed by everyone. I plan to return soon. I returned and attended a Sunday morning service. Parking is an issue so keep that in mind. I took the discover class and was harassed and pressured into joining a group and volunteer. I have attended the services but am not comfortable being harassed constantly about joining a group or volunteer in a ministry. I haven't been attending long enough and not comfortable with becoming a member. I like the church, the music and worship services but am not comfortable with the harassment and pressure so for me it's not comfortable and probably a good place to attend worship but I'm not comfortable being a member.

My home church. They walk the talk. They are welcoming and really care about you and the city . Their worship team may be one of the best I have ever heard in any church nation wide. Discover Now is an excellent opportunity to engage with your church family . Three locations for the convenience of reaching large areas of San Antonio. Pastor Johnathan and his lovely wife are caring wonderful leaders. If you're visiting San Antonio or you live here this is a wonderful place to worship God and and appreciate the wonderful Christian community. Very diverse and young . Love the energy.

Had a wonderful experience as a first time visitor! My Manager knew I wanted to go to Church ⛪️ and she made a way where I was able To get off early from my shift at the hospital just in time to go home and get ready for their Saturday evening service at 5:30pm! The lead Pastor and family are very talented!! I would recommend this church to any family that’s looking for church home. Location is good and it’s a beautiful church! Unfortunately, as for me and my house, we already have a church home. But I wouldn’t mind visiting again.

My family and I have been going here for 4 years and from Day 1, we knew this would be home. Pastor Jonathan and staff are amazing communicators and very effectively weave the Bible in to our everyday lives and events. NorthRock has helped our family in so many ways. Every Sunday is like an intravenous injection of the word of God and we are hooked!

Everyone here is so welcoming and every time I come back I feel at home. I won’t lie I don’t go to church as often as I should but when I do I always come back here. The music, the people, the environment, it’s everything that you’d want and need when going to church.

At Northrock I have experienced that there are still communities who are genuinely about building God's kingdom and not their own. I have found a place where my relationship with God and other's is nurtured.

It's a feel-good kind of church. They won't talk about things like abortion or anything like that. Their job is to make everyone feel welcome and get as much money as they can in my opinion.
