I have not wanted to write this review because I really love supporting small businesses and honestly was really hopeful that they would work out the “kinks”. This place is adorable. Great vibes day or night. And solid drinks. But bad service will really outweigh all of the positives in my opinion. I came here on their opening day at about 3 pm. They weren’t busy yet, but we still were completely ignored while the two people behind the counter chatted. Okay, the place is cute, the matcha was solid, maybe they just needed to work out the kinks. Came back with my husband a couple weeks later for cocktails and had a better experience. (We also knew the bartender so maybe that helped with the attentiveness). Came back again a few weeks later, sat at a table and had iffy service again. Barely saw our server and it took a very long time to get cocktails. They are craft cocktails so I don’t mind waiting but this was way longer than it should have taken and they weren’t slammed by any means. Here’s where we really went wrong… A couple weekends ago we had a large group of friends in town visiting and we brought them here because we really do love the vibes and cocktails here. I’m not joking when I tell you 10 of us were sitting at the bar and the woman behind the bar never said one word to us for 25 minutes. Not a hello, not an “I’ll be with you in just a second”, nothing. When we finally decided to go somewhere else and were standing up putting our coats on to leave she told us with a very unpleasant attitude “if you want to order something you can come over here and order” (to the front counter facing the entrance where you would order coffee during the day). I’ve been there enough to know you don’t order your cocktails there, because there is a server and bartenders at night. And also, even if that’s what was required, why didn’t you say that when we sat down, not after we sat there for nearly a half hour without service. But regardless it was the worst customer service experience and I absolutely regret bringing our guests there. Giving three stars because I think this place has all the potential and honestly I really hope this review reminds them that you can have the cutest place in town but people will stop going if you provide bad/rude service. I will gladly update this review when/if the service turns around. (:

I am a young music artist staking out the place for my first time. I get there at about an hour before closing (12am) Friday night July 22. I explained to one bartender that I was only there to stop by briefly, and see if itd be a good environment for me to study/hang in the future. It’s difficult finding places to take to study late throughout the week. With that said, two of the three waiting staff turned me away. Quite literally. I was told it was last call, numerous times even after I reassured them that I would not need to order food or drink. I asked the young lady if I had permission to sit down for just a few minutes. (That night I was to meet a business partner downtown, and I wanted to tell her that they would be closing early for the night). I told my business partner that I did not feel welcome there. The young lady on staff then offered to sell me a drink because she said “there was no reason to stay, unless I’ve purchased something”. I told her that I had no problem purchasing something to stay, but I wanted to clarify that is “how they do things”. My goal was not to make them stay open any longer. I had not intention on staying. With that said, this really confused me to be offered a drink after last call. I tried to clarify with her thejrpolicy, and she began to walk away with no other explanation. There were about 4 other people at the bar when I began to explain my confusion to the two bartenders behind the bar. The young lady then interrupts us by saying that she “was not trying to put me out”. I asked her to please not interrupt me. The man who greeted me then proceeds to tell me to “leave because none cares what I have to say. Get out.” When I tell you I have never been treated this way …I was humiliated. I walked past the other people still chilling at the bar, and left with no dignity in tack. How can people treat someone like this? I tried to relay my concern to a manager of some kind, and they refused me that right as well. Needless to say I’ve been crying and depressed from that experience. You never know what people are already going through. That made me feel very small. I will not be back.

I'm a big fan of Parlor and pop in a few time a month to try their ever changing coffee creations and enjoy their atmosphere while on my laptop. I recently had to organize work event for 90 people. After doing a ton of research on downtown establishments with the ability to host a group of this size in a cost effective way, I came across Parlor's event space menu and packages which I had never thought of. Fast forward to our 3 hour buyout last Sunday night and everything was perfect. Their space is the perfect size to host a part of 50-100 as it felt intimate without being constrained. They kept drinks coming and were staffed perfectly to not get behind. They also allowed our group to bring in outside food as their offerings are somewhat limited for groups of our size. One of the most affordable options I found for buyout downtown and having the entire space to ourselves made it the best choice by far. We even brought in live music. Highly recommended!! * side note mini rant: I saw a couple bad reviews about not allowing laptops in Parlor past a certain time as they turn into a bar and music venue at night. I work out of coffee shops every week and know and respect the places that have this policy that usually switch to bar service in the evenings. DON'T be this person. If they have a policy that's clearly posted and you need to laptop in the evening somewhere, go somewhere that this is allowed instead of being that person and being asked not to and then feeling the need to writing a bad review bc either you didn't notice their posted policy or you just went ahead and tried anyway. Just because they were slow that night doesn't mean its ok then in your mind to open a laptop against their policy. Your review deliberately tries to hurt their business through no fault of their own. Be a better person.

The place is truly gorgeous. But the service is the worst I’ve ever experienced in a place before. Myself and 3 other friends went here on a Thursday night to hangout and take some pictures of the atmosphere. We didn’t want to drink alcohol so we all ordered soft drinks and never did I think it would be a problem doing that but apparently if you don’t want alcohol at this place the waiter that works at night with the raggedy man bun and worn out vans thinks it’s an issue. When we all asked just for cokes he said “you all came here just for cokes? That’s it? At a cocktail place?” Then proceeded to ask 4 more times in a rude way like it was an issue not to have alcohol. He didn’t say another word to us even when bringing our drinks to us and saying thank you to him. Then after, no matter where we went or sat in the place he watched every move we made. If this business knows anything good for them they’d get rid of him in a heartbeat. Never would I recommend this place to anybody if you don’t come to drink alcohol specifically because apparently to this guy that’s a huge problem. The guy might do better in a kitchen atmosphere where he doesn’t have to talk to the public.

This place has a real sense of presence. I love how spacious it is, yet has several cozy nooks for a more intimate experience. I went here with my gal for drinks (I did not visit during the day when it is a coffee house). We got a couple of drinks and a charcuterie to share. Everything came out correctly and to order. What really set this place apart, for me, is that the bartender made me another drink when the one I initially ordered was not good to me. I ordered a mezcal drink and it tasted like a leather store. I was not familiar with mezcal and the bartender said he could make the drink with tequila instead, and didn’t charge us for the first drink. Granted, I didn’t throw a fit or anything, they just were like, no worries, we will just get you a new drink and take that one off the bill. Place was clean, the drinks were good. Limited food items, so don’t come hungry/ looking for a dinner. Will definitely visit again.

Went for a business coffee, midday. It was nice and quiet but people were there working. Sitting at one of the living room areas with a colleague and a client felt natural, calm and didnt interfere with others. Background chatter was ambient and not obtrusive. Coffee/latte/tea selections were perfect for a cafe of this caliber. There was even wine available! I didnt stray too far from traditional with a Mocha Latte that was made to perfection. My colleagues chai latte was prepared quickly and there were no apparent complaints. I had a croissant with chocolate that was really good. Would get it again. Overall, staff was friendly and quick, area and atmosphere was spacious; plan to return again with or without clients.

Poor customer service. This was my first time here. I asked the waitress who brought me my tea for some extra sugar and she told me to go grab it from the front. I had to leave my stuff behind unattended, carry my tea with me and walk up to the entrance. I mean what’s the point in having someone serve customers beverages at their table if they have to get up to go grab stuff themselves? Would I have had to do the same if I was seated up in the loft area? She later came back to tell me I couldn’t work on my laptop past 7pm on Saturdays. I don’t recall seeing any signage at the door with this rule. If there is indeed signage, then maybe this should be made more visible so customers know what the rules are ahead of time. Or they should have the wait staff tell customers as soon as they’re seated so they know what the rules are from the get go.

This place has potential to be 5 stars, but after visiting 3 times I’ve yet to have a good experience. The drinks are great, as you would hope for the price. The service has not been attentive at all during the two evening hour visits and even one visit in the morning. When sitting at the bar, I’d recommend acknowledging your patrons immediately instead of 15 minutes of waiting. The live Jazz band on Thursdays are enjoyable, evidently they have 1/2 price from their Instagram, but no one was aware of that special. Saturdays they have a Lofi DJ. I confirmed with their Instagram and showed up on my anniversary as a surprise with no DJ. Very disappointing as we drove 30 minutes. It would be nice to be able to call this place of business instead of having to leave a voicemail in the future.

The concept of a coffee/cocktail bar is relatively new (at least to Indy) and Parlor Public House has set the bar high for those to follow. Their space transforms depending on what they’re serving (thanks to natural and dimmable interior lighting) go create the atmosphere you’d want for the drink you’re having. I’ve enjoyed the drinks and space both as a coffee shop and cocktail bar. Their cold brew is solid, comparable to most others you’ve tried. While I haven’t tried any signature cocktails (yet), I can promise the space will be enjoyable, regardless of if you enjoy the drink you order.

I stopped by Parlor serendipitously as I was going for a walk around my AirBnB and am so glad I did! The inside was one of the coolest coffee spots I had ever seen. I loved the mix of seating options, the greenery, and the natural light pouring in. The baristas were so friendly and welcoming. I loved that I could pick my own “dairy” option without an up charge. I tried one of their seasonal coffees and it was a delight. Even though I was just passing through, if I was looking for somewhere to meet or work, Parlor would’ve been an excellent option. I saw they also had cocktails though I did not try any. Hopefully next time!

A great place to visit during the daytime! The atmosphere is amazing and counter service employees are always polite. The menu is unique (sometimes a little hit or miss) but it’s fun to see what they create each season. I want to love coming at night, but the cocktail service is so poor. I’ve been twice in the last month and was barely able to order a second drink both times. The first evening visit was early in the evening, so we were one of maybe 3 occupied tables at the time and we still weren’t able to order a second drink or our check in a reasonable amount of time. I really hope they can improve on this, but if you give it a shot anytime soon, just make sure you aren’t in a hurry!

Visited on a Saturday evening with a friend and have never been treated so poorly by a server/bartender. The hours are advertised as being open until 12am (midnight). I received my "last call" at 11:40pm; at 11:45 the bartender rudely ordered remaining tables to leave. When I questioned the early closure and stated that I just received my drink (made by him), he dismissed me and stated that he was closing "now." Prior to his abrupt and rude demand for patrons to leave early, he blasted the music so loud it was hard to have a conversation, while also turning on lights directly in our view. Wanted to support this neighborhood establishment but cannot return after this experience.

A coffee house by day and cocktail bar by night! I am only interested in the former, so this review is for daytime coffee experience. Coffee is very good (I suspect they use the same as Calvin Fletcher’s), price is ok. Ambience, space and decor is outstanding, lifts this from 4* to 5* for a sit down coffee place. Glad they avoided my pet peeve and rookie error of sit in coffee served in take away cup, provided nice ceramic cup. *Update: Friendly and efficient service today. I was excited to try one of the focus booths for a work meeting call, but even with door shut it was unsuitable, as music from outside was audible (actually quite loud)

My friend took me here for the first time yesterday...I can't believe that I never find this place the last 4 years I lived in Indy... I love to study at coffee shop, but I like a place that serve food too, also a good view/decoration is a plus....Other than Starbucks I can't find a place that accommodating with coffee and food and close late in downtown Indy.... until NOW Beautiful decorations. Very spacious. We came for drink , not yet the coffee but I love it so much. The drink was good too. Music was great but not too loud so u can carry conversation (unlike the usual bar scene with loud music that you can't talk) I will definitely come back here

As many have mentioned before, this was a really cool spot on the east side of downtown. Personally it was hard for me to this as a coffee shop by day because there wasn’t much space to put your computer on. We came for the cocktails around happy hour and they staff was extremely helpful in finding a good drink. There was only one bartender working, but every drink that he made was awesome. It is a very intimate location and a perfect date spot.

It’s a different vibe than pretty much anywhere else in the city which I really appreciate. 2 stars off for the fact that it’s ridiculously expensive. An americano pretty much everywhere else is $3, here it’s $5. With tip we’re talking almost $7 for a couple shots of espresso and some water. Other things to note - very little to no parking to there’s a chance you’ll have to pay for that too. They sometimes burn candles from penn & beech next door so if you’re sensitive to fragrances it’s probably best to avoid here. Overall - vibes 10/10, experience 5/10.

Whenever I step in here I feel so inspired to make a space with the same feel haha. Its not personally my go-to spot for drinks, and I feel like its always crowded when I go, so I don't get to soak it in. But its a beautiful space! Aesthetic drinks for sure too, but have been hit and miss on personal expectations of the flavors (i usually stick with lattes) I haven't yet tried cocktails yet except for just one... so I can't speak on those.

Sunday study section at this very aesthetic coffee shop. I was pleased by the view! Very nice customer service as well. Music was calm and good for studying. I got the violet b coffee and I really liked it. You can make your own coffee. Although it is a hidden gem in downtown Indy, it gets full really fast! They do not have great parking spot but overall great coffee shop to study or have brunch with friends. I definitely recommend!

Great place for breakfast! Visited the place for breakfast and tried their Gretel coffee, croissant and scone! Food and beverage: Gretel was great! It was a seasonal beverage and might not be available throughout the year! This was really yum and sweet, so if you don’t like sweet coffee skip this! The croissant was too eggy and would definitely skip it! The blueberry scone was nice Ambience: It well lit and quite spacious and you’d love to be here for breakfast/brunch! They too have multiple events there and would be a great place to hangout!

We stopped in to kill time before heading to dinner. My friend had been there before but didn't realize that they serve coffee up until a certain time and then cocktails only afterward. I am unable to drink hard alcohol and was driving so I did not expect I would have anything, but they did offer some lovely "mocktails." And I did order one and really enjoyed it. My friend had a spiked hot chocolate type drink.

This place makes some outstanding coffee, and the space is great to meet friends. I particularly liked the cortado. The taste of the coffee I ordered was excellent, but they also definitely go the extra mile here with presentation. This was my first visit here but it won’t be my last. Everything was great. Be aware that the parking lot is very small relative to the space inside, so plan ahead some extra time to find parking in the area if you are trying to arrive at a particular time.

It's definitely a charming place and I really enjoyed the drink I had. I wish I could say positive things about the customer service. I went there with my service dog who is about 20 lb and always sits in his stroller when we're out in public place. We were greeted at the door by a blant statement of " we don't allow animals here". No hello, no welcome. I showed the waiter his ID card and we were able to sit. He then made a comment that my dog doesn't look like a service animal and asked me if he's an emotional support animal!! Didn't know I had to disclose my medical info to get a drink.

Comfortable trendy atmosphere, thoughtful coffee drinks. My only regret is that I don't have enough time in town to come back for their amazing cocktail menu. I ordered the matcha latte, added vanilla sugar, and it was perfectly balanced, creamy and full flavored. Definitely my reccomendation. I'll be back!!

Modern-meets-mossy setting, excellent multiroaster cafe (blue mind, Fletcher Coffee, and Tinker) with some very exciting coffee mixology on the menu! Also has cocktails in the evening and everything looks put together with an eye to make it all highly "[Insta]gram-able". Gallery Pastry shop baked goods also served. Don't be afraid to try the unusual sounding house coffee specials - the butterfly latte was exquisite (for those with sweeter tastes) and the Parlor shot [espresso shot floated on whole milk] was exceptionally balanced (for the more classically inclined).

I am trying to figure out how one of these can come to Jacksonville because this place is so freaking cool! The decor in here is unmatched. It is so wonderful and accommodating for large crowds. You can sit by the bar, in the main area, in a secluded loft, or even in telephone booths in you need to take a call or have a meeting and need quiet. Not to mention, the latte I had was phenomenal I was more than pleasantly surprised by this Indianapolis gem, and I can’t wait to go back!

Our full team (and many of their significant others) had a blast at Parlor Public House and Penn&Beech. We were a group of 40+ so, in groups of 10-12 we took turns making candles while the others enjoyed outstanding cocktails and charcuterie. The Parlor/P&B team were so responsive, helpful and excellent in their care and service of our group. Everyone commented about how fun it was and a great way to start our (somewhat early) annual holiday party (we're a remote group so everyone has to fly in from around the country). Impressive on all fronts!

I used to love this places when it had ping pong tables and it was actually a cafe. I came in hoping to have a nice end of my busy Saturday and sit down finish some school work.. and they tell me they don’t allow laptops after 7pm! What a way to loose guests and to force the attraction of any night crew that’s looking for something different than a bar. It was evident the staff was bored, uninterested and not busy at all. They had two tables at 8:30pm…. “but we don’t allow laptops we don’t want any business thank you”. So disappointing.

  • Matt mjlg

i’m not sure if it was just today I went on but the staff here especially the cashier seemed really friendly. I believe her name was Maddie. The aesthetic is absolutely beautiful! The place was just a big chatter house it seemed like everybody was really comfortable. There was a lot of diversity as well. I’ve checked out some of the other coffee shops and it seems like a bear library’s and you cannot even make a noise. But this is definitely closer to what I envision a coffee shop should be and what makes me love them so much.

  • Jarrett Adkins

I've been to this shop when it's coffee and cocktails and I will say it's fantastic. The lighting is prefect during the night for a chill drink and conversation or study time. They stay open until 12am on weekends and Thursdays and stop Espresso after 5pm. This reminds me of a rebooted Thirsty Scholar if you're looking for that type of experience. This is an absolutely lovely space, that's why the three stars.I'd ordered the black mango tea and saw them take a container of it out of the fridge and reheat it. If I'm paying $5 (including the tip) for tea, I don't expect it to be reheated. And it had absolutely no mango flavor in it. Also, the staff seemed pretty much invisible and when I did see them, they were just huddled away in one corner. There's a ton of room for improvement here.

Fantastic coffee! I love the drip and fancy pants options. Staff is helpful and friendly; service is prompt. Great vibe here as well, highly recommend! All the above applies on the weekdays. Do NOT come here on the weekend. It’s a flippin madhouse. I snugged in with a family that had an empty seat one Saturday morning only to be notified by staff that our places were reserved for another party in 15 minutes. There was nowhere else to sit, so I had to take my drink to go.

The interior is stunning! I went after 5pm on a Thursday, and ordered the Summer Dreamin’ mocktail. It was very pineapple forward and tasted faintly of a cocktail with bitters. Almost like you get an alcohol taste without the alcohol. When I went there was live jazz music playing, and that made it hard to have conversations as the music was quite loud.

Customer service was very disappointing. The fact that we didnt want to order alcohol seemed to be a problem for the guy who came to take our order. I've come here before and never been treated this way, but today I came in with a few visibly Muslim people and were rudely turned away with a blatant lie "21+ hours start at 5" although it said 7 pm on the menu. Was it our hijabs or was it the fact that we didn't drink?

Fantastic coffee shop, great taste, coffee and food, and awesome atmosphere. I'm not from Indy but would definitely visit again. It was extremely busy when I went, 10am on a Wednesday, but this is the perfect spot for a coffee shop date. It's also quiet and quaint enough to work from

This place is freakin awesome. You feel the calm, creative ambiance when you walk in the entrance. You get the hospital, sincere vibe from the host Angie. After getting acquainted and in a great work/social/tranquil space. Jacqueline gave me theeeeee best OLD FASHION drink I’ve ever had. I’m an artist and this atmosphere has helped me get out of a slump and back into my zone. HIGHLY APPRECIATED and RECOMMENDED!

What a charming place right in Indy's own back yard! The atmosphere is very chill, but also posh. Many people seem to be here to enjoy a cup of coffee and either work remotely, or be visiting with friends. Be advised: there is a one drink minimum to sit and enjoy their space ☕️ In not sure how you could resist anyway! I enjoyed a Violet B latte and a cranberry scone

I found this place because they serve London Fog. ☕ I'm so happy I did because their interior is perfection. ✨ A lot of greenery and earthy colours. Not to mention, the songs played in the background are pretty killer. Definitely coming back when I'm in the area.

This is a lovely event space! We reserved two sections for a baby shower. The catering and food was great. The staff was very communicative, kind, and thoughtful before and during the event. They made sure the space was clean, set up, and went out of there way to provide extra items to enhance the ambience. Definitely recommend holding an event here.

A hidden gem! This place is bright, airy, and spacious. If you're looking for a meeting spot with good food, drinks, and coffee, then this is a great option. I will definitely frequent this place for work and meetings.

When you want to celebrate, decompress, feel relaxed or be present for the moment, just come here. I always get happier when I visit this place. Every employee is very nice and helpful. I’m not a big fan of so called hipster places but there’s something special and warm vibe about Parlor Public House. Plus, every spot of this place is photogenic!

  • Zackary Prince

Parlor house has a beautiful space. I often go on Thursday night when the great jazz band, Premium Blend plays. There's no cover. This is a romantic spot and a great place for a date.

This place has all the cool indie coffee shop vibes complete with green wall. Loved my traditional latte order. Grab a seat for your next work sesh in one of the many "parlors," which are designated groupings of couches and chairs. Or, if boozy cocktails are more your thing, go after 5:00 p.m. for an impressive selection. This place is a gem!

  • Yasmeena Rasheed

My cousins and I (we wear hijabs) came in at 5:30 pm today knowing that it’s 21+ after 7 pm, as one of my cousins is 20. The Australian dude behind the register turned us away saying the menu was “wrong” despite it explicitly saying “AFTER 7 PM.” Mind you, there were literal children running around. It smells like Islamophobia in there.

  • Jean Zipagan

Tried the ice butterfly latte (floral, light) and iced banana mint coffee (banana is subtle, slightly carbonated/like a nitro, no milk/cream). Both fun, the horchata latte was next on the list but they were out. Great space…if you snoop around the corner they have 2-3 focus booths to take conference calls at while working there

  • Review Quest

Such and amazing environment to come and focus or have a cocktail (only after 5pm they serve cocktails). Great relaxing place to study or get some work done. The upstairs is also a very nice place if you want solo time. The Horchata latte is a must try!

Simply put, the coffee and atmosphere are great. However, being as respectful as possible, the people behind the counter are pretentious, not helpful, and honestly kind of rude. Maybe that’s just the coffee culture, but I can definitely say I’m not a fan. I hardly ever leave reviews, but after my experience I had too.

The atmosphere is unparalleled and unbeatable - it is a coffee shop by day and a bar by night. We went at night with some friends but I want to try the coffee later. Quality draft beer selection which is what I had but cocktails also looked good. They played live jazz music on a Thursday evening which was wonderful

As the kids say, this place is a VIBE. I'm not sharing a picture only because I take awful photos and couldn't do this place justice, but just trust me, you need to see it for yourself. The live plants and decor are unmatched, and the espresso is top notch in Indy--complete with a La Marzocco machine! More

I was looking for a good place to sit with coffee for an hour or so and I'm so so glad I chose here-- gorgeous, sprawling space with plenty of room on a late Saturday morning, super fun and interesting specialty coffee drinks, and friendly staff. I wish this place existed back home in Los Angeles! More

Expected better. The pictures make the room feel light and open, but when we got there it was dark and heavy. Not great service, definitely felt like I was just another customer. Coffee was ok, but terrible oat milk. Much better places to go in Indianapolis for coffee.

I have been loving going to Parlor Public House to study and write during my PhD. The coffee is delicious, staff is friendly, and I have to say, I think being surrounded by all the plants/greenery is helping combat the winter blues. ❄️ Highly recommend! :)

Unreliable wi-fi connection. If there are too many people in the coffee shop, the wifi simply stops working. They need to get higher bandwidth or look into fixing this. Can no longer be a spot to come do school or work reliably. Drinks are good though.

  • R Burn

I came here for coffee, so I am reviewing that. The staff are really cool and like craftsmen. They are willing to work with you to identify the drink that you want from the pre-existing parts of their menu (i.e. they let me do a coffee menu hack).

  • Paul C

Went here in the evening, and was really impressed with the drinks and the atmosphere. It’s definitely a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Can’t wait to come back during the day for coffee! What a great space and addition to downtown.

  • Olivia Snyder

Perfect new addition to downtown Indy. Kind of tucked away, so don't be surprise if you haven't stumbled upon it yet. Coffee and cocktails are absolutely fabulous and ambiance is top notch. They've really done a fabulous job with this place.

  • Nicola Roessler

I love this place. The Aesthetic, the interior ,The atmosphere… love it. It’s very laid back, you don’t get rushed out so you can take your time and work there or have meetings and dates there. I’m so glad we have a place like this in Indy!

  • Rachel S

Super super cute place for coffee or cocktails! Loved the vibe and great place for working too as they have three soundproof booths to take meetings in if needed. Appreciate their decaf and non-alc options (untitled art is the best!)

  • Annie Ferraro

Whenever I get the chance to work at Parlor, I always get so much accomplished! The coffee drinks are delicious, the ambience is so chic and the staff is very accomodating! The vibe in Parlor is definitely a must see in Indianapolis!

The coffee was great. The coffee shop was beautiful, but the only issue was that the bathroom and hallway to the bathroom looked like you at a dirty gas station. Other than that, the place is amazing.
