Easily one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in Tennessee. Being from Philadelphia, I am hypercritical of sandwiches, but this went so much farther than the mediocre sandwich. I only went to this place because it’s called Penn Station East Coast Subs. I’m expecting some genuine hoagies. I order a mixed cheese hoagie and they make a cheesesteak… so they had to make a new one and they literally put 3 slices of cheese on the sandwich. One slice of provolone on one side, a slice of American in the middle and a slice of Swiss on the other side. I have been eating cheese hoagies since I had a kid and it’s layered cheeses. I have never in my life seen something so pathetic. The sandwich was almost 13 bucks too so for 3 pieces of cheese I was pretty upset. The bread was skimpy and doughy. Not even mediocre, just all around bad bread. The sandwich was BAD. The fries were ok at best. Didn’t have much of a taste besides salt. They looked really good in the pictures but were very disappointing. Also in the pictures they had cheese whiz and when I asked about it they had no clue what I was talking about. The lemonade just plain sucked. No ice, just warm gross lemonade. For my meal of (terrible skimpy) sub, mediocre French fries and a warm lemonade, it was 28 bucks. After my food was made the kid informed me the company is based in Ohio… I wouldn’t go back here if I was paid to.

Staff screwed up multiple orders including ours, customers were upset with remarks about stuff missing, parts of ordered given out several minutes apart. For our own personal order my wife got her sandwich first and was missing stuff, not a huge deal we got it added back on only to find out it was also missing mayo and honey mustard but why bother giving it back again, she was very hungry and we had to wait to long. Probably 5 minutes later I got my sandwich it was much more bland than normal so I believe it was missing stuff as well but I wasn’t sure what. I had to ask for my fries and was almost done eating my sandwich when I finally got my fries. Another customer came out of the bathroom visibly irritated grabbing napkins to dry her hands when I went to get napkins and she made the comment I’m never coming here again it’s been 30 minutes to get my sandwich and they have no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. I noticed several customers that were waiting when we arrived and we got our food before them but they should have gotten their food long before we did. It’s apparent staff needs some direction and order as I saw other peoples ordered get messed up too and they sent stuff back to get fixed.

Sandwiches are rarely correct. They won't take orders at 8:30pm even on nights they close at 10:00pm. No one at the store ever answers the phone, even during business hours. The owner is very nice and has tried to make things right multiple times for sandwiches with mistakes but the frequency of incorrect orders has gotten ridiculous (and the tickets show the correct order but the sandwich is not what's in the ticket). My family eats at other Penn Station locations across town regularly but the Hermitage location is closest to our house and it's very frustrating that this location has such horrible customer service time and time again. Will continue eating elsewhere but officially have sworn off this location if I'm having to pay for it.

First time here. Sandwich was pretty good, got a a cold Italian on white. Really liked the bread! Not apparently a busy time but staff was really disorganized which kind of threw me off from wanting to come back, but I likely will give it another shot for a hot sandwich. Hopefully behind the counter will be a little more stable. June 2022 visit...I love it when I come into a service related business and just get stared at while standing at the order station. No "hello", no welcome, not even "what can I get you today". Then presented with a selection of chips limited to one kind and ask "is this all you have" and I get "I don't even know where the chips are." Good times. Dropping a star from the original 3.

First clue of a potentially bad experience was when we were told that they had no ice and all drinks were hot. We ordered anyway and got water. The sign on the machine that said no ice looked like it had been on there for a long time. Water turned out to be pink water. Running it for several seconds didn’t clear it up. Two full glasses and both were pink. My wife went next door and got a tea from Taziki while we waited. We got our food and the fries were terrible!! We came here for what used to be great fries. But these were raw in the middle and floppy. Looked like maybe the potatoes were green, too. They just had a weird look to them. And to top it off neither my wife nor I got any obvious mushrooms and banana peppers on the sandwich. We won’t be back.

This place used to be great, but now they have taken a nosedive and it was terrible. The large fry used to could be enough for 6 hunger fire fighters and now it’s not enough for 2 people. I asked the person who brought it out and she said that’s all we get for a large fry. Plus the fries were overcooked and cold. I order a Chicken Parmesan sandwich and the marinara sauce came on the side ( I did not request that ). Since when did you start getting a small cold cup of marinara sauce on the side when ordering a Chicken Parmesan sandwich? This place used to be great and hopefully with some improvements it will be good again.

Mediocre subs at best, and priced way too high for what you get. Ordered a regular club with no tomatoes, (have a light tomato allergy), and no mustard. What I received was a club with lots of tomato, lots of mustard, and no bacon... I had ordered this to go, when I got home and found out, I called and asked if I could return the wrongly made sub, and get one made right. I was told no. If I wanted it made right, I would have to purchase a new sub. My girlfriend's sub was made correctly, and her thoughts on the sub was, "eh, it's ok. But the fries are really good". Learned my lesson, and we'll stick with Jersey Mike's now.

Customer service is alive and well at this Penn Station along with their amazing food. The crew at this particular Penn Station was polite, attentive, and personable. Penn Station makes some of the best subs, period. Their bread is flavorful with great chew. The ingredients are freshly prepared, and the portions are generous. Their fries and lemonade are also some of the best in the fast/fast-causal space. You will not be disappointed. P.S. Try the Big Penn (not a regular menu item). It’s like a Big Mac but in sandwich form and a lot tastier. Ask for it.

Ordered a medium Philly cheesesteak, cookie and medium fries and their Philly smash combo. After leaving restaurant realized they left the sm fries. Returned and got them. Got home, realized they rang up a Dagwood sandwich with no meat just grilled onions and mayo instead of the Philly cheesesteak. Went back . They said they would correct this . Got home and it was a chicken Philly Cheesesteak steak and small fries, instead! Done with Penn Station.

This was my first visit to Penn Station. The place looked clean. I was undecided but the employees were kind and helpful making recommendations for me based on my food preference. You can turn any sandwich into a salad, which I did. The tomatoes and other toppings were fresh. The cook did a great job and had a good attitude. The chicken wasn't over cooked and the plate was well rounded. They cooked the meat fresh right there so it wasn't "instant" but it didn't take them long to prepare it either. If this is the norm for this store, I'll be back for sure. Two-thumbs-up!

Went to Penn Station yesterday 9/18/2021@6:10pm at my Husband's request. We studied the menu upon our arrival, we were excited as this was a new place for us try. Stepped thru the door and nothing. They bald guy at the register just looked. I thought maybe he's busy and he'll address us shortly. NOTHING! I asked " You all don't greet your customers when they come in?" He said "...............Hi". Sadly we left , went across the street to Chick-fil-a were the expectations of customer service are met, if not exceeded upon initial contact.

  • Heather Frazier

Arrived at 8pm on a Friday. They waited until we ordered our sandwiches to tell us they were “out of fries”. There were a lot of potatoes in plain view, so I asked her how they were “out of fries”. The cashier looked frustrated that I asked and proceeded to tell me that by the time they made them, they would be closed-but they close at 10pm. Terrible customer service and took forever to make our sandwiches. Would not recommend this Penn Station location to anyone!

Edit of my original post.: The main problem that I had was that the manager did not allow me to finish my order before telling me he couldn't complete it. I started my order by asking for a 12" sub, a philly cheese steak and I was going to do half with everything 1/2 just steak and cheese. Before I could complete what I was saying, the manager said they don't do half-and-half and that it really never works out. The manager should have been able to allow me to finish my order Before cutting me off.

I had a ruben and it had hardly any meat on it but it did have way to much sauerkraut on it the service was very bad one of the workers was on his phone one of the customers said to me i hope you ready wait thay had been there waiting for 40 minutes also its way over priced for what you get i want be back

Everytime I go my sandwich is incorrect. They fix it everytime but there is always a bit of a wait so its irritating to have to wait again for them to remake it. I always get a club with meat & honey mustard only. I'm not sure why that's hard to make.

I don't know what's happen with Penn Station but they have went up on the price & cut back on the sandwich. I ordered three sandwiches last night (just the sandwiches) no fries, or drinks & my total was $30. That's $10 a sandwich basically & I could have gone to Jersey Mikes & gotten more meat on my sandwich than what Penn Station scrounged up. I'll be back, but I would like a little more food for the money.

  • BLisa D

I just ordered a Reuben and fries and both were horrible. The Reuben was mostly bread with small bits of corn beef scattered on the bread with lots of sauerkraut. The small amount of fries were burnt, refried, hard and bitter. My dog would not even eat the fries. I will not patronize this restaurant again. The quality of food and service has deteriorated.

The vegetarian options are really awful. The artichoke sandwich was tolerable, but not good. The grilled veggie was really bad. The flavors were just bad together. On the upside, the staff was wonderful. But overall, it's over priced, way too salty, our fries were soggy, and it took 20 mins to make our order. If your a vegetarian, save yourself some money and go to a different sub shop.

Ordered online. Arrived a little early and they were not busy. Told my food was getting made. They got a little rush…..still not busy. They forgot about my order sitting on the counter. Now I’ve got cold food and all they say was sorry. Nope not an excuse.

I had never been to a penn station before but this place has now created high expectations for every penn station I go to from now on! The food was absolutely amazing and fresh and the customer service was outstanding! After telling the guy who took my order it was my first time there, he made sure to ask how my sandwich was before I left. Great experience here and I will be back :)

  • Elizabeth Lansden

Do not go here. There were about 200 gnats around the drink machine, and the manager came out yelling at everyone about how, and I quote “disgusting and rotten” everything in the back was. I had to go next door to get food after I ordered.

I think Penn Station East Coast Subs are the best Subs around. The fresh cut fries are just a great plus that other Sub Shops can't compete. You don't have to settle for chip there. We aren't lucky enough to have a Penn Station where I live so any time I pass one I am ready to stop.

I came in to place for a to go order. It was 15 minutes until they closed. The door was open. I was told they were closed. I said you close at 10. Mind you the guy never spoke a word he just shook his head vigorously no. I can understand I came in at the last minute. I literately just wanted a sandwich to go. Would have taken 5, 10 minutes tops! Horrible

Not only does penn station have amazing food....their staff is so nice, professional and good at what they do. I’ve had a wonderful experience every time I go here. They have a customer service way about them that is truly a rare find. They also have a great selection of food and the best subs out there. Kudos to this great business! :)

I grab a sandwich here couple times a month, and I’ve never had a bad experience. The foods great, hot sandwiches, fries, etc. Staff is always professional and friendly. The restaurant itself it spotless. The manager is often there and you can tell he cares. It’s a well run location and I’ll be coming back as long as I’m in the area.

Y'all, Penn Station is the best, and this location is just as on point as all of them are!!! I so wish we could get one in Brentwood. We drive 30min to Penn Stations cause they are so good!!! Very friendly and very clean!!! Highly recommend the Chicken Teriyaki and a small fry (medium and large is sharable).

I've eaten here for years and love penn station. Over the summer I had to leave a bad review because the quality had done downhill. But I'm pleased to report that things are much better now. The people they have working are doing a great job. Keep it up!

I can't believe I spent $18 for a medicore regular sub with small fries, and small unsweetened tea. The small fries were 3.29 and the small tea was 2.69 = $6 to make it a combo....Come on!! Talking about over-priced. Ridiculous!!!

Lots of fruit flies by the drink station and that's pretty gross. I didn't get a drink because of this. Also, the floor was kinda dirty upon walking in. My sandwich (philly steak) was wet somehow and it soaked the bread. Bad experience all around.

Favorite sub chain, hands down. Everything is great, but lately I’ve been a huge fan of the Italian off the grill. Everything meshes together so well and it’s quickly become my favorite place to get an Italian. Order ahead using the app and you’re typically in and out in a minute.

Between this and Lenny's I'll never eat Subway again! This place has delicious food, fresh cut fries, and the best chocolate chip cookies I've had in my life!! Everyone is treated with respect and I couldn't be happier! You guys rock and you'll definitely get more of my money!!!!

  • Samuel Patton

Never had anything bad here. The subs make other sub shops look like subway and the fries are amazing. You get your money's worth, hands down and you will be full after eating here. But real talk, you will wish it wasn't so filling so you could more. Definitely drop by here.

  • R. Mitchell

One of the best subs I've had in a while. The sub was made fresh and so were the fries. I had the Italian toasted. The meat was high quality and very tasty. The staff was friendly and helped me out. The customer service was excellent. I will be returning to this location.

  • Collin Allen

The employees inside don't wear masks and a couple of them told me they weren't even vaccinated. I was also told that their company policy didn't require them to which is why I rated this place with 1 star instead of 2. We're still in a pandemic. Do better Penn Station.

  • Knick Burton

This place ruined subway for me. The food is so much better. The staff is always friendly and no one ever seems in a bad mood. Foods always done right. The cookies they have are amazing, especially if you get em when they are still warm. Could eat this place every day.

  • ALLISON GRAMMER

This restaurant has the greatest sandwiches I've ever tasted. I truly wish they would open one in Tampa Florida. Every time I fly to Nashville when I fly back I get sandwiches to put in my luggage to take home. Even after the trip they are still delicious.

I’m not a huge Philly cheesesteak guy. These guys have some great sandwiches though. Fries are good, but the cookies are the best restaurant cookies. No competition. This location in particular treats its guests right. Give it a shot if you’re in town.

A bit pricey but worth the price. You know it’s good when their fries don’t need dipping sauces and their cookies are the best you’ve had from any restaurant. And of course the subs are amazing and full of variety. Highly recommend it!

I was surprisingly pleased with this place. The hot sandwiches were really good but I this wouldn’t be an accurate review if I did not tell you about the fries. OMG the fries are sooooo good. Crispy, salty and amazing.

Phenomenal service! The little things like remembering your name makes you feel important, in big corporations. Will definitely be coming back. And very quick service compared to every other Penn Station I've been too.

  • Trisha Robbins

The food here is excellent! We especially like the fries. When you order online, they will wait for you to arrive before putting your fries in the fryer in order to give them to you fresh. Great friendly service too.

The Manager recommended a Philly cheese sub on wheat with banana peppers; This was one great sub. Almost went back to get a second one for take home. Great menu, great staff, and a really great first experience.

  • Clayton Clark

A bit pricey but absolutely top notch quality and flavor. All of their cheeses and meats strike me as just better ingredients. Their cheese steak sandwich is killer. Great sandwich shop but not on a budget.
