I've been going to the dogs in America for over 30 years. Sadly I was very disappointed with this place. It doesn't have the atmosphere that I am used to. Firstly this place is small. Orange park in florida is over twice the size. Small track. Only 5 to 6 dogs sun a race whereas I am used to 9 to 10 dogs. Only 11 races whereas I am used to 15. Also one cannot place bets for more than 1 race at a time which means after each race one has to go up stand on que and wait. Back and forth. Not good. Why not allow betting for multiple races so people can sit there and enjoy the race and not worry about betting? Plus people are apt to bet more if they place several bets at the beginning and then add to it later. Pros the food was good. The people working there were very lovely and friendly. The thing is this place is small and the people going there looked hard-core. Not the family friendly place I am used to. To change it would be add more for the kids to do. Something like meet the dogs or have egg races for easter or sweepstakes for the kids to win a stuffed dog or a t-shirt? All in all I went. I played. I broke even which is always good. But I won't go back. It wasn't fun. Not cheering or excitement from the stands. No jumping up and down or shouting for their dog to win. Even the announcer was like a dry mop. Here comes the bunny in a flat tone does not instill excitement. Plus the bloody rabbit had a hi vis jacket on it!!! Never in my life ever seen a rabbit wearing a hi vis orange jacket! Silly really. Is there a danger of him running off track and wandering onto a construction site? Nope. Not going back. Sorry. But unless they make it energised and fun for all and not for hard core gamblers, not for me.

Booked 24 party packs for my son's 21st birthday, was told when booking a drink of your choice.... Carling or WKD is not something I would choose even soft drinks are restricted. Surely you should add to this very short list a glass of wine or 1 measure of certain spirits !!! Also food - Cheese Burger or Veggie Burger no choice there either , no hot dogs available. £10.40 for a vodka and coke wether you have single or double is very wrong, who in their right mind would pay that for a single shot. I had relatives with us from NZ he informed me on Sunday that he ordered a round of soft drinks and was charged £18.90, which he thought was very steep only to find the the next time the exact same round with a different person serving cost £8.90. Something very wrong with your Bar rules here. All that aside we spent a lovely night with friends and family, but I can honestly say I would never book your party packs again, and would advise anyone not to book them also. I look forward to your response to these issues. Lorraine Smith

Totally a let down from the old experience. Upstairs completely empty besides the restaurant part. Staff refusing to let people up there. Manager said its for reserved but no tables reserved up there they were all empty and I looked at website no way to reserve. Then he said I'll allow you up here but it's summer you should be outside. For one I've never used downstairs for two I am unable to stand for long length of times. This area used to be packed with families spending alot of money with a brilliant atmosphere. Such as shame that one manager can ruin the atmosphere and enjoyment of a place. Surely he is losing money for the company. We will not return there again due to his attitude and how empty it was. The bar prices of one single gin of £6 is way over Monmore Prices. Clueless staff. Tvs constantly advertising and not showing winnings straight after. Absolutely craziness in the decisions made. Us and two other families sneaked upstairs like naughty children then was allowed to stay this time. Quoted the manager .

This place is terrible. Not only do you have to wait all day to be served, but the management and even the security there are completely clueless. I would avoid this place at all costs. The security and management are essentially completely clueless, the locals there were also quite unwelcoming. My girlfriend had an awful time due to all the horrible women there that have never seen a woman in heels before. I'm in the process of making a complaint as the management there are completely useless and are incapable of making decisions based on facts. No wonder this place is a shell of its former self, if you have terrible management, then everything else will be terrible. The GM is so very useless, I will be chasing up my complaint via email and calling the C/S but I fear they will not respond as they are happy to provide a terrible experience. The chip shop didn't even sell chips... This place is so very bad, just avoid it.

Had a voucher for 2 people for £8 including a drink, a burger, a £2 tote bet and a programme each so went along this Saturday night. Thank god there was a voucher for drinks as they should have been £4.20 for a carling in a plastic cup. Didn't fancy a burger so opted for a hot dog instead which cost an extra 50p but what the hell, I was already getting a cheap night, right? No onions, burnt sausage, didn't want to take it back as I think the catering people were sharing a brain cell that night. Only 2 bookies outside who were offering the crappest odds you could imagine. The only good thing to come out of it is the 2 winners I had on the night but I will not be going back. Oh and the really lovely black guy on the car park who was really friendly.

Visited this place on my 57th birthday last night and I was told by the glass collector when I asked that the bar would be open until 11pm which was fine. I went to the bar at 10,45 and was told it was closed because there wasnt many people there which i find absolutely staggering after i was told it was an 11oclock closing. I find this absolutely amazing that a flick of the lights or a ringing of the bell would represent a closing of the bar so people could get last rounds In but staff including security just seemed to be interested in getting off the premises ?? Absolutely ruined my night so thank you Perry Barr dog track will not be returning after visiting the place every other month for the last 5 years cheerio

I was looking forward to this so much but have to say it was one of the worst nights out I’ve ever had even though I didn’t have to spend a penny because it was paid for by one of our very generous subcontractors. I feel very sorry for him as it has obviously cost him a lot of money but it was a disgrace. We waited over an hour for our drinks we ordered as soon as we arrived. We waited an hour and a half for our starters and had to order them twice. Please avoid at all costs, they have no idea what they are doing. On a positive note, when we did eventually get our food it was very nice, shame that the service was so bad with very little organisation.

Free to get in with a programme ..if u get code online saving you £8 pp .. whole place clean n tidy disabled access available everywhere with a lift if you are going upstairs , first race starts at approx 7.30pm .... doors open at 6.30pm.. go half hour early to park on the onsite carpark as this does get busy.. food and drinks very expensive especially if you have a family with you £4.50 for a hot dog .. £4.50 for a pint of lager in a plastic cup if you are outside next to the track.. there is a restaurant upstairs if required but im not sure if you need to prebook tables.... all in all a really good night out though and good fun

  • Phil Atical

Enjoyed evening just shocked at how expensive restaurant food is. If you book say just a mains decide you would like a dessert you are then penalised charged extra £5 per dessert and then cost dessert ontop. My partner ordered a sundae and plate of cheese crackers both come to £16!!! This is ridiculous especially after paying £8 entrance fee buying drinks etc My expierence was spoiled by penalty charge of £5 per dessert. Quality food was Wetherspoons standard not Michelin Star. Review your food and charges its brexit era. I wont attend again.

  • scott kelly

Booked a meal and racing package for 5 people on a saturday night and really enjoyed it.Three course food was decent for £28pp, view was excellent. You can place the bets at the table via table service, and payouts are at the table as well. The waiting/drinks staff left a lot to be desired though, almost as if theyd never took an order or poured a drink before. Best to go to the bar if you want the right drinks. Other than that a fun night.

  • Martin Powell

Lovely night and a singing barman. I gave four stars because there was no mustard to go with the food. When I asked I was told that not enough people want it so its not worth ordering. Tell me anywhere that does not sell a burger without mustard. How much does a a box of 200 sachets cost with a years date. Such a shame that something so trivial should drop a 5 star to a 4 star.

  • amy hossack

Brilliant night out for all occasions- birthdays etc with friends or family. I would advise getting there early to get a good window seat, doors open at half 6. Races all run on time, staff are friendly and helpful if you are unsure with how to place the bets. Bar upstairs and downstairs, food available. Can also stand outside and see the races. Carpark can get very busy.

  • Charlie Debley

From the outside it doesn’t look all that good but it was a really good night out. I thoroughly enjoyed my night out. The drinks did taste a bit watery. The night was very good seeing the old fashioned bookies was great and picking the better odds was fun. It’s not somewhere I would go every weekend it would be a bad habit. However once in awhile it is a good night out.

  • James Kernan

Amazing day out with great staff and a friendly atmosphere. We got winning deal tickets which included access to the race track a free pint and pie mash peas and gravy. The bar staff was extremely friendly and is a great singer. The price of a pint is 4.50 which is a bit expensive but your on a day out. Easy accessibility from bus routes will definitely go again.

  • Kenny Lees

Nice night out good do with little TLC but not bothering punters.bar snack bar can have a meal in one area and private box for around 12 poeple can have food to .we had 2 box room s put in to one for 24 poeple with a buffet put bet on there and great big window overlooking the track . few quid in with a book of races.car park.good night we bet reverse forecasts.

  • Andrew Green

Great night out. I'd never been before and am not much of a gambler so was a bit apprehensive, but I needn't have been. Very friendly be place. Kids welcome and love to see the dogs. Bets are easy to follow and are in the free program they give you at the entrance (I was a natural by the end). Just get there early if you want window seats near the finish line

  • steve taylor

Track appears to be struggling to get back to it's old self. I know alot of the old regulars were put off by all the red tape trying to get entry. This seems to have been rectified as i had no problem getting in Bank holiday Monday. You can now place a bet with the tote, but there were no on course bookmakers on track. On the whole it was a okay visit.

  • barry smith

Very poor service, Young man introduced himself as our bar waiter, never saw him again!! Do not have the Balti option as it is awful. Luke warm very greasy and small portions! Popadoms also covered in greese! Best part of evening was the young lady taking our money for bets always smiling.(as we lost) Love the dogs hate the balti and service!!

  • Tom Robbins

Had an enjoyable evening here, parked on the stadium carpark. We had booked a meal which was very good and brought to our table. We had a great view of the dog track and were seated opposite the finish line. You get a race program and your bets are collected from your table and your winnings are paid at your table. All very well organised.

  • Andy Stevenson

The staff were lovely. The chips were decent, the burger wasn't. The betting was a total rip-off and spoiled an otherwise really enjoyable evening - I correctly placed 3 dogs in 3 races and walked away with a loss. I'm still shocked, I've never had a betting experience like it where the odds are so stacked in favour of the bookie.

  • Jay Bansal

Booked a table for 10 people for my brothers birthday, 5 of the meals were burgers every single one of them was roar, the wait for the food was ridiculous…. The waiters are so polite but they are understaffed and its a strain on them nearly three hundred pounds for this and it’s disgusting… would never come back here again

  • Jamie Goodwin

Visited Perry Barr Stadium many a times over the years, generally a good experience with a good level of service, only critique would be that there is not enough members of staff on the tote desk processing bets, especially on a Saturday evening. Service at the bar was quick, although very pricey to say the least.

  • Claire Stevens

Great night out for all the family... burgers and fries are good... you pay for what you get. Best value is the Groupon voucher! Car park is a little tricky and a little more signage wouldn't go a miss! Especially if the overflow is full.... it's not easy to find the main car park due to the one way system!

  • Maxine Cullen

Went to a speedway meeting, it brought back a lot of fond memories of when I was younger, at the old stadium which is now one stop, and other speedway tracks in the Midlands which are sadly no longer in existence. It's a great sport attended by families and fanatics, and no idiots causing trouble.

  • Michael Barker

Not been to the dogs for bout 18 years last time Hall Green very impressed with Perry Barr our group was made very welcome they looked after our wheel chair guests food and drink very nice brilliant service and putting a bet on so easy and nice to hear a brummie twang definitely revisit next year

  • Angie Pike

I have been to Perry Barr several times over the years. Last night I didn't enjoy it and won't be returning, to be which is very sad. The drinks were very expensive. Didn't like the choice of free drinks. The food was discusting and had to wait ages to be served which meant we missed a race

  • Eva Fripp

The guys went Sat 1st Dec as a party of 8 with Groupon Vouchers, they found that bitter was not included with the voucher, only lager which is more expensive? and only one of them drinks lager, plus 5 of them didn't get a burger as they had run out and offered chips as a replacement ....

  • Anthony Ferneyhough

In my youth I used to watch speedway and banger racing long before the dogs appeared. Been a few times to watch the greyhounds race - such superb animals. Good service in the restaurant not only providing okay food but graciously taking your money for incorrectly selected dogs !!! Hahaha

  • Michael Cole

A pleasant evening. The restaurant has a good view of the track. When you book you get a table for the night. Food is adequate. Nothing wonderful but perfectly acceptable. Drinks can be ordered from a waitress or you can get them from the bar yourself. Bets are taken at the table.

  • Jane Mumf

Greys whom don't make the 'grade' or no longer suitable for racing/breeding are turning up in China Asia & Mexico's dog meat trade,, frm here in UK (tattooed ear numbers) where they suffer prolonged torture before death. Plz do not support dog racing You bet - They Die!!

  • Mark Smith

Not too sure they're doing the payments on the slips right so if you gamble like me it's a bit expensive but if you're there for enjoyment and dont intend on drinking too much, it's okay. The payments bit is because they dont pay your stake back which I'm sure is wrong!

  • Jeremy Wisner

A great night out. Nice food in a pleasant atmosphere. The races happening every 15 mins means there is never a dull moment and so the three hour race meeting just flies. Going down to trackside after meal gives another perspective again. The dogs are just magnificent.

  • Amanda Barwell

Good night out service in restaurant wasnt great we was a party of three tables 2 of our tables had finished eating before the 3rd was served and veggie curry well omg talk about tip it out of the jar and throw some peppers threw tasted like neat sauce from a jar ...

  • Kay Prestidge

Excellent quality food in the restaurant and the service is impeccable. Really realy lovely staff whether serving food, drinks or taking bets. Excellent price for what you get included in the resturant package. Would definitely recommend as a fabulous night out.

  • Carolann Maddox

We go for our Xmas "do".. the food is good and it's nice to have a bet and a bit if entertainment. Go for the restaurant package. Xmas 21 wasn't as good. Food was very slow and not very hot when it got to us. But maybe a lot of staff were off with the Rona..

  • Josh Walker

Great Experience, first time I have been to the dogs and can't wait to go again. A group of 10 of us went and the staff were helpful even though half of us didn't know what we was doing. Perfect to start the night off before moving into Birmingham nightlife.

  • Stephen Williams

Went to watch the Birmingham v Leicester , Speedway meeting. Great grandstand to watch the meeting indoors in comfortable surroundings . Viewing areas outside . Food and drink on sale is great . Speedway track provides great racing . Car park at Stadium.

  • karen grindrod

Seems to have really gone down hill the restaurant, booked a table Saturday night , waited over half an hour for the drinks took 2 attempts to get a 4 drink order right .the food was another mission of a wait, 2 had the sou was cold ,the

  • Andrew McDermott

The night was good, the booth was outstanding. I didn't win. But that's the fickle thing with gambling, you may win you. But more than likely you will not. The food that was provided was okay. I'd recommend it for a different night out.

  • Mike Parsons

A great night out (we had a set of vouchers for included entry, food/drink and a bet). My first time at the dogs and lots of fun to be had. Only criticism would be the queues for the downstairs bar which didn't seem to move very fast.

  • Peter Davies

Good night out at Perry Barr made better by the use of a Groupon voucher giving us admission, a pint and a burger for £5 each. Staff all really friendly and venue not in bad nick. Shame about my ability to pick a winning dog though!

  • Alan Knight

Great night out at the dogs, friendly staff, nice curry buffet and great view from the box. A couple of small gripes-the room was roasting until they sorted out the air con and initially they didn't provide enough cutlery.

  • Andy Richardson

Changed a bit since I last went. Only one bookie and cash only. No cash point. Beer is just under a fiver a pint and five to get in. Race cards are two quid. Quite quiet when we went and only say racing on a Saturday now.

  • Dennis Gourley

It was the 1st time I have ever been to a speedway meeting and it was fantastic. I urge everyone in Birmingham and surrounding areas to get behind them. It is family friendly and great value I will definitely go back.

  • Brad Mitchell

Nice place, staff are friendly, we used Ladbrokes to place our bets. It was our first time visiting and it was a nice experience on a Saturday morning race. A lot of locals and regulars there, not many first timers.

  • Kirstie Burns

First time I've been and I enjoyed it, never managed to have any food as the restaurant was really busy could do with more people working the restaurant to help with the queue of people that were waiting for food

  • Jonny Jameson

£8 to get in???... not sure why you have to pay to go there but you do...coffee was more expensive than Costa and it was cheap nasty stuff out of a machine... apart from that it's ok if you like a flutter...

  • Anthony Hazell

A great night’s entertainment. If you get a wining deal ticket, you gain entry, food and a drink at the bar for £12. The barman sings and entertains as well as taking your bets and serving you drinks.

  • Scott Andrews

Was a great night. Mix up with the booking (not their fault) but lost a star because it wasn't dealt with very well. Would definitely go back for a corporate event or party though was great fun.

  • Stacey Morris

Good atmosphere but the food from the burger stand is appalling and not worth the price they are plus you normally end up waiting half hour for it.. better off to go upstairs in the restaurant.

  • Gavin Watermytrout

Imagine using another living being that can't tell you if they want to do it for entertainment of rich white people. This sounds like diet colonialism, what civilzed country does this to dogs

  • Pamela Skidmore

As an owner of a dog running tonight ,wasnt allowed upstairs ,had to slum it downstairs,i will not be entering any of my dogs again, you need to look after trainers and owners.william skimore.

  • Lesley Cassell

This is the 'home' of Birmingham Brummies Speedway team. Great family entertainment. Prices really good especially for families. Wednesday night currently Speedway night. No brakes No fear.

  • Regina Phalange

Awesome night enjoyed by all the family (7-55) nothing wrong with the food from taste to portion size. Service was attentive and friendly. Buzzing and tired after all the food and Bailey's!

  • COLIN JUDD

Wat a dirty coocked plalacecthis is. Got onl know s. Wat 100 per cent mugs go there the trainer ar at all to geather. If you can pick a winner I’m totally wrong one. Word crooked. Be told.

  • Nigel Overton

Enjoyed my evening at the dogs, didn't win a thing though! I've given this place only 3 stars because drinks are very expensive (diet coke £3.50) and to be fair, it's a bit of a dump...

  • Bruce Cornwall

The food was too expensive and tested disgusting, drinks, lacquer ECT. not worth it, the dog racing itself was enjoyable, the parking was on dirt also cramped. I will never go back.

  • Mike Kelly

Good track condition unlike some tracks I know of. St Leger today a good afternoon out with Irish dogs winning. Easy to park and good viewing from upstairs restaurant and bar area.

  • Mark Shipton

Good fun, nice atmosphere, friendly staff but not the best food (to say the least). As long as you know what to expect and you are ok with dog racing, you'll have a good time.

  • Steven Reeves

No where near as good as Hall Green was.. The food was OK but its a very expensive night and there's not enough races so very disappointed.... Bring back Hall green plz

  • Gerald Moore

On the night we went they had a reduced card I've only 8 races, the beer was like vinegar and very expensive, the food was excellent I would give that at least 4 stars

  • Simon Redwood

Shame not a great turnout brunch was ok changing suppliers so no guineas on tap limited drinks no crisps or nuts ...a bit disappointing ........only one winner …

  • Kelly Bacon

Great night out with my family, atmosphere was great! Went in with a wowcher deal...Great service and brilliant atmosphere, definitely go again! Well done to staff!

  • Alex Hulton

I've bet on greyhounds all over the world and have never been ripped off as much as I have here. They work on a pool system that pays less than half of the S.P.

  • Beverley Parmenter

Great night out. Plenty of seating. Staff friendly and helpful. Family friendly. Sad that it wasn't packed on a Saturday night though. Use it or we'll lose it!

  • Tony Evans

Quite sad really if wasn't for our works party being there a night at the dogs would have been attended by 12 people !! A good facility being underused . …

  • Craig Rudge

Foods terrible and the bar staff are a joke they have no manners and a clue what they are doing. Also £4.50 for a pint of carling in a plastic cup is shocking.

  • Stephen Saunders

On the day it ommered down brum speedway used there head no parade no interval just got on with it well done to the riders as well great nights entertainment

  • Peter Hulton

I have been going to greyhound meetings now for 55 years both in the UK and Australia and have never been ripped off as today by Brit Bet...Just wrong☹️

  • active mind lazy body

Was a good night out . My party and myself had a good time but the food is microwave burgers and chips . The bar was fairly priced for drinks though .

  • ronald griffiths

Dogs are amazing to watch. Not ideal place for children even though they are allowed. Lots of drinking and cheering kids loved the dog not the people

  • Richard Doughty

Very disappointed us to be a grat night but gone down hill food no good and long queue for bar Will not rush to revisit sorry only speak the truth

  • Pablo Latets

I was happy with everything. I have bet 30£ and won 30£. Doggys were awesome. We had some lunch and couple of beers. Good fun for friends i guess

  • Martin Gribbin

CASH ONLY!!! Good night. But cash only confused me. Had to run to Asda (10 min walk) to find a machine to get cash. What decade is this again.

  • Judy Sta

I went to the Speedway not the Dogs. It's a family friendly sport nearly every Wednesday at 7-30. Gates open 6pm No Brakes, No Gears, No Fear.

  • Luke Blakemore

Brilliant place to go to for a bet or 2. Had loads of fun. The alcohol could be a little cheaper, that's why the 4 stars instead of the 5

  • samantha scrivens

Lovely night out but the food from the cafe downstairs leaves a lot to be desired, other than that though it was a really nice night out

  • Geoff Page

Both Speedway and Dog Racing a good night out. Christmas evenings a good night to watch out for. Take a box or a seat in the restaurant.

  • Rob Lawrance

Spent an afternoon here at the weekend. Company was great. Good atmosphere. Not many people there. Beer prices were a little expensive.

  • dannyt england

Done the restaurant side offer, great food, decent drinks and the bookies come to your table! Great night out will be returning shortly

Had meal in restaurant 18/3 food good great views of racing great night even if one of our party cheering wrong dog on will go again

  • Terry Middleton

Great place to visit, both staff & fans were very friendly and helpful, just a shame about the water shortage, on the track anyway!

  • Mike Branford

Absolutely freezing! Not the venue's fault tho. Decent burger, booze is poor and overpriced but the evening as a whole is worth it

  • Jim T

One of the most up to date tracks I have seen in the UK. Looks good and the food was better than I expected. Very friendly staff

  • Jo Reynolds

Fab experience. Great night out. Great atmosphere. Dog welfare was 100%. Well done Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium, and thank you.

  • floyd carter

Great family night. Food and drinks plenty but are a bit on the steep side. Can stay inside under cover or outside if you wish.

Good night out on a Groupon deal including a drink and burger. Additional drinks very expensive and served in plastic glasses

  • Mark Robson

First time here, won't be the last, really great experience, children more than welcome, staff ensure you have a good time.

  • Karl Maguire

Had a good night in the Grandstand restaurant. Food service hit and miss but found all the staff very friendly. Great fun.

  • S K Yau

Finding parking is not easy , usually quite fully occupied. This place would hold different activities such as job fair.

  • Peter Gibson

On a wet night it was good to have a private box. Was fun I can't bet to save my life. The curry provided was tasty too.

  • Steven Mcdonald

Boxes are good not big but for a dozen or so OK staff were lovely as I usually not a dog race goer was summit different

  • Keith Pacey

Being in middle of a poor area needs to be done up and sorted out. Lots of history iconic place. Tis a shame …

  • Nila Petch

The company should be proud of the staff that work here. Every member of staff we met were very helpful and polite.
