Absolutely shocking, disgusting staff with cero manners towards they're clients and clients customers, let me explain: Today around 5.10 I went to get an item I needed from The retailers PoundLand in Birmingham City centre. My self an another 25 plus customers witness the way Martin (the security guard) spoke to other members of staff employed by PoundLand, he shouted at them telling them what to do in a very disgusting way an dit really upset me, Martin was talking to them as if they were animals, slaves). So I decided to approach Martin in a very polite manner and asked him for his name, he then asked me why and I explained how I felt... I was wearing my work uniform which is a navy blue suit and he told me to take my suit else where and to get lost (he got extremely close to me) to the point that I had to say if you touch me I will sue you, he then backed off and walked away. I've spoken to the PoundLand manager which at the moment of the incident she wasn't present and she understood and apologised for the inconvenience. This security guard called Martin, he's extremely aggressive for absolutely the minimalist reason. I will also be speak to PoundLand Hq tomorrow as I felt threatened by his behaviour.

(the security guard) (mitie worker) and co-worker. stoped me on way out of shop spoke down to me. Ask if I need help in very rude manner. I went in to the shop to look for am item. That they did not have after looking around.(looking around at other items as you do when you are shopping or thinking if needed ). So went to go as decided did not need anythink els...I have worked for mitie in the past myself every good company. Think they need some training on how to speak to people .Hell felt as if i was beening approached on the street by two yabs . More than a security guard. :( Not a happy potential customer. Only went in as was pasting by in the city i once working and loved. Not been in to the city centre for a couple of years now very disappointed with the feel of the place.

I never come here to buy anything but always leave with a full bag because there is always something that interests me and even if I dont need it I will still purchase it and put it away hoping to make use of it. They have crazy prices on so many things like power banks for £1 and charging cables for £1 and so many different stationary items including packs of pens, markers, canvases, pads and many craft items that usually cost a lot more than a £. Also tools. I was surprised at how they are able to sell things for £1 which clearly costs more than that to produce! Toiletries, snacks, kitchenware, too many to list. Thanks and Good Luck

Pretty much your bog standard poundland, not as good as it used to be and generally the shelves are only half stocked and don't ever seem to have what I need, so I avoid the city centre ones. Also, don't be fooled into thinking that because it's a pound that it's a great deal... Things like toothpaste are usually a smaller size, I've come to realise, and I tend to now look for the special offers in supermarkets as they sell the full sized ones for the same if not a little more. I am a fan of things like seeds and bulbs for the greenhouse and the little gagets they often sell which do come in very handy.

(Thursday 22nd December 2022) Exactly 1 year ago to date, (Wednesday 22nd December 2021) I went to this Poundland. At the Poundland I attended I attempted to purchase the mini turbo cutter (folding knife) and I was refused sale due to not being of age even with an adult present. I was treated as a shoplifter and followed round the store while I was still shopping even after choosing not to get the knife. Today I went to a different Poundland and got these knives with an adult present. Have that one Poundland! I hope this Poundland is shut down and turned into something else.

  • Christopher Whitehouse

A really good place to buy all sorts of things from, all at bargain prices. I purchased a lovely Chrismas light for £9:99 it has multi coloured fibre optic lights and changes colour very gently so wouldn't cause any problems wi th people who have epilepsy who have problems with flashing lights. We also bought lots of Christmas ornaments to compliment all the hundreds we already have. A brilliant place for lots of necessary and unnecessary things. Paracetamol at 19p a pack to relieve your stress headache from Christmas shopping.

  • Adam Treanor

Worst Poundland the security guard is rude needs sake for the way spoke to me a accusing me of stealing when I never and then let me go saying you best not have been and saying he was watching me on camera if he was watching he would know I did not steal anything. Thais was today 17-04-2023 at about 18:10 I want this to be looked at as it’s not on at all it’s a joke I won’t shop Poundland again after this. Plus the wait for a till was so long it’s a joke that’s why I left worst Poundland I have ever been in.

  • Cindy's Fantastic news

All the workers there are really kind, follow social distancing rules and are willing to help you at all times. You are probably going to find what you are searching for. I went to buy some earphones and settled with the stereo ones they work really well (edit: they broke shortly after being bought) and and have a 1.2metre long cable. The shop layout has also been changed which sometimes makes it harder to find the things you are looking for this means you may have to ask workers where things are located.

  • Vikas Bali

Store closing at the door clearly stated that store to close at 6pm Christmas Eve yet staff refused entry to customers from 5.45-5.50pm stating staff wanted to get home. They wouldn’t get away with this on any normal trading day. All I wanted was wrapping paper which was near entrance of store. Spent good 10 mins with security guard which could have been spent walking in and out of store with the wrapping paper. Ended up buying 3 rolls at a rival store for the price I would have paid for 1 at poundland

  • Jose Roldan Ortiz

One of my favourite places for buy things for the day by day. Really good prices in everything and they have lots of useful things for the home. Also clothes, food, drinks, books, cables, etc. With the autopayment you don't need to wait more than a few minutes in the queue. About covid safety they have hand sanitizer and most of the people inside are using the mask. Totally recommended if you need accessories for home or need some cheap food, also they have pet food a better price!

  • Helen Parry

A nice big store so popping in for just a few things is going to be out the window. We were greeted at the door which was lovely. The shop appeared to be clean and tidy. The halloween selected was fangtastic! Great for the purse. Loved the Christmas Gonks and I know others did too. Lots of choice in the shop this is why your not going to buy a few things. Staff at the self service were happy to help also. Great store all round .

  • DJ TopKat

With the name one would think everything is a Pound but it's not. Most quality items are over a pound lol Out of all the Staff there's only one that's willing to help the rest find it amusing to send you in the wrong direction to where the item is your looking for. Used to be a good store but the staffing some what lacks in customer training. I'd rather go to one of its competitors

  • Daniel

First, the self service machines can go where the sun doesn't shine. Second, staff trying to close manned tills and send me to them. With an attitude too. Third, lack of actual staff, you have any idea how easy it would be steal every item I shopped for today? How hard it is to find someone to ask a question? Get rid of the cruddy self service and get some real people in.

  • Albert TANG

It has already a year ago but I still badly missed Poundland. The service we enjoyed here; the surprise we discovered here; the bargain we obtained here; are fabulous. Those were really memorable and always in my mind. Especially everytime we came here there were new items and each time we spent more than we expected, though it was worth of it!!!

  • Sameer Mustafah Raza

Very busy; rude attitude from certain staff when you ask them questions where's this and that. The place is a mess and they do not care about health and safety regulations in the workplace. The only good thing is its name but now that seems to be very misleading as I have seen products being charged at £2. To me this is false advertising!

  • Zayan Mustafa

Personally doesn't make sense to have two stores of same brand side by side. However, it is marketing strategy cz this way they have kept the competitor unable to compete with competitive location. It is a nice reasonable size store with lots of products. It could be better to have more staff so at least can find one person for assistance

  • Krishnan Radha (Aarkay)

Poundland super market which is located in Birmingham city , here you get major of the products with lesser prise 1-2 pounds kids product. Product prices are really cheaper and reasonable. Product quality is upto the individual satisfaction. NO fresh vegetables & Fruits available at this store. Self pay and counter pay both are available

  • Shirley Patricia Cooper

I get most of my stuff for craft workshops and #bagsofhope here. Before and Between films I buy food and drink here. One disadvantage is if you don't buy it when you see it it may not be there when you come back. Years ago someone gave me £40 to buy Christmas presents for his ex-wife and kids. I totalled up real prices at £200.

  • Hina K

I would really appreciate if there were no shelving changes everytime i visit. And a few more kiosks would really help in making quick exit. Can't dream to visit in rush, and I am twice a week shopper. Products are amazing though. Waiting for getting some variety of embroidery and stitching stuff as well.

  • Natalie

Normally I would give this store a 2-3 out of 5 stars but today I was blown away by the customer service from an assistant by the name of Aisha who over and beyond her role to help me find what I needed to purchase today seriously from the bottom of my heart "Thank you Aisha" you a credit to your store.

  • Goldielox Miah

The place is huge. Alot of items. Extremely busy. The security has brought this rating down. Really rude attitude in the way he approached me. Kindness goes a long way that's all I am saying. Everyone had their heads down and not approachable at all. 3 stars for the store not anyone inside.

  • Samar Iqbal

Great store, but its staff do it NO justice whatsoever! Prices are NOT a pound as you will find the shop’s name is very misleading! Security love to follow you around, if you don’t fit their description as how a customer should be. They are more judgemental when there is more than one.

  • Vasilis Giotsas

For a Poundland store it's good, it's quite large and had tills at both ends of the store so you don't have to walk all the way to the other side of the store. Finding the product you are looking for is hit or miss as they don't always store the same products.

  • David Holmes

It's a fairly big poundland, the aisles can get busy. Not everything is a pound though. What let's this shop down are the staff - they're not helpful and if you require assistance to find a certain item they'll just point any direction, not helpful at all.

  • Aimee Goodwin

Came for the meme, stayed for the continued memes. Some of the store branded merchandise is the cheekiest stuff I've ever seen for sale in a retail store. The facilities are heavily used, but the majority of the merchandise is clean and on the shelves.

  • Karen Md

Really good shop the prices are just brilliant you get a good selection of items, some items are more than a pound but they are still cheaper than buying in any other shop if you want a bargain go to this shop you can pick up so many different things.

  • Lisa Agnew

I've always enjoyed having a rummage through poundland, although this one is busy and chaotic! Many bare shelves, and not many items that are actually a pound. But if you are careful you can get some real bargains in homewares and clothing.

  • PeacefullySal

Great store, although filled with intoxicating staff, mainly the females who prefer to discriminate against people of Somali descent, huge disappointment. Racism in the West Asian community should be dealt with especially in Birmingham.

  • Atiq Massan

Extremely good priced stuff at far less than at other stores. Saved almost 80%. Thumbs up for the stuff. They sell at amazing prices but there are somethings that need more availability. I couldnt find only erasers in a packet there.

  • Jo Smith

Been in today was really happy with the service and 1person really helped me went out of his way. Over and above his name was Edgers thank u so much and really appreciate your help as stored had just opened and service with a smile .

  • Saiful Hassan

Still the go to place to pick up bits and pieces on a budget. Shop is large and stock seems to be replenished on a regular basis. Not much more other than its a shop that sells a various things for £1, and not cheap quality either.

  • Karen Kendall

I always go at Xmas and meet up with a friend to get each other gifts with a limit of £3 I don't anywhere else we could do this and actually enjoy looking round the store which has such an eclectic mix of items at such good prices

  • Zainab Hashmi

One of the BEST places for shopping in birmingham. Literally everything is available at just ONE POUND. From stationary to wardrobe to snacks to accessories. All under just one roof. Long lasting and superb quality.

  • tyreece shanaynay

I went on a magical crusade across Google Maps to find this fine establishment and it was melting into the ether. There is also a starcase that drops you as there is no floor. 10/10 good. thank you mr google

  • Laby Rinth

Its great to have Poundland in Birmingham city centre, buy your snacks and drinks cheaper than high street shops and kiosks. 750ml bottle of water is 2 for £1 also lots of selection of chocolate bars...

  • Ian Mazey

OK cheap and cheerful. Just be careful because some items/packs are smaller than in the supermarket. So you think you are getting a bargain but you aren't. But still plenty of bargains to be had

  • Nicola Hill

Can not go in there without at least one person trying to steal something. Very untidy and dirty in there. It used to be a great poundland store but is going down hill very fast. I would avoid.

  • Lucy Babe

Its a good place considering the prices but I'd prefer if they were to open at 7:30 once again rather than 8am because whenever I want to go into that shop, I can't or I'll be late to work!

  • Mubarek Hussain

Its bargains prices value money Poundland is changing adding items more than £1 it is one of my favourite shop can't leave City Centre or Kings Heath store without visiting Poundland

  • Paul Hand

Horrible needs refurbishing. There are loads of useless items and only a handful of useful items. There are better items at the same price in the major supermarkets and discounters.

  • Korra

Like the price but can get busy at times so hard to move around as there's not a lot of space. Overall I like it and have no problem visiting the store. It's convenient and cheap.

  • Bingo 2020

Me and my family was shopping in poundland in Birmingham City centre we was serving till we were buying table a men come to the till he was so rude he did not say anything so rude

  • Kal Louise

Didn’t have a lot in the fridges! Followed by security which I found very uncomfortable! I left without buying anything and went to another shop! Definitely won’t rush back here.

  • Paulina Siwa

They will not let you in even if they still have open doors as "they are busy". Well, you're a shop, cheap shop. Obviously you're busy! If you're open, you're open. End of story.

  • Sandy

It is quite big and have varities of products. You can also get garments but yes not in a pound .... Located at prime location.. Lots of thngs so cheap one can't imagine.. …

  • Chris Konopka

The better of the 2 Pound Shops on this road. Its tidy, organised and better stocked, Pick over the larger one any day. Normally only Self Service Tills open and 1 staff there.

  • Satvinder Saini

Probably one of the largest store's I have been to, wide selection of items from food, DIY to clothing and electricals. Given the location, expect it to get busy at peak times

  • Yamyamsbar

Just wish all stores stocked the same colour of items. I had to travel to westbromwich as the BIG one in Brum didn't have same colour. These borders look great in my kitchen

  • Stan Gordon

Must say I use it all the time every thing is good except electric gadgets and some of the tools they don't even last aweek but it's value for money on everything else

  • Teodora Bochis

There are some great deals. Don't understand how are they making money with these prices. You can find stuff that you would otherwise pay tripple at a regular store

  • Alan Spencer

Shop closed again today but no update on web site how poor is that sort it out so people dont waste journeys in to town you are saying your open bit you are not

  • Brian Weston

Not so bad, prices are creeping up (Not all a pound) plus a lot of tat but I guess you get what you pay for. But can't complain toiletries are value for money.

  • Nazia Miah

They have a large variety of stuff from snacks, clothes aisle, shoes, home and garden etc lots of toys too! Lots of self-service checkouts which is a bonus!

  • Mohammed Gharib

Gets extremely crowded with long queues. Need to hire more staff at least to keep things organised since it get messed up easily due to its busy location.

  • Robert Putnam

Managed to navigate to required aisle without bashing pushchairs and kiddies, self-service checkout worked first time. In and out in 5 mins. Well chuffed.

  • Mohammed Kaif

Nice and easy store to go in when looking for snacks and food. Also has a range of different electronic products such as wires, headphones and USB plugs.

  • Chris M

Good sized store, decent selection, just a shame they have all self serve with only one person attending as you can wait a while before being helped.

  • Mayur

Cheap and good quality products, decoration products, one time use is fine. But it fit for students who just arrived in UK and doing home shopping.

  • Varsha Hardy

The security guards follow you aimlessly, very annoying when you visit the store regularly. And have never had a problem there before Pep and Co.

  • Funmi Busari

I went to Poundland to buy some biscuits.l like poundland because most of the things they sell are pound. The experience was very satisfied

  • Lauren Shaw

the store is kept clean, and the staff are friendly and help if you ask but everything is well laid out so its quite easy to find things.

  • Emma P

Got everything I neefed, the staff were lovely as I am a liability at the self scan lol. Nice big store so not too cramped to go round

  • Something for All

Very expensive and nothing is £1 in Poundland now. Customer services of Poundland especially in Birmingham high street is worse

  • Aamer Moosa

Spacious but always has massive queues and hardly find items looking for but still good to have this store for quick stuff.

  • Josephine Burke

Very economical, I always go to the pound and for many things to use around the house, they provide good value for money.

  • Christopher Collett

Cheap prices, clean stores and helpful staff. They stock so much various items, you can find nearly everything you need.

  • Kristian Morelos

It has all the necessity that we need but fresh food. Everything is a bargain and staff are great especially "Jason G".

  • M Megh

Handy for buying few things when finish work, but would like the staff to be more attentive to checkout at pick hours.

  • Gina Atkinson

I'm in there 2 to 3 times a week. Just fabulous, I go in to buy a couple of items and end up spending 12 to 15 pounds.

  • 风水乖宝宝

Nice staff helping out at the self service check out, all things are good affordable price. Will definitely go again

  • Grace Turner

Upgrade to self-service tills has changed and in my visit the store was clean and tidy! Well stocked too. …

  • Anna K

Store feels very dirty and packed out at times. Some things you find here are a bargain, others are a rip off.

  • Steven Ricketts

Very good quality items huge range to suit anyone and everyone and did I mention only £1 per item bargain.
