ATROCIOUS veterinary clinic! Worst experience of my life, as a professional dog breeder & owner for over 7 years, I had taken my beautiful 6 year old girl here to do a cruciate ligament surgery on her leg. The surgeon Lucas beierer at first acts all nice & well mannered but behind closed doors he's an evil man, I have audio recorded footage of him on the phone telling me how he does not give two craps about my dog and my dogs well being post surgery. My dog had received a nasty infection post surgery due to poor practice & hygiene standards. I also had my dog held hostage at the facility as they refused to let me do slow payment plans as their website had advertised and I was forced to get a personal loan to pay upfront with my partner. The entire experience was traumatic and horrible, I have been to many vets from state to state over the years but this experience was by far the worst. Post surgery my beautiful girl had no follow up care or calls, nor any action to fix up the infection whcih prolonged for 6 months. Lucas completely abandoned the follow up care check ups, basically this place is a quick cash grab. I also wrote a serious complaint to the practice and found out that lucas & a few others who work there are actually part owners so they couldn't get introuble. I confirmed this by emailing a complaint & a woman named Tracy completely disregarded by complaint & refund request, which has now forced me to take civil action & begin civil proceedings against the vet practice. As I had tried everything to try resolve the matter including reporting the event to the veterinary board (whom are useless & do nothing).

Absolutely SHOCKING SERVICE my 18 month old puppy got referred there and died due to a mismanaged case, after sitting on results, vet going on holiday and his case not handed over, multiple calls to arrange further tests to be told i have to wait or i cant see anyone, he was left with me trying my best to do everthing i could for him. When i could be seen it was Money first then negativeness before what was being done to save my boy, i was spoken too rudely and in a way that non vets cannot understand, snapped at and spoken over and at that point realised he never stood a chance going there and was left to die only for them to rack up a bill when i rushed him in, in respiratory distress and the vet i was told i could not see was there, every conversation was it could be this, it could be that, and i dont knows or we can start this med but dont have it in stock, ALL GUESS WORK when it should have been handed over. Dont bother complaining, they cover their backsides and offer a cheap price discount on the death sentence your pet gets say they have investigated but you ask how or outcomes and they cant give you any so its all lies, and you get a life sentence you get left to live with as they sit on everything and do to little too late, i didnt get all those tests for a post moretom diagnosis, if you want your pet to have a chance to live and for you to be treated kindly get referred elsewhere as they do not care at all. Then want the final bill paid without any care or heart to how their actions caused the loss of your beloved pet and no apologies for any of it!

Had a terrible experience with this vet after rescuing a tawny frog mouth owl that flew into the side of my car. I’m at Samford and rang them, thinking they were at Albany Creek, to be told they had moved ‘5 minutes up the road’. It took me half an hour to get to their new location, which is nearly at Wilston. No signage in the building. Couldn’t find it at all at night which was stressful when I was upset about trying to get help for the injured owl. Finally got there after calling them again and handed the owl over. I was given some paperwork to fill in & asked the girl behind the counter if someone could please call me to let me know if the owl was OK. She said they’d ‘try’. After not receiving a call the next day I rang them, to be told they don’t let people know how the animals they rescue go. They’re ‘too busy’. I said well now I’ve called can you please check with someone. The receptionist refused point blank. I got upset and demanded she get someone more senior to call me to discuss. No call back. Apparently the ‘good Samaritan’ paperwork I signed has small print saying they won’t bother following up with you. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere where there are competent people behind the front desk, and they have a policy of treating wildlife rescuers with enough care & respect to let them know whether the animals live or die. I was appalled and will never use either their vet services or wildlife rescue services again.

My dog was badly injured outside of normal hours & I didn't hesitate to take her to the Appleby Rd Clinic. I know I can trust them, one of my other dogs had a big problem just a few years back on a Sunday & I took her to them, I still have her too. The time frame between my darling girl getting attacked & receiving pain meds was approx 30 mins which included getting home from our walk & driving her to the clinic. The girls at the front were lovely to both me & her, the Vet was upfront & honest with me, & provided an approximate written quote prior to proceeding with surgery. This dog has brain damage & she was confused & in pain yet she was at ease with this Vet. Since coming home she hasn't had any problems at all. Her injuries were extensive. If your pet needs medical attention outside of normal hours do not put it off. They are no more expensive than your regular Vet, only the consult fee is slightly higher. Of course that's fine, they need to cover their costs. They provide an amazing 24/7 service. The aftercare has also been wonderful. They may not know you or your pet on a personal level but they certainly know what they're doing. Do not hesitate if your pet needs attention.

So one night it was raining pretty hard. The kind of night where it is just pouring down and there is no end in sight. I have a little dog, and he needed the bathroom. Fair enough. Small bladders need emptying. I let him out. A pause. A bark. A pause. I float in and out of sleep. No dog. What? I get up. I walk out to the backyard and then on the lights. He is there, facing away from me. “Captain?” He turns, his little mouth is foaming. A toad hops away. I go to him and I pay him and he is somehow both stiff and shuddery. I wake up my wife and I tell her what is happening and we get dressed and get into the car. In the car he vomits all over me. We take him to the vet and they examine him. Toad poisoning! And he is so small. He might die, the girl says. We don’t know. He doesn’t die. He gets an injection and it helps. He is quiet and unsure, but ok. The girl tells us that he is the 9th dog that night and that four others have died from toads. We thank her and take him home and promise to be better, and more careful, and to appreciate the small things in life

A week before Christmas, our spoodle dislocated his hip. Despite efforts of Vets in our home city of Cairns, the hip would not stay in place, meaning our much loved dog was in immense pain. It looked like he would need a total hip replacement which is not able to be done here in Cairns so we reached out to QVS to see if we could transport our dog down to Brisbane for emergency surgery. From the get go, Lucas could not have been more helpful. All of our pets files were sent down to QVS and were evaluated to come up with the best surgical outcome. We transported our dog down to Brisbane, had him delivered to QVS and surgery was completed the next day. The quality of care, the consultative process, the desire to see the best outcome for the very treasured member of our family just blew us away and it is the motivation behind this review. Our heartfelt thanks to you Lucas and your whole team. Our dog is now past the 6 week mark in his recovery and thinks he is a brand new dog and can't understand why he has had to take it easy for so long.

My Cat has visited the Dermatologist in here and my experience is amazing. All staff in this place is absolutely lovely, very patient take their time to explain me about my pets procedures, medication and answering all my questions (given that English is my second language) they talk me through all nicely and repeat the same sentence as many times I need to ensure I understand 100%. So, Thank you, I'm very grateful and happy with the attention my fur baby get in here. The mos important, my cat demartologist Leticia is the best my, give you a context my clCat isn't friendly with people she doesn't know well and had bitten vets ans nurses in the past and Tish is very gentle and make her feel so confortable that is very surprising for me as this doesn't happen very often. So, thanks for that. Tish is no only a very professional Dermatologist she aslo got a beautiful heart, Tish has been on top of my cat's health always doing her best for my baby. Very amazed for all the passion and love Tish put into her job.

While there may be some fantastic veterinarians working here it doesn't excuse the extremely poor management and overpriced procedures/medicine. Several times I've requested for them to update the instructions on the care of my dog (a patient of theirs for 6 years) and i was told that my request would be honored. Yet again for the 3rd time they haven't followed and went against my instructions without consent when it wasn't necessary to. As my dog passed away they asked for money without a sign of sympathy of the situation i was in. When i spoke to the manager Nicole she was actually yelling at me to the point i needed to tell her to lower her voice because I'm trying to have a civil conversation and resolve the issue of why my instructions were not honored after already being told by herself that they would prior to the visit. I accept mistakes happen but they need to take accountability for their mistakes. They need a new manager!! Go to BVECCS around the corner, that's where I would recommend.

I dropped my dog off with a compound fractured jaw 4 days ago to QVS Stafford. Picked her up today STILL with a compound fractured jaw. Charged over $2.000.00 not to have the problem fixed. Had to take her to North Lakes. No interfacility transport provided. This means long waits at both places. To top it all they lost her collar. Could not recommend. Will not be going back. It has deteriorated since they split into 2 different companies. I have to edit my review to a much lower level. My dog was left with a contaminated compound fracture for over 96 hours because I was told the surgeon was uncontactable over the weekend. On talking to the surgeon today it transpires that not only were they contactable but would have come in on Saturday night to fix the problem. I was told there was “miscommunication”. The motives for this “miscommunication” may be construed as you see fit.

These guys really love animals. David did a wonderful job on our dog, who needed a major knee/leg surgery. We called a few times concerned about his progress and David was happy to talk to us every time. Usually going to a vet for a dog would be a traumatic experience, however anytime we go back with Bundy, he always walks in with his tail wagging, which to us is a great recommendation. He's always happy to see everyone there. And the reception staff are very friendly and great to deal with and also have a passion and great care for animals. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who loves their animal and wants them to receive the best care Queensland has to offer. Thank You for everything! p.s. the wall inside their practice is plastered with thank-you's from other appreciative clients and their beloved pets.

  • Alyssa Kaye

I want to offer my kindest and utmost THANK YOU, to ALL of the incredibly sincere people who cared for and held space filled with empathy, for me and my beloved Nina doggo who underwent an abrupt C-section for the intricate delivery of her singleton pup (still a no name ha-ha). Through each phone call (no matter the time: early AM or late PM), every (after) appointment to ease my restless nerves and angst, every single experience I had interacting with the QVS team and the reproduction team was remarkable… a special and heartening thanks to Dr Tanisha Mian, Dr Phil Thomas and Dr Xavier Schneider, for ALWAYS being available and giving me their vigilant attention. I am forever grateful, words cannot truly articulate the extent, thank you… Alyssa, Nina and Pup!

Our Ollie was limping after ten months old, after being referred to QVS by our vet. He had a CT scan, to confirm elbow dysplasia (genetic issue with cavoodles). He went in for surgery on both elbows to remove excess bone that was I believe was not getting blood supply. After a couple of weeks of the cone of shame he is back to his puppy self. Now we just have to not let him go too crazy and have too many zoomies to manage his potential and unavoidable future elbow inflammation and arthritis. QVS were clear at communicating the process and the steps. Ollie went in for survey the same day as the initial consultant which worked for us has he has been limping at this point for almost 2 weeks. Other than a bad haircut, he is all good for now!

  • Drew Wilson

We had our GSD here a couple of years ago Dr Inar was able to quickly ascertain a diagnosis, after months of tests at our usual vet and our puppy dog deteriorating. She was honest with our options and the costs involved. Researched options and contacted us with new information, even out of hours. I felt the staff really cared about us and our doggy. Sadly her infection was so advanced that despite interventions we only had a few more months with her. It was the hardest time of my life but the staff were so kind. I really appreciate the handwritten card that was sent to us. I trust these vets with our current dogs and would recommend them to anyone.

Dear Billie (labrador/rotted cross) in pain/discomfort on an evening where no one was open or available to check her. We had driven by QVS before (a shortcut to get home) and lucky for that, we had a place to go. Best idea ever - best care, compassionate, knowledgeable staff. Anyone in need for their dear pet family, we urge you to attend here. Cannot thank you all enough. If only Billie could talk, know she'd be chattering her praises to you. All the best. We'll see you again sometime. We all get unwell throughout our life - we look forward to your care of dear Billie if she becomes unwell and needs your expert care

  • Paula Peinbauer

I cannot thank the team enough for how well Angus was cared for over the 5 day period he was there. A big thank you to the internal medicine team and in particular Sibylle, Pascal and Hannah who did such an amazing job at not only looking after Angus but ringing me several times a day to provide me with updates. I am so grateful to have had such compassionate and lovely veterinarians take such great care of my fur baby while he was not well. Even when Angus arrived home I would receive follow up calls to see how the little man was doing. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Angus says thank you too!

  • Trevor Talbot

they are the best people. my dog got out of my home some how he was missing when i got home. so i was in a panic. my neighbour suggested trying them so she rang them & while she was on the phone a lady driving to work seen him & took him into these guys. the treated him really well while i went & picked him up. the did not charge me a cent for holding him. so i went & bought casket tickets for the staff & the lady who rescued him. It was the least i could do. I plan to take my 2 dogs in to them in the near future for a check up. I would without hesitation recommend them to anyone with a pet.

Our first visit as we have just moved to Brisbane and the saddest time. We took our 23 year old Ginger tom for his final journey. He had at least 3 strokes recently but the last one was more severe. The first thing that struck us was how busy they were. Very popular. They could see how ill Ginger was and dealt with us really quickly. We told them Gingers history and they agreed it was his time. Afterwards they made all of the necessary arrangements for us. It turned out they use Pets in Peace who have an amazing reputation. We were very happy with the service from beginning to end.

  • Kevin O'Dwyer

I had a really disappointing experience with this 24 hour vet. They completely missed an easy diagnosis with my greyhound. Charged me $260 for absolutely nothing, given that they could not understand the injury. My greyhound had a problem with her leg. The vet said it was a muscle injury and prescribed various anti-inflammatory drugs. After a week of no progress I took my greyhound to a different vet. They immediately saw that my dog’s nail had stuck into her toe. The problem was solved immediately. It’s a shame Queensland veterinary specialists missed this in the first place.

  • Mella Lee

From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank Dr Burgess and the staff at Queensland Veterinary Specialists. Our fur baby was in amazing hands from the moment we arrived. We are truly grateful for the empathy and care shown to us at this stressful time. The specialist diagnostic appointments and surgery were promptly organised so we could focus on caring for our pup. After days of uncertainty, diagnosic testing and major surgery, our fur baby Tinkie is recovering well at home. Again thank you! We couldn't recommend Dr Burgess and the team at QVS enough.

  • Brendan Matthews

DR Cameron did a great job with our little fur baby. Other vets have described her as "Challenging" at times. Cameron knew exactly what to do and how to approach her and got all the tests he needed done with ease. Our poor baby was in a lot of pain due to contracting a UTI.. today she's already looking far better and back to her old self (although very disappointed about having to take medicine). Other vet nurses were also very pleasant to deal, answered all our questions with helpful responses, and made payment a breeze. And the bill wasn't bad at all.

  • Jacqui

10/10 to Dr David Burgess, Dr Cassie, Dr Louis and Dr Min (and Jazz at reception!). This is the 5 star team who took care of our precious Burmese Cat for us. Lachie needed urgent complicated surgery. His operation and recovery couldn’t have gone more smoothly and this was all thanks to Qld Vetinary Specialists at Stafford. Thank you Dr David for taking this tricky surgical case on at short notice. Your expertise has allowed Lachie a full functioning leg when his prognosis was initially looking bleak Jacqui, David, Steph and Hayden

  • Daniel Lawson

My dog was found to have leukaemia and was nearing her end of life. Our vet Adriana allowed us to visit our dog upon receiving the news which I was so grateful for. Adriana provided great detail about our options, provided information based on current literature and gave us over an hour of time to process what was happening. She exceeded my expectations of what a vet should provide in that circumstance, and followed up with an immense amount of empathy. I felt it was the perfect mix of professionalism and genuine empathy.

  • famigliamotta

Our puppy dog ingested a big nut causing vomiting and sickness. The local vet addressed us to this emergency. They kept the dog overnight and did a scan, but they were not sure of what was causing the sickness so they wanted us to get another scan from a specialist, after which they would have proposed surgery for 5000$! As we could not afford this charge they suggested to surrender the dog to RSPCA. We took instead the dog to another emergency who did the surgery fir half the price without need of an extra scan.

  • Tanya Ricketts

Called at 3am due to my dog being in a lot of pain because of a blocked anal gland. They said if an emergency came in there would be a waiting time. I asked if it was busy and they said no. Arrived 15 mins later only to be told a dog had been hit and will be 2 hr wait. I didn’t feel this was true. There was no one else there. I then found out they do this all the time. Clearly blocked anal gland is not worth enough money to them. Went to Albany Creek who were amazing. Was done within half hour.

  • Hunna

Been here 3 times. Twice they've been 'okay' however, last time the Dr had interns with her and was on a major ego trip. She talked over me and my husband, didn't listen and was quite rude to the people she was meant to be mentoring. They also disclosed they had the wrong medical history for our pet. They entered the information incorrectly AND left a bunch of it out. Helpful for out of hours emergencies but their specialist services have much to be desired.

  • Sara Mayfield

I would highly recommend QVS and Dr Guy Bird if you furbaby needs orthopaedic surgery. My beautiful Pippi completely ruptured her cruciate ligament and had done damage to her meniscus. They fitted me in for surgery very quickly and did a magnificent job. Best of all they are up to date on the latest research and use the best evidence based practice to achieve the best outcomes for your pet - I couldn't ask for more. Thanks to the whole team!!!

  • Paul Mullarkey

Absolutely shocking interaction with this business. One minute they have our pets file, on the next call, they've never seen it, they next call, it turns up again. Promises of call backs that don't happen, all the time our pet is suffering. No apologies whatsoever for the delays and impact on ourselves and our dog. Almost fascinatingly dismissive. Can't speak to their vetinary procedures or diagnoses, but service and experience was woeful.

  • Hannah Wordsworth

We have shared highs and lows with QVS from pregnancies to good byes. I have always found the staff to be kind an caring. I am writing this review after we euthanised one of our pups which was a particularly sad time. However QVS's care and attention to our little one was second to none. I highly recommend going to see QVS if you have any concerns for your pet their team will provide you with the best care possible. Thank you!!!

  • Jenny Mace

From the moment we made the call to see if they could help us, through to the moment our gorgeous boy arrived atvtgecrainbow bridge, all staff were considerate and helpful, gentle and understanding. We were given all the time we needed to say goodbye, and they took care of every detail. I have no hesitation in recommending this exceptional team, Will, and all the ER staff for supporting us through one of our sadest days.

  • Sheila Guillermo

Worth the expense in an emergency. They have emergency vets that are calm, knowledgeable and educational. Their reproduction team is accessible 24/7 and have the reputation to be the best in Queensland. Have been here twice after hours and I have always found them excellent to deal with. Wouldn't go anywhere else for emergency. I drive past another emergency vet to get to here and I'm never disappointed.

  • Henry King

Excellent surgery and care. The vets and reception are excellent. However appointment timings for physio are horrendous. Every single appointment has been late by 15minutes plus even after being asked to move times and earlier. How is the first appointment of the day late? We shuffled things around to make timings and they can't keep their end. Go somewhere else for physio unless you have all day free

  • Victoria Smith

Could not be happier with our experience here. We rushed our 5 month old puppy in with what turned out to be meningitis. The staff could not have been kinder and kept us fully informed every step of the way. Our puppy was very well cared for and you can tell they have a genuine love for animals. Within two days she was home and almost back to her usual mischievous self. Cannot thank the staff enough!

  • Lisa Chivers

My dog got out over the weekend, they never checked her chip or anything then lied to me and told me the details were out of date and they certainly aren't, so they shipped her off to dakabin pound without even trying to contact us! Absolutely disgusting and the service on the phone was atrocious considering they were in the wrong completely and lied to cover there own ars.

  • Eddie G

I took my dog in with gdv late on Tuesday night. They took her straight through for an X-ray and diagnosed the problem quickly. The speed of the QVS team is the only reason she is still alive today. As an anxious pet owner they went above and beyond to keep me informed of her progress with regular updates. 10/10 recommend QVS for emergency care of your dog.

  • Trinity Dritsas

i quite literally thought my dog was dead when i bought her in. this isn’t her first visit to this vet for eating a toad. cost me an arm and a leg but, i’m so grateful for the amazing veterinarians who work tirelessly to ensure the upmost care for animals. they know exactly what to do $1,500 later and my cheeky jack russel is alive !! thank you

  • Sara Sternberg

I cannot fault anyone from the repro clinic at QVS. From reception to the specialists - people here care and it shows. I will not go anywhere else and recommend QVS to everyone. Two very successful frozen TCIs and one excellent c-section. Local vets were very impressed with the incision and closure work, healed with hardly a mark to show.

  • Kerbray

Very experienced and thorough service and you can tell they genuinely care about your pet’s wellbeing. Despite being busy, the specialist still took the time to come and explain everything and answer all our questions. All the staff were supportive and friendly and would highly recommend taking your pet here when in need of treatment.

  • Linda M

Qvs looked after our dog Maya, we couldn’t have asked for better hands to take care of her, our vet sally kept me updated several times throughout the day and have some great specialists for procedures not all vets can perform! Could not ask for better service or better pricing for the level of care they provided for our girl

  • SummersSnowVideos

I brought a wild bird in, and the lady at reception told me I could call up in the following days and get updates about its health. This made me happy. I called the next day to see if it survived the night, and they flatout refuse to give me any information about it at all. Why?!? Just tell me if the bird survived ...

  • Kajsa Gray

The only vets I would trust with our dogs for anything repro-related. Xavier and Phil always go above and beyond in all situations and are extremely knowledgeable. They will always squeeze us in if it’s urgent and answers all our questions very thoroughly. Can’t recommend highly enough! /Team at Coastal Bullies

  • Cathie Hayes

Phil came out at 2am on Wednesday 25th July to do a csection on Jemma my German Shorthaired Pointer she delivered 11 puppies. We had 7 males & 4 females, unfortunately we lost 3 males a few days later. The puppies are now 2 weeks old & absolutely thriving. Thank you to Phil & the staff for my beautiful litter

  • Joy O'Connor

Queensland Veterinary Specialists have saved our cat's life twice, once with emergency bowel surgery a few years ago and again last week to recover a gold earring he'd swallowed. Everyone was so professional, helpful and caring and I am so grateful for everything they have done. Thank you …

  • Eddie C

All they were worried about was getting another 6k out of us to do a biopsy after we already shelled out over 1k, the actual senior vet wouldn't come in and explain to us, so they sent the young vet in to hit us up for the 6k. Only thing they care about is swiping your bank card to take money.

  • Alyson McGrath

My old cocker spaniel has recently undergone dental surgery- the vets and nursing staff at both North Lakes and Stafford are caring and follow up with you so that you know what’s happening when - important for me when my old doggo stayed overnight. Thanks again QVS - 5 stars from me and Bob x

  • Adele McNickle

We travel 40 minutes to see the repo team and do it every time for a reason, their knowledge is secondary to none. They are the best at what they do and whenever we are there we know our dogs are in the best hands possible. Thank you to Phil and Xavier, you guys have truly been amazing.

  • Mel Inglis

I was referred here by another vet for my purebred standard poodle. We saw specialist orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lucas and he was very knowledgeable and empathetic in his dealings with my furbaby. I would have no issues coming back to this vet. I would highly recommend their services.

  • Lucia Aguilar

A very special thanks to Dr Lucas and the team for looking after Kobe. They did such amazing work with Kobe’s hip surgery. The staff really looked after him. Our heart is full knowing our fur baby has many quality years ahead and is the happiest he has ever been. Gracias …

  • Simon RB

I have nothing but respect for the staff but to come into the room where I am waiting with my family, all in tears, to say goodbye to my dog, and ask me to settle the bill is ridiculous. Already laid down a 3000 deposit, did you suspect id do a runner over 600? Extremely poor

  • Miss Navy

The staff at QVS were amazing to deal with. My brother and I have visited them 3 times and we have no complaints. Special shoutout to Dr Clare who looked after us during our recent visit. She was very professional but was also caring and empathetic during an emotion time.

Compassionate, caring and I welcomed the high level of information and facts when making what’s a really hard decision. All the team we came in contact with were great. The small gesture after our boys passing was a beautiful thought which we appreciated greatly.

My dog had a belly ache on a Sunday and was very worried and unsure. Got good advice, re-assuring and only treated for what was needed and not pressured to pay for more expensive tests that weren’t urgent, very honest and understanding. Offering zippay was handy.

Thank you for looking after my Italian greyhound puppy on a Sunday afternoon after falling sick with a stomach bug. Great service and the veterinarians are so welcoming and listen to your concerns . Will be back again if my vet isn’t open or in a emergency.

The nurses here are so unbelievably wonderful, they were so kind and helpful over the phone, and even more fantastic when we showed up with our mini dachshund yesterday. Could not sing their praises enough, I'm so grateful for their help …

I've taken my foster dog to Sally the holistic vet twice for some physio and she was great. She provided us with lots of exercises to try at home and did some laser light therapy. His leg injuries are getting better slowly but surely.

Have been here twice over the past few months to drop off injured birds, in a capacity of "good Samaritan'.. Welcoming animal emergency centre. Friendly staff. Located next door to Coles/shopping centre. Note: Parking up a steep hill.
