When I walked into satellite coffee on Harvard I thought all I needed was a cup of coffee, but I was mistaken. It was the early afternoon and students from the nearby campus were milling about, basking in the already waning light of the pale November sun. One of them held the door for me as I approached. He was wearing a totally unnecessary scarf, but as he was being polite I couldn't begrudge him. I stood in lineat the register a moment, thinking about whether or not the dishes in my dishwasher at home were clean or dirty. Actually, I might have accidently put dirty dishes in with clean ones. I would have to remember to check. When i reached the front of the line I glanced up at the barista absent mindedly and was immediately stunned by his arresting blue eyes and steady demeanor. After a few seconds of silence he asked, with a slight drawl, "what can I get for you?". I took a moment to gather my wits and said, "I came in for a cup of coffee, by then I met you and everything changed". He quirked the corner of his mouth sardonically, "so you want a mucho, then?". My heart and mind raced in tandem. I managed to utter a monosyllabic "yes" and he turned his broad shoulders to get my coffee. Cup in hand I stole one last dip into his deep blue eyes, then turned to the table where creams and sugars of every variety were arrayed in an aesthetically pleasing manner. A sharply dressed young woman with a cherubic grin was standing nearby, cleaning a countertop with meticulous care. She asked me how my day was going. At first glance I took her to be simply another employee, but as I took her in I saw I was wrong. This woman wore a subtle diadem of authority. An air of command readily apparent to any observer. This was no barista this was a leader. I blurted out an ephemeral response and treated my dark and ambrosial coffee to a couple couple of sugars and and a frigid splash of milk. As I turned to leave the tastefully decorated interior of the shop I surveyed my fellow patrons and found them equally ensorcelled by the enchanting atmosphere, delicious product, and charismatic staff. Each of us blessed in our own way. Then I opened the door and walked out into the cool clear afternoon.

I absolutely LOVE Satellite!! The coffee is great and they have a huge selection of ways to make your coffee, things to add to it, and types of coffee. I usually get the Mucho Grande Iced Coffee and then add, and yes, it's always available for us vegans (I suppose lactose intolerant people as well), soy milk and a bit of sweetener (these things you add to yourself so that you can portion it to your liking) and it is delicious and I think it's $2.75 or something around there. The dirty chai beverages which are chai tea and espresso are super good, just a little more pricey. The greatest thing about Satellite though, are their Rabbit Wraps!!! They used to be soooooo delicious, but then they changed them up a bit. I didn't think those things could get any better, OOOHHHH but they did. They are to die for! They did go up a dollar in price though, from $5.50 to $6.50, but they are just so good and healthy and vegan except some honey in the sauce on it, but I do honey and red 40; I love animals, not insects! When my mother was visiting from out of town, I took her to a few restaurants, but the Satellite Rabbit Wraps are what she has never been able to stop talking about; she totally fell in love with them. Now I have to take her rabbit wraps when ever I go out to Texas. They are a local establishment in the Albuquerque, maybe New Mexico area too, but I'm not sure on that. Satellite totally blows Starbucks out of the water! It is also conveniently located on Central across from UNM campus. Don't forget your frequent flyer card that you collect points on with every purchase and then after so much money spent you get five bucks to spend on whatever you like there (yes, I go to this Satellite very frequently). There's also a Satellite in the SUB of UNM, but they don't give you frequent flyer points, so I go across the street unless I'm really crunched for time.

Oh my heart! I studied here in college and dropped in at lunch to get some work done. I love, love, love supporting local coffee, but I was had on this one. Ordered a quad shot after finding they had Brazil on the espresso. Shots came out watery and astringent. Come to find out they were fixing their grinder so they had ground all their beans and was pulling from a cup. However, the barsita clearly did not have training on espresso machine (no packing, 9 second draw, no gram measurement). I was nice!!! I said, "hey can i just have a coffee instead?" No biggie right? She said in a rude tone, "You dont like it? Well we think its great." Thats when I left. Poor product and Rude Service? Earned yourself a 1 star there... Management, if you wanna correct the training and attitude of this employee: Short haired brunette, purple hair, combed to the side... But I have a feeling shes management, so I doubt that will happen. So long Satellite! It was good! I'll miss you! #shouldhavewenttohumble ***just found out the barista was the regional manager. No wonder she was arrogant and incompetent. Her grinder was broken and she simply did not know how to pull an espresso shot and when I called her on it oh, she had to save face in front of her employees. Most likely, this is an individual experience. I doubt the regional manager it's going to serve many other people. So, to you my reader, you'll probably have good service and equality espresso shot. I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person.

I love this place! I'm on vacation in Albuquerque and keep returning. The atmosphere is lovely--warm lighting, pleasant colors, lots of different seating. There are booths, cozy arm chairs, bar stools, and a little fireplace. The store is never too loud, just some light chatter in the background that kind of completes the café ambiance. There is also outdoor seating if you want to sit in the sunshine. The baristas are so friendly too! You can customize your drinks without the price shooting up and they are so helpful to answer questions or give advice if you're not a coffee connoisseur. I like the get the cappuccino with oat milk. I can't have dairy, but they had at least three milk alternatives. The cappuccino is SO good! This is my go to drink anywhere I go, but this is one of the best I've ever had. So smooth and creamy. The foam is perfect! You can get wet or dry foam, too. I also ordered the iced ginger cookie. It was amazing! So big and the perfect balance of crispy edges with a chewy inside. The flavor was great too--just the right amount of spices and sweetness.

I come to this location almost every day and order my same Black Velvet with a caramel liner, while my wife always tries new items on the menu. No matter the drink, i have always found them all to be more delicious than the last as I always try my wife's orders. For the nearly two years that i have been stationed here in ABQ I've found that the food and drinks have always been consistently delectable, the prices to be exceptionally fair, and the staff to be incredibly kind, professional, and prompt in getting orders out to those in need of the caffeine. Contrary to the negative comment below, I have never witnessed any kind of unfair or unprofessional behavior from any member of the Satellite team in the numerous times I have been in the shop throughout these almost two years no matter the time or day. As a consistent customer, I can not express how much I love this place as I have never been to a coffee shop as amazing as Satellite coffee. I've come nearly every single day with my wife for as long as i have been in New Mexico, and will continue to do so until I'm sent to another duty location.

We are fans of Sattelite coffee. Usually the service is hospitable and coffee wonderful. But today we went to the Central location because the University one was closed. We got our coffee around 7pm. It was done wrong and definitly not extra hot like we asked. We requested for it to be redone which the cashier obliged. Upon receiving the new coffee the barista just tossed it on the counter, did not address us, and seemed very rude. Its distressing to find out that such rude people are ruining Sattelite's good environment and coffee. Least I mention that our coffee was still wrong. Rather than fuss about it any longer we left, disappointed. We were looking foward to Sattelite coffee after a family trip away from home. In any business its important to hire people who share the same values that the business has or else they have the potential of ruining its good name. We still love Sattelite Coffee but wont be back at the Central location. We'll stick to Sattelite on University. Fair warning guys.

The Satellite Coffee shop (on Central), IS WAY MORE THAN A COFFEE SPOT.... this shop has come to be for me a comfort, as if visiting a life long friends home again. They greet me by name every time I walk in, no matter how many times a day I may come in with my indecisiveness, or how busy, Rain (Manager) and the crew (Mel, Aly, Doug, Caleb, and few others whose names escape me right now) have always made the drink I needed for the day, even when I didn't know that's what I needed/wanted. On my worst days, they have picked me up, on my best days they have celebrated with me, and even on my mediocre days they have reminded me that it is great to be alive! I always leave with a tasty beverage/a sweet snack, or some other extravagant gift of deliciousness, along with a smile, a laugh and sense of caring they extend to me THANK YOU ALL, at satellite coffee on central

  • Just The Collector

Decent coffee, better food. Many locations in the State of New Mexico to serve you. Much better flavor than Starbucks, and way better menu items. Satellite coffee bakes many of their desserts fresh and prepares meals in their full service kitchens. Like i said much better than Starbucks! Plenty of free parking, located in the heart of Brickyard District and across the street from UNM. Very clean comfortable interior or dine Al Fresco on their outdoor patio. Across from UNM Campus, limited free parking, but plenty of street metered parking and paid lots, handicap accessible, near bus stops and nearby bicycle racks to lock up your bike. A new feature for this neighborhood are the Pace Bicycles to rent and use temporarily allowing you to take a load off achy feet & toes, allowing you to get where you need to go quickly.

Great environment for professional students First Dates meetings if you don't mind being in public going to study if you don't mind being in public as well things like that it's a very comfortable environment it just like any other expensive coffee shop it's very expensive and overpriced and it also comes along with a certain attitude with some people but you just got to look past that and enjoy it for yourself and get yourself a big comfy chair hopefully by the fireplace if it's on and relax and read your book or do your homework work on your music whatever it is and you will like it their coffee and their food is good as well I have never had something I didn't like their I loved her creme brulee beignets but that's a fat kid treat lol they have an amazing dirty chai as well

  • J.A.C

I have been coming here for a long time. I love the ambiance, the staff for the most part are always fantastic, the reason I am giving two stars is because the price increase for non dairy products. I have to now pay a dollar more per drink because I cant have dairy! This is crazy. I havent been here in awhile, so not sure when the price increased but yikes! I buy organic dairy for my kids and organic high quality almond and coconut milk for myself and the non dairy is still cheaper than organic dairy, so what gives?! I will not be back because its just too expensive, maybe find a more affordable non dairy milks.

I visited Satellite Coffee for the first time a couple of days ago. Overall, it was a nice experience. The decor with it's earth tones kind of reminds me somewhat of Panera Bread. I did notice they have a lot of outlets if you need to charge your electronic devices. They also have free Wi-Fi. The staff was very pleasant and there was a chill vibe to the place. I've yet to try any of their food and I'm giving this review based on 1 caramel/vanilla latte. It was decent and I enjoyed it.....but there are a couple of coffee shops nearby where I've had better. It's hard to beat Humble Coffee or Michael Thomas Coffee Roasters. I'd visit again, though, and would recommend if you're in that area.

This is a UNM staple as it is locally owned and operated with easy walking access being right across from the university. The staff here is always friendly and the coffee is always great. Should you want to do some people watchiing and most likely have some unusual interactions, I recommend the patio seating area. This spot is located right along central and the combo of college students and street folks always makes for some interesting site seeing. On a chilly day the indoor seating is also great and there is lots of tables and nooks for folks to sit and spend some time drinking warm pick me ups.

Satellite coffee is better than the national and international chains because Satellite Coffee is local. They are connected with another local New Mexico institution called Flying Star and between the two, there s a good choice of locations for great, early morning coffee, hot chocolate, signature drinks and desserts. Service is a lot better than the international places because it is always friendly and high quality at Satellite Coffee and Flying Star. I would have given it 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ s if they were open by 7:00 and if there were a location in Albuquerque Uptown ( Hint hint)

  • Hannah Wilson

I went to Satellite Coffee twice during my stay in Albuquerque. Very cozy place to grab a coffee and chill out! The staff is very friendly as well. I took off one star because my first visit I got a blended drink and it was extremely sweet so it wasn't my favorite. I also ordered a blueberry muffin and it was quite dry. The second visit I got a latte and it was perfect. Overall nice atmosphere and place to grab coffee or chill on a laptop and work. Would recommend for sure, and if I go again next time I will try more items on the menu and hopefully give all 5 stars!

  • Nora Vanesky

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in town. I know this is somewhat of a chain, but really every location feels like its own place... I come from a small town and this really feels like the only coffee shop in abq where there is that same sense of community, where the baristas know both you and your order when you come in enough. I am terrified of this chain becoming more gentrified... as is, its a spot where anyone from any walk of life can come and feel welcome, with amazing coffee, and always playin some really good tunes. 10/10 college art kid hangout.

Location, location, location. That's what I like about this Satellite. Located on Alameda, just east of Corrales Road, it's a great stop for a quick grab-and-go or a casual sit-and-sip. This time around I stopped to resupply our coffee reserves picking up a bag of Ethiopian beans and a bag of Tanzania Peaberry. Two definite favorites. So next time you want to go for a hike, bike, or run head to the Alameda Open Space and then stop here to refuel, relax, and recover.

The coffee is fairly traded and locally roasted, and is much less acidic and burned than Starbucks coffee. They also have really good teas, try the blueberry rooibos, it's amazing. It's in a very walkable neighborhood but still has a parking lot, which is super good if you're not from the neighborhood but visiting. It's also a major Pokestop, they have a fireplace to sit next to in the winter, and the food, while limited, is really good. Try the turkey havarti melt!

  • Good Earth Cleaning

Been frequenting Satellite for years and always enjoyed their coffee. Went in today and was charged $21 for a pound of coffee beans. I understand inflation, supply chain issues and climate change are all affecting the price of everything (including coffee), but $21 for a pound of non specialty coffee beans is a bridge to far. Went down the street to Humble and got a pound for $13.

The coffee is quite good, and the interior is among the most comfortable around. In particular the people-watching is fantastic from the miniature red leather couches near the counter. I've also determined that those tiny red leather couches are _perfect_. So perfect that last time I was here I measured them so that I can try to build my own couch at home with the exact same dimensions. The food is a little pricey, but the graburritos are really excellent.

  • Garcia Lorca

Shallow male Barista with dark hair flirts shamelessly with female customers, while failing to provide friendly service to customers who aren't conventionally attractive. Some of the staff are rude and pretentious. Somah is cool. Only reason anybody goes there is because Albuqerque sucks and there are no other places with similar hours and cleanliness. Everything is ridiculously expensive. I paid 7 dollars for a tortilla with lettuce inside.

  • Charles Bukowski

I've never had any issues with staff here. The drinks have always been good. The Wi-Fi has always been free and worked like it should. This is something that can't be helped but my biggest gripe is that if you don't get there before study hour begins you won't be able to find a seat. If you sit on the patio, it's like anywhere else on that part of Albuquerque, you'll be hit up again and again for money from the homeless community.

  • Steve Herrera

I came to Harvard and was eating my turkey jacks and I spilled my Mucho Grande Turkish Latte. All over the floor. I work in the industry and I had no problem cleaning up my mess because the guys were busy. I wasn't going to ask for another drink. Then Elliott appears and asked if he could replace my drink. What an amazing Guy!!! He made my drink again and brought it to me. He also super polite. Thanks Elliott. YOU ROCK!!!!!

Outstanding service, polite and helpful. Drink selection is superb and prepared with care. The food products are a bit pricey but tasty. Excellent ambience to chat or study with nearby fireplace offsets any pricey food or drink.

This establishment discriminates against working Americans over class and race. It is an unethical business, and you should go to one of the many other coffee shops in town. If one is a tradesmen, service industry worker or minority or the underprivileged they treat you poorly. Their drip coffee is garbage and the employees are classist vigilantes w/ very poor judgment. Don't support this unethical business!

  • Eliot Rocks

Lovely little coffee shop in Nov Hill, comfortable couches, gigabit Wi-Fi, I got the cosmic slammer which is iced matcha, Green coffee extract and mixed fruit juices. 10/10 for beverage and environment. I was able to park right outside the window to keep an eye on my vehicle. There's an outdoor seating area. The staff is very friendly, especially Trever, Julia, Rain. The restrooms are sparkling clean.

BEST COFFEE in Albuquerqe. I ordered Turkish latte and Mocha Java and they are the BEST. Turkish coffee has fine cardamon flavour and it is smooth. MochaJava is similar to choclate shake with less ice and it is the BEST.

Rise and shine sandwiches taste good! Only 1.4 for refills if you bring your own mugs. I ordered iced tea and they got it hot. I was totally fine and decided just go with that. The gentleman insisted to change and make it right (dumped my cup of hot one...oh I want to keep it...don’t waste:p). Every time the ladies greet warmly and provide sweet ordering service. Like the place and the people:D

Bonus: they’ve been offering ceramic mugs as the standard cup instead of automatically pouring everything into a non-recyclable/ compostable single use cup! Hooray for sustainability!!! I love coming here to meet people or to get some work done. There are tons of seating and outlet options and the baristas I have met are all pretty nice.

A pleasant surprise. I was dreading another StarSucks type experience, but it's not like that. Mostly student customers, but there's some diversity beyond them. The staff are friendly, coffee is usually delicious, and the Mexican wedding cookies, scones and muffins are very good. If you go for the sandwiches, expect to pay a lot.

  • A. M.

This place is quite nice and I love their coffee and they always treat their cystomers well. Satellite is likely my mist favorite coffee chain. However, they need to upgrade their couches and sofas at this lication to something like the branch in montgomery. It make the place look better as it looks kind of run down now.

  • Rios Fernandez

Flying Star absolutely sucks, but I can always count on good service and drinks from satellite. It’s weird how that is considering they’re under the same ownership. The baristas are always helpful and kind. Additionally, the barista who helped me today around 4:30 on 3/8/22 was so patient, kind, and helpful. What a dude!

  • Jo Van Lewen

I love this coffee shop! One of the few places I can get a decent dry cappuccino. The ambiance is great, a lot if students come to study or meet up. You can buy coffee beans in bulk and they have a wonderful selection of coffee beans and food. I just wish they offered croissants and maybe a fruit/berry bagel.

  • Jordon M

Consistent, friendly, and nice coffee and food. Miss the days Satellite was open until 10/11pm. Having a later coffee shop in town that isn't Starbucks is one of the things I miss most about the pre-pandemic world of Central Avenue. Hopefully there are plans to have evening hours once again. Worth a visit.

  • Claire Baire

If I could give it a million stars I would! Satellite Coffee was suggested by a good friend of mine. Did not fail me one bit. I think it's a great getaway for the locals and for the students. Nice environment with a lovely crew working. Always a drink for you. This place is just amazing.

  • Robert Folkner

The coffee is the best! As to food, I only ate the brownies, but they were like homemade, and I dont mean "almost." The atmosphere is excellent, and the decor is very good. I was in town late last year and I found it to be an excellent place to get in out of the cold and get a hot drink.

Great coffee, nice staff, and I love the atmosphere of this place. They have some types of coffee you can't find at Starbucks too, like the Mexican Latte and the Turkish latte. Always enjoy coming here when I'm in the neighborhood, and I'm happy to support a local coffeehouse too!

EDIT 12/8/22: BETTER volume! Thanks a lot, Satellite. :0) Friendly staff, delicious coffee, plenty of seating! If you any calls to make or you're looking to study, the music may be too loud. If you're looking for a delicious coffee, this is the place!

OUTSTANDING! I heard the girl working the counter called a rookie ... No, she's a pro-bowl selection. I came in very early (6:20ish) needing caffeine and not very coherent as a 1st time customer who did not know the company and she converted me into a regular! Sorry Starbucks.

Satellite's blondies are the best coffeehouse dessert ever. The iced Java tastes just like mocha ice cream and the black velvets are basically THE way to get your caffeine. But if you're looking for plain coffee drinks like black coffee, Starbucks is better.

  • Timothy Williams

Cool little coffee shop that feels cozy. Nice music and a good selection of handcrafted coffee. Close to UNM so lots of students in here. Really cool interior with stone in the wall and a nice fire pit area. I'll be back to try some other coffees.

Yummy coffee! Staff very professional & I was so happy to see the patio open with plenty of social distancing space and masks. Fresh coffee, espressos and tasty goodies available that don't taste dry like a certain other overpriced coffee place.

Great employees, beverages, and pastries! It can get busy with UNM across the street, but usually isn't an issue. As a tea drinker the london fog is easily the best in town. The seasonal pumpkin chai and dirty chai are also both winners.

Lovely establishment and lovely staff. They're always very kind and always laughing with one another. Very positive establishment. I just moved to Albuquerque and it provides me a wonderful spot to complete job applications.

Their cold brew is really smooth and not acidic at all. Cold brew is really easy to mess it up and they really got it down. Blue Berry muffin is on point too. Must try! ‼️‼️‼️They have indoor dining available.

  • Rhian Hibner (Arkannis)

I don’t actually drink coffee anymore, but the ice tea here is perfect, and their Turkey Pepperjack sandwich is the ultimate comfort food. The patio is very nice as well. Last but not least, the service here is excellent.

  • Fiana Shapiro

Nice atmosphere but always crowded. Nice staff. Some drinks good (blended seasonal drinks), some not so good (like the chai, which mostly tastes like milk). As with all these coffee shops, could be less $. But it's local!

  • N C

Top for espresso, great looking place and people. Best atmosphere in town, sleepy, comfy chairs, outside facing bar for when you want to stare aimlessly into the mist of college students and traffic passing by. Cheap too.

  • Steele Desmond

The baristas are very friendly and there are minimal homeless people outside on the patio. They get my drink right and with a smile. It's a great place to study and to go on dates. The pickup scene be pretty tight too

  • Mehdi Mezni

Love to be here every now and then to enjoy a drink, or work on my assignements. Very college like hang out, with a laid back vibe and friendly staff. Food and beverages quality is fair enough, and so are the prices.

The black velvet is so super charged. I'm certain I could be wired for sound at this moment. Lovely environment, with super cool employees. Recommend trying this spot out If you love coffee, as much as I do.

I like this place better than Starbucks usually, although their prices could be a tad cheaper. I understand the "local tax" but 3.50-4 bucks for a iced coffee??? Brownies and other pastries are excellent.

This is one of my favorite cafes-it has a perfect studious and busy atmosphere that attracts college students and the coffee is great. My only regret is that it is far from a college student's budget!

  • Quetzabel C

Four stars because I freaking live their vanilla caramel frap, but their food is like... microwaved? So it's not that good, like their burritos have a weird taste but the drinks are bomb so it's okey.

  • Michael S

Nice little coffee shop. I always try to support local coffee and this place has consistent service/quality. It can get a little packed as it's across the street from the college so plan accordingly.

  • talexasol

I love this satellite and have been a regular for years! The staff are the sweetest and the coffee is always excellent! They are pup friendly and the vibes here are a mood booster. I love you guys!

  • SELDOM SCENE

Staff was friendly and made great coffee.. The staff being friendly isn't even a personal requirement if the coffee is good but they were notably sweet and made sure we were happy with our order.

Super awesome people! Gave me great recommendations, as I'm from Houston and had never been. So I appreciate the coffee and conversation, even gave me some tips on places to go. Much appreciated

Like a trip to another era. A mid-century modern jewel. Clean, pleasant service, good coffee. What more do you need?

Central location Cool ambiance. The young man who took our order was a conversationalist; an increasingly rare trait. We had the chia and mocha en fuego Both were very good. Would recommend.

Coffee is alright, seems a bit judgemental, not a huge fan of the vibe. plus, you have a tip jar and a tip on the receipt, if you get paid decent wages why make it feel like I HAVE to tip

I love this place!!! Every time I come here the service is friendly and Chey the Manager is fantastic!!! Their iced turmeric latte is to die for and all of their food is delicious!!

  • Christian Denny

Very nice place for being located on central. Usually people out front smoking or doing weird stuff. Great place though to get coffee or a desert and study or have a meeting.

  • Chris LeClere

Great spot with friendly staff, comfortable seats, and string Wi-Fi. The mocha an fuego is one of the best drinks I have ever tried. The earthy, spicy, sweet mix is perfect.

Awesome coffee. Get the dark roast if you like strong flavor. The medium roast is good, but a little light on taste. Very chill atmosphere.
