While kicking around downtown I bumped into Zendo. "I think I've heard of this place" I muttered to my friend. Having now had the good luck to enjoy Zendo, I expect to spend more time finding reasons to go there. The staff were exceptionally friendly, guiding patrons through different options and making suggestions when asked. The prices were very reasonable and the drinks themselves were magnificent. The atmosphere is very casual, light background noise and a bright communal area is friendly and inviting. They also have a shared, partially covered patio hidden away behind the storefront. Protected from street visibility it is shared with Sidetrack brewing nextdoor. This patio is a gem with ample storage and both fans and heaters above. This is truly a great coffee spot hidden away in a slightly odd, off downtown location. The parking is generally easy, depending on when you visit, but it is all street parking. They also sell a selection of pastries and burritos, I believe, but I cannot attest to them as I did not partake. Swing by, grab a cup of someone delicious, enjoy the patio and start thinking about your next trip in. I know I am.

Cute coffee shop that attracts a young hip crowd of students and professionals. Was glad to find some pastries, some of which were vegan, and also some vegan drink options. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would probably visit with some regularity. However, the place has a few shortcomings that I noticed. For one thing, the default minimum tip is 18%. I always thought the standard tip amount was 15%. The good news is you can set a custom tip, or probably even skip the tip. But the 18% default tip just seemed rude and greedy. I thought this was a place for artists? Artists are not generally rich people. My pastry and a smallish hot chocolate set me back more than $12! At least the food was tasty. If you come early in the morning, you may have to watch out for the blinding sun. They have some shades that help, but what they really need is an awning. Also, the front door does not close of its own as it should, so it is often open, allowing bugs and potentially rodents into the dining area. Most of the tables in the dining area are 10-foot long picnic style tables with equally long benches. Be prepared to climb into your seat and sit with strangers. The place apparently has no restrictions about dogs. A very large shaggy English sheepdog wandered in with his owner during my visit. Still, given the relatively few options in this decidedly inner-city neighborhood, this is a good place to know about.

We stopped here to visit with a friend on our way through town. Managed to find parking right out front, the area is cool. The coffee shop is hip, attractive. The place was busy, the staff were very nice, and the coffee was good. The matcha drink my husband had was also very good. They have several kinds of coffee beans for sale that they roast, but my one complaint is that there was no flavor profile to be found for any of them. I asked the employees for a list because I wanted to purchase them, but they didn't have one, and profiles aren't listed on their website either! The woman I asked said she could find out but it was really busy and I didn't want to make folks wait. Coffee is one of my favorite things in life, but I want to know what it tastes like before I buy it as I am picky. They lost a sale, so I hope they get it together and make a flavor profile list available for their coffee beans.

Favorite coffee spot in Albuquerque, for both the drinks and atmosphere (both inside and the amazing patio out back). Pilar and her team are absolutely wonderful and have cultivated a lovely, creative, welcoming space for all. There’s always different local artists featured and the shop often organizes pop-up markets for local makers. Favorite menu items: Zia latte and cafe con leche — they’ve even got vegan sweet & condensed milk!!! The green chile burritos they get from Sister are also incredible.

Only 11 months later and I'm treated like I'm going to steal something yay! If you're coming to ABQ WELCOME! Omg you're going to love it here! Pretentious 7 dollar coffee! Remember to wear as much Thrifted clothing you can so you can "blend in" and feel good about how "you're not like the other colonizers" lol Thanks for making me feel like I was an intrusion in my own home! Lol these baristas literally moved items away from the bar from me thinking I was going to steal lol I was trying to read the menu. never coming back here.

I really enjoy going to Zendo. This coffee house is like no other in Albuqurque. Zendo has a great selection of coffees, teas, espressos and lattes made with their locally roasted coffee. They also make some unique iced drinks. Among my favorites, the sparkling lavender ginger lemonade. So refreshing slightly peppery sweet, top this off with a hit of lavender and you have magic. It’s heavenly for my taste buds. They also carry a nice selection of fresh baked goods from Witching Flour a local bakery. Kudos for supporting other local businesses. Zendo has amazing amazing natural light from their huge skylights, which creates a calming and relaxing state of mind. The staff is friendly and professional, who can ask for anything more. A bit of goodness in all they do.

  • Ricardo Hdz

Awesome place, great set up. Great place for quick coffee run, and great environment to sit down and enjoy your coffee. There espresso is great they have enough drinks to change up and not get bored or the classics for the people that enjoy there lattes. All the workers are always friendly and helpful when having questions, they know all the regulars by name. Cant say enough good things about all of them. They have a food menu, and pastries from the local shop BLUE DOOR PATISSERIE. Can go wrong with any of the pastries from them. Overall its my favorite coffee shop in Albuquerque because of the over all experience. Great coffee counts alot but you have to have great customer service to really make a positive impact on your customers.

A nice and cozy atmosphere to meet with friends or have a solo outing. Went there for my first time with a friend and did some drawing in our sketchbooks while having a matcha and gluten free donut. The atmosphere on a late Saturday afternoon provided a lo-fi playlist with the look and feel that would definitely cater to millennials and a gen-z clientele but is welcoming for all. I would venture to this cafe again in the future but the distance is the only thing deterring me from doing so! Hoping for a new addition in the northeast heights!

We stopped at Zendo one morning on our way out of Albuquerque. The coffee was the best we had in the city. The downtown location had a great ambiance with light and bright surrounds. The space was lively and active with a constant cue of people in line. I had an iced latte, my husband had a cold brew, and we each had a croissant. The pastries were fresh and perfectly flaky. My only regret is that I didn’t have time to sit in the space and take in the good vibes of such a vibrant quality neighborhood coffee shop.

The coffee is amazing but not as amazing as the staff. Zendo is always such a warm, lovely space to catch a cup of joe, and hang. It's a place where it's easy to find community, whether it be with their awesome barista crew or running into people you know. Great patio also - my doggo loves it :)

I love the atmosphere here, it's such an enjoyable place, beautiful artwork, beautiful furniture, and their back patio area is so wonderful to sit in with more great art, tables and benches. It's well covered for the hotter months too. Their coffee and pastries are great, my biggest, and possibly only gripe is I wish they had larger drink sizes. It's really just the one size on their lattes, and while they are very tasty, I just always want more, but they're not cheap. Anyway, highly recommend checking this place out.

The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I inquired about a coffee they are making and the gal willingly explained the process and ingredients. I regret not getting her name. The burrito was delicious and I appreciated that it was not warned in a microwave. The gluton free, vegan donuts were amazing as well. We had the red chili burrito served with a side of salsa. I had a black coffee which was very tasty and my friend had a Zia Latte with white chocolate and whip cream. Out of this world for the taste buds. Sat outside on the patio. Beautiful morning! We will definately visit again when back on Albuquerque.

  • Jill Sizemore

We took the time to get off the road to visit this place because of their wonderful reviews. So I would like to add to that. The drinks specifically the tea lattes were delicious and invigorating. I was able to drive for another 6 hours and I wasn't keyed up or anxious. The food, the pastries they obtained from local vendors, was amazing as well. Fresh, not too sweet yet just enough, and portions were perfect. It's a little crowded because the locals understand what a treasure they have. However every single one of them to a person was kind and offered places to sit. Definitely a return on the next way through town!

Was in ABQ from Amarillo for an event. I've been in the coffee business for years and the very unique flavors and preparations of the beverages were very surprising and pleasant. I've only rated three other coffee shops 10/10 and this one absolutely deserves that rating. Very pleased and will absolutely be ordering some more beans from their roastery and maybe a jacket if they ship to represent them back home! Can't recommend this place enough for a coffee lover in ABQ

Zendo was our go-to spot on our recent trip to Albuquerque while photographing a destination wedding weekend! We came twice a day for four days because it was SO GOOOOOOD! I’m very particular about my coffee so to find a spot that I loved so much to not try any other coffees in the area is a big deal. I’ll be back every time we come to town

Yum! What a great place to stop, mid bike ride! I snagged a beautiful and delicious Aztec Latte (with extra shots and macadamia milk!) while my partner enjoyed his first Long Black. We shared a moist and nutty coffee cake before heading out. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is calm and homey. We will definitely be back!

Nestled in the downtown of Albuquerque on a somewhat rough neighborhood is one of the better coffee shops you could go to. It appears the block is revitalizing as I think a brewery is going in next door. They do one thing and that's coffee, it's very good and they have several unique drinks but I have not seen on other menus. It's not a large space inside but you can sit and drink your coffee and I believe there is a outdoor seating in the summer.

  • Svetlana Velichko

Cute little coffee shop with really delicious lattes. The menu has a lot of unique drinks. The cashier and the barista guy were very friendly and nice ...the African American lady that was helping needs to pick up her game! Very rude and antsy, also when service pastries and working behind the counter you don't stick your hands down your shirt to fix your cleavage!!!

I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a while and finally got a chance to today. This place is wonderful. You walk in and there is a very communal and relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the Aztec Latte and it was one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. My cousin ordered the Turkish Latte and it was equally as delicious. She’s lactose intolerant and they easily substituted with almond milk. Great coffee, great atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back.

  • Enrique Robledo

Nice little spot. Looks cool inside (due to Covid-19 not able to go in). I was greeted nicely at the window by a young lady. I ordered a breve latte. Shots tasted delicious and smooth. The steamed half and half they came in was okay. Overall the taste and presentation of the beverage was good. Price point for my beverage was high average. I like supporting local so I hope to pay them a visit again to try other espresso beverages.

I know they don't actually make the burritos, but they do put them on a griddle to prep them which adds a nice touch to a delicious item. I had an Aztec latte as well and loved it. The specialty drinks here are extremely unique and memorable. So far I've had the Turkish Latte and the Aztec Latte with oat milk, both phenomenal. Pleasant atmosphere, quick service, knowledgeable staff, and tasty drinks. I had the Turkish latte, which was great. The everything bagel left a bit to be desired, but this place was overall a good breakfast choice. The burrito and pastries were worth it. We’ll come back again. There’s a brewery in the same courtyard; we want to check that out soon.

This is our go to coffee shop when the kiddos want to have a nice weekend morning with us. The coffee is always good. The local baked goods are great (partial to the sticky bun). The ambiance is enjoyable, and you can check out the revolving artwork displays. New pieces from new artists all the time. Check this place out.

Zendo is an amazing coffee shop with a super friendly staff, it’s my favorite place to grab some coffee! If you are a local or visiting, definitely make a point to stop by!

Good friendly service and good drinks. I got an iced Turkish latte. It was good and subtly sweet. There’s plenty of space to spread out and do work or just to chill out.

Great coffee and wide range of espresso drinks. Friendly service, pretty space with great textures and lots of natural light. Easy parking in the area as well.

I got the Aztec Chocolate Latte with almond milk and it was the best cup of coffee I've had in my entire life. The cayenne pepper really kicks it up a knotch.

I only ever get lattes here and they've been consistently delicious.

Great coffee options, laid back vibe to the place too. Definitely a great spot to hangout and have some delicious coffee.

Cool vibes. Good variety of drinks to choose from. Delicious baked goods. They even had vegan/gf options.

Espresso wasn't that good (roast too dark for my taste), and the vanilla iced latte was too sweet.

Perfect if you like coffee stops more on the traditional side!
