Not my usual experience. I arrived and headed toward the screens area but was shouted at from a distance by a man who asked me if I had bought my ticket online. Obviously I had. Then the checking man scanned my e-ticket then said "Just a minute while I check if you are a student" Not sure whether it was supposed to be a joke but I am 75! The movie was fine and the cinema comfortable. The disabled toilet had a difficult to manipulate lock and there was no soap and no hook to hang a coat or bag on. The hand sanitiser dispenser was empty. Later I went to the main toilets which had no soap at some of the sinks.

It's had a glorious upgrade recently, with new carpets and most importantly, brand new seating. Not normal seats, but electric recliners, which are also a little wider than usual. These are absolutely superb. Many seats have been removed to accommodate these, and the seating arranged in such a way that rows of seating are partially isolated from one another, as the seat backs are designed in such a way to hide viewers from the row behind. I asked one of the managers about this and he explained that an upgrade was due, so why not fit the best? Well worth the fee, given the comfort.

Been a while since I have been to the Showcase Avonmeads, we booked our tickets on line and arrived to a much more modelling Cinema. We always loved the 89’s feel showcase had, but that being said what an improvement I’ve how it was previously and when compared to VUE. Areas seem to be divided up in our case it was divided into 5 seats, all of which reclined electronically. And were comfortable too. This made the experience much more relaxing and enjoyable for me and my family, this might be the go cinema for us for now on. A great way to enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

As cinemas, and the cinematic experience seems to be deteriorating due to streaming, pirating, global pandemics, cozzie Liv's (cost of living crisis), economic downturn, and cooperations putting profits before the welfare of their people. It's really refreshing to take an evening out to experience the vintage feel of sweets, popcorn and drinks with a huge screen and marginally comfy seats. We went to see Black Panther 2. And we were the only two in the whole cinema. I almost feel bad for Showcase. But our tickets were £10 each. Staff were lovely. Great atmosphere

We've been going to this Showcase for about 20 years, almost every week! Definitely one of our favourite cinemas in Bristol. I can recommend Sunday night - quiet, no problems parking, reduced ticket price and friendly staff - you get to know them a bit if you go regularly! Good sized screens, clear sound, not excessively loud, comfy seats! Sometimes on a Sunday 2200 showing you get the whole place to yourself, if you like personal viewings. If you like a crowd try Friday and Saturday. There is rarely a queue and there is always space to get a seat!

Visited the cinema on Friday to see the new Ant-man film and the customer service was horrendous. Was ignored by the service staff at the kiosk who had an absolute miserable attitude. It was only myself and my friend at the counter as the cinema was empty. I do understand that some people hate their jobs but there's no need to inflict their misery on others. Only redeeming quality was the cinema manager who was absolutely fantastic with dealing with a refund issue so I would return to this cinema again.

It's a great place for a movie lover. They have multiple screens in the premise. They provide an above average quality in terms of visual and good quality sound systems. Not too good, not too bad. Staff service is good and they have welcoming staff members. Seems very spacious and they have a huge parking lot in the front. I found it a bit hard to reach by, as it is situated in a distance from the city. Even though, if you own your own vehicle it won't be an issue.

Went to see a film Never Too Late this afternoon. Have been here many times before. Always enjoyed it. Today’s experience was annoying. No staff on ticket counter. Self purchase machines. Not when I am nearly 70 years old. Ended up getting expensive tickets and just two of us in the cinema theatre. Saving on staff fine but how do you help retired people ? No one around as even less staff on snacks counter too.

  • E Tristram

Amazing this place is still open if I'm honest - 14 screens, and we only had two other people in ours... People just wait to stream things now! But it was nice for a treat (haven't been to the cinema in about 18 months+) and seeing something on the 'big screen '. Very expensive, but it's been a while since I've gone so maybe not? One student and one adult can't to almost £20 - thank goodness I'm a student

Absolutely lovely cinema. They’ve refurbished one side of the cinema with the other due for completion in 2023 and what a difference. It’s lovely! Can’t wait to get back to the cinema again! We give showcase a big shout on radio bath as they have spent lots now people just need to use it! Cinema staff friendly and management had a chat with us about what was happening! Really good plans! Go and visit!

  • Bex Hardy

I went to see Taylor Swift Eras Tour and was amazed with the new seats in Showcase. There is a button on the inside right hand side of the chair and they recline! I sat at the back and it was as if I was on a balcony so literally couldn't see anyone in the rows infront, just me and the screen (and the other people in my row). Sound quality was awesome and the toilets were clean too.

  • Christopher Baker

Friendly greeting by security and checking in staff. Love that it has barely changed in its time there. Frequented as a teen many years ago. Like the centre room confections stand. Seats are comfortable and supportive. Huge screens too. Thoroughly enjoyed 35th Anniversary of The Lost Boys and going back for 40th Anniversary of The Thing. Looking forward to more classic re-releases.

  • jamesbtmtrains

Lovely cinema which has kept its original features since it opened. Usually less busier than going to Cabot Circus which is good as I prefer it quiet. Staff are really friendly. Now has recliner seats in all screens on the left hand side. They are very comfortable and with lighting on the steps all the lights go off which makes it a better experience. I would highly recommend.

  • Kashif Khan

This is how a cinema should be. The typical atmosphere, big car park, look of a cinema, giant lobby, big screens... Since the cinemas have started moving at the top floor of shipping malls, I thought the atmosphere and ambiance was lost. In the age where everyone has home cinema at home; Going to the cinema is all about experience and ambiance. This one brought it back.

Great parking, the rest of our experience here was mediocre and expensive. The seats (old and springy ) gave me bumnumb after about 20mins and the coffee was undrinkable. On a plus note, we had the whole theatre to ourselves as everyone had something better to do on a Saturday night and McDonald's is in the same area so good coffee is available when you leave.

  • Joris Haghnegahdar

Great seats, great surround sound and 3d movies, great popcorn and good drinks. Everything is very expensive which is why 2 stars was lost. They lack staff a lot of the time which is not great. Especially around the rush hour. They only have 2 tills ready at a time which just isn't enough at 6-8 when there are a lot of people coming in to watch movies.

  • Matthew Pearce

We went to see equaliser 3 last night, booking online was quick and simple, the staff were friendly when we arrived, a quick scan of our e ticket and we were on our way to cinema 5. The seating here is fantastic, lots of leg room and reclining seats makes for a very enjoyable experience. Try not to fall asleep .. it is that comfortable.

  • J S

Went to see 'A man called Otto'. Ample parking on site, Also £1 cheaper than Cineworld and every seat now has recline option, very comfortable indeed! The film is amazing and rated 15 as suicidal references, which I think should be rated higher as is quite explicit. The story is emotional and brought me to tears by the end.

  • Steve Adams

It is what it is. It was clean, saw the film wr wanted and that's it! Can't comment on staff really as desk unmanned. Food staff were lovely (take plenty of money or your own snacks)! An expensive night out just to see a film but certain films are always nice to see in a cinema. Not a place I'd visit regularly

  • Ayyub Chowdhury

It's been 6 years Since I last went to the showcase And I must admit they improved the cinema. The seats are more up-to-date now and the screens have become a lot bigger. Snacks are still overpriced but that's for all cinemas. Can't think of any problems with this place, could be my new go-to.

  • Tony Jefferies

It's a great Cinema experience and good car park facility, friendly staff. The web site is easy to navigate and pre book tickets. We paid a bit extra and sat in some amazing seats leather and fully reclining well worth it.Just watched Mission Impossible,it was excellent in reclying seats.

  • Benjamin Holbrook

Great cinema in the city, I hope it stays open for many years to come. It's roomy, quiet and has a retro vibe. You tend to get fewer rowdy teens here which is always a plus, and the seats with stadium arrangement is always a winner. I come here often and will continue to do so.

  • Seiya Alger-Hilton

Sometimes simple is best, and I gotta say that this cinema certainly is not as fancy as the de lux sibling in Cabot's Circus, but it is much cheaper, less crowded and the parking is free! Very recommended, although sometimes the Aircon is a bit noisy above the XLR seats

  • Anna Heywood

Since they redid some of the theatres to include different seating options this has become my favourite cinema. I used to struggle to enjoy films in the cinema as I couldn't deal with the old seats, but the new XLR and recliner seats are a game changer!

  • Emily Barrett

We were the only people in the cinema to watch the dungeons and dragons movie. Staff were really friendly and audio / visual was good. The couple seats are a bit of a rip off, but was a nice treat. Would come back to see a film in the renovated screens.

  • Paige Lewis

We went to the showing that allows babies, it was lovely to be able to experience this with my partner and our little one. Great idea, I wish we had known about it sooner! We brought lots of toys to keep her occupied and she really enjoyed herself.

  • Chloe F

A great experience, pleasantly surprised! Haven't been here in over 10 years and remember it being very old but it's obviously been refurbished and the recliner seats were amazing. Pleasant and helpful staff too. Highly recommend if in the area!

  • Mrs Holly Wood

The self serve ticket purchase screen is really off putting. The young girl on the snack counter was MISERABLE. But the rest of the staff were really nice. Free parking. Good range of snacks (but as standard cinema prices). Toilets were clean.

  • RyGo

Went to watch Guardians 3 at a baby viewing with the little one and it was a great experience. They should advertise it more! Wasn't too loud and as everyone also had young children it was perfect. Brought loads of toys to keep her occupied.

  • Louise Wellington

Went here a lot as a child and always loved it, but because of streaming and covid, I stopped going. They've had a big refurbishment of the whole place and it looks incredible, the new reclining seats are so comfy and the quality of screen

  • Leah Baker

This was my daughters 1st cinema experience the staff we're Friendly and welcoming they let us go into the screening 1st so Evelyn could settle and get familiar with her surroundings as she has sensory issues. Thanks everyone esp the chap

  • Andy Shore

Turned away by the cinema AFTER buying tickets and food because I didn't have ID for my son to watch a 15. A jobsworth wanted ID, but his passport has been sent off for renewal. Like all 15 year olds, he didn't have any other ID. My son

  • Imran

Good classic style cinema. The seats are old fabric material, and if anyone is planning to take kids like I did, don't get the VIP or XL lounge seats. There are 2 rows of these XL seats (I think they are called), and then there is this

  • Marianne Croft

Lovely well equipped cinema. Chairs were comfy and the cinema itself was nice and warm. We were very disappointed with the hotdogs, very small and basic, we are used cinema hotdogs being twice the size and served with all the trimmings.

  • Cher B

Hadn't been here in a while - only thing that seems to have changed is that buying tickets is now self-service which was pretty straightforward. Staff at the concession stand were friendly. Watching the film was comfortable so 10/10 :)

  • Lena Beaner

Really old style seats with no neck rest. Which wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t know it’s usual to have more comfy seats these day. Two years on 2022 - still really old seats. Think this will be last time I come here

  • Karan Luthra

Good movie theatre with an Amazing screen size. Fun to watch movies here. Around the area you can do fun activities like bowling, laser tag, etc. It's a nice little market around here where you can shop and eat.

  • Ryan Morris

ELECTRIC RECLINER SEATS!!! ❤️❤️ Most comfortable cinema seats I've sat in. Bathrooms look new and very clean. They also have a good choice of drinks and snacks. Now my favourite Cinema in Bristol …

  • Leandro Silvério

Great value for the money. Looks like a travel back in time. Old cinema however, it is like that in purpose. Full of parking space, and several supermarkets nearby. Really enjoy this place, feels like in 80s.

  • Drew Aitchison

Comfortable seats. (The main attraction) Self-service drinks are a pain in the bum. What are the staff paid for? It's Messy. Kids don't care. Not much of the experience it used to be. It's all gone corporate.

  • Cat McIntosh

Love the new reclining leather seats, fantastic to view the screen without having others blocking your view (due to new layout), friendly helpful staff, quick pick up of tickets due to self service machine.

  • Chris Cammann

New seats and interior are very good. Seats which can decline is better than what other cinemas can offer! Lobby still the same but don't let that fool you. Never full so easily the best option in the area

  • Glenn Rock

We use to go to this cinema every week, we visited 2 weeks ago and found no people on the ticket desk, so could not pay with cash. If you don't take cash we won't be back, that's your loss not ours

  • Catherine Lawler

I love this cinema! Good prices, clean, I love the retro styling of the neon and physical letters showing what’s on. The recliners are fantastic - I’d prioritise booking into screens with those.

  • Carl Eades

Great afternoon with my daughter & granddaughter. Had the cinema to ourselves. Tickets were a little pricey compared to Vue cinema. But selection of snacks and drinks were reasonably priced.

  • Nathalie Choubineh

The building is kept very well but can benefit from a good renovation. The staff are professional in every sense of the word. Self service ticket machines were not clearly sign posted.

  • Lloyd Carless

Got a lot of love for this place, great cinema. Well priced tickets, cool slightly retro lobby, reclining seats are top notch. Affordable, comfortable, no nonsense cinema experience.

  • Winny Wilson

I love the retro exterior and foyer - it’s like a Time Machine! The newly fitted out recliner seat screens are incredible - so comfy, and I can’t believe they’re not an extra cost !

  • Joel Joseph

Staff was friendly and approachable. The seats were comfy (even for my large frame) and the screening areas were kept clean and tidy. Overall good experience, would recommend.

  • Alnora Rose Pottrell (DaffCookie)

Quite small and dated. Very buisy with only 2 people serving. It is very far away from us though and was a special screening. Film was good even if my legs were cramped.

  • Mark Robinson

Best cinema seating and screen I've been too, really spacious and clean, comfortable and the screen and sound we're great. Really reasonable prices too. Can't fault it.

  • Geoff Stapley

It is what it is, all the big releases, clean, spacious, pricey snacks. Upgrades to the seats make this place way better, look for any films with the recliner option.

  • Kimberly Massari

We asked to swap the films we had tickets for after seeing a trailer, the staff were great and swapped them with no problems. Also gave us advice on the best seats!

  • Singalong with Christy

We had the whole place to ourselves at 1625 on a Thursday in half term- brilliant!! Comfy chairs in the entrance way and loads of space for the kids to run around

  • Sofee A. AMORE

My hot chocolate and chips with cheese were yum but luxurious sofa seats with foot rest and ample leg room made the cinema experience so must better. Thank you x

  • Andy Parsons

Always enjoy visiting. It hasn't changed much over the years, but that's a good thing, adds to the charm. Always clean and tidy. The staff helpful and friendly.

  • Philip Bolton

Great seats! Comfortable, leather recliners with drinks holders. Bits screens and good sound. Food and drinks aren't extortionate compared to prices these days.

  • Mekhala Laud

The cinema is big and quite spacious with good facilities and food options. The carpet and the seats were smelling as if they've not been cleaned in a while.

  • Ramit Sharma

Neat and clean place, comfy recliner seats. The movie hall could have had better heating, but overall it was a great experience watching Avatar 2.

  • Neil Codrington

A nice evening out with friends but then was spoilt by a jumped up security guard who was rude and interrupted the film and on exit aswell

  • Ashwin Hari

Screen 5 was really good, especially the seats were recliners. Got enough parking space, and refreshments are also available to buy.

  • Jonjo Harrington

Quintessential cinema experience. Sound and image quality always on point. Friendly and helpful staff, always a pleasure to visit.

  • Walkinside MyBusiness

Very Local Cinema in Bristol! Very specious and clean place. Staff is very Friendly.. Good place to go along with Family..

  • Gordon Podmore

The comfiest cinema I have ever been in. Has been refurbished I think and the new seats are excellent. Highly recommended

  • Tom

Best cinema around. Quiet, amazing reclining chairs and cheap. The style is ace and hasn't changed in 30 years …

  • David Alesworth

Our local Cinema, good free parking and lots of other shopping options for food, snacks and all sorts at Avon Meads.

  • Maria Ukhueleigbe

Loved the cinema set up. Very comfortable. The only shame was a girl at the food place who couldn't move any slower

  • Joseph Tingay

You can watch all sorts of movies there but I recommend that you shouldn't buy fancy seats they are worth the money

  • Jasperz

Very comfortable, great staff. The food? Like all cinemas, don't eat it its all processed, overpriced and nasty

  • Matthew Payne

The new reclining seats and not being squashed in like cattle, make the whole experience greatly improved!

  • Alan Simmons

Love this cinema. Projection is spot on, staff are friendly and helpful and it feels very clean and safe.

  • Cynthia D'Costa

10/10 This Cinema is great and captures the very essence of a classic cinema and packs
