Today, I visited a temple and found myself deeply overwhelmed by the behavior of the priests. Allow me to provide further details. I paid $15 for the archanai with fruits and an additional $5 for the karpura Arthie. As we patiently awaited the archanai plate from the priest, it became evident that he displayed little concern for our presence. He seemed to act according to his own whims, disregarding our expectations. Considering the sanctity of the temple, I strongly believe that he should have shown greater reverence towards God. As a priest, it is essential for him to wholeheartedly embody his role. Recently, I have been contemplating obtaining the sacred thread (Sami Kayiru) to tie around my wrist. In my personal experience, this thread has never been associated with any monetary charge. In fact, in my country, priests are dedicated to serving God and do not request any compensation for such rituals. This sacred thread is widely regarded as a divine blessing, serving as a powerful safeguard against malevolent spirits.

Murugan or Muruka is a popular Hindu deity among Tamil Hindus, and is worshipped primarily in South India and Sri-Lanka. He is the God of war and the patron deity of the Tamil land (Tamil Nadu). According to the Tamil devotional work, “Murugan never hesitates to come to the aid of a devotee when called upon in piety or distress”. Lord Muruga is worshipped for giving the meaning of the Pranava Mantra ( OM ) to Lord Shiva himself. Murugan is venerated through out the Tamil year. There is a six day period of fast and prayer in the Tamil month of Aippasi known as the Skanda Shasti. He is worshipped at Thaipusam, celebrated by Tamil communities worldwide near the full moon of the Tamil month Thai. This commemorates the day he was given a lance by his mother in order to vanquish the demons. The full moon of the Tamil month of Vaikasi signifies his birth. Each Tuesday of the Tamil month of Adi is also dedicated to the worship of Murugan. Tuesday in the Hindu tradition connotes Mangala, the god of planet Mars and war. This reveals the link between Skanda and Kujan (Mangala)

First time visiting this temple and had good Darshan and Nathan Gurukkal was kind enough to accommodate us and performed special arachana for our family. Tnx to him. Renovation under progress and i am sure, it would be one of the prominent temples in Sydney in future. Happy, that we are able to contribute towards the renovation. Moreover, Easen in front office was pleasant and friendly and guided us on various things. Initially, we were to talk to another elderly person and had a bit of challenge with him in interaction. Can be bit friendly with all and not with specific individuals as people may classify that as discrimination.... Lot of persons are visiting for the first time and may not be aware of the archana and other formalities and they are to guide us, which was absent. May be he had a bad day..! however, Easen stepped in and made things easy for visitors. Tnx to him.

Beautiful temple. This temple constructed by tamil origin Australian. Murugun is main god for Tamils and he has many names . Few names are kanda, subramanyam, karthikeya,. He is son of lord shiva and parvathi devi who is also called as durga ,sathi devi ,kalikasan etc. Sydney murugan temple is famous in Sydney where most of indian origin visit the temple and seek his blessing. Murugan killed tarakasura who was torchering humans in ancient times. He married devasena and valli. So you can see these comman names in indian origin people. The temple is peaceful and quite. You can do medication after having darshanam. There is private marriage functional . If you want to marry in hindu traditional you can contact the temple committee. Now a days sydney bus drivers are stopping near to the temple. I appreciate their effort in helping devotees.

The Sydney Murugan Temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, is a spiritual oasis in the heart of Western Sydney. This beautifully adorned temple radiates a sense of peace and devotion. Visitors can experience intricate Hindu architecture and participate in religious ceremonies. The temple also hosts cultural events and festivals, offering a glimpse into South Indian traditions. It’s a serene place for both worship and cultural exploration, attracting devotees and tourists alike. Disable assisted parking… plenty parking well maintained with social worker and the priest. One of the clean and tidiest spiritual temple.

This is a famous temple in the Sydney City. There are idols of various gods and goddesses and Pooja is also conducted accordingly. It is located on the great western highway and can be found easily. Parking is available inside and it can be problem during festivals and programs. It is visited by the people all over the city and parking would be difficult for the same reason during special occasions. There is a canteen inside the temple which mostly serves south Indian food at an affordable price. The availability of food and space to dine-in can be further increased and improved as it has a good demand. Please checkout the temple's timings and program schedule on its website.

The air is filled with the fragrance of incense, creating a tranquil ambiance that invites introspection. The rhythmic chants and melodious hymns further elevate the spiritual experience, making it a place of solace and enlightenment. A visit to this temple is not just a journey of faith but a serene escape into a realm where beauty and devotion harmoniously coexist.

Excellent place to visit if you are looking for some calm and peace where you can sit, meditate and obtain the blessings of the almighty straight up. However, if you are planning a visit on a busy day like Diwali, Tamil New Year, Ganesha Chaturthi, weekend rush hour etc., parking would be nightmare as there are limited parking spots within the premises. You may park outside on the connecting streets to the other side of the road or may think about using public transport. The canteen has been renovated and re-opened as well serving delicious South Indian dishes, masala tea, rose milk etc.. This definitely calls for a visit :)

  • Srinivas Yerra

Peaceful place to have Lord Shiva darshan. Plenty of car parking spaces here. Did my Vahana pooja today and it was a good experience. The poojari did the pooja in an authentic way. Lord Shiva bakths will love this temple. The temple also accepts navadhanya daanam. We donated navadhanyas today, each 1kg. At first we thought the temple may not accept daanams due to security reasons. But we are pleased to know that they are happy to take daanams. This is a great service!! Also the temple view is amazing today. Also just got to know that there are plenty of disability parking available. Added some pics

Sydney Murugan Hindu Temple is a place of worship that is a must visit in Sydney if you believe in Hinduism. Even otherwise, it's a wonderful place to visit and learn about the Hindu culture. If you are after peaceful prayer, choose a time of less crowd from Google. If you are after a special Poojai, choose Friday evening or a weekend or refer to their website. I always had a great time visiting here every single time. There is a decent size parking. An affordable canteen for your dinner (certain days), so you don't have to worry about it during your prayers.

  • Kaushik Kundu

the priest s give wrong information and ask me to visit the temple for a specific sraddha ritual. then on arriving on the particular date and time they forced me to pay for something different. and pay 35$ for it, you have to buy stuffs from the temple store, even a candle bought from outside is not allowed to be lit. simply money making syndicate. one of the priest ‘natrajan’ shared his number. so that I can call him for rituals at home. I guess for the publicity. im absolutely disappointed..

Writing with a heavy heart I had a bad experience in temple today, I have offered lemon-lamps like every other Friday. This person from the counter rushed to Durga pooja area and threw my entire plate of divas offered to god on the table. He doesn’t have any respect for god & had worst attitude, I didn’t get angry but he hurt my feelings. I have informed to the Priest & some one who looks after the temple but they had no concern.I am writing this bcoz no other person should experience this kind of behaviour in a temple.

  • Dinesh

A great place of worship where you will find mix of South, North India and Australian people too. The temple might look like a big marriage hall but the dieties are divinely decorated. You will also find mixed set of people from warm welcome to raised eyebrows. Atleast, you are not here to judge people. Easy to access from Paramatta bus and metro stations. Friday Uchikaala poojai and prasadhams is one of the best. Sambar rice, curd rice, sweet Pongal and vada are the ones with great taste. Amazing people..

  • Damodar Joshi

The best Hindu temple in Sydney. Very nicely maintained with rose gardens in the front of the temple. Heated floors all over inside the temple and simple and excellent layout. Canteen is very nicely equipped. Car park is adequate but will be full in special days. The temple has a small hall for weddings and functions. Priests and temple staff and volunteers are excellent and helpful. I am pretty sure the temple committee and management is Sri Lankan Tamils.

  • Varghese K C

One of the best Hindu temple in Sydney , dedicated to Lord Murukan, the traditional God of Tamil. It's located Maya hills on the great Western highway and can be found easily.Very nice place for worship calm and peaceful atmosphere, shrines of Lord Siva, Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Ganapati. Offering all kinds of pooja....The temple has a small hall for wedding and function. There is a pure vegetarian restaurant and available parking facilities.

  • Sanjeev Prasad

I have been visiting the temple for the past several years and always used to find find peace. But over the years this has now become a playground for the children, discussion and for networking. People just don’t understand this is a place of worship to seek self realisation and liberation. The whole purpose seems to be defeated. The management should do something and increase awareness among the people and young generation.

  • Liz Xu

Beautiful experience. My Nepalese friend took me here today and the priest was super lovely and asked for what I was praying for, I replied that I was praying for my grandpa to have a successful divorce from a woman who was abusing him financially. I felt fully accepted even as a Chinese and the priest seemed to care deeply and provided a special prayer. The whole place was clean and beautiful. I would love to come back.

Temple located in Westmead near Tway Coleman bus stop. Accessible from Parramatta station on bus number T 80 or 810x. Beautiful and peaceful temple premises. There are facilities for puja offerings. Prayer hall has a divine atmosphere with a pious aroma which calms your senses and provides peace. Parking space available. There is also a food canteen open on weekends from 5.30 p.m

  • Gulshan Dang

Really good for timing and is pretty much open throughout whole day. It’s not your regular ram-Sita or shiva, hanuman or Krishna temple. Temple’s routine looked organised. Apparently you can’t request pandit ji to use pooja offerings brought from home. You’ll have to buy that from the temple that cost around $5 so that’s not too bad. Volunteers on duty were helpful.

  • Ganesh Venkat

Very good Murugan temple in Sydney. it is an hour drive from chatswood. apart Lord Muruga you can worship Ganpathy, durai, Lord Shiva,Navagraha. systematic poojas are performed. Visited this temple. car parking is good but not enough to meet week end crowd. kandar shasti surasamharam performed here. Good canteen avIlBle where you can get all South Indian Tiffin .

  • Jamie Grogan

The place is worth a stop in to have a look. The place initially looks impressive but I found it to be just another modern building with generic type concrete statue' s. The inside was nice and spacious but I think it lacked upkeep and maintenance. Don't get me wrong it still looks nice but I just expected a lot more hand crafting and style.

  • Shivakumar Karantothu

Indian temple in Australia constructed around 25years ago, pleasant and holy place to visit and have some peace of mind. Pooja(praising) items are costly to buy at temple place, toilets are very clean. Place very well maintained you feel like you're at your own holy place. Basically you find all the priests in the temple are Tamilians.

  • Padmaja Bysani

A well eatablished sacred and devotional place close to bustling Parramatta. You will find idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Murugan along with Navagraha and utsava murtis. The place is really beautiful. I reached at 7 pm which was aarti time. Attending aarti was quite great feeling. I would like to mention one thing about the entrance that it is on highway and little bit confusing. Be prepared at the last signal to enter the temple just after crossing the signal.
