First off, this is a review of the new location on Vernon in Hunters Point. Theres lots of good at this place, and some bad. Let’s start with the good. The beer selection is probably the best of any restaurant in LIC. There are a bunch from Other Half, Interboro, Finback, and KCBC. Nobody in the neighborhood comes close. The outside space is really nice and spread out. And the burgers are flavorful, though my wife asked for hers to be medium rather than the standard medium rare and it came out rare in the middle. And I got the Dixie, which comes with only sauce on top, nothing else. Which is how it’s described on the menu, but an option to add cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc would have been nice. Service is very friendly. Now for...let’s not say bad but constructive criticism. The fries are lackluster. For a burger spot you’d think their fries would be killer. Second, know your audience - there really is almost nothing for kids. LIC has so many young families - just toss a small order of plain chicken fingers and fries, a slider with cheddar cheese, and a grilled cheese sandwich on the menu and bam - kids menu. We ordered the meatballs for our toddler and they were spicy (not mentioned on the menu) - she didn’t eat them. Maybe we could have gone with the adult portion of chicken fingers with the sauce on the side, but still. We’ll give it another shot because the potential is there.

As someone who really loves burgers, went to the Baroness to try this out as it was highly rated and reviews often say it's one of the best in LIC. Ordered the "Judith" sandwich which came on a potato roll bun. Let's just say, it wasn't the burger I expected or that orders raved it was (in my opinion), but it also wasn't terrible by any stretch of the word. The burger is well stacked and doesn't fall apart while you're eating it and the fresh potato bun is actually very good. But outside of that it's just . . . average. The price (about $16) for the burger and fries combo, made it decidedly more average. Thus, the three star review. Note the rating is just for the food. Service is great, venue looks clean (went at opening around 4:30 PM), and it has all the classic dive bar trappings. If you're in the area and looking for a burger it's definitely better than Petey's nearby, but if you can find a Shake Shack or Five Guys, those will probably offer a more filling meal for the same cost.

Parking
Street parking only, but the outside dining area takes up about half of the corner space the restaurant occupies.
Kid-friendliness
Definitely a bar. Not ideal to bring young or even teenage children to.

Your typical trendy gastropub that prioritizes vibe, aesthetics, and punny cocktails and menu items over, you know, actual good food and customer service. After being made to wait at least 15 minutes before anyone came over to our table, I asked for a bacon cheeseburger. Our server, a male, gave me a snarky grin and said, "Sorry, this isn't Burger King." Apparently they don't do substitutions. Fair enough. But a lot of their burgers had cheese and bacon, so it's just ordering whatever dumb menu item there is and subtracting whatever else they put on. That's a subtraction; not a substitution. But that's beside the point. Our sever had no right to take that attitude with me, especially after our group had to wait so long to get service of any kind. I can honestly never recall being talked to that way by a restaurant employee my whole life. I'll add that when the burger arrived, it was simply fine. Nothing to write home about. Guess what? Burger King would've been better, and half the price. And there wouldn't have been pulsating music blaring loudly in your ears, making you have to scream to be heard. A really awful experience!

My only major complaint is the lack of a decent veggie burger. The veggie burger they offer falls apart into slop that’s just unappetizing. Everything else on the menu is amazing but it’s hard to take my wife here bc she’s a vegetarian. The fries are amazing. The beer selection is solid and they can make great cocktails. The only thing they need to improve upon is the responsiveness of their staff and their vegetarian options.

The veggie options here are straight up terrible. They really need to improve upon this. I can’t recommend this place for vegetarians until they stop making their slop vegetarian burger and get something better.

One of the best burger spots in NYC for sure. Creative burgers and wonderful people Update: after the 7th visit, we can confidently say that we have eliminated most of the burger places in NYC. If you love cheese, a lot of cheese, “Whitney” is the BEST Mac N Cheese burger period. Suzy Q has a Mexican twist and a little spicy. The Brenda is the best value if you like Birria - a lot of meat and simply delicious. Their boneless wings are the best - the bone-ins are also great they smoked the wings themselves for many many hours - we just prefer the boneless version. Great beers and friendly staff, Ed, Nick, Simon are always welcoming and helpful. Loved every visit and we’ll be sure to go back every couple weeks! Thanks for being awesome :)

Tuesday at 6:50pm This review is based on service only because we left without trying their food. We ordered drinks and food about 10 minutes after being seated. We got our beers right away. At 7:40 the bartender/host/server/runner/manager comes to our table and says he forgot to put our food order in and he completely forgot what we ordered. After waiting for almost an hour we decided to leave. As the place was getting busier, we did notice he looked a little overwhelmed. While we were waiting for our food (that never arrived) we also saw people leaving after waiting for some time by the door without being greeted/seated. We left the restaurant not only feeling bummed by the fact we didn’t get to try their burger but also feeling sorry for the guy doing everything by himself and not being able to provide service.

I went and gave this place a tried from what I saw on the reviews the burgers looked good so that’s why I went. Unfortunately it’s not my burger was not cooked well, like I understand people like there food medium but what I was was not even close to medium, and I’ve order medium burgers but this wasn’t it the mac and cheese was cold as if they microwave it and then placed it on top of the burger. The only good thing was the drink. My server didn’t even check up on us to say how was everything he just kept stepping outside took us forever to get a hold of him.

Was told this place was really good so we went to try it out. It was HORRIBLE!! The service was just terrible having our server watch football, never checked in to see how we were or wanted refills. The food was cold, the chicken was undercooked, the burger was missing some ingredients. We finished our food and drinks and he kept looking at the table but sat down and started to watch football. We tried to get attention but he walked away and then the second time came and finally brought our check. Also the bathrooms weren’t clean and needed attended to. Do not go here

Known for their burgers and beers, i got neither the burgers or beers from the baroness on this day. We had an hour to kill for our ferry back to manhattan and had just ate sweet chick and went to mango mango so drinks was the only option. Ill go back another time to try what theyre really good at, but on this day it was just the drinks pictured (the ginger grant, katherine hepburn). The drinks were not strong and not that tasty. Probably not something i would do again. The roof had something leaking and i thought it was raining and was looking at weather reports until i grew a brain and looked up. Not going to judge the location based on just one thing, but i know what not to do next time

Came here for lunch with a friend. Got the mango habanero wings and the Judith burger with fries. Way overrated and overpriced. They do not allow you to add or replace anything to the burgers only allow you to remove items from the burgers. Asked for lettuce and tomatoes for a burger I ordered but they said the chef would not allow to add anything. Additionally, the guy taking the order and drinks took a long time to take the order. Food was just ok nothing special. Was excited to check the place out but was very disappointed as was my friend.

The Quinn burger dish has taken a 180 degree turn. What a lingering fragrance thought persistent, it’s not clinging. It’s as though the beefs meat’s sweet flavor have been sharpened and are rushing right through you. The poached egg melts on your tongue and is perfection itself... The spicy ketchup sauce has such a refined acidity... The bacon is crisp, and the potato roll has a subtle sweetness...The perfect harmony of all these flavors envelops the tongue. Would like to thank my server Ed for recommending this dish. It’s a perfect complement to an afternoon routine. B&B’s (burger and beers).

Think twice before going here. The experience here was marred by how rude the waitress/bartender was and the quality of the cooking. While my burger was fine, my girlfriend's burger was undercooked. When we notified the staff, they offered to take it back to reheat it. It was brought back by a waitress/bartender who very rudely insisted they could not reheat it (that's fine) and that it was cooked to the industry standard of medium-rare (we disagreed). We spoke to the manager who was nice, but did nothing to amend the situation. OK burger (4/10), service (0/10).

  • Daniel Donnelly

Lively bar with flair! Purchase a bottle of champagne and the barmaid will hack it open for you using a sabre! Tables sleekly crafted from reclaimed wood. About ten microbrews on tap, and many wines, but no liquor. Menus nestled in vintage vinyl record-sleeves. American fare, not sampled during this review. “Food porn” — whatever that means — displayed on small LCDs at the bar. Supposedly the portraited Baroness is an actual personage, distantly related to the bar’s proprietor. The sister bar is the Huntress, located around the corner (though it closes earlier).

  • Farhan Ali

Great place in LIC to get burgers! The place is small so expect crowds to be there on weekends. They have a good selection of craft beers. Happy hours till 8 pm. 5$ on craft,4$ on miller. No happy hour on the food menu though. The food menu consists mainly of burgers. The burgers selection is also pretty wide. They have vegan, chicken and halal lamb burgers as well! They don’t serve fries on the side. They serve other sides though such as mac and cheese , kettle chips, cole slaw etc. The ambience is industrial. Will definitely visit to have their other burgers!

  • J B

I do not agree that it is the best burger place in Queens. Maybe best burger SPECIFICALLY for their Judith Burger. I don't recommend their Dixie. It was a sad burger....no veggies just meat and some BBQ sauce. Not worth the price for $14. The fries portion was sad. It was like a handful size of a 2 year-old that placed our fries. Wish we took a picture. Service was OK that we made up our mind to never come back. We felt the staff wanted to quickly take our order (place wasn't busy) and not bother with us.

Stumbled in here at 3pm on Saturday because we were hungry. Grabbed some beers and burgers which hit the spot. Solid burger. Had the Suzy Q and Tina, with the Suzy Q ending up our favorite. Definitely got pulled in by the “weirdness” of the Tina but it honestly was pretty standard. Great shoestring fries, which are my preference. Loved the Celine Dion bathroom. Definitely will be back if I’m in the are.

Came here to see the famous bathroom but sad to see how dirty and smelly the toilet was (it wasn’t a busy night). Regardless, service, French fries, pretzels were all great. Such a cute little local business where people come here regularly. I enjoyed cocktailson the menu but don’t go off-menu, it’s not a speakeasy so don’t expect too much!

Really good burgers!! I had Kiki (buffalo sauce and blue cheese) which was cooked perfectly. Don't get the kettle chips (very mediocre)... Get the baked beans (very good). Pretty good selection of beers on draft. I had the Kelso Nut Brown which was excellent. I also tasted another burger (the Judah) which had bacon on it. I hate undercooked bacon and without asking, they cooked it just right (firm but not crispy). Service was extremely fast! The place is small but not tiny. Very quaint. Definitely a good place to visit.

  • Giancarlo Castano

Service was okay, but not worth the amount they put on the receipt for the tip.The burgers are horrible and expensive for what you get. The sides are miserably small. The nachos in the pico and nacho side were stale. The burgers came out cold, the guacamole spread seemed old as it was dark, the truffle burrata cheese didn't taste like truffle, and the burger was too wet almost gooey . I saw a critter crawl down a wall. I didn't say anything because I didn't want my wife to freak out. I don't recommend this place at all.

Came during drag bingo and had a blast playing bingo with some entertaining queens while drinking Prosecco al fresco… couldn’t ask for more on a beautiful spring Sunday. The burgers here are no joke! Creative combinations and cooked to perfection (medium in my case). Regarding reviews about the bathroom… If you love a particular Canadian diva with impressive vocal range, this is your spot.

Proof of vaccination required. At first when you walk in the bar/restaurant looks small but there is a back area to sit and the place ends up being spacious. Great burger choices, beer and cocktail selections! Staff was friendly and helpful. Great place to go on double dates, date night, groups or going by yourself. Only thing that was not really on point was the service. It was kind of slow and I didn’t get the right food. But this place just opened and it’s worth the try.

A local bar with craft beer and yummy burgers. We walked in on a rainy Saturday evening and the place was jam-packed. We were able to score a table with limited wait time though. Ordered the “Dixie,” “Suzy Q” burgers, and the “Carolina Gold” wings. The burgers were tasty but the wings were a total miss. The wings were literally topped off with mustard - couldn’t taste anything else.

We went to this place on NYE. I don't know if it's the 2 bottles of wine, but the burgers seemed to descend from heaven. The DJ played some groovy stuff that made us wiggle our drunk bootays. I want to tell you about the bathrooms, but I am not going to because it's the awesomest and you should just live the experience without expecting anything. Even though there are probably tons of pictures of them.

I came here as my bf and I were bar hopping and this restaurant was amazing they had tons of different types of burgers for everyone from vegetarian burgers to turkey burgers and extravagant burgers. The hospitality here was very welcoming. The only thing is the Mac and cheese didn’t have a lot of flavor I had better Mac and cheese and the sangria didn’t taste like sangria but besides that great place and the burger was really good.

A great neighborhood burger joint with a good selection of wine and beer. They run a $10 lunch special until 5pm and happy hour drink specials from open until 8pm. The house white is a delicious Vinho Verde for $6 a glass during happy hour. The service is incredible: super friendly and fast. The burgers really hit the spot; I'd give them an 8/10. Overall, a low key vibe perfect for an afternoon tipple or a boozy Sunday.

Staple of LIC. They always have a rotating but amazing beer selection & fantastic freshly made burgers all named after lovely Ladies. Come here for the lunch happy hour. Extremely convenient as the train is right upstairs.

I’ve been a Baroness burger fan at their old location for years. However since they moved to the new location the new menu was very disappointing. The burgers are much smaller and the amount of fries they give on the side is a shockingly small amount. The pictures make the burger look bigger than what it is.

Awesome Burger. The meat is grilled perfect, nice caramelised taste. Only down side, no French fries as side dishes. I can't complain too much as their Mac and cheese is a killer.

Delicious, innovative burgers. I've had two meals here over the course of a few years and they were both delicious. Burgers were fantastic and the ahi cupcakes were great as well.

Will come back, over and over again. The burger and fries were a delicious combo. While the fries were a bit too salty for me, they were mouth-watering crispy yet soft inside.

My favorite burger place in all of NYC. When I bite into these delicious buns, it almost make my eyes roll back. I miss the Nikki burger, the chicken was so good.

Real solid burger with great flavor and none of the grease feeling. Great selection of beers. Nice and knowledgeable staff. I will be returning.

Great selection of beer & wine. Freshly made, delicious & unique food. Attentive, friendly service. Upbeat, lively music with a fitting theme.

The drinks were excellent. I wish the short rib wonton appetizer came with more than 4 but they were extremely tasty.

Food awesome, service.. Meh. Asked for a beer... They forgot... Completely forgot. Didn't serve water either.

  • Why can I eat so much

They do have the best burgers! I ate two! Second time visiting and it’s still good!!!

Apparently they have issues with health inspections, and their chef throws tantrums.
