It’s a lovely venue and we had a nice view of the river. Staff were also friendly. Unfortunately the food wasn’t great, largely because it was cold. We were a big group and I know that can be tricky but looking at other reviews now, it seems to not be an unusual problem, even for a smaller amount of diners and it’s such a fundamental thing to get right. It’s a shame because a lot of the food looked great. The burger & chips looked especially good (also cold). I had the roast and it was disappointing to have what appeared to be boiled, hard potatoes rather than crisp and fluffy inside roasties. There were a few comments about those. The Yorkshire pudding was quite thick & soggy - also undercooked. Otherwise mediocre but if it was hot, it probably wouldn’t have seemed so bad.

Terrible experience Waitress dropped ketchup off one of the plates, which splattered all over my hands, face, jeans, jacket and shoes. She didn’t notice that I had been hit until I started wiping it off my, now stained, jeans. She asked me if it got me, when I said yes she just said ‘oh’ and walked off. No apology, no offer for anything free or for anything off the bill. At the end of our meal, we asked to take the service charge off the bill at the end and explain that I’m covered in ketchup. One apology with a very foul face, then was off with us for the rest of the time we were there. She seemed angry at us for asking to remove it. I left with stains on my jacket and jeans, and I felt as if I’d done something wrong. Accidents happen but at least act slightly apologetic.

An old reliable Young’s Pub in Putney close to the river. The downstairs is more of your classic pub, while the upstairs is slightly more formal with some beautiful views overlooking the river, especially at night. You can expect the usual Berger, fish and chips and typical things like that. Some limited but available vegetarian and plant-based options. The food will not blow your mind, but it’s decent. As expected, there are the usual selection of draft beers and cider on tap including Aspall. There is table service which impressed me. You will want to make a booking, especially on weekends as it gets very busy.

A group of 6 of us were drinking there for many hours on a Monday afternoon. Close to £200 spent if not more. One guy loved the chicken Sandwich and chips but the rest of us mostly just drank. I have given this place a 4 star solely beacuse i ordered a non alcoholic beverage and was charged £6.60 which is outrageous. It was a pint of lemonade, lime juice cordial and a splash of angostura bitters. Its a common drink in Australia and is normally around the £2-£3 mark at a huge push. I mentioned to the bar tender that this was very expensive and he just shrugged. On the whole though he was very attentive and provided good service to myself and the group. Other than the overcharging it was a nice atmosphere with a good bar tender

Lovely attentive service from all the team. Very detailed around allergy requirements. The team made us feel at ease, it was a very special occasion for me and my family and it turned out to be a perfect choice as we felt everything was taken care of and the food was delicious. Thank you to all the team and apologies for not asking the name of the very kind person that led the service for us. I regret not asking the name (blond woman with a lovely smile) but I could tell that everyone was working quite well together and making sure our experience was perfect.

Lovely pub, with good food. We had a Sunday Roast and Bangers and Mash, the food was quite tasty overall. Starters: delicious sourdough bread with butter and anchovies. The doc is great and the fire place makes it very cosy and welcoming. There is an outdoor sitting area. The pub has loads of natural light and offer views to the river Thames throughout. Great place overall.

I left a 1* review last week but have amended this to 5* based on my experience. I had been too hasty with my previous review and had deleted it but think a positive review is fairer. The manager Usha has been super helpful in resolving an issue we had with a Xmas booking - they managed to find a reasonable solution despite the fact that there was poor communication on our end. Usha called me back and was more than open during our discussion and generally really helpful and friendly. She did take some time to respond as was respecting office hours and didn’t want to call me too late - much appreciated and something I had not initially considered.

Disappointing dinner. We were seated upstairs which was complety empty so there was no atmosphere. Service was slow and we were left waiting to pay the bill for so long we went down to the bar in the end so that we could leave. Food was okay but over priced. I ordered the plant burger and 10 minutes later was told there was no vegan cheese. This was fine for me as a vegetarian but as one of the few vegan/vegetarian options on the menu they should try to facilitate the whole dish. My partners schnitzel didn't have enough sauce and the beetroot hummus was bland.

Went for Father's Day and probably won't be returning. Only had whole milk for coffees and had run out of a vegan alternative. Had to wait ages for service when it didn't appear to be very busy. Had a roast dinner and it wasn't great, the veg was still hard and the Yorkshire puddings were disappointing. Very overpriced at £25. They had also run out of the vegetarian option. Had to actually ask someone to clear our plates twice and decided not to get dessert in the end. Went to a nearby restaurant for dessert and wished I'd booked there instead for the meal.

Service was good and the view onto the river was satisfactory; however the food itself was just okay. A few tweaks and it would definitely be a 4*. Went for their Sunday roast and ordered the beef. The portion sizing wasn't the largest, and there was a lot of inconsistency in the slices that I was given (some were very well cooked, whilst other bits were very red). Personal preference, but potentially have the gravy on the side as it slightly drowned out the cheesy broccoli. Ordered ice cream too - vanilla was not very vanilla and just not nice at all, although chocolate flavour was tasty.

We stopped by for a Sunday roast and it was delicious!! My adult daughter is Autistic and we requested a specific table which was accommodated without any fuss at all! The staff were professional, polite, attentive and so friendly and the atmosphere was brilliant! The upstairs terrace has a gorgeous view of the river! We often stop by for drinks and are never disappointed!

Would highly recommend. What a find! Lovely venue, right on the river, amazing food & great service. I met with a work colleague on a sunny day and was greeted by 2 great bar staff. The food was excellent (I would recommend the sausage roll & plant burger to every one (unusual combination, I know!)) and the service and pricing were great - especially given the location

Overpriced food. Prawn and crayfish cocktail had little evidence of either and served without the Bloody Mary dressing, which, when brought separately, ruined any taste there might have been because it tasted like neat tabasco, we sent this back. Smoked salmon nicoise, portions were meagre, didn't warrant the hefty price tag and given the only culinary skill involved was the boiling of an egg, should have either been a more substantial dish or less ridiculously priced.

Great location very near the waterfront on the south side of the river just minutes from Putney Bridge. There is a large outdoor area, but being December, we weren't going to brave that! Downstairs, where the bar is, there are a number of different types of tables and chairs for about 70 people, with some standing room and a couple of tv screens that were showing World Cup games. The mezzanine above the bar has about another 40 seats and tables, with more tv's. We were drinking Pinot Grigio. At £27.50/bottle it was good value for London.

It was pleasant evening in a very nice restaurant in a beautiful location with great service and wonderful staff. The let down was the food. Me and my 8 friends were disappointed with the sub par food. My burger was chewy with a soggy bun and flavourless, the steak was chewy, the brownie was dry and sub par, the sticky toffee pudding was burnt and rubbery. I think I would go back for a drink but I don't think I would go back to eat. It was a let down for our Christmas do.

I wasn't sure what to expect about the food but it was delicious, best pub fish and chips I've had in a while. Really well seasoned and a good portion, everyone else in my group loved their food. Good value food and drink considering the excellent location and views. Service was very quick, efficient and friendly from the lovely staff. They even fulfilled my booking request of putting us outside and undercover which was very considerate. Would definitely go back.

  • Martha Powell

Just had a lovely meal here but forgot to leave our tip despite bringing cash especially! so thought I'd leave my first Google review to assuage the guilt after realising. My roast beef was fantastic and a very generous portion. The potatoes in particular were excellent. My boyfriend had the sea bass which was also very tasty with very well cooked fish. Excellent service and fantastic view of the river, and we'll look forward to returning in the new year!

My wife and I had just returned from our honeymoon and, to be frank, we were a little bit depressed at the thought of returning to work. So on the Saturday we went to the Boathouse for a few drinks and a bite to eat to soften the blow. What an amazing place! Absolutely amazing food, polite and friendly staff in a great location. Perfect for families and friends alike. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Absolutely lovely lovely place ! All the staff are so friendly and helpful and so accommodating to your needs, they always put the customer first. The food is extremely good quality and they give you generous portion sizes which is great too. The views are absolutely incredible, as you have a view of the river whilst eating dinner. Would 100% recommend this to anyone because it really is a dream place and now one of my favourite places to go.

Good Covid safe rules. Masks to be worn when not seated and tables spread out to keep good separation. All ordering is done via the Young's app. Only downside was that my friend and I ordered on our own phones. Even though we hit order at the same time, my food arrived 10 mins after my friends. So I would say to just order on one phone and sort out the money later. The food was delicious. Staff were friendly and professional.

  • Kieren McCarthy

Lovely spot but had a horrible dining experience. Really poor cuts of meat. Rump steak was so chewy and full of gristle I actually spat it out. Kids wouldn’t eat their burgers either - which never happens - I tasted the burger and it was awful. So bad, we told the server when she asked how the meal was; she looked embarrassed and… that was it. She took away the plates and no more was said. Will definitely not eat here again.

  • Gabriel Miller

Had the fish and chips. Hard to go wrong with a classic. Very generous peice of fish and plenty of chips. We had a gluten sensitive person with us and they had a gluten free rye bread available. I hear the gluten free rye bread burger is great for those with gluten allergies. The service was spot on. Several beers were out but the staff were apologetic and provided several recommendations as worthy replacements.

What a superb location for a wonderful Sunday roast! The atmosphere is really friendly and warm, the staff are kind and helpful and the food is really delicious. I couldn’t have found a fault if I’d tried. Even though the coffee machine wasn’t working they let us go and get a take out coffee and bring it in. Will definitely come back! Had such a great time I didn’t take any photos!!

Let’s just say the hype was blown out the water, the Thames was tainted! The food was appalling for all of us and then came the desert we’ll say no more. Couldn’t fault the beer it was cold and you cannot make a mess of it. Staff were dismissive to say the least, we will not be coming back.

Visited Tuesday afternoon and what a great time we had! We were seated outdoors by a very polite member of staff and then were served by Simon which was super friendly and made the whole experience very enjoyable. I didn’t have any food but my friend had the steak and said it was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Location is amazing! Will definitely visit again.

Yesterday I took my parents. We all had different food which we decided was all good BUT the best thing was the service from the three waiters. Excellent. What a difference professional waitering makes to a meal. So many waiters and waitresses nowadays don’t give a s**t and don’t care if you come back or not so it was nice to get good waiters. Keep it up

  • Nicole Freeman

Great food and great atmosphere. The main waitress was lovely the only minor issue was that a different waitress bought our main meal out and hadn't checked we had finished our starter and didn't apologise or smile or say anything but the names of the main dishes. Thankfully we had nearly finished. Such a shame on what was an otherwise lovely evening.

  • Caroline Wood

We held our company summer social at The Boathouse. I reserved the top floor with the terrace and ordered the food platters. We were taken care of by the lovely Gary and Erica. They were absolutely fantastic from start to finish, always making sure we had everything we needed and were happy. Thanks guys you made our evening perfect ! X

  • Shelby Hawksworth

The menu was very small and most of the items on the menu weren't available when we ordered. Our mains arrived whilst we were eating our starters and when we asked for them to be sent back, we were told that they would come back cold. It was a very hot day and we had to go back and forth to the bar to refill a judge of tap water.

The worst sunday roast I've had in London in over two decades. Aside from watery gravy, soggy vegetables, and limp meat... the roast potatoes were raw! Replaced, and still barely cooked with an overly fried exterior, as though they had been sat there all week. Never again. On the other hand, the space and staff are a delight.

  • Nicola Meadley

A disappointing experience. The service was shoddy at best, the food was mediocre to poor. Fish cake very salty, risotto had very little flavour & a couple of very tough bits of asparagus. They brought us the wrong wine. Staff were somewhat grumpy. I’ve been before and it was ok, but we definitely caught them on a bad night.

  • David McConville

Had booked for a meal with friends before a night out. Half of the food was sent back. Scampi wasn’t cooked through and the potato side dish was completely inedible. It was expensive for really poor quality food and substandard service. Only saving grace is a view over the river. Wouldn’t recommend and will not return

Beautiful location facing the river, moderate selection of beers, food ok, staff kind and professional, expensive as expected in London - lunch for the three of us was £69 for an entree and a half pint each. An okay pub with a cute little terrace overlooking the river. The food quality though in no way justifies the somewhat steep prices and the beer selection is a bit lacking. Would not necessarily recommend but if you are in the area looking for a drink I wouldn't advise against it either.
