The best kept secret in Upminster, best breakfast in Upminster by a CountryMile at the Huntsman, (you would be mad not...) you get 2 eggs, 2 grilled sausages, 3 grilled bacon, grilled tomato, hash brown, mushroom, Heinz bake beans, 2 slices of toast, £7. All the products are perfectly cooked, (NOT just dropped in a fryer) grilled as they should be, FRESH bread always, Real HP and Real Heinz sauce, not a cheap substitute, ALWAYS served with LOVE and a SMILE, nothing is ever too much trouble, a real local gem, with truly passionate and lovely people, hats off to all the chefs and the whole team, Lorraine, Denise, Georgia, Jo, Steve, Marcel, Joe and everyone else that MAKES the Huntsman the Huntsman. A great place for a pint, Lunch, a meeting, a breakfast, a social night out, and a brilliant quiz on a Wednesday. What can I say... Try it.

Met with friends for drinks, wanted to order some food for a baby and nachos for the table. Some others were debating ordering lunch. We were sat at a table with a table number and a QR code, ordered a kids fishfingers and nachos, only for someone to come and tell us apparently we weren’t allowed to eat at that table. No real reasoning or explanation apparently you have to have pre booked a table to be able to eat there. This has not been my experience in the past. Also seem to be selectively dog friendly, as one of our group bought a dog and was told she wasn’t allowed in, but a short while later multiple dogs were in the bar with nothing said… Overall a horrendous experience… rude staff, terrible customer service and a lot of custom was lost due to their refusal to allow us to order food. Can not imagine the issue with allowing a baby to eat fishfingers at a seated table.

A very enjoyable meal. We went on a Sunday and it was quite busy. Two big groups at the time but we still found parking. I'm not sure where I would have parked if the car park had been full. They have Sunday set menus (e.g. £10 for 2 courses) but we went for options outside of this deal. For two, 3 course meal, it came to £53. I thoroughly enjoyed each course and would go back just for the Eton mess dessert. We were worried about waiting time due to the big groups, but the time between serving and each course was perfect. The staff seemed to be actively checking on tables. I look forward to visiting here when the sun is out to enjoy their garden area. I've attached a photo of the vegan/vegetarian menu options.

Went tonight for dinner, the drinks are well priced but the food is a hard miss, came from far and my friends were thoroughly disappointed with their dinners, we had a chicken burger that required caveman teeth to chew, my haddock was nice but most items including onion rings were really greasy with a very small portion of hunters chickens. Burgers didn’t look anything like other photos so granted this may be a one off with chef shifts and stock shortages changing quality. Nice garden, recommend for a cheap drink in the sun only, bring your own straw!

Took my kids to the Father Christmas breakfast and wow what a lovely experience. Greeted by one of the staff members as we walked in the door dressed as an elf and made fuss about the kids knowing it was all about them, the whole experience was lovely so was the food - had to get the name of the elf as she was amazing with everyone who walked though the door and made sure everyone was welcomed - thank you Julie Brand - we will be back soon!!

On arrival the lady at front of house was abrupt and pointed to our table. The table was dirty so I went and asked if we could have our table cleaned , and explained that it was also sticky . She then reluctantly sprayed it and said it will still be sticky because of the product she was using she made us feel uncomfortable

Came in today for a few drinks and a meal with my friends, was served by the lovely lady with red hair and glasses I believe her name is Marcy, she was very polite and made sure everything was good with our food and ensured we had a wonderful time. I would defiantly recommend this pub as every time I come in I am made welcome:)

This place is a really great all rounder. The selection is more than many restaurants have, good value for money and enjoyable food. They don't empty your wallet on the likes of steaks and deserts, plenty of choice for Sunday roasts. It's a relaxed atmosphere and although preferable to book, you can usually find a table. Car park can get a bit full. Only other slight criticism, more staff at bar when busy.

Best quiz in Upminster - Lorraine the quiz-master is legendary! Food is really nice - we've been coming for a few years and never had a bad meal, service quick and friendly. The pub is a really nice place to be. Make sure you book ahead if you come on a Wednesday as quiz nights get busy.

Nothing in particular to complain about really but nothing outstanding either. If you like a quieter pub in the area then this is a better bet than many.

We were really happy with the food quality and friendly service. In particular, we appreciate the value for money of having the choice of a 2-course or 3-course meal at a more reasonable price than a main at most gastropubs, without sacrificing flavor. Great for families, especially as living costs rise.

  • Catherine Hamilton

Food was tasty ‘hunters chicken’ cooked to perfection and at a reasonable price. Lorraine’s quiz keeps our group of friends returning every week! Steve behind the bar also friendly and efficient and we are always greeted with a smile by the other lady with long hair - sorry, I don’t know her name..

We held my uncles wake here and the pub was very nice. There was plenty of parking and the staff were very kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely finger buffet with hot and cold food, and more than enough of it to go around, along with plenty of tea and coffee. Thank you

  • Bill Tatlock

Quite aggressive women when we entered. People skills pretty poor. Food server Julie was nice and friendly and helpful. Nice spacious pub and location with good parking. Would go again but only because of convenience when visiting family.

Had a fab time at the Halloween quiz. Unfortunately our team mate Phoebe Phalanges didn't really help much and we came last. Always have good food and friendly service here. We quiz here regularly (Wednesday nights) and now we are regulars we are made to feel a part of The Huntsman family.

  • Raymond Sweetman

I, along with six or seven other friends, have to the Huntsman quiz on Wednesdays. The food is excellent and the quiz is a delightful experience . Lorraine puts Bradley Walsh to shame, Steve in the bar is friendly and efficient. All in all it’s a bloody good night out. Ray Sweetman

We held our Mother's funeral wake at The Huntsman & Hounds yesterday. Ideal location just up the road from Crem. and large car park. Refreshments were excellent and we had a lovely corner area where we could display photos etc of Mum. Staff

Had a stop in here on a walk on Sunday afternoon. It’s very frustrating and I don’t expect the staff to understand but if you like keg beer and see five or six options apparently available, then when you ask for one but get told only the

The experience starts when you walk in the pub, we went in for my birthday I asked at the bar where can we sit and was led to a table and told very abruptly "sit there"!! Not a good start, so we sat where we wanted, when trying to order
