I had high hopes for a nice evening when I made a reservation for my wife's birthday here about a week and a half in advance for a party of 9. I had read good things about the food here but unfortunately, our experience turned into a night to forget, full of frustration and disappointment. I called, while on the way, a few minutes before our reservation to inquire about adding a 10th person. The employee on the phone seemed disinterested from the start, asking how I made the reservation. When I mentioned it was through 'Open Table' on their website, he told me they had a private party and put me on hold to speak with the manager. Upon returning, he offered a half-hearted apology with no real remorse saying "I don't know what to say, sorry." If they were aware of a private party, why were they still accepting reservations? This basic oversight caused such an unnecessary inconvenience. To add insult to injury, the manager didn't even have the courtesy to pick up the phone and address the situation directly. A simple apology or an offer to rectify the situation would have gone a long way. Instead, the lack of professionalism displayed by both the staff and manager left a bitter taste. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but the way this situation was handled reflects a lack of customer service and organizational competence. A night that was supposed to be special turned into a regrettable and unforgettable disappointment.

I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant. As out of town guests with a large party, finding a restaurant last minute was challenging. The folks at The North Folk were more then accommodating for our group. From the moment we arrived to when we left, we were treated with some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. The chef personally came out to explain the farm fresh menu items and why some may be sold out - which was professional and much appreciated. Our server was engaging, prompt, and delivered whatever we needed. The chef came out before we left and was excited to explain the uniqueness about the bottle of wine we ordered. We were blown away by the staff’s attention to detail and passion which clearly rubbed off on their guests. We had multiple allergies in our group and the kitchen made it their duty to re-work any menu items to create a delicious meal for those who needed accommodating. The quality of food spoke for itself. The meal was fresh and delicious with a clean presentation. The steak I ordered was prepared better than at most steak houses i’ve been to. 10 of 10 people in out party were beyond satisfied with their meals (and if you’ve dined with a larger party you know how rare that can be). The North Fork - whatever you are doing, keep doing. Most restaurants should be taking notes. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Tried this place for the first time when I ordered off of ubereats about a week ago. I hesitate to leave bad reviews this place left a bad taste in my mouth so foul its been bothering me since and I need to vent and share my terrible experience. Firstly let me say, I really really wanted to like this place as there is a shortage of "finer dining' type places on uber eats in Hamilton so I was excited when I saw their menu pop up on my feed. I Ordered the steak frite medium rare and received a well done dry hunk of meat ontop of some soggy fries. I also ordered the seafood paella which was probably hands down the worst meal ive ever had from uber eats. It wasnt seasoned whatsoever. They topped it with a completely inedible bland battered fish that does not belong anywhere near a paella. To top this the mussels were dirty and gritty. Over all the menu on paper looked great and the high prices further enforced there would be some quality control but wow.. I do hope the owner reads this and you guys fix whatever lack of quality control is going on there. I likely wont be trying any food there again but your likely to lose more potential customers if you continue to serve the insult of a meal I was given.. especially at the price you are charging.

This is SO sad. During the height of Covid19 The North Fork was our “Go To” for fresh and tasty comfort food of high quality. We don’t know what’s happened. We watched their rating steadily decline from 4.8 to 4.1 on Uber Eats. We saw a Fish and Chip special Today. We added a piece of fish. That including delivery tip cost $27. Look at how this was delivered. It looks like beige slop. Coleslaw = TON of onions and very little cabbage, carrots. Over dressed and just plopped down. Not in a separate container and 2 Tablespoons is considered a “side”. French Fries = Soggy. Sad. No seasoning. Fish = More Batter than Whitefish. Again no seasoning. Delivery Driver = Wrong House. No Communication. New. Didn’t Care. Didn’t Apologize. It’s SO sad. We loved their mussels special and were working our way through their menu. But, we noticed in the early spring their delivery service started messing up orders. Now the food is just as bad. We will not order again. Nor will we ever eat inside their restaurant either. So sad…

Ordered delivery on a whim one night and I am impressed. I ordered the Pan Seared Duck and a Poutine. I wouldn't normally order duck and poutine in the same meal but I was glad I did. Even as a delivery order the fries were amazing and the gravy was full of flavour and rich. The cheese had melted perfectly. There was still a nice crunch to the fries and they held up well under the gravy. The Pan seared duck was delicious. I really enjoy duck but don't get a chance to eat it very often but I may have to. The skin was done to perfection and the meat was super juicy. The duck sat on a bed of mash and veggies. The veggies were slightly crisp and had a nice bite. The sauce poured on top had a nice flavour and didn't overpower the amazing flavour of the duck. The only thing I wished was a bit more seasoning in the mash but overall this meal left my mouth and tummy very happy and very full. My partner and I will definitely need to dine in one evening because if the food is this amazing delivered I can't wait to see how amazing it is in the restaurant.

When a Marvel movie is one day made about my life, this suffering will be my villain origin story. Made a reservation. Asked to seat ourselves. Once seated, told we can't have the table we sat at and are brought to another table with no cutlery on it. Used the QR code on the table to look at the menu and I'm prompted to order online. Already feel like I'm at a poorly run Harvey's so this seems on-brand. Someone comes and brings our drinks. Tells us the app is not actually working. Not sure how he knew what drinks we wanted otherwise? He clarifies that they just prefer we don't use it. I said fine and he said "now you know". My meal (steak frites) was delicious but I've just never had a 3oz steak before so I guess I wish it had been described as such on the menu. My husband had the Philly cheese steak sandwich which he described as "mediocre at best". We never figured out who our actual server was, so I guess that's why you have to tip up front when ordering.

Absolutely outstanding food! We are hard core foodies and had heard some good word of mouth from friends about The North Fork and we finally got around to going there for dinner last evening. For an appetizer we had the scallops in butter sauce and they could not have been cooked more perfectly! Tender, juicy and flavourful. I ordered the fish and chips and these were the best I’ve ever had outside of an award-winning seafood restaurant in London England where I had ordered fish and chips and those became the benchmark. The North Fork’s fish n chips measured up in every way! The batter was thin, crisp and crunchy, non-greasy, and the portion of fish inside was generous and cooked to perfection. The chef at The North Fork is truly gifted. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu items. The service was excellent as well. In summary, I would highly recommend the North Fork to anyone who is looking for a truly outstanding meal.

Terrific! The service was very friendly. Questions answered and tips about menu items and where they came from, and when, given. Love this menu, it's emphasis on Canadian sourced food, local if possible. I had the Yukon Elk burger - they happily substituted the blue cheese for goat cheese at my request - and fries, and my wife had the Georgian Bay Fish Sandwich with salad. Absolutely delicious and we both dug into each others sides as the fries and the salad were top notch too. For the food offered, elk, lamb, wild duck, scallops, mussels - the prices are very affordable, especially compared to other places I looked at in Hamilton before deciding on The North Fork. It was my wife's birthday and they comped us her dessert, a nice touch. Casual atmosphere and vibe. A gem in the International Village. We will be back. For sure.

I did a takeout order and the entire experience was a disaster. It was packed poorly with sauce leaking out of the containers, the terribly small portion of chicken and shrimp paella ($23) was made of frozen/reheated ingredients, and the worst part of it all were the mussels. It's pretty hard to mess up mussels, but they managed to do just that by overcooking (Maybe even reheating) it. There was no bread in the containers either. Maybe they are better with dine in service, but I won't take a chance again. Re: the response from owner; I did a takeout order through Uber eats, not delivery. The discount should've nothing to do with quality of the ingredients, taste, portion size, presentation and packing. Also, going by your logic of lesser value on takeout, your entire takeout menu should be on promotion then.

We decided to try the North Fork, as it newly opened. I think Praveen has done a great job and North Fork will be a favorite of the Hamilton food scene. We started with Caesar salad. It was perfect. Too often the salad comes with too much dressing, this one has the perfect amount. It was fresh and delicious. This salad was accompanied by the scallops, which were perfectly done. I was surprised that no cocktail sauce was included but upon reflection it likely would have distracted from the delectable scallops. The seafood paella and hot wings were perfectly spiced. Not so hot to force you to gulp water, but enough to leave a tingle. While we were the only diners, the server Joe was attentive without being smothering. He was a pleasure. Chef Praveen did an outstanding job. Thank you we will be back.

Our experience was less than stellar. The restaurant's air conditioning system didn't work at all. While they tried to find us a somewhat cooler option away from the kitchen, the atmosphere was still stifling. Our drinks arrived and two of the drinks had dirty limes in them. Of the seven orders, one arrived completely wrong, and although close (they brought a chicken penne instead of the roasted vegetable penne ordered- the option brought to the table was a more expensive choice) it wasn't what was ordered. When brought to the server's attention, he offered to make the price differential on the bill, but it was never done. Our server, an earnest young man who was very pleasant, was clearly out of his element and didn't know anything about the items on the menu when asked about particulars.

Tried Boar for the first time here it was fantastic, they also have Elk to try too. Their specials of the day are fantastic. Had a great server too. The only downside to the food was they put spicy sauce on almost everything so if you have low tolerance to spice make sure to ask that they don't put it on. The place was cozy and had comfortable chairs. However, there was no AC. It was incredibly hot in the restaurant, very uncomfortable. Also note the cheesecake is not actually NY style it's more along the lines of Japanese cheesecake.

We came on Canada Day as our plans had fallen through due to weather and wanted to try a new restaurant, hence our visit tonight. The food was excellent, much better than I expected. The house salad was really delicious, a unique blend of fruit and veggies, perhaps one of my favourite salads I have tasted. I had the elk burger and truffle fries which were outstanding. The portions were generous. The ambiance is more sports bar than intimate dining which was a bit disappointing but the quality of food and service made up for that. Highly recommend.

We’re still here! Even when they were short staffed tonight, the service with literally 2 people was amazing. They had a big group party, a smaller group and another couple besides us and they did amazing! I’m a well controlled Type 2 diabetic and they customized my cocktails so I can enjoy them without the sugar spike later. The steak frites and spicy beef nachos that my fiancé and I shared were delicious! Cooked and spiced perfectly! No pics of the steak frites because we INHALED those before I could take a picture lmaooo.

This is my first time at the North fork in Hamilton I wish I can give more than 5 because they deserve a 10. Since covid I have tried several places the the quality of food has not been the same. So I took my son to this amazing place September 17. The service was above excellent. The food was fresh and top quality anyone who knows me knows I am not easily impressed but this new find will be one of my go to place. The other amazing quality was that they discount health care workers. Amazing please keep up the good work. After 12 hours of work I was happy I had a meal that I truly enjoyed. Believe me I’m not the easiest person to please and I am above pleased Will be back with friends

I usually don't leave reviews but this one is worth mentioning. Food took more than an hour to serve and we were extremely disappointed by the experience. Not sure why it took so long since there was only one other table being served at the time. Food was virtually inedible and perhaps the worst restaurant I have dined at. Plus they made a mistake on our order which we didn’t bother to correct since the food took so long in the first place. I really was reluctant to pay for the service but we were in a rush and didn't have the time or energy to voice our concerns. Hence I have opted to place a review instead. I hope the restaurant will reach out to make it right.

looks like this place was pretty newly opened - we weren’t sure what it would be like so we made reservations- it was dead - we were the only ones in there. came here for dinner after a long day hiking in hamilton. it was freezing cold - i’m glad i had my hoodie with me otherwise it would have been a very unpleasant experience. drinks were relatively cheap i got a 9oz of white wine for a little over $9. my sandwich was good - i liked the batter but the fish really had no flavour i was expecting it to be more like a haddock / fish filet type of taste. the salad had just enough dressing it it. the one thing i did like about this place is the graffiti inside!

Absolutely impressed my wife and I! It was a crowded evening and we still got our food and drinks in a timely manner! The food was perfect, hands down the flavor combos were on point! And the drinks are way above expectation! The bartender puts an incredible amount of detail into his work and it shows in the flavor! Even made my wife's drinks sugar free which means the world to us both! Highly recommend and will be returning in the future!

Great, hidden gem in downtown Hamilton. Warm and cozy atmosphere complimented by delicious, served hot and made-from-scratch in house original appetizers (half off appys on Tuesdays, as luck would have it). Privi, part of the family ownership, provided amazing customer service (alongside his chef in the kitchen as he was short staffed that day) as the perfect cherry on top of an unexpected and altogether terrific meal and experience. I will no doubt be back, I’m from Vancouver and lament that I won’t become a regular client any sooner.

We arranged for a private party here at the North Fork, and it was an absolutely perfect experience. The bartender/server Caleb went above and beyond to make sure that our needs were met. Praveen and Caleb both worked together to help us setup whatever we needed, including displaying our media on their TVs, playing music from their Bluetooth, and everything in between. My partner had the perfect night thanks to the staff, I would absolutely recommend this location.

Word of advice Chef, if you are a New Startup and you want to be successful in downtown Hamilton, you have to be patient and consistent. You can't just close or open because you are NOT busy. TEN times, I have come there willing to support, and been told you are closing or already your pub is closed, contradictory of Google online hours. When Open? Staff and food are above average...keep it up in this economy and you won't last. I would kill for the only right downtown pub & restaurant. You have NO competition.

To start the service was exceptional. This place is apparently great for steaks. We were 6 and 4 had beef and were very happy. One had a burger which was pitiful but was quickly replaced with a salad with chicken. The chicken was overcooked. My duck breast was barely pink, so also overcooked. The best restaurant I have ever visited. Service was immaculate, food was beautiful and tasted wonderful. The wonderful chef actually came to the table multiple times explaining things. Having never really been to Hamilton we were a little disappointed UNTIL we found the North Fork. There are 7 of us and they accomodated us no problem. We had Nachos, Spicy Nachos, Elk Burgers, Crab/wild Boar potatoes skins, Chicken club all with fries as our sides. We also had a a IPA, lager, Amber ale and ceaser. The staff was friendly and the restaurant well decorated but the food was very disappointing for Hamilton's food scene. We chose to go there because they had a rating of 4.8 stars... not accurate at all. Do not get the seafood Paella ... it was not a Paella but a fried rice that tasted weird and wrong. Everything was overpriced. The cheapest bottle of red wine was 94$... for a a pinot noir. Ridiculous. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this place to anyone in Hamilton. Go spend your money at an other of their tasty restaurant with incredible food.

I order some fish and chips... guess what they did not add sauce for it.. The fish was tiny (not even close to what they advertise on the pics) and tasteless.... and you don't even add sauce which is pretty much the most crucial thing when you eat fish and chips... I am never buying again in this place... Not sure if it was all Doordarshan or 50/50 with restaurant. Missed a burger on my order. Bruschetta was nothing but tomatoes and cheese on bread (no seasoning, spice or herbs). Club sandwich was charred chicken with little else in terms of flavor, if they had any of their house mayo on it then the flavor was overwhelmed by the char. Nachos were burned on ends, very poorly topped (only a layer on the top and nothing theoughout) ground beef on nachos was also dry and charred and I received about 1ounce of it. Disappointing.

My family and I had an amazing dining experience at the North Fork. My sister raved on about the mussels that we tried and my nephews loved the chicken wings. I had the seafood paella which was delicious and the chocolate cake we had for dessert tasted amazing- I would have ordered another one if I wasn’t so full! We love that the menu is locally sourced. The servers were extremely attentive to us and friendly. Praveen has done an amazing job and I can’t wait to be back!

Had a great experience at The North Fork! The atmosphere was great, unique decor, plenty of space, service was wonderful and the food and drinks were delicious and well priced for what you were getting...half price apps on Tuesdays is definitely a great deal, particularly for the mussels. Many of the ingredients also seemed to be locally sourced which is always a win! I will 100% be going back and bringing friends :)

It was a slow night for the restaurant, and having never been here before I was optimistic with what to expect. Our server was fantastic. He engaged us in conversation throughout our meal and made us feel welcome . I thoroughly enjoyed my Elk burger. Added wild boar bacon to it....just delicious. My family was full and we were satisfied with everything the restaurant had to offer. Come down to King Street and support your local restaurants. We will return .

Took my fiancé for a special dinner and we had one of the greatest times ever !!! Staff were extremely friendly, polite and really took care of us that night. It was a special night for us and all I can say is that The North Fork staff made it even more special. The food was absolutely delicious and the setting of the restaurant was perfect for anyone looking to have a romantic date with your significant other. Definitely looking forward to going back !!!

Not sure how this restaurant hit 4. Server rushed us from the second we arrived, offering us drinks before we had our jackets off, yet couldn’t explain any of the wine on the no where to be found wine list. Had the North burger and literally “where’s the beef?” I had a bread burger. Steak was blue rare-asked-for medium. I’m giving this place a 3 because the fries were great!

Held our wedding reception here as a private party on March 18 and it was amazing. From day one planning with Praveen who works there, they catered to our every want and need and did such an amazing job with everything. We were so happy with everything and all our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. Thank you North Fork for helping to make our special day perfect.

First time ordering. They had a BOGO for fish and chips and nachos. Fish and chips are $21 (+$5 for another piece of fish) and came soggy and with a small handful of fries. But the nachos were also $21 and were literallt a handful of nachos for a portion. I mean cmon that’s a rip off. It completely negates the BOGO. Like you just took a single portion and split it in half. Lame.

I can’t say enough great things about my experience at the North Fork! The food and service was amazing. We had the bruschetta, fish and chips, elk burger with Parmesan fries, and a chicken club with vegetables. Emma was an amazing server. You should definitely check out the North Fork! I love the elk burger and garlic parm fries and I can’t wait to eat it again soon.

place is not a busy bar environment as the price and offerings is not for everyone, good place if you want to enjoy a night out with friends or family, great food and great beverage selection. Just don't expect to go there and drink your face off, you will run out of money or they will ask you to leave

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last night. Owner Praveen provided us perfect wine pairings that accompanied the unique array of fresh local food. Best seafood paella we've had in years! Service and hospitality is outstanding in this eclectic downtown restaurant. We will be back !!

Food was fantastic. Some of the best paella outside of Spain. Our group had a variety from paella to steak frites to burgers. All were excellent. Brownie dessert was very good. Gin smash was really good. Amazing place.

The food is good but portions could be beefed up a touch. They could do with an earlier start or address getting the kitchen fired up before they open the doors. This is my 2nd serving, the first being dine in. I'll likely be making a 3rd visit to challenge the ownership to a 4 or 5 star review

We used the North Fork to host our xmas party this year and they exceeded our expectations. Went above and beyond to accomodate us and gave us very generous prices for food and drink. Would definately use these services again and recommend for hosting an intimate work party for a fair price!

Great food and amazing service for the one gentleman working the tables and bar. We'll be back!

Don’t know how to make drinks. Take a long time for drinks to be made. Gives away reservations and takes a long time for food to come out. Food not warm. Desserts run out. Bartender/waiter talks to customers and doesn’t leave customers alone to talk to each other. Parking is expensive.

Service was friendly. Food was average IMO. Found it odd that the staff was actively spraying Febreeze around the tables as we were dining. They had some cool menu items but I don't think I'd recommend to friends based on some of the other great dining spots nearby on King William st.

We had an amazing time at The North Fork! The food & service was incredible (we basically ordered every single appetizer on the menu and ate them all because they were too good)!! Our server Annu was the best, he made our experience one to remember! We will definitely be back soon!

This is a culinary gem. Amazing food. Probbaly the best scallops I've ever had and I had scallops a lot of times in the Maritimes. Very friendly and cool staff! I'll come back to try the Elk burger.

finally found an absolute gem in the heart of downtown hamilton! the atmosphere was amazing and the food did not disappoint! I could not speak highly enough about the service here, brought my toddler here and even our pickiest eater finished his plate! definately recommend!

My wife and I took my sister here for her 50th birthday and it was excellent! Like so many places, they were short-staffed but told us this in advance. The server was awesome and so was the food. What a great menu! Public parking just around the corner made it easy.

Had a FANTASTIC girls night at The North Fork. The food was great tasting, huge portions, the drinks were delicious and the staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. We came out from Niagara and would gladly come back again. Definitely give this place a try!

The fish and chips wasn’t good! The beer battered fish was over cooked and burnt. Fries were over cooked and the coleslaw had too much onion in it! Tarter sauce was gross!

This is a fairly new restaurant that deserves to be supported. Menu, food and service were all great. Our family of four included a vegan and a pescetarian along with two meat eaters - all were satisfied. Portions are more than generous.

Gave this place a go, left disappointed. Service took forever, and the place was less than half full. we had to ask for anything (forks? napkins?) and the server got our original order wrong. Food was pretty good, just very very slow.

We came in with a 12 in motherday and they were able to accommodate us. Everything came out in a good time and the server/manager were able to give us some good menu suggestions. The prices and portions size are a good value as well.

This place was incredible between the food and the staff. Praveen was amazing in helping our table and I would absolutely recommend this place. They have the world's best bruschetta EVER

Wow! The food, the service, the atmosphere everything was amazing! I have never had such a great experience at a restaurant. Everything there is locally sourced and the owner and chef went above and beyond.

All seafood is superb , Joe at the bar is absolutely fantastic. Ask him for recommendations on anything! He knows what's on point. Paella is to die for , very nicely cook dish. We will be back. Our new spot

burgers are very tiny, and it comes with too much fries that are greasy and soggy quality and quantity dont match the price tag

If you say you’re open, you should be open. Made a special trip downtown to try this place. Turned away at the door even though their hours said open all day. Organize yourselves, people.

Friendly staff, beautiful place regrettably the price vs quality of food was disappointing. 170$ for 3 ppl was a bit too high and it wasn’t that good. Beer selection was fantastic !

Love their $8 wings on tuesdays! Owner is friendly and welcoming, great place overall.
