Today was the worst day for my daughter. She was yelled at by the Asian hairstylist about how she couldn't do black hair. A simple apology and decline would have been good, but she yelled no no no no in front of the store and workers. The manager did nothing. We have done her hair there before so there is no excuse for that attitude. My daughter is 7 and we paid $180 last time to do her hair there at this exact store in February. The Asian lady called her African, but we are Hispanic. My whole family is outraged and my daughter is embarrassed. We booked not 1, but 2 appointments that way they had extra time to do her hair. We all hair thick long hair and hers is just extra curly. That is why we prepare to pay more and wait longer. We have never ever had an experience like this in our lives. Just a simple no and an explanation that they do not have the experience would have been better. The manager was worse trying to explain that we were 10 mins late? Only because your staff was arguing about hair. You are a hair stylists you do hair. If you can't then don't do hair or give a box to where people can choose a stylists who can. Screaming NO in front of everyone is a horrible way. The manager should have had better manners instead of blaming the client that pays to help the store run. If the manager can't manage her staffs attitudes then again don't be a manager.

When I receive great service- I HAVE to write about it!! Just visited Ulta beauty (Alamo Ranch) and had a great experience! Being a first-time Ulta customer, I was a little overwhelmed but excited when I first walked in. The initial reason for my visit was to buy a shampoo that helps with avoiding brassy hair tones. I was quickly approached by a helpful young woman “Alexus” who was super informative about “blue shampoos” that would help remove brassy hair color. With the info she provided me I was able to confidently find exactly what I was looking for. She checked in on me later and even helped me locate a great-smelling hair conditioner for my curly, unmanageable hair. As I checked out with “Amber”, I mentioned to help Amber about how I’d heard of a “Mattifying setting spray”. Amber quickly told me of various options I had and proceeded to help me find the right one for me. When she noticed the item I needed was out of stock on the shelf she quickly dispatched a staff member to check the back for more. Within seconds Alexus was standing right before me with my setting spray!! I left the store in a super happy mood because I got what I needed and then some!! Ladies thank you for providing me with such wonderful help on my first visit (of many future visits)!! I’m excited to try all my new products! Many blessings to both of you!

I had booked an appointment online for a multi-demensional color. I went in to the salon 3 days before my appointment to show them a picture of what I wanted and to make sure that I had booked the right appointment. The next day I got a call saying that the stylist I was booked with didn't feel comfortable doing balayage and asked if I could reschedule with someone else at a later time. I agreed and I showed up to my appointment and show the picture again. I explained that I liked the red color in the picture (I already had reddish hair) and the highlights are a dark blond and thicker and multi-dimensional. I was there for 5 hours (no one told me when I stopped in that my appointment would take that long) the base color of my hair is a dark chocolate brown and I have pencil thin bleach blond highlights. No red at all! It looks terrible and nothing at all like the picture I showed them multiple times. I understand that the colors may not look like the picture exactly, but the style should at least be similar. If your stylists can't meet the requests of your customers, then tell your customer upfront. Don't reschedule me for someone else who also can't do it. I've now wasted 5 hours and $200. Its worth mentioning that I've been to other Ulta salons and have not had any issue.

Was excited to get a new moisturizer today, brought my little sister & boyfriend. Was doing fine was asked if we needed help by 3 different people & all was fine. That is until one particular associate asked us about 4 ish times. This was throughout the course of our time inside since of course I love ulta & love browsing. Essentially following us around ( which I know sometimes is necessary but I had the products I was buying visible in my hand). That being said the last time that associate asked us if we needed help she made a face while I was trying on a tester. Like an actual scowl, which caught us all off guard because we were just disinfecting the testers & trying them. I was kind of taken aback so I just told them that we should leave since it was obviously an issue being there. The cashier was great though, but overall I’m sad that I won’t be shopping at this location anymore . Maybe it was because she was in the high end area or because we were just browsing throughout the whole store, but all I needed was moisturizer & I got not only that but a bad experience as well.

Went in to find a good light weight concealer and foundation. The girl could not match my skin tone. It was pretty embarrassing. It was either really dark or extremely light. I go to the one on Bandera often and I love Ulta and the customer service at bandera..but this experience at Alamo Ranch..hmmmm..no no. I had to walk around the store several times before anyone asked if I needed help, and I had to ask them for help. After several attempts, I asked if Sephora was near, and she told me where they were..and I'm so thankful for that. They matched me in less than 60 sec. For many women that shop certain brands of cosmetics, it is expensive. It's okay if you don't have experience matching certain skin tones, I understand that. However, don't lose customers because of that. Teach them so they can know different skin tones. I'm not difficult, but if I'm going to buy quality product, I want it to fit me. No offense to the young lady, she really did her best.

So disappointed in Ulta at Alamo Ranch. Yesterday was my daughters Senior Prom and we had an appointment scheduled with Bianca, a master stylist, for almost a month. She has hip length gloriously thick blonde hair and was wanting an elegant updo to go with her dress. Ulta called at 1:30 cancelling her appointment for 3:30 because it was raining and they had a couple leaks in the roof. They ask me if I wanted to reschedule? Seriously? Prom was yesterday why would we reschedule? They couldn’t do the girls that had special appointments (updos) and then just close early? No empathy, no concern for the customer. She had to just wear her hair down because I couldn’t find anyone else at the last minute. She looked beautiful but it wasn’t what she wanted and I feel like that is poor business. Bianca is amazing at what she does but be wary of Ulta on a special event. They showed us yesterday they just do not care.

I’m only giving one star because my daughter and her friend went into Ulta a few days ago, Alamo Ranch location. Let me say that I’m big on inclusion and diversity so this bothered me so much. These girls are seniors in high school so not tiny kids. My daughter was looking for a highlighter, Fenty brand which is about $50. The woman that worked there made my daughter feel like she couldn’t afford it. She felt bothered that my daughter asked her for help and then instructed my daughter to look on the other side, where the drug store brands less expensive ones are vs department high end stuff. She acted snooty and made the girls feel like they didn’t belong on the nicer side. I’m very disappointed in Ulta for treating these beautiful and smart girls this way. Please do better! Educate your staff. Don’t judge these girls because they were wearing sweats and no makeup…… they are athletes. That is all!

Wife always loves going to Ulta, but this location seems to always be a bit of a mess, lots of items are out of stock, and saw plenty of eye shadow palette’s which were a mess because the eye shadows were all broken. As we walked the store, it was very noticeable that the entire store needed some attention. Our visit yesterday 22Jan2018 was the second in the past month. We expected a change the second time as the prior visit was right at Christmas. Nope. Same issues almost a month later. Now, my wife does not want to go back to this location even though it’s the closest one to our home. Good about the location, employees were very helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable about a lot of the products. Not as crowded as other locations, so shorter lines at the checkout counter. Maybe they’ll see this and clean up the store and order more inventory so I won’t have to drive so far.

Ulta Salon @ Alamo Ranch I went into the salon today to have my highlights done at my roots. Just regular maintenance. I told told the stylist that I need them thick and a lot of foils. She understood and started highlighting my hair. Everything was normal routine from foil to dryer to toner. After she dried my hair she spun me in the chair and my highlights were gone. My hair was all brown. They tried lifting the toner, which it did get brighter, but the top is brown and bottom is a little light. It is choppy. I talked to the manager Elaine who said that she will not charge me. I was not going to pay for a service that I came in for and didn’t receive. I basically went in to have my hair messed up for free. I would have appreciated a free service for correcting my hair the way it originally was.

I booked an appointment online, a full color with full highlights and a haircut...expecting to pay around 325.00 to have done what I wanted. I know that when you see pictures of hairstyles they will be somewhat different, however the colors should be close. Hairdresser obviously didn’t look at what I booked. Instead she did low lights with an all over toner....when that color came out splotchy I asked her to fix it. She then did an all over color that still didn’t get it to even close what I wanted and on top of it didn’t do a haircut. Granted I was not charged for any of it and was asked to come back so she could fix it. There is no way I am letting her do my hair again. I always go to Ulta but I am new to this one because we just moved there. Never again!

I know nothing about make up and I usually go to Sephora because they help me match my tones and they help me get what is best for me. I came here thinking it would be the same. I was looking for couple specific products and there was 2 ladys having a conversation and I asked for help they just pointed the direction where the brand was displaying. I went check everything was a mess. I asked 3rd lady if she could help me find the product I was looking for she also pointed just she shelves didn’t even try to help me find where the product was. I told her I couldn’t find what I was looking for she said she would check in the back so I waited but after a few minutes I saw her just working on other shelves so just just got what I saw and left very frustrated.

This store is disgusting. I spent $80 on makeup only to come home and find out that my products had been USED. They sell you products that have previously been returned and it's absolutely disgusting and ILLEGAL. I want to note that I have returned used foundation to them before and they didn't ask if it was used and they didn't check the products I returned. I've never had this happen to me before, but I want to note that Ulta has been known to do this, even with lipsticks and mascara. DO NOT SHOP HERE. But if you do, inspect your products very carefully. Also, the staff are HORRIBLE at this location. So rude and they don't even acknowledge your existence.

Today I was getting a Benefit Brow service with my mother when an aggressive customer came in, moved a stool to the counter, took off her shoes then started demanding services, getting mad when an employee told her she wasn’t able to assist. The entire staff handled the situation very well, they were able to direct the customer through check out and out of the store without escalation, and were very kind to the customers that were caught off guard by the loud customer. The women who did my brows did a fantastic job, listened to what I liked, and was so kind. An odd afternoon, but the staff still ensured we walked away smiling.

Today was my first time experience at Ulta and the manager came up to me and asked if I needed help with anything she helped me pick out a foundation and I was very happy about that she even took the time to put samples of foundation on me she was very very nice I wish I could of got her name!! She was a big sweet heart!! She made first time experience awesome and even though my birthday was yesterday she hook me up with a birthday gift! Thank you very much!!! I would definitely go back again!! Thank you to the manager she has short hair and wears glasses again I wish I could of got her name!!

I've been here a few times over the years but only now leaving a review after a recent visit. Was immediately greeted upon entry. I had to approach someone for help to color match me and had approached someone by the name Sarah. So grateful to her for her patience and help. Apparently I have a very "different" skin tone that is difficult to match, but Sarah was up for the challenge. She helped me find the closest match in foundation and concealer. She was incredibly helpful! Just wish the prices weren't so high, but not so much the fault of Ulta. Line went by quick and was in and out in about 20 minutes total.

Favorite ULTA! The salon is always good and professional ask for SUSAN! She always does an amazing job and takes her time and actually listens to you she will recommend what she thinks and see if you feel okay with that. She is a senior stylist so she knows exactly what she’s doing. I’ve been going to her for over a year and she always does a great job with my hair, my hair has grown so much since. The color she adds is just fits me perfectly! Everyone always asks who dyes my hair and I always send them to SUSAN. Also this Ulta has a lot of way more products and the employees are always nice and helpful.

They were out of most of the things I was looking for but it is very organized and clean. I was in there for about 25 minutes and not one employee greeted me or offered to help…. There weren’t that many people in the store and the employees would look at me and just walk past me. It did get to me because I actually did need help and they talked to everyone but me. When I mentioned it nicely to the cashier sassily told me to tell the manager. I did but you could tell the manager didn’t care. I still made my purchase but it was only $124 I guess that’s why they didn’t waste their time on me. ‍♀️

updating my review: i got my hair done at the salon on the 12/16 and had a great experience with my stylist, she was super sweet and understanding… however, it turned a color i did not not expect, when trying to reach out to the location communication was not great as I was told management would get back to me and they never did…fortunately my stylist saw my initial review and reached back out to me and got me to help fix it and was super understanding of how i felt. Definitely will be returning for her, just wish communication was better, but other than that i had a great experience :)

The hair salon is a horrible company to do business with. My wife has set up an appointment twice and been cancelled both times with them after receiving a confirmation call from them. Today they tell my wife that the hair stylist is on vacation and that their system messed up. I then called to find out what's going on and they tell me a family emergency happened. Two different stories makes it sound more like a lie. They don't really seem to want business from us after 2 cancelled appointments so we will not do business with them again and will not recommend this place anyone.

Walked in around 1010 am store was a mess. One of the cashiers did say hi when I walked in. No one offered assistance which odd since there was plenty of staff I could definitely understand if the place was short staffed. Bummer I spent under 100.00 but I left without certain items because i couldnt find them. I also didn't want to interup some of the conversation since the employees were talking about how a new staff member is new and it will take a while for the others to get to know her. New employee work elsewhere no one deserves that.

As a husband of a diamond member I have been dragged into many an Ulta. This might be my least favorite in SA though. First the store is layed out different than every other ulta in the world with aisles that are perpendicular the doors (typically placed parallel) and the store itself was crammed with product islands everywhere. My wife also disliked that she was unable to find any of the current point multiplying products and no one ever offered to help us in our thirty minutes in the store.

I came in with three items on my list. I had a couple of simple questions. I also was with my three kids. I found 2 of the 3 items on my own. The employees never greeted me, never looked in my direction and never asked if I needed assistance (I did.) I walked out buying nothing and never plan to return. I should add that the store was nearly empty of customers at the time. I could have easily been approached, helped and out the door as a paying customer in less than five minutes.

Y’all. Miriam earns 10 stars not 5!! I was aimlessly going back and forth through the store until she saved me from confusion lol. She was soooo informative and patient. She even got me to try something I was so sure I’d never try and absolutely became OBSESSED with it! It was near closing too and she did not rush me at all. I had an extremely long day so her warm presence made my day. Thank you so much for making me love Ulta even more!

I was impressed by how well stocked so many items were. Numerous employees stopped me on the floor to ask if I needed assistance. Crazy broad at checkout complaining about the $3.50 coupon and holding up the line. Associate kept her cool and remained professional. Additional cashier hopped on second register to expedite the check out line which I sincerely appreciated. Not always the best prices, but the sales semi make up for it.

This is the dirtiest Ulta I've ever been in. Just messy, stuff all over the floor stuff not in its place, it was gross. Then Noone greeted me, I waited in line to pick up an order because I stood at the pick up area and noone came. I was told to go back to pick up area and waited a bit finally someone came. The girl who finally came was nice. But this place is set up for theives to just walk out with stuff. It was a madhouse.

DISGUSTING AND UNSANITARY. Bought an NYX product at this store this afternoon and looked forward to trying it at home, but immediately upon removing the product from its "sealed" box I discovered that it was obviously used, repackaged, and resold on Ulta's shelves. I will be returning this heinous sample to Ulta and never shopping at any of their stores ever again.

Got an appointment within a day! Stylist was Daniela, and I absolutely loved everything she did! She did an amazing job! I went in to get my hair fixed (went to another salon, and definitely didn't get what I wanted there). She did some balayage, some color, and a great cut! Very very satisfied! After 2 years of looking for a great stylist, I finally found her!

Went for a haircut “stylist” name is Carman (showed photos) didn’t get what I asked for. They have a 7 day policy so I went back (showed more photos) and she pretended to cut my hair using thinning scissors, lol Immediately I knew she didn’t know what she was doing so I kept my mouth shut before she botched me. Just had my hair done by Nasrin! OMG the color she mixed is delicious!!!!!! I went to her because a Master stylist at a completely other location left my hair crazy red (like an orangutan) and Nasrin mixed a crazy concoction that left my hair looking BEAUTIFUL! Brunettes wanting a lighter tone, go to her! She has Magic Hands! I’m in LOVE

I haven't been to this location in quite a while, and was shocked at the stark difference between this one and another nearby location. I went to buy cologne as a gift and that area was a mess. No sample strips, missing testers, testers with no labels, very little stock. Alamo Ranch shopping used to be great, it's really going downhill.

I had my hair done with Nasrin she’s so amazing and welcoming when sitting in her chair. I showed her picture of that I wanted and she did put in some recommendations and I’m so happy with the results. I love my hair and have been getting sooo many compliments! I will definitely be going back to her for a retouch when it’s time

My visit to this Ulta was nothing but disappointment. I arrived right at 10am, when the store opened and noticed the store was dirty. The makeup display cases were unorganized and dirty, makeup all over sample display items, displays not stocked or organized. The bathroom.was filthy, trash can overflowing and no toilet paper.

Meridian in the salon is FABULOUS. She listened to what I wanted and the results are the BEST I’ve ever had! When I say she SHOWED OUT on my hair… I would HIGHLY recommend the salon, Meridian especially! You will not regret it. I have seriously never been so happy with my hair! I will be going back to see Meridian!

I want to say thank you to Carmen (Alamo Ranch) for being my stylist today. She was friendly, outgoing, and she listened to what I wanted. Carmen took her time and the end result to my haircut was a bombshell look I was going for! I would recommend my friends and family scheduling an appointment with Carmen. ❤️

No one greeted me or offered to help and I was completely ignored the whole time. The two employees that were visible to me, were hanging out and chatting behind the cash wrap. They greeted the girl that came in after me. On my way out, the two employees chatting at the cash wrap continued to ignore me.

What's not to love about Ulta? I ordered an item online after midnight and it was ready to be picked up when I got there at 11am. I was also able to exchange a foundation, for the 2nd time. I can't seem to get the color right. There wasn't any problem with the return which makes things so much easier.

My first time ever shopping last weekend and it was AMAZING! The manager helped me find the right products by asking me questions and giving me tips on how to have my skincare. The store was clean and the service was excellent. I even got a free little bottle moisturizer after my purchased.

I got my hair highlighted and cut by Vasthi. She did an amazing job! She made sure everything she did was exactly how I wanted it and helped with her expertise in areas I was unsure of. I would highly recommend Vasthi to do your hair at Ulta beauty! She’s also very fun to talk to.

Please! please clean this store I came in when they opened and it’s filthy you can tell that no one stocks it up or cleans it! I love coming here because its close to the house but the one on potranco is better but they are stocked and cleaner!

This place is hit and miss. Sometimes you can get help from the staff, Sometimes you can't. It was so hard trying to find a helpful employee the other weekend we gave up and left for another beauty supply store.
