"I can not say enough about the incredible experience we had here for my daughter’s 8th birthday! Julie helped coordinate and accommodate everything I wanted for my daughter’s party months in advance! Her communication made the stress of party planning minimal! Once we arrived the day of, the manager Kenny and his staff were more than amazing! They were so nice, patient, and made the party even better than what we expected! My guests had so much fun and our hearts are still smiling from how happy our daughter was because they made her party awesome! If you’re looking to host a party at a movie theater…you should look no further because Ultrastar at Mission Valley is your place! Thank you so much!"

First time in the theater and let me tell you that for anyone who wants to catch a flick, it's suitable. I came in at a good time (thursday). On Thursdays, they have a deal where you get to watch any movie at a discounted price and 50% off movie and popcorn. Ordered my ticket that day and was for $5 (yup, you read it right). The prices for the condiments was decent, especially the combo. Lastly, the seats are very relaxing. There's a button on the right side of each chair where every movie you watch with loud thuds or anything similar to those sounds will vibrate and maybe move side to side like a rollercoaster (crazy way to describe it but it was amazing ). Definitely worth your money and wouldn't mind coming back in case I'm in town.

We love this place! Mainly because the crowd is low, employees are so nice and large seats. We’ve been coming here for about a year now! Normally the employees are nice and welcoming! But they hired a ton of teen girls, and today was not the best experience. They acted as if us coming in and ordering popcorn was an annoyance especially one of them. Lina I believe her name was, was extremely rude the moment we entered. We spent about 40 bucks on food and almost just walked out because of her attitude. Truly hope that changes because we want to continue coming here! But she absolutely made us uncomfortable and the people after us said the same thing.
We visited this theater on Christmas Day because the prices ($10 for every movie showing) is amazing! Each seat is roomy and comfortable, get there with some extra time to get a seat with your favorite viewing preference. I lost my wallet here and went back the next day. The very kind manager, I think his name was Mike, was so hard-working - behind the counter trying to get to all the customers in a timely fashion. He found my wallet and returned it to me. What a honest man! Go visit this business and support this business. Thanks Mike!!!
Came here to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and this theater was great. Pros? High quality seats (patent leather, good leg room, large cup holders), massive screen (or maybe they're all the same?), a sound system like Dolby Atmos almost, and a clean lobby. Cons? The seats don't recline as far as I can tell nor is the seating staggered (so they don't get higher off the ground the further back you sit). Would I visit again? Definitely. Is this a good place for groups? If I could watch Black Panther will a full house, you betcha.
All of us that ate the hotdogs(4 out of 5 of us) ended up throwing up all night, even after requesting that they make the one auditorium cooler for medical reasons(it was very warm in there, hotter than it was out at the concession stands) they still didn't turn down the temperature, the popcorn which normally is amazing movie theater popcorn was bland and no one even ate half of theirs because of this. This was our first experience in a movie theater since covid, definitely will not be going back to this theater.
I've been coming to this theatre for about 8 years now, and it's my favorite place. It isn't as busy as most places, which is great for me, because it means less people talking loudly and bringing crying children. The seats are great and comfortable, they're a bit worn down from when they renovated a few years ago, but they're still better than most places. The popcorn is also great! It's so much better than AMC. This place is perfect for early matinees and even date nights.
This theater is trapped in the 90's and I mean that in the best possible way. It takes me back to being a kid, but with much better seats. We love the plushy thick seats. Basically this theater has it all. Comfy seats, comfortable atmosphere, affordable tickets, food, drinks, and a wider variety of alcohol than I've seen at most theatres. This is the only theater I go to anymore. AMC theaters just feel too corporate and cold and WAY too expensive. Ultrastar is the best.
The picture is recently....so these red sits you turn on and you fill when the things are moving the sit move too is kinda fun ...but I got dizzy a little bit...so I turn off . The movies start the time is in the schedule...no after no before ...the rooms are not extremely big ...so is really quiet and not much noise of the people so you can concentrate on the movie . I like the snacks and are not so expensive just right prices I guess. Thanks ...enjoy your movie !
Omg, never again! Went to go see Oppenheimer on $4 movie day on one of the hottest days and NO AIR CONDITIONING. For a 3 hour movie. It was like a sauna, heard so many people coming out saying how hot and that they were sweating. So I know where they cut their prices for Cinema Day..it really sucked. So the owner just replied; they did not let people know that the air conditioning was out, even though they knew it was out. I do not find that professional by any means.
Rented a theater space for a private event. EXCELLENT experience, can't say enough good things! Communication before and during the event was excellent. The staff were kind, welcoming, gracious and generous to our group. It was a pleasure, and I highly recommend this spot for private events! They even offered to put a message in their outdoor marquee for our event and give us happy hour pricing on drinks- big-time bonus things! SO RAD! Thank you Ultrastar staff!
It’s O t. 2023 and I miss going to Ultrastar star. Being a Disabled Senior, I find this Theater easy for access. Their staff go out of their way to make me feel comfortable! (4 yrs ago) : Always the easy theater, to get to by Trolley. Take Green line to Hazard Center stop. Walk across the street, you are there. They serve coffee, beer, wine, & the usuals. Tuesdays are the low price days.
I love this place! Still reasonable ticket prices, a rarity these days. They have upgraded all their seats to comfy plush chairs. The staff is always incredibly kind and helpful, another rarity. And now they also serve beer and wine, at surprisingly reasonable prices. We get the popcorn card every year, $35 gets you popcorn for the year. It's the only movie theater I go to these days.
Nice place to see a movie. They have all the latest releases to choose from. I really liked the big comfortable seats. The food selection was good and they serve beer and wine if you want it. Prices for movies were good and the snacks we're reasonable. The place is right of the Hazard trolley stop so that's convenient. I would definitely make this my go to place for new movies.
This movie theater is hidden and very old. I don’t think I will be going back. They don’t have a soda fountain, condiment station or a butter machine. You have to ask for everything which is ok for me but I don’t think it’s good for employees since they are very busy with other more important tasks and sooner than later they won’t have time to be accommodating everyone’s needs.
Went to UltraStar for a friend's child - 9 year old birthday party. The staff was quite nice. We had a nice area that was set up with 2 tables for us to bring in pizza, salad, fruit, and cake. There were about 10 small tables and enough chairs for everyone. We had the place to ourselves before the theatre opened at 3pm. The kids had a great time celebrating and watching Sonic.
Very friendly and attentive staff! The team helped me plan a special event / baby friendly screening for our San Diego moms group - from start to finish and even after the event, they made sure our group was having the best experience and that every detail was taken care of. I highly recommend this movie theater and their staff and can’t wait to host my next event here!
Old movie theater/cinema. Dbox experience was mehhhh just because I have had a much better experience elsewhere. Its probably because the seats weren’t recliners etc… initially i felt that the place was a tad run down but realized that a huge amount of theaters in San Diego area are just old. However, I will say that the staff is wonderful and very helpful.
My absolute go to movie spot on Thursdays with my wife. The theater is clean along with the staff is friendly. Movie tickets on Thursday are cheap especially when a new movie is released. A large pop corn is five dollars, I cherish this place. Thank you UltraStar making a movie theater affordable also enjoyable compared to Amc or regals movie prices.
Amazing deals at this location especially in the mornings. The seats have been upgraded if you haven't been here in a while and are large with lots of padding. The food selection is better than most theaters in my opinion and I like the White Castle Sliders. They serve Stone Brewing beer here as well. The theatre never feels busy which is a plus.
For a Saturday afternoon, park was super easy free and available and the movie theater was pretty much dead. Seat were very comfortable and wide. The 9nky slight downside was the staff were in short supply so you had to wait for service. Not their fault though as the staff tried. Thursdays is 50% off popcorn and $5 movie tickets.
Good prices, good food and groceries, good parking. Small theater. Best seats at center and from the midle to back are D-box , is supposed to be motion seats but with out that option on were very uncomfortable. As far as I know per 8 dollars extra you can enjoy the D- BOX seats so your movie ticket would be between 15 - 19
Will 100% be going back! AC on point, leather seats with arm rests that lift up, best popcorn I’ve ever had (seriously! ask for extra butter and you won’t be disappointed) and happy hour beers. Tickets+popcorn+2 beers=just the cost of admission at AMC. Never stepping foot in an AMC again in my life because of this place!
Very impressed with Ultrastar's customer service. I emailed the company 6 months ago to inquire about the parents night out baby friendly movies. Imagine my surprise when I received an email back 6 months later to follow up because they are getting ready to start the baby friendly movies back up! Thank you so much!
My far my favorite theater. $10/ticket and very comfortable chairs. One issue is that the snack attendant “Javier” is a damn tool. Asked him a basic question and it several times of repeating it before I gave up. The girl there was nice and the only helpful one. Great theater apart from that. Always recommend it
This place is a deal! $10 anytime everyday. They have wide, back reclining seats. Their concession offers your usual popcorn, hot dog, nachos, soda, and a variety of candies. They also have hot pretzels and alcoholic drinks. It's never usually busy when I visit, making it great for me
A comfortable & easy theater for viewing movies. Easy parking close to theatre. Great prices with outstanding selection of delicious food & beverages. Hopefully, HARRY POTTER series will begin again soon. My family, grand kids, great grand children & cousins are waiting anxiously.
Glad to see more people going to the movies here but it was not hard to find a seat for the 3:45 Sunday showing off Oppenheimer. Sears are comfortable although they don’t recline and you don’t reserve in advance. The ticket prices are awesome at $10 and the popcorn was good.
It was my first time back in the theater since COVID lockdowns. Not that I was frightened of that, I had just grown accustomed to doing other things. I'm glad I went back - especially with seeing the new amazing cult classic Cocaine Bear - and can't wait to go back again.
Love the old school laid back vibe. Easily one of my favorite theaters in San Diego. Good pop corn too. My one and only complaint is that they don't play that many art house indie films, and they don't have many shows after 9:30 pm. Oh well. Still a great fun theater.
I LOVE THIS THEATER! It is clean, the seats are very comfortable and the quality looks great. Popcorn is so good. I'm really grateful for the baby friendly movie viewing slots on Tuesdays. I have gone twice very nice staff. Will definitely keep coming back
Pros: a little cheaper than other bigger theaters. ($5-$7) Not as crowded. Comfier, bigger, reclining seats. Cons: snacks/drinks are still overpriced. smaller screens. Less movies available. kind of hard to find, and a bit of a walk from the parking lot.
This is my favorite place, please don't go to ruin it for us regulars. Friendly staff, clean, beer, hotdogs and always 10 bucks! Free parking! Please remember to turn off your cel phone and tip the teenagers with great haircuts working at the counter!
This is a great place to go see movies. The theatre is clean, the ticket prices are fair. The selection may be limited sometimes, because this theatre is rather small unfortunately, but they usually have a majority of the movies you'd want to see.
A very nice movie theater experience! The staff is friendly and the prices overall are fair. Their garlic parmesan pretzel bites are delicious! They seem to be missing a few of the basics as far as drinks go. I ended up ordering Dr. Pepper
Arrived right at movie start time. Waited at the box office to purchase a ticket for 5 minutes before someone walking by yelled across the lobby that I could go to the concession counter or there was a kiosk inside; there was no sign or
Love that this theater does a parent movie night! It's hard to make a morning one, but they do a night one! I have to say the staff was amazing. The gentleman at the concessions let me purchase tickets through him and the best part! He
Came to see a movie for two, really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the comfortable seating. Fair prices and a good selection of basic concessions (and beer/cider to pair) means I'll be coming back for more showings in the near future.
Cheap tickets. Fairly standard expensive menu items, but slightly less than say AMC. Chairs are very large they give you plenty of room and are very comfortable. It’s usually not very crowded at all. They also show movies a day early
Easy 5 stars from me. Not overly packed, no long lines, staff were very professional and polite, cozy and smaller theater as well. The red seats also move/vibrate in conjunction with the movie. I’ll definitely be coming here again!!
Affordable tickets that you can’t beat. The only reason I didn’t rate them at 5 stars is the cleanliness of the theater— it felt like I was waking through maple syrup in the aisles & the audio quality isn’t stellar.
The theater was so hot everyone was stripping down. We all wanted to watch the movie Dr. Strange.. The seats aren't that great even though they're big. This for the price... Make sure you say something if it's hot!
Good price. Clean facility. Friendly staff. It's not fancy, but it's never crowded, which I appreciate. Plus, the D-box seats are pretty cool. If they just had better nachos this place would be my go to theater.
A movie on the big screen for $10 can you believe it? I’m definitely going to come to this spot regularly from now on. Moreover, they have a daily happy hour (beers for $5) and you can take the trolley here!
The price can't be beat. The chairs are old and even though they recline back ...they don't stay. The popcorn was not good. 9 bucks for a large and you get unlimited refills if you can stomach it.
I love this movie theater. Good ticket price, good hotdogs, but above all, is one of the few theaters that still captures that 90's experience of going to the movies. Straight to the nostalgia.
First time here. Very cute theater tucked away off the expressway. Not very crowded just how i like. Looks clean too. The seats are more comfortable than AMC to me. I just wish they reclined.
Overall I liked it more than AMC, the prices are a lot better. They also have a bar which is awesome. However the seats aren't stadium style, the food is just ok, and it's pretty small.
Great movie theater!! We liked the food and drink options, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the recliner seating was very comfortable. We'll definitely go back.
This is our favorite theater!! Always an enjoyable, comfortable experience. The staff is wonderful and the concessions are the best!! Very affordable too!! Fabulous all around!!
Love this theatre. We go pretty regularly to see movies with a friend. I love the option to preorder snacks and drinks when you purchase tickets. It really helps.
my all time favorite, deightful young and energetic staff. Laughed at my zaney personality. Prices are the best anywhere. Chicken tenders absolutely DA Best.
Comfortable seats, good screen and sound system. $10 tickets, but buying it online adds $1.50 fee per ticket. Vinyl seat covers might be too cold for some.
kind of an old theatre, but it was still cool! the movie m3gan was great, and the cashier was very generous with the popcorn!! super chill! 10/10 rec
Great theater! They have specials on some days and the staff is always friendly. And of course, you can't beat the price! Love watching movies here!
Best overall cinema in SD imho, centrally located, great value, clean and comfy plus the staff is excellent. Highly recommended. …
We loved it. The theater was nice and the attendants were hospitable. The seats are comfortable...so yes we come almost every Thursday now.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. The theater had lazy boy chairs ( non reclining tho ), short lines, and super clean.
This is one of those movie theaters that are like the old ones used to be. Good price, a movie and an old fashion seat.
Small, comfortable, nice staff. They sell beer and wine. I was happy but the seating is not stadium style, just flat.
I love this place close to the hotel I was staying. All the employees are so nice. Theater is very clean and nice.
Got to experience the Dbox seats. It was fun taking the kids. Theater was clean and staff very polite and friendly
Staff is kind. Theatre clean. Food was regular movie fare. Although the pretzel bites were different and good.
Great price to see a movie. Comdy chairs. Good beer and wine selection. Have half off drinks on certain days!
Love this theater!! Cheap price and comfy seats. Parking was the only weird thing which is why it’s 4-stars.
The manager on duty was awesome. Great prices and daily specials. Highly recommend checking it out.
Great deals. Comfortable seats in large theatres. Easy access and lots of safe, free parking.
This is our favorite movie theater. Cómo on thursdays for $5 movies and popcorn ! …
Amazing local theater. Great prices, staff and concessions. Our go-to movie theater!
Affordable movies on Thurs night. Comfortable seats, nice size screens
