I’ve been here several times with my Kitten, it’s true that they get into absolutely everything! ‍♀️ I’ve had a range of experiences with staff, techs, and vets at this facility. This is an emergency clinic open 24/7 and that in itself is worth 4 stars to me, because you can count on everyone here to give your pet the care they need at anytime, which is a huge relief. Wait times are long, thankfully none of our emergencies have been extremely urgent, but usually I’ll call ahead and ask to be put on the waitlist if they have one so that we’re not just waiting in the car. I appreciate how front staff will give me an accurate wait time estimate then call when they’re ready for us, they are consistently friendly and understanding. I’ve had instances of techs being incredibly kind, thoughtful, and caring of my pet, and techs that hardly acknowledge they’re caring for a living being. I’ve had vets that are knowledgeable and follow-up with us, and a vet that said he “just wanted to poke it” jokingly to a tech right in front of me, talking about draining fluid from a lump on my kitten. Prices suck, let’s just be clear about that. But it’s an ER so what can you say. The only real problem I have with it is they don’t always tell you all your options, like that I could choose to have x-rays read in house vs send them off to a specialist to interpret for another $200. Bottom line, I’ll continue taking my baby here when necessary, because I know I can count on them and overall their system works well. It’s also a spacious and clean facility which is a plus. Thank you all for what you do for our cherished little fur-babies!

Despite the mixed reviews of this place, our family highly recommends VCA Becker of San Antonio. In 2017, in the middle of the night, our deaf white boxer Colt was bit by a rattle snake in Laredo, TX. We drove nearly 3 hours to this facility because they had the anti venom ready and were prepared for our arrival. They treated him as soon as we drove up and we had our baby for a couple more years. Fast forward to June 2022, Colt started to become ill. We tried to treat him locally in Laredo and despite the vets best efforts we made the decision to bring him back to Becker for further evaluation. Unfortunately, after spending thousands of dollars there was no saving our beloved Colty Bear without putting him through additional pain. We made the decision as a family to have him put down. Unfortunately, through the chaos of this decision I don’t remember everyone involved but I hope you remember us. You all were fantastic. We had a Sympathy room and spent an incredible amount of time with Colt. The vet came in and explained to us what was going to happen and ensured we were comfortable with our decision. The techs continuously provided their sympathy to us. After he was put down, we received a card in the mail and a phone call followed by a text message again with their deepest condolences. Having to put a family dog down is hard but having a community of people out pouring themselves to us has helped us know we made the best decision possible. Thank you employees of Becker and management. You hired excellent people. Sincerely, the Rodriguez-Martinez Family.

Update/ March 10,2021 VCA Becker continues to leave me in aww at their care and love for my beloved snowball.Greg is a outstanding human!! The love, friendship & care he has shown me and my dog are impeccable.Joann in grooming is the best around her patience and creativity is amazing!!! & last but not least Courtney she is so sweet knowledgeable amd understanding I seriously do not know what I would do without this amazing place this! I call it snowballs second home. I cannot express how grateful I am for a veterinarian hospital to take such outstanding care of my Standard poodle. From first impressions walking in its like a human emergency room. The staff at VCA Are kind, educated and VERY compassionate. Its a very clean environment, well lit and there is coffee, water and snacks available for free! Not a big deal to most but is very nice if your there for a few hours and are worried about your pet and don't wanna leave. My poodle went in for a spay and Tumor removal all very routine but still very scary for me.The staff comforted me and put me at esse and even worked with me on the cost.If you need vaccinations or any other care for your pet I highly recommend Becker Animal Hospital!! You can't beat their prices! I have never in my life been so happy with choosing VCA to care for my beloved pet. They went above and beyond what I thought I was going to receive to ensure the heath and safety of my dog. THANK YOU Becker Animal Hospital for being completely AMAZING!!!

Poor service, and can be very expensive. I took my cat for an exam recently because he was in pain while eating and after waiting approximately an hour, I was able to see a doctor. The doctor was kind but only spent about 5 minutes during the examination. He determined that my cat's throat must be swollen due to a possible infection. I did not challenge his diagnosis, since he is the expert and seemed highly knowledgeable. So I accepted the antibiotics and prescribed medicine he recommended. My total was a little over $300. So far, that's all completely fine with me, so long as I get quality care. But after a few days, I noticed my cat's condition worsen. He seems to be in extreme pain, even when eating wet food. The prescribed medication also could not be given to him in his current condition. I called the hospital and politely explained that the diagnosis may be incorrect and we may need a re-evaluation. The representative on the phone doesn't seem attentive to the situation and said that a re-evaluation would cost the normal $120 fee or $80 if the vet agrees to the reduced re-evaluation fee, plus any applicable medication. This seems incredibly high if the diagnosis was indeed incorrect. I'm not even upset with the now obvious misdiagnosis, I understand that people make mistakes but it shouldn't be at my expense. Overall, I had a very poor experience.

We needed emergency services for our 6 month old Sphynx who’s throat suddenly looked as if it had a ball the size of a plum. We are have numerous fur-kids that the VCA cares for with so much love that we automatically drove to Becker, which was purchased by them. We walked in very panicked, not sure whether her breathing would stop. She was whisked back immediately and placed in triage. Less than 10 minutes later we were taken to a room. The vet tech who initially took her, came into the room numerous times keeping us in the loop. The doctor, Dr Fletcher Przybyla, came in about 30 minutes later. He spent a great deal of time with us listening and walking us through her condition and a game plan. We truly appreciated his kind demeanor and detailed advice. We were able to stabilize her and give her medication & Take her to our VCA and vet the following morning. We are SO very grateful to the entire team at VCA Becker for their prompt help. Attention to detail and for helping make our baby girl well. We would highly recommend taking your pet in an emergency to this location.

VCA Becker continues to disappoint. I have four dogs and generally only take one dog to this vet because he is aggressive. My experience with Becker the high price you pay does not equal the value of service you receive. Although I have met really helpful VET techs, the VET, the price of "treatments" and multiple miscommunication is the reason for this review. I'm no longer going to use VCA Becker. My last visit they quoted me $1,300 for xray, medication, to send the xray to a board certified radiologist. I only paid for the $109 consultation where VET told me, my dog might have an obstruction. Front desk made me pay in the front instead of sending me a link. First requested that I leave my things at the front desk and then asked me, "You're going to pay for your bill, right. You're not just leaving." Lol. The treatment is not a surprise. It's my fault for coming back to this....I switched to Eagle. Please beware of this establishment. There are other emergency hospitals in San Antonio!!!

Do not go here! Our dog got hurt the night before and was limping. We took him the next day to the hospital. They told us we HAVE to get our dog aggressive training. Ummm.. he’s a freaking guard dog. We live in a bad neighborhood, and there is a lot of break ins. Don’t tell us what to do with our dog. Also, the vet was grossed out by dog pee. Our dog was scared, he was nervous, but a vet that is disgusted by pee?? I don’t trust that. However, prior to even taking our dog for tests he said he had a cruciated ligament, and said his other leg would be that way in a year. They sedated our dog for 4 hours to run tests on his leg. Quoted us $4k for surgery. After picking up our dog, the vet said specifically “I think this is what’s wrong with your dog”. You think?? We’re supposed to pay $4k off of a thought? Not facts. So we took our dog and left. They tried to convince us to do it, but I did not like the rudeness of the technicians. On top of that, they made our dogs condition way worse.

The things i can say about this place. If it was possible to leave 0 stars, I would. Honestly, the times I came here with my now deceased doggo, it was strictly out of convenience since they were open late. It's taken me so long to actually be able to write a review because my heart broke when my baby girl passed well over a year ago. Don't get me wrong, some of the techs were amazing and very friendly. But they do work for a business, and that business only cares about profit. Long story short, I advised them I was canceling the senior paw "health plan" I had for my girl because she passed. I was lucky to have lost my debit card around the same dates because they failed to cancel the plan. No, they did not get any additional money from me, but only because my card information changed, but they would have if they could have. Months after my girl passed, I still get messages about an "outstanding balance" like it was so easy to continually have to tell them that my girl died.

I unfortunately had to make the decision tonight to put down my childhood dog. One of the toughest decisions I ever made. I don’t know the name of the girl who i was dealing with, but she was very nice and empathetic. The grieving room is comforting and they usually have a doorbell to let everyone know that you are done and need their attention. Unfortunately it was as broken for me tonight so I was told to poke my head out to let the staff know. After sobbing over my dead dogs body, I poke my head out to let the staff know I was ready to let my baby go. The doctor who just put my dog down goes “I did my part I’m not going back there” to the staff of four people just standing there looking at me. Where’s the compassion? I luckily got the same lady who I was dealing with and I told her what just happened. She seemed shocked and understanding why I am upset. $500 for that.

VCA Becker Animal Hospital is a top-notch facility that provides exceptional care for pets. The staff is highly knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely care about the well-being of animals. From routine check-ups to more complex procedures, they offer a wide range of veterinary services. The hospital is clean, organized, and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable environment for both pets and owners. The doctors and vet technicians go above and beyond to explain procedures and treatment options, making sure pet owners are well-informed and involved in the decision-making process. Overall, VCA Becker Animal Hospital is highly recommended for any pet owner seeking quality veterinary care. Thank you for taking care of my baby boy Tasi. Highly recommended hospital

Came in with my 13 year old pup who had a nose bleed. She stayed over night and had dental surgery done the next morning. The staff was very nice and answered all of my questions which relieved my uneasiness. Although the bill was pretty steep, they did a great job with her and her happiness is worth all of it. They walked me through her post operative procedures and told me to call them if I had any other concerns. I was hesitant at first to take her to Becker because I had heard negative reviews from other people. I am very glad and relieved that things went so smoothly. Side note to the Vets and Techs: The walls are very thin so costumers can hear every discussion/ complaints you have during these “private chats” while waiting in our rooms.

Our dog was bitten by a rattlesnake an month ago and barely survived. The ENTIRE staff - from Dr’s to front desk, to techs and even pet resort staff got to know our dog Jacques as he was there for 6 days. Did it cost a lot ? Yes ! I highly recommend per insurance ( as we now have after the fact) but worth every penny. I continue to get messages from them checking on his status, and I truly felt the staff genuinely cared for my dog and even how we as owners were coping. Our dog had a severe bite case and pulled through thanks to Becker VCA - we will be bringing him there to board when he is well so he can visit all the friends he made while in the hospital. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Monday October 02, 2023 I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my baby girl LILY of 9 years to sleep due to her health. Everyone was so nice and compassionate from the gentleman who answered my phone call twice to the technician who spoke to me like a human being and not just a paying customer to the sweet Dr who helped my baby cross the rainbow bridge. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this heartbreaking time a little easier and answering all my questions. I’m at peace knowing my baby girl was in gentle and caring hands on her last moments on earth, thank you to everyone who treated us so kindly, thank you so much.

  • Tom York, Jr.

We had to make the decision to help our dog Luke to cross the rainbow bridge. Sadly, after a two hour wait we were called into a room. The technician presented the costs, I was flabbergasted at almost $500 for the procedure. The last time we were there it cost about 185. We should have asked up front, but didn’t. The tech was not very sympathetic and made us feel bad about the situation. We left and went to Shavano Vet, and the procedure was $93. And they cared, the doc was sympathetic and comforting as well as the staff there. We had used Becker in the past, but will no longer going forward. The profiteering off of people losing a pet is unconscionable.

DO NOT GO HERE! We found a big lump on our dog's throat and were really worried, so we took her to the only place that could get her in the same day. They basically convinced me she had terrible cancer and needed immediate surgery. We took her to another vet a few days later, who quickly determined that it was an abscess. After just a few days of antibiotics and hot compresses, the lump is almost gone. If we had listened to Becker, we would have spent $4000 on an unnecessary surgery that my dog very well might not have survived. They also play bait-and-switch with the prices, so even the X-ray ended up costing twice what they initially told me.

Even though I have read some not so good reviews and pricing vca Becker will always be my choice I had a sweet small doggie 17 years and this hospital was the only one that really cared and tried to save him time later I got another doggie and he is a regular patient I would never trust my doggie with another place being a true animal loving person I can say from experience that they really care at vca Becker and I have always recommended them to others I'm sure if my now 50lb doggie could talk he would approve. Keep up the great work and caring attitude that is what really matters animals are family

  • Leonni Avalos

We have been bringing our pets to Becker's for a while but service has just been terrible the last few years. I seem to be waiting in the room for 4 hours before leaving the hospital and getting all my questions answered. Once the vet enters the room, they don't even touch my cat because she is meowing and showing signs of "hostility" They immediately say they have to sedate her to even get a look or feel at her problem site. I've gone to another vet & they were not afraid to touch her. They are very expensive and you can get treatment, care, and attentiveness somewhere else for so much less.

  • Andrew Hagn

Finnegan, our 9 year old corgi, came in with severe stomach issues. We are out visiting Texas from Colorado Springs for our 26 year anniversary. After several tests and x-rays, they discovered cancer. We had to let him go over the rainbow. From the first moment we came in till the final moment they were with us. All the staff; Vet technicians Eddie, Christine, sympathy room techs ( I wish I remembered your names ) and Dr Kelly Brown. You are amazing and caring people. If I lived here, all of you would be my first choice as our dog's staff. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Andrew and Christina

  • Erin Garza

I had taken a sickly kitten I found here and I was immediately given options with the utmost sincerity from the staff, tech, and doctor. I unfortunatley had to make a difficult decision regarding the kitten, and the staff was incredibly caring and reasurring. If you're looking for a vet who genuinely cares about your pets and will help you to the fullest extent, this is the one. I also want to thank the people at the front desk and my specific tech for being so kind and walking me through all of my options. This has been the absolute best service I have ever been given.

  • Emilee Rodriguez

My daisy baby died a day before Halloween.. & the employees here were amazing and very caring about my baby passing. Very nice. I was able to get my baby’s ashes 5 weeks after that was the only thing I didn’t like but was understanding about it. I usually called almost every other week and they were very nice and letting me know even though I was bugging a little bit. They definitely did an amazing job. I would highly recommend this place for your babies cremation. Thank you again guys!

  • Elizabeth Torres

After losing my senior pet to old age I was devastated . I searched places to cremate her and came across VCA Becker. From our first interaction they were caring and sympathetic and treated my Maci as though she was a member of their family. I can’t thank them enough for the peace they have given our family. We picked up Maci today and the sweet card and beautiful urn was so heartfelt. To the entire staff, thank you all so much.

  • Judy

This place is pretty much always a rip off. We stopped coming here in the past because they want to charge you the world to look at your pet. Well we decided to give it a try again and they didn’t even touch our animal and we had a $109 dollar charge because the doctor walked in the room for 3 minutes. The quotes are outrageous for the treatments. Unless it is an absolute emergency do not come to this place. Save your money.

  • Cassandra Garcia

I was a little skeptical about coming to this animal hospital. Mission VCA closed down and our appt was transferred to this location. I've heard horror stories over the last 10 years about VCA Becker. However, our Tech Sky was so amazing with our fluffy boy. Sky was gentle, loving, and handled him so well. She definitely made a great impression and we wish we can have her going forward. Dr Ben was very informative as well.

  • Ryan Mandujano

Took my cat here for issues urinating due to a blockage. Immediately was only presented with the option of hospitalization with sedation to install a catheter to drain. Long story short the bill would have been 3200.00. I instead took him to animal crossing veterinary hospital in floresville who prescribed me oral meds to help as he was able to urinate still. Which cost 142.00. Needles to say I won't be returning to Becker

  • Destiny Campa

Daniel was AMAZING and the entire staff was so friendly/understanding when we came in with our injured pups. He explained everything so detailed, helped us understand the situation, the cost of things, all the while being very comforting during the stress our family was experiencing. Best location with the best staff. You won’t regret coming here!

  • Rachel Mitchell

The first year experience went well with this new vet clinic for my two dogs. However; if you set up a care plan I’d advise to speak with a supervisor if you intend to move or not renew after the year contract to have a clear understanding of your intentions and a plan in place. Thank you Dan for assisting in a resolution.
