I am 67 years old and have done my very best to avoid sports and exercise for most of my life! But this changed a couple of years ago when I was coerced by a friend into joining Tuesday’s ‘senior ladies group’, which, led by JC, focused on core strengthening, balance and general fitness. After a couple of sessions I was hooked, so much so that I also joined Lisa’s Thursday group. I love it…JC and Lisa easily create an environment that is friendly and fun, and now I am fit and trim. I have never felt so well. I even begrudge going on holidays, because I don’t want to miss my gym classes!!! When our American son-in-law stayed with us at Christmas, our gift to him was one-on-one sessions with JC. A very experienced gym attender in the US, our son-in-law thought JC was the best personal trainer he had ever worked with. His wish is for JC to move to California!

JC has a reputation as a cross-country ski coach, and he can ski pretty well to boot. JC is also a master at producing both ski -specific training programs that work, devising all manner of ways of conditioning any muscle that might exist, and quietly encouraging attainment of even greater goals. His depth of knowledge, across a range of endurance and other sports is a wonderful asset to be able to use. The resulting improvements in my own performance have been beyond expectations. The Alta Fitness facility is a very nice place to train at, to be able the use the really neat equipment, to be working in the same space as others who are equally committed to their own goals, whatever the level and intent, guided by a knowledgeable, supportive and friendly training team.

I love ALTA Fitness - the PT has helped me 'add life to my years'. JC and Linda and the rest of the team of trainers are passionate about helping people reach their fitness goals and they are exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable in a wide range of exercise techniques to adapt to any issue (eg in my case a chronically stiff lower back) to find a way to make you fitter and stronger. The circuit classes are also great - short (30 mins) and sharp and energetic the exercises work on mind as well as body, and are fun. I also like that it has a friendly vibe and is welcoming to all ages and stages of life. After many years I am still attending, am stronger, and more flexible, and feel more positive about tackling daily work and other responsibilities.

We have been clients of Alta Fitness for a few years and have been enjoying the care and attention by the amazing staff, Estelle , Linda and JC during our group sessions or as now individual sessions. Full attention is given to any questions we may have, my husband's health now requires a change of exercise and this is very carefully monitored by Estelle, whilst at the same time making the session fun and interesting. The size of the gym space is just right, without the overpowering noise of music and countless other users. For us this gym and of course the great staff give just what we need, plus other class or online options when it comes to taking care of your health and well being. I’d try memberships at a couple of gyms just before and after I retired but soon lost interest. The barns and impersonal approach just didn’t suit. ALTA is different. In one-to-one sessions you get guided to exercise that is right for you and gently pushed to give just a bit more. Group sessions are small enough(3-8) that a bit of individual guidance can occur and just as importantly the camaraderie definitely builds and enhances the enjoyment. The gradual increase in body strength, flexibility and endurance I have gained has not brought me back to my mid 20s. But it has enhanced life in general and enabled us to undertake two week hikes here and overseas which I doubt I could have accomplish before regular sessions at ALTA.

Gym with the most capable trainers From the first time I walked into the door, I felt welcomed by the most capable cohort of trainers. They are knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about helping you achieve your fitness goals. The trainers are skilled at tailoring each session to your individual needs, taking into account any muscle aches or injuries. They are also experts at making alterations to exercises to ensure you can train safely and effectively. In addition to providing great training, the trainers also have good conversation on a variety of topics. I highly recommend Alta to anyone looking for a supportive and challenging fitness environment with the most capable trainers.

A keen client of Alta Fitness for several years, I have the Alta team to thank for my improved level of fitness. Unlike other gymnasiums, Alta offers a very personalised approach within a calm and happy environment. I look forward to my weekly group, and one-on-one, classes and have formed many friendships with fellow group participants. Following a serious accident in the US last year (which included multiple arm and leg fractures), I credit JC and Linda with my extremely successful rehabilitation. There is absolutely no way I would be functioning so well physically if it wasn't for JC and Linda. I will be forever grateful.

JC and Linda are fantastic to train with! When I began to train with Alta I was surrounded with support from day one and the feeling of community in the gym was exceptional. The one on one and small group sessions are well structured and it's always fun even when it's a tough session! The gym is like a big family. A well designed gym with very high quality equipment; it is spacious, clean and aesthetically pleasing. It is a small and very private gym that offers personalised programs emphasising recovery and injury prevention. The staff and instructors are very knowledgeable and experienced. We would recommend it to any elite athlete but also to those beginning the fitness journey.

Cannot recommend this gym highly enough - I have never worked out before and was nervous going the first time - but JC and Linda are warm, friendly, patient and happy to work with me even when I have challenging health issues. Now I love it and am disappointed if I miss a week. Its been a year now and Im planning on many more.

ALTA fitness is a small gym but has everything you will need. The staff and equipment are all terrific, with plenty of fun group classes. Also, with the green grass carpet, even when you're doing a tough workout it's still a nice relaxed atmosphere- something you won't get in a big commercial gym.
