I am Writing this review for 2 reasons, the first is because I have been to this school from a very young age and have seen it grow from a small school with around 5 students to what it is today, and secondly, I saw a rather slanderous review written by another student which in my opinion is completely untrue. Astolot is a small private school that is great for children with learning disabilities, I myself have ADHD and am unable to learn in the teaching style of ordinary public schools. The school provides a personal learning environment, with classes which are small, so students get a lot of the teacher's attention and no one is left out. In no way were any of the teachers at this school abusive or mean to students. This school is an amazing and the teachers put their blood, sweat and tears into teaching the students here and ensuring that have what it takes to succeed, Gabrielle's review is nothing but slander by a student who loves drama. I love this school, and if there were anything wrong with this school, I would know. If your child has issues learning, be it Dyslexia or autism this is the school for them.
Astolot has wonderful teachers that care for the students deeply however at the centre is Jennifer Cowan who is at the helm. She is manipulative and not interested in communication or truth. She has acted in unethical ways towards both my children and continues to get away with questionable behaviour because it is her school. Very disappointing and sad. Do your research entering this school. I was warned about her and did not listen. We were shocked and horrified by her conduct and the fact that she works with vulnerable children who have so many different exceptionalities is even more upsetting.
I am a long term student at Astolot. When I first came to Astolot I was grade levels ahead of my classmates and Astolot was able to accommodate me and give me the challenges that I needed to reach my full potential. I have also learned to regulate my emotions when I am stressed or frustrated. Jennifer (principal) and John (social skills coach) have helped me become the person I am today.
This institution is partnered with bearsts for driving children. Bearsts (bearsts.ca) drivers which do not follow the rules of the road, put children at risk with dangerous and illegal maneuvers. I would not trust an institution that knowingly puts children at risk. The school itself has manipulative and dismissive management which do not take critical matters seriously.
My son could still remember an experience 9 years ago when the principal forced him to apologize to a neighbour for doing something that he did not do. The principal is not interested in investigating the truth and this has scarred my son even though he left Astolot 7 years ago. Sigh!
I am a student at this school. I personally really love this school as the teachers are very knowledgeable on their subjects. I also do not like school in general, however I do quite like this school. The school has a very good learning environment and has very good teachers.
I've been at this school for 2 years so far. It's been GREAT! The school helpt me so much in my learning. The teachers are really nice same as the students. The principal Jennifer is really nice, she cares for her students at the school, ALOT!
Astolot is a welcoming and caring environment. Students learn social skills as well as receive certified credits. Students who struggle in any area will thrive and reach their full potential at Astolot.
Amazing dining experience! Was served a 3 course meal. The food was made from the support of a renound catering company. The presentation and organization of the meal was incredible. Come check it out!
Astolot is how learning should be done everywhere. It's an amazing environment for students that teaches so much more than just school subjects.
A very well run, welcoming and unique school. Great teachers and great vision that actually is implemented daily.
As a long time student at Astolot, I would like to say that this school will always be in my memory.
Astolot has a unique teaching style that will improve your kids learning.
My son thrived and regained his self-esteem.
