Gross, Dusty, and a rude owner. This is the best way to describe this terrible comic book/collectibles store. It is a tiny location with piles of collectibles all over the floor and shelves that is terribly arranged. There is a clear lack of organization. Good luck finding Funko Pops without damaged boxes because he just stacks them sky high leading to box crush. Layers of disgusting dust covers everything and most of the prices are 30 percent higher than any other store. The only time you would even get a decent deal is if you went on the 50 percent sale days. Also he prices most stuff by looking at Ebay and will do it in front of your face if there is not a price on something. Imagine not putting effort into not making sure everything is priced beforehand. The owner on the other hand is an absolute jerk, Comes off as very smug and will only help you if knows you super well or you look like you got money to spend. It is clear he is in it only for the money and could care less about collectibles and comics. He had has not changed at all since his last location. I say avoid this place at all cost and while I am typically against supporting the bigger companies and all about helping out local business this is one time that I say you are better off going to Bedrock City Comics.

  • Savage Serenity is lame

Update: Gave this place a second chance and it was worse than the first time. Owner is rude and does not greet the customer at all. Place is filthy, prices higher than before and a waste of time. While there is a ton of stuff to see its all taken care of poorly unless its worth high dollar. Also an item that I tried buying 5 months ago is still there because he wanted to charge the original price of it from 8 years ago when on ebay its listed 90 percent cheaper. So it just sits there covered in dust with more damage than when I found it. Sad really. Original Review: So from the outside the place looks great but upon walking in you realize that it is a disaster. Funko Pop boxes getting crushed because he has them stacked terribly. Prices that are listed are either to high or not there. Which causes you to ask about pricing and he just looks it up on his phone (most likely ebay). The selection is decent at best but most of it is covered in thick layers of dust. Only time that is worth going is when there is a sale but even than the prices still feel to high. Would avoid this place like the plague. Go to Bedrock. At least they not price gouging.

Visited this shop for the first time yesterday off the recommendations of TedTheToyCollector and because of their moving sale. It’s a great shop and can’t wait to visit the new spot! Pricing even without the sale was really good for common pops and even exclusives. The crew working there was quick to help as well. Except for one guy. In the short time we waited in line I saw him roll his eyes, cut people off and long pause and then answer with a bothered response. Every response the guy with the long gray hair gave was in some way rude. I can handle rude employees and can usually leave unbothered by it but he was being rude to kids. And most shoppers in that store were adults but it’s a toy store and kids are going to shop there and we have to protect the little nerds! The two boys in front of us were nice and polite if not a little eager to get their toys and I saw no reason to be rude and a jerk to them. So other than rude long gray haired man, this store was awesome! Just avoid talking to him I guess.

I can tell all I'm going to to need to know about a place when none of the workers can bother to greet you when you come in to their store. The place is small, cramped, and disorganized... probably why a lot of the boxes are damaged. They don't have anything you wouldn't find at any other comic store. On top of that, we picked up quiet a few over priced items that we've just recently seen at Five Below, Walmart, and Hobby Lobby. One guy in particular who was working there takes himself too seriously and has garbage customer service skills. As we were leaving we heard him tell a group of teenagers (that went in to try to sell some of their things) that he values his money more than he values their things. You're not interested, that's fine, but there's no need to be rude. The store and the attitudes give off, grown men just looking to store all the stuff they've hoarded somewhere and not really a business.

With a name like Atomic Monkey you know what you're getting, lots and lots of options. I've been wanting to go there for the longest time, just didn't have an excuse until now. My nephew bought me a Funko Marvel Mexican Wrestler series Venom for father's day which I thought was pretty cool but I'm not a collector of these things. I looked at how many there were so... I decided to get the rest in the series. This is where Atomic Monkey comes in. They had a universe of these things, but thanks to their pink haired, ironic death shirt social media manager, I was able to get 2 of the series plus a very hard to get Loki Mexican Wrestler. We laughed a lot so that made this support of this independent store easier.

This location is far inferior compared to where it was. I feel like is cramped and dirty. Products are overpriced and many of collectibles are stacked and damaged ruining the integrity and value of the items. Much of the inventory is not labeled so you have to inquire about pricing and usually the person just goes to eBay to get their pricing which is grossly unprofessional in front of a customer as they might as well post eBay pricing on the window. It’s very unorganized and I rarely find anything worth adding to my collection, but if you don’t care about damaged packaging, dust or feeling like you’re perusing someone’s basement or storage unit then this might be your place.

upon entering not a single employee welcomed my girlfriend and I in or asked if we needed any help, I actually had to ask if someone worked there, every person seemed annoyed by our very presence, and was extremely unenthusiastic to give me any help whatsoever. Pretty nice selection of items but that doesn’t matter if none of the items are priced, entire wall of items had no prices and when i asked the price of one of the items they couldn’t even come up with a number. want to support small businesses but I’ve never had an experience like this at a chain comic shop.

  • Sophie Cook

Best experience my boyfriend and I have ever had at a comic book store! As soon as we entered the store, we were treated with the upmost service. The workers are so kind, interpersonal, and wonderful! You can tell they take pride in their jobs and in the comic book world. They were very willing to take a look at some of the comics we were interested in selling and gave us a very decent price for them! & They have an amazing selection with great prices! Also, HUGE SHOUTOUT to Robear!!! (sorry if the spelling is incorrect) Best service I've had anywhere in a while!!

  • Jiggy The Poo

Now this is what you call a Comic Shop! This shop as a VAST collection of products, and the owner is very involved. He even apologized for having too much stuff! LOL! I was like "NOPE! this is passion!" The shop is stacked from top to bottom. You will purchase something here! I purchased a Punisher Sideshow collectable, and he even told me how to take care of the BOX! A owner that cares and as the passion is what I'm all about. Even my first time in the shop, the owner and staff helped me with every question I had. Make sure to check this place out!

  • B

On the outside store is nice. Nice on inside lots of stuff. Majority or the stuff isn’t priced. Took stuff to the counter to check out with price tags on the items only to stand there 5 min while the dude was worried about getting his coke bottle open & invested in the other employee conversation. Instead of stopping and assisting me and the other 4 customers. Only to finally check out for the guy to go “oh I need to check the prices first” then realized they’re higher priced now and slapped a new sticker price over the old one. Absolute joke.

  • Hector Mendez

This place has a lot of great stuff. A lot of great comic books to look through, also a lot of great back issues. There's so much more that I couldn't see that we're in boxes that need to get sorted. They have a good amount of figurines and a variety of posters as well. Some of the unique things that caught my eye were rethinking of comics done by the owner by hand. Also the collection of vintage posters and toys was pretty great. Feel like eventually this place will have a lot more great stuff once they sort out through all the boxes.

  • Devon Stanley

I've shopped here many times before and loved it every visit. You genuinely never know what you might find coming in. Today was free comic book day and they had a bunch of great sales. Along with that, they did a raffle and trivia and prizes. It made my day. All of their workers seem very nice and knowledgeable. Even on days not like today they're very fair with how much they offer something for to either buy or sell. One of my favorite houston comic stores and I hope they will continue to do well.

  • Giancarlo Salazar

My first experience to the place that ppl have mix feeling about, of course, shop has an excellent collection but rumors are true about a one individual with hair, (you know who it is), doesn’t want to sell or buy. Top it off flat out walks away when you begin to ask questions. You work there, it’s your job, happy or not don’t show your expression to customers who are willing to drop stacks of bread, on stuff we don’t need just want.

  • King Rula

Agree with the other bad reviews, horrible customer service, rude over the phone and prices are way to high for everything. Only good time to come in is during a sell. And they don’t respond on Instagram, they just read and leave you open. I wouldn’t recommend driving here. I’d go with Bedrock or Heybro video games especially if you want to try and sell. They usually aren’t interested in buying as much as they promote it.

  • Roberto Torres

Horrible attitude. I have been a toy collector for 40 years and have been to tons of stores and it is really rare that the employees or owners are not friendly. This place has the worst customer service ever. Half the items or more don’t have a price, and when you take them to the counter they would check online to get you a price, not cool. Take your money somewhere else, even Bedrock have better service.

  • yorphy

I always have a good experience buying, selling and trading funkos here. Best prices in houston as the owner isn’t greedy to penny pinch and all the staff is nice in contrary to other comments I actually enjoy my time here the guy with the ponytail is very helpful maybe his demeanor just comes off strong but I’ve never had a a bad experience with any staff member here. Take all my money!!

  • angel hernandez

U would think prices would be fair since it’s a small business compared to others that are bigger companies like bedrock honestly just go to bedrock amazing service and prices. Also the service and vibe is very bad and don’t bother taking stuff in to sell not even a fair offer.only good thing is that there is some good selection of comic books.

  • Aaron Watkins

Very over priced for the quality and condition of the collectibles everything was scratched boxes and dings but had them priced for going ebay rates perfect condition. Had battle styles elite trainer sets for $79 priced double, price gouging. Watched boosters and addicts sell things in store that were clearly stolen for pennies.....

  • Gerrit S

Glad to see The Pop Culture Company has been reborn in a new location but with the same owner. Big thanks to Rober for helping me out with some statue related information. Picked up some comics for the kid at the same time. The new store looks great and I like the name change. Looking forward to stopping by more frequently.

  • Keith Introligator

Gentleman who I believed to be the owner was nice and gave me a good deal.. but ponytail boy was rude and acted like he had a chip on his shoulder.. money is tight right now especially spending it on novelty items.. Misfit toys will get all my business now..“ Owner” Get ponytail boy off the floor, he has no people skills..

  • Antonio Avila

There's one guy who's really cool and chill we have no issues with him and strikes up conversations with us all the time. There's one guy that's sometimes there and he just gives us a weird attitude. But other than that the other guy is really nice and chill idk his name it's Robert I believe he's really nice.

  • williest1

Great little local comic shop! Owners are nice and helpful. Big enough and jam packed with plenty of items. Their shelves are stocked with all the recent books but MOST IMPRESSIVE is their back issue bins! I found a lot of key books at great market price. Definitely visiting again next time I'm in town.

  • Bryce Gaskey

Honestly an overwhelmingly awesome collection of high quality figures, authentic memorabilia, and endless walls and bins of past and present comics! If you’re looking for one of those “old school” comic shops that are bastion of celebrated nerd culture then Atomic Monkey Comics is the store for you!

  • Mike Thompson

The owners is awesome. The other guy that works there is very unhappy when people walk in there. They have a hugh selection of comics. If it wasn’t for the owner being there I would not go there. Like all the other comments the long hair man is rude and doesn’t want to be there ti help you.

  • Wolfie Black

This place is a whole new realm everywhere you turn you see something new.The people there are so kind and great to chat with, Making you feel welcome. They have a little of everything comics, action figures, cards, board games, books, pins, dice, and many more hidden treasures.

  • Sami

The guy working there was horrible he barely helped me he was super lazy and i also bought a daredevil in yellow action figure but the box was opened, the comics were super disorganized and they have an awesome selection of action figs but they are almost all the same thing

  • Huberto V.

I just called to reserve a spot for their Pop Swap event for (6/4/23) and whoever picked up was rude as hell & told me: "NO! You cannot! We're full!" And hung up in my face! Y'all!!! I would never come to y'all Pop swap event ever again!!! …

  • TheChinest

Excellent and diverse selection of weekly, recent, back issues, and wall books. Huge pop and vintage toy selections. Owners are friendly, inviting, and will work with customers. All employees are friendly and seeking to make sure your visit is pleasant.

  • Connor Jones

The staff are always really nice and the selection is usually quite good. However the store is overstuffed with unwanted Funko Pops and collectible toys to where it's hard to move in the store and even harder to actually search for comics.

  • Hubert Cheverry

My kids love it, both boy and girl. It is a collectionner place, they have plenty of collectables and toys/figurines that cannot be found everywhere. And always have good advices and warn if kids look at book that might not be recommended.

  • Tammy Taylor

Awesome local shop!! Always friendly staff and a great variety of new and old cool stuff! Whether you're looking for comics, board games, collectibles, classic toys, D&D supplies, or POP figures, Atomic Monkey is the place to go!

  • Andre Ramos

Every time I come into this store there’s always something new, it’s like a streaming service, but better Edit: would be cool if people started to trade in their old halo mega blocks sets of old, that would be the cherry on top

  • Kevin Du

Awesome place and great employees. Just recently got into comics and the people here were more than helpful in helping me get started. Highly recommend the place if not for their huge selection at least for the vibe.

  • Javier Negrete

Great place! My brother recently bought a first issue of Ace the Bathound from these guys. For a very fair price! And their funko pops and comic book collection are amazing! Highly recommend visiting this place.

  • Dawn Carter

Atomic Monkey has an incredibly extensive collection of comics and toys. Buy, sell, trade or just chat to the very knowledgeable staff. I spent an hour (before buying an expert lego gift) just enjoying the vibe.

  • Charmayne Lacewell

Always great conversation and a fair deal. We enjoy coming here that we have transferred our box from the LCS down the street that doesn't respect our business to drive about an hour away to drive to this shop.

  • Alejandro Santoy III

Cool shop, awesome owner, friendly staff, felt at home walking around and checking out the awesome inventory. Pops were half off and they had the Azrael Batman I've been looking for. Will definitely be back!

  • Kyle Lockley

Best comic book shop in town. I immediately swapped my box once I found it. Can't beat his prices, and it feels better supporting a local shop rather than a chain. The new name and logo are great too!

  • Julio Amaya

I like the organization but didn't really catch my interest with some of the collectibles because I seen most of them in other shops making me feel if the collectables were really worth those prices

  • Feleti Garcia

Simple corner comic book store ..... Feels kinda homie in a way. I was looking for a certain pop and I found it here at a great price. I just hate the over opinionated comic nerds ‍♂️. …

  • HAVE_BOTS21

The clean store offers lots of comic books, more than I have seen before (I have only been to 2 others). The worker was not overly friendly, but opened up after a bit of time. We will be back.

  • Andrew Sunada

I really like this place. The main comic bins are very high and retail priced but their dollar bins are epic. Also the quality of collectibles they get are things you don't find often times.
