Just went here after living in the neighborhood for years and am kicking myself I didn't know about it sooner. The owner is so kind and gave my whining three year old a stuffed animal. Amazing music playing, good vibes, and reeeeeaallly good sandwiches that feel homemade in the best way. These places are so rare.

Have eyed this historic spot since the closed Covid times and so happy it is back in action! Solid, fresh, no frills, delicious sandwiches and some key market items (toilet paper, condiments, snacks, baking supplies, records, and then some). The nicest service. Keep this Hyde Park staple alive!

My mom and I had such a great experience while at Avenue B. We both shared the King Ross sandwich, and it was hot and delicious. It’s a super unique and eclectic setting that sets it apart from other restaurants in the area. For sure a must try! :)

I was in the mood for a sandwich that was in walking distance to where I was staying, and I happened upon this in my Google search. I am glad I did. The moment I unwrapped my king combo sandwich, I knew I was experiencing something special.

This place is a “must visit before it’s gone for good” piece of old Austin. Around for a hundred years or so, according to old pics on the walls. There is an odd assortment of current and bygone era food supplies to purchase but the deli in

Nestled in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. I went there to get a sandwich for lunch. The prices are a bit more than other places but the ingredients are fresh. I also have no problem supporting local. The owner was there at the time and

Ross, the man making sandwiches, was rude and behaving erratically the entire time I was there—as I was showing my family around my city on the last day of their visit, I’ll add. I wasn’t paying attention to his liking while he spoke and he

Defiantly an Austin gem. Near 45th street on Avenue B is this quirky grocery store and sandwich shop where you can find items you would expect to find along side items you defiantly would not expect to find but know you need. The owner and

It seems the main man making sandwiches seems to take issue with anyone and anything that walks through this shop. He speaks to customers and trainees in a very condescending, demoralizing, and demeaning manner. It's embarrassing. I don't

So disappointed with this business. I have recently twice driven up from Dripping Springs only to be met with a handwritten note on the door that says: "Closed for Memorial Day". I checked their website ahead of time and it said they were

The owner Ross greeted us out front and gave us the tour and history of the place which has been locally run and operated since 1915. The place has a magical charm. My wife had his homemade pimento cheese sandwich and I got the special.

As an Austinite since 1981, I rate this as a "must" place to experience. It's an genuine, old-fashioned country store and casual eatery, nestled in the Hyde Park Neighborhood. It's run by the owner, Mr. Ross Mason, a candid and engaging

Austin classic. I lived next to them for 3 years and make sure to come back to visit every time I return to austin. Hands down best sandwiches in the city. The owner is super cool, too. One of the few remaining "weird" old-austin places.

I live across town from Avenue B now but I still go to lunch often. Really good food, made with care, one at a time. Lots of nostalgia there. I always find a conversation about the good ol days in Austin. Been a customer for 40+ yrs.

Super cute vintage sandwich shop located in Hyde park. They have a very nice patio outside with picnic tables. It was closed when I got there but I will definitely be back to get a sandwich at the super cute vintage sandwich shop.

Best sandwiches ever! I love the atmosphere and if I'm in the area on a gorgeous day, I always stop here for lunch. Be prepared to wait, though, and if it's during the holidays, don't be surprised if it's closed for weeks.

Maybe the best sandwich I’ve ever had … good fresh ingredients and great bread! Then there are the brownies baked this morning. All this in a charming old grocery in a beautiful neighborhood.

Great sandwiches and an awesome owner! The sandwiches here all taste really fresh and are nicely constructed. We'd recommend the RLT and the Italian. Both super tasty.

Ross the owner greets you, rings you up and makes the sandwiches. I got the King Ross sandwich (heated). Great neighborhood lunch spot. Cash and cards accepted.
