I recently visited the Big W Rockdale party section around 4:00pm on 13/5/2023and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. As it was my son's eagerly anticipated birthday, we were excited to celebrate with some festive balloons. However, the lady working at the party section managed to turn what should have been a joyous occasion into a truly unpleasant one. From the moment we approached her, it was evident that she lacked the basic customer service skills expected in such a role. Instead of greeting us with a warm smile and helpful attitude, she appeared rude and impatient, clearly disinterested in assisting us. It was disheartening to witness her constant complaints about it being too late to make balloons, as if our request was an inconvenience to her. Furthermore, her insistence on making an appointment to create balloons was both puzzling and disappointing. We were unaware that such a trivial request required prior scheduling. After explaining that we wanted eight balloons to celebrate our son turning eight, she callously informed us that we could only have three. This took place right in front of my son, who was understandably excited about his special day. I cannot express how shocked and hurt we were by her disregard for his feelings. It is beyond comprehension why someone in the party section, where a cheerful and welcoming demeanor is paramount, would display such unprofessional behavior. If she finds it so difficult to fulfill her duties on time each day, perhaps she should consider a career in an office setting where punctuality is of greater importance. Her rudeness, impatience, and refusal to accommodate our reasonable request for balloons left us deeply disappointed. It is clear that such a staff member should not be entrusted with customer service responsibilities, especially in a section dedicated to celebrating special occasions. We sincerely hope that management takes the necessary steps to address this issue and ensure that future customers do not have to endure a similar ordeal.

UPDATE 24/08/2021 Tim provided the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE today. He was very polite professional and fast. It was the quickest Click and Collect. Thanks Tim you have restored my faith in Big W customer service!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating for Tim WORST CLICK AND COLLECT EVER!!! I was left waiting 35mins at click and collect to boot today. The staff member saw me waiting....delivered orders to 3 other cars....one car arrived 5mins after me and was first to get their order.....when she delivered order to 3rd car she looked across at me and rolled her eyes and walked off.... I waited and waited and waited. After 15mins I called and was told they would get someone onto it immediately. After 25mins wait I went and rang bell in loading bay for assistance...still no service. I called again and was told again someone would be onto it immediately. After 35mins a young man appeared and got my order. He was a very professional understanding staff member, he even offered to get the manager. I wasn't waiting any longer. I understand times are tough but the delay was totally unacceptable!

Direct to boot service is awful, have been waiting for 30 minutes even though i have booked my pickup time beforehand. The pickup page is buggy and isn't updating my status to arrived after clicking the "i'm here" button. Calling the store has a 30+ minute wait time. The worker that was working in the warehouse area where my my car parked in the spot for direct to boot order pickup is in view has either been ignoring me or just haven't noticed I've been parked there waiting. I ended up getting out of the car to press the assistance button right at entrance and had to ring it a few times as I got ignored by the worker that walked passed as I was getting close to the button. Waited a while before anyone came back to check what I needed help with, showed my order details and pickup instructions and they can't find where it has been placed. Very unorganised and a waste of time as it would have been quicker to find parking in the carpark and walk into the plaza to buy it in person.

8:45pm flicking through a book to see if it would be age appropriate for my kids at work and then came an asian male worker who said "excuse me we're about to close" and carries the table with the books i was going to purchase. From what i recall their website says they close at 9. I asked him how much these books priced at as the price lable wasn't labled/displayed clearly and he replies i dont know rudely. Real rude, didn't bother purchasing. He was more so in a rush to close and finish his shift instead of providing proper customer service. On the other hand i called the store earlier to see if they had stock for an item and the manager was really helpful. Giving her all 4 stars. Minus 1 for the male staff and his attitude towards a regular customer.

This place is so good They have available sizes for big people that actually fit you can buy a size Mens 40 pants or more and it will actually fit they abide by the size guiding rules in Australia unlike places like Kmart they pull sneakies on them. They also have a better range of widespread clothing ect flannels and more that are more nice to wear with nicer and cooler designs, there’s also other ranges of other things it’s a shame they have places like this further away from places like the city “City” but this place is awesome

Normally a positive experience but with the pending lock down of Sydney due to the surge in positive virus cases it was disturbing the number of people in store without masks on. I appreciate that Big W may feel it's not their job but i think it would show good corporate citizenship if they asked customers to put marks on. I was at Marrickville Metro shopping centre yesterday and they had staff doing this at the entrance. It was such a positive image and shows great care for its customers and the community

Please don't listen to these bad reviews. I am a frequent shopper at BIGW Rockdale and the staff are always friendly and helpful. If you come into the store with angst or frustration then expect that to be displayed in your body language and behavior. As an experienced person in retail management the store is great and particularly the home entertainment department as a busy sector of the business is always attended to with great customer service.

The lady at the Party Shop is always amazing, I've been buying there a few times now - Every single time she's always helpful, caring, patient and has great time management. There was a time I was in such a rush, she took me as a priority and answered all my questions in a timely manner. The balloons were done in just 5 minutes. BigW is very lucky to have her! Will keep coming back and recommend her to family and friends - Thank you.

The service was absolutely wonderful, I am unsure the name of the person who served us, but she was young and very proffesional. We came in close to closing time after a rough day ro return a faulty tv online order and she was patient and attentive. I was ao happy with how quick she served us and checked and explained everything. Honestly she's the type of employee that would definitely go far in life and any career she chooses

Big W always good. Easy to find what you're looking for, othewise ask the friendly staff. I was looking at laundry washing bags fantastic, zip up see through, water flows through. Exactly what I wanted. Plus chocolates, there are so many products in that store. There camisoles are excellent too. They have got cosmetics covered, every brand you could want. Great way to shop. The list is huge. Happy shopping.

Staff at Big W Rockdale are fantastic and so very helpful. .. was looking for a particular Lego set but couldn't find it on the shelves so asked one of the staff who looked through the stock out back and found me the last one in store then the young man who served on the checkout was friendly, polite and also provide great service. Always a pleasure to shop at Big W Rockdale - thanks everyone

This BIG W is in a very convenient location next to Woolworths and in the Plaza with other stores like ALDI inside. BIG W has competitive pricing on well-known brands and holds occasional store programs such as the 'Free Books for Kids' which my child can read along with the online read aloud videos. Great range of clothing, exercise equipment, appliances, toys, books and stationery.

This is a review of the new direct to boot service. It isn’t efficient and I don’t believe the systems they have in place work. You let them know when you’re on the way and when you’ve arrived and then you’re meant to sit tight. And wait. Waited 20 minutes before calling store, lady said she’d page someone to come down but that I should call back if they don’t...

Was glad I got what I needed and you had it in stock but unfortunately the customer service wasn’t the best. Totally understand if they were having a bad day but wasn’t friendly one bit and didn’t smile at all felt a bit pressured to buy things straight away because the staff was lingering and asking me to put things back if I wasn’t going to buy it

Excellent customer service ! the store manager (John) went above and beyond to help me get a trampoline for my daughter that was no longer in stock I called every store in Sydney. He told me leave it with me and called me back a few hours later telling me he has one waiting for me in his office ! Just picked it up Wow just wow so happy !!!

I love BIG W Rockdale bcos its very convenient 2 go there as it is located in Rockdale Plaza which has its own carpark. The prices r very reasonable in BIG W. There r plenty of products available. The staff r very approachable, efficient, friendly, helpful & respectful. U go there, u won't be disappointed. …

This store is nice and big and has lots of stock. Party area is very good Only 2 issues. They have put in self check out and now if you need help there aren’t enough staff. There are birds near the baby area. I think they come in through the loading dock, some of the stock had bird poop on.

This is my usual shopping center. I do visit at least twice in a week. This store is managing and maintaining well. You can find all kids items including clothes, books and games here. The returning process is hassle free. I recommend this shopping center. It’s a great experience !!!

In and out 10 minutes. The lady behind the desk was so helpful. Right now I need easy and simple (not to much thoughr) I needed a new phone unlocked with SIM and she took the time to help me choose the right one that wasn't to much money. So friendly. Thank you BIG W

Staff were friendly and helpful. We went when there were heaps of sales and ended saving $40 on all the things we bought which was great. Good selection of men’s T-shirt’s, both serious and joke ones. Some really good products you wouldn’t expect to find in a Big W.

Shopped there for years, it's a great Big W! Michael from the tech and print department has assisted me many times. He's always so knowledgeable regarding products and so helpful regarding print. Big W is lucky to have such a great person on their team. Thank you

This store is huge. It has most of what ever you could want. Plenty of parking and there are plenty of assisted checkouts to choose from. There is no curticy chairs inside the store for seniors or disabled people. Everything is on one level in this store.

It was very nice service at the women's wear and the baby's section, also the team member at the check out was polite and A+ service. They are a big asset to the company and represent the goodness of big W. Recommend place to shop and get recommendations.

This is my local. Its always well stocked. Its always clean, the staff are friendly and they have a lot of specials. I always visit Big W when I am at Rockdale Plaza whether I buy something or not as I like to see what is new in the store.

My favorite store to shop. You can get almost anything in here. The staff are super friendly, been shopping in here for the last 10 years ago and still enjoy it. The click and collect staff are lovely, easy to pick up just one button.

Shopped here for a CD player I saw online. I was able to get exactly what I wanted. The best part of this shopping experience was at the staffed checkout. Big W had 2 opened and operating. It was an absolute pleasure to shop here.

Typical Big W. Tidy. Not too crowded. Marked down as the waiting times at the online parcel pick up is at the back of the store and sometimes you need to press the buzzer heaps to get someone to attend the desk. People are nice

What is with this new DOT. I need to ask about an online enquiry and it won’t transfer me to a human! Some people have disabilities and can’t get to the shop! Online Isn’t always helpful either! Won’t be shopping here anymore

Unfortunately the staff in the party section are not as friendly as the other staff. On two occasions I found them to be quite blunt and didn’t want to help. The customer service was poor in this department only.

Sizable, almost every Big W item is there. Staff is helpful at the counters. Need to increase some staff within aisles as well because sometimes customers need some help about products as well.

Parking is in the basement. Wide aisles and lots of space. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Layout of the store is intuitive. Do some price comparisons as prices here are very competitive.

Huge with all kinds of shops, but not on my regular haunt for shopping. So I rarely go there, but that doesn't take anything away from this place. I thing they were short staffed that day.

All the home interior with less cheaper then other shop. Same with electronic gadgets it's little cheaper here . If you looking for festive season gift and cloths big w is best option.

I have been coming to this Big W at Rockdale from the day it’s opened. The staff are always helpful and polite. I do miss Dee though, as she was one of my favourites from the store.

Big w rockdale has always been huge and almost has anything you need for your home great place to visit don't take your kids there to many toys you will get stuck in toy section lol

This store is in a good location, and easy to get to. Well stocked and clean. Staff are reactive and shiw interest in their customers. A very pleasant experience.

Asked directions at the door for the department I wanted and was directed there. I found what I was looking for and was quickly served at checkout.

The staff never knows anything and the ladies in the fit room are super rude, they make us to feel they are doing a favor to us doing their jobs.

Just a great store. Plenty of space to navigate your trolley and has plenty of stock on display. Very friendly staff is just a great bonus.
