I recently visited Bar Broadway, hoping to have a pleasant evening, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The bar, particularly the manager of the pokies area, displayed a level of rudeness and made me feel incredibly alienated throughout my visit. From the moment I entered, I sensed an unwelcoming atmosphere. The manager, in charge of the pokies area, seemed disinterested in providing any form of customer service. Their demeanour was dismissive and unfriendly, leaving me feeling like an inconvenience rather than a valued patron. What struck me the most was the manager's blatant disregard for basic courtesy and respect. Their condescending attitude was palpable, and it seemed as though they had no understanding of proper customer relations. It's disheartening to encounter such behaviour, especially when visiting a place where customers should feel comfortable and valued. Furthermore, the overall ambiance of Bar Broadway was lacklustre. The atmosphere felt stale and uninspiring, with little effort put into creating an enjoyable environment for guests. Combined with the unpleasant encounter with the manager, it became clear that this establishment fails to prioritize customer satisfaction. Given my experience, I cannot recommend Bar Broadway to anyone seeking a welcoming and enjoyable night out. The unprofessional behaviour of the manager in the pokies area, along with the overall unwelcoming atmosphere, made me feel alienated and unimportant. It is truly disappointing to encounter such a lack of hospitality and customer service in a supposed establishment of leisure. I hope that the management of Bar Broadway takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving their customer relations and overall ambiance. Until significant changes are made, I would strongly advise potential patrons to consider alternative options for a more positive and inclusive experience. Also, someone left a poo on the toilet?

This pub has a few things going for it. Just at the start of Broadway (Central Station end), has a good mix of clientele, so you'll fit right in no matter what. It gets construction workers, Uni & Tafe students and locals plus some backpackers too. It only has the One main bar area, with seating and couple of pool tables. Serve all main types of beer and spirits, But also give students a discount. There is also an Asian flavoured restaurant, but you order at the bar and eat in as the bar. Typical pub eating. They sometimes have live music and if not, the background music is really good. In the area out back of the main bar is the Poker Machine area. The room has 2 levels, with the top glassed in area is also the smoking area inside the pub. They also have an ATM in a a side door/hallway near the female toilets. Lastly and one really good thing about the pub is that it is just a few meters outside Sydney's lockout laws, so can come anytime you want such as 3am, unlike the hotels inside the lockout area where you cant enter after 1am. So all in all, I would recommend this place as the staff and usually the customers as well.

Bar Broadway used to be a cool rock dive bar. But since the new owners took charge in October '22 it has taken a dive downhill. Standout issues are: - They have amped up the lighting massively. Which normally is a problem for a pub that is open till daylight, but especially for one that the windows are effectively the walls. From the outside looking in there is no privacy for the patrons and they basically look like exhibits. - Drink prices have taken a massive hike up. - Appears to a be a new DJ who plays music that only he and his girlfriend enjoys: read the room no one likes it. - They cant decide on a consistent theme: night club, pub or rock dive bar? They keep some of the memorabilia from their successful dive bar days, yet amp up the lights but also employ a DJ....what are you going for here? There are going to be changes or this place will be up for sale again. They get 2 stars due to the friendly staff..

This is a very mediocre pub just near Railway Square. Food is suboptimal, so I wouldn't consider eating elsewhere as you have so many options and Spice Alley is just around the corner. Tap beer is limited in variety unless you like all the commercial brands. Has a gambling room which you need to venture through on the way to the ladies toilets. Now they are an experience. Not the worst but certainly not the best. Nice seats at the window to people watch and a pool table if you like to play. Still figuring out how it's still operating

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at this bar. I simply inquired about their happy hour after purchasing a drink at the regular price. The bartender's response was rude and unapologetic. He even raised his voice and scolded me when I asked why my drink wasn't part of the happy hour. Customer service is essential in the hospitality industry, and I felt let down by the way I was treated. I hope the management takes steps to improve the customer experience.

This is a good place to hang out and just chill. It wasn't a busy day when I went to this place so it was all good. And they have a billiard table too if you want to play. The food was quite good and they offer asian noodle bowls for a budget price. Good to keep your tummy warm in this winter season.

I’ve just been charged $17 dollars for a pint of stone and wood. I think thats outrageous. I’ve been here many times in the past, have always had a great time. Since the new owners have come in, everything has changed drastically including the prices. $17 for a pint of stone and wood is a joke.

  • Rich Andersen

Bar manager with glasses kicked us out literally for no reason at all. Then gave us a hard time when we asked for refund on the food we’d already paid for but hadn’t come out yet. Unbelievable. Getting kicked out of this joint of all places. Been coming here all my life and never had a problem.

  • EL BEMO

Man behind the bar (bald one with glasses, greying really poorly) was not a grumpy, frumpy man. Didnt serve me in an empty room for 5 mins.. i was counting. Beer tasted like he might've.. would not recommend. Pool table was nice, not worth the $0.25 surcharge though.

$17 for a pint of stone and wood, don’t need to say much more than that, are you taking the absolute Michael or what. Absolutely outrageous how much they charge, utterly disgusting. Used to be a good bar but the new owners have destroyed what was once an institution.

Arrogant older white guy behind the bar ruined our experience here. So much so we left without finishing the drinks. The other staff apart from being embarrassed themselves were very pleasant. With so many other establishments nearby there is no reason to go here.

Locate at convinient place. Has good bar and good food at an affordable price. Great place to hangout with friends. Close to the central station. Good service from the staff. Will recommend to anyone who wants to hangout with frients. Has a pool board too.

  • ANURAG KAPSE

Great pub for a casual hangout. Always fun environment and cheap beer. They also have Thai food till around 10pm, and it tastes awesome. Sometimes they also have live bands. It is my usual hangout place since last 4 year, and not disappointed.

  • Rob Samples

Lovely little bar that seems to be frequented by the locals. The happy hour is good and runs a bit later than the rest. You can get a few Aussie beers for $5.50 until 7:30. There is a Thai street food place that serves from the bar as well.

  • Nathan Cole

If you spend $16 on food here you get disappointment with a side of devastation. The chicken burger was mystery meat pattie and the calamari was chewier than a nuns fanny. The deep fryer must have been running on matchsticks because they

Nice bar with a good chill environment. normal prices but enjoy their special lunch specials. quality food and really generous for the price. however, cash only is a bit of a pain but im still coming back so obviously worth it.

  • Stephan

Good bar, student priced beers. They also serve food but you can only pay by cash. Decor is a bit dated and doesn't really fit in with the fancy surroundings anymore. However, you can't beat their prices and friendly bar staff.

  • Matt McAlary

Yes I love a beer & Bar Broadway doesn't disappoint. Frosty beers. Nice Chinese meal. Inexpensive. $13.90 for basil & chilli beef with a schooner. Bargain!!! Friendly efficient staff. Thumbs up. Short short walk from Central.

  • BulldogsAndDolphins

I used to always enjoy having the chicken schnitzel for lunch. Was a bit hit and miss at times my most recent visit was a positive hit. For those who like a good schnitzel and work near Central this is a good place to go.

  • Jaycey Park

Amazing Thai chilli basil fried rice! I was skeptical as it's Thai food in a bar, everything from portion, price, and taste was amazing! Very tasty. Friendly and quick service. The bar itsself is chill as well.

  • Callan Bellmaine

High school DJ. Don't try to re-enter to retrieve any items left behind. You'll be told "you've been gone for a long time" if you walk to Eddy Ave and back

Very chill and cosy place. The staff are the friendliest and they have a good selection of beers and cocktails. The price is cheap compared to other bars in this area, especially with student discount.

The meat is not freash enough. Smells bad. Taste like rubber. Fat is not trimmed. The bar guy is very friendly, and the ice water he made is better much than my steak.

  • Matt Fitzgibbon

Great place to have a drink Staff are very friendly. Drinks are reasonably priced. If you're in the area definitely drop by for a drink and a game of pinball …

The DJ on 9/12/23 (Asian man in red t shirt) was the best DJ I’ve ever heard. Banger after banger. I love him so much and please give him a raise. He’s the best

  • cr1pps

New owners have ruined the atmosphere in this place and just turned it into any other TAB/ pokies pub. Prices went up by a few dollars per pint too. Sad

  • Dennis K

Convenient location to central station and tertiary institutions.. pokies room.. seats are a bit heavy and too high for vertically challenged people..

  • z Zz

Wonderful place if you wanna try how a steak might taste like after putting in the fridge for over half a year …

  • Szymon Gocek

Do not try to eat steak. Fish and chips is not to bad. cheap beer is the only one reason to visit this bar again.
