Reading reviews wherever we go has almost become the norm for us now. If it's got a 3 stars or less in front of it then we simply walk away. Anything with 4 and above we consider, based on the newest reviews. So generally before we even start we're on to a winner or a least a fairly good place. That was very much the case when we stopped at Barbossa Bar & Bottle Shop. There are a whole host of eateries and bars along the South Bank, very much as there is on London's South Bank, the only real difference being that this time of the year there are hot temperatures here in Brisbane. So we wanted a bar where we could sit with air-conditioning, not just a fan but air-con. So many bars are 'open plan' but when we popped into Barbossa they actually had a small area with the air-conditioning pumping away nicely, so for us 'poms' it was a godsend. In we went. The service was good, the pale ale nice and cold and my wife's sauvignon blanc with ice and soda really hit the mark. We also had a serving of their garlic bread with cheese & bacon. Very good . The staff were friendly too.
My family and I were greeted by warm welcoming staff and fast service as soon as we arrived. Splendid cocktails and mocktails for the kids. The brazed beef ribs were SPECTACULAR; succulent and fell right off the bone. Would definitely recommend to any family wanting an affordable and tasty meal.

Barbossa hosted my 21st birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout! I hired the Captain’s Den for the night and it perfectly fit my party of 35 people. The area was a lovely set up and they allowed for me to add my own decorations which really helped set the scene. A huge shout out to Phoebe and Curtis for being so warm and attentive the entire night, always checking in with me to make sure that I was happy with everything. All round a really great time and a really great place to host an event or just go for dinner and drinks, I highly recommend!

Absolutely banging pizzas, had the pork belly pizza and it was amazing! We also got the deep fried zucchini and calamari! All the food was amazing and I’d go back again any day, great strong flavour, very well cooked pizza. They don’t offer table service which is fine, you order at the bar take your drinks back too your table and then they bring your food out. I was more then happy with the food, we had a couple drinks and they where great as well apart from the apple jack (apple jack daniels) that was rubbish
Good place and location but found the service disappointing and a let down. Bar staff not helpful at all - Told to go to the table scan QR code to place an order get to table this is not the case. Right from start to finish felt like it was as a chore and challenge for them to provide any form of hospitality just average experience for us unfortunately. And a Sunday and a 15% surcharge on a Sunday? I appreciate public holidays would have this but sunday?

Went out with a small group for a birthday celebration. The staff were fantastic the drinks were delicious and the food was amazing.. I had a seafood curry and it was so good.. Nobody in the group actually finished their meals and it wasn't because of poor quality but because the servings were very generous.. Highly recommended, great atmosphere great food. Definitely will return.

Was not going to stop but I like rum and Hawaiian pizza so gave it a go. Pizza is really good and sticky date pudding spot on. But I'll come back for the main man Lochie the mixologist. Perfect old fashioned substituted with Aussie Queensland rum. Update November 2023 I tried the chili prawn and bug. Amazing flavor and exceptional value.

What a chilled and relaxed bar located on Southbank’s Grey st. We visited here while on our evening walk for a drink. The staff were very accommodating as we had a dog with us. The staff are are really friendly and cheerful. The drinks prices are reasonable. We didn’t have food but had a drink. A bottle shop is attached facing the other main road for take aways. Great place! We will be back to try the cocktails :)
This bar restaurant is really nice! The staff is super friendly and it has a view on the park, the cocktails are strong and well balanced, and their hot chips very tasty served with aioli, tomato sauce or both. We spent A$68 for a bowl of chips, a jug of Pink Gin Spritz and a glass of Aperol Spritz. QR code menu available. Telstra 5G available in this area.
Great cocktails including excellent mocktails and non-alcoholic options that are still well considered in terms of flavour (not just deleting spirits from existing cocktails). We had dinner too which was all great, jerk chicken skewers the highlight. Friendly staff, great location and didn’t mind ordering at the bar.
I went in for lunch on a busy Saturday with my 3 young kids. Staff were really good and helpful. We all loved the food and the kids loved the colouring in and chess provided by the venue. Highly recommend as a place to go in the Southbank area.

Good bar for some drinks. We came here for drinks and the bottles of wines and cocktails jugs were good and reasonably priced. Service was OK. You find your own table when you arrive and you have to order and collect your drinks at the bar so I didn’t feel there was much of a service experience.
Had a pizza and a few beverages at this spot. The staff were incredibly friendly which made our little day out a whole lot better. I recommend an afternoon stop here and having a few good ales and a laugh.

For a small pub, the food is always delicious. Have never had a bad meal at this spot. I usually come on Sunday evenings as it's a lot more calm and relaxed with friendly staff.

Had a taster of their range of barrel aged rum. Good food, friendly staff. Pork loin with Rum sauce was very delicious and filling. Try not to get too attached to their food menu as it changes every 4 months. Excited to see what the kitchen has next time!
Whilst there was nothing wrong with the food, I feel the location commanded a better cut of meat than Rump as the top steak on the Menu. Otherwise was excellent feed.

Great service with a smile and a very tasty steak. well worth the 40 dollars. Mushroom sauce could've been done better/differently but other than that it no complaints.
