I was really excited to try this place and really hoped food was good here, as wrapped beef in BETEL LEAF is one of my favourite dishes of all time. You would think they would have this dish perfected considering their cafe is named BETEL LEAF cafe. I ordered the wrapped beef vermicelli with added sugarcane prawn which was an extra $5. When my dish came out the first wrapped beef was so hard I couldn’t even bite through it, then I tried the second one and it was raw... the next 3 were also RAW! So I tried the sugarcane prawn. It was so rubbery you could taste it was the cheap store bought kind and 1 for $5? Really? For the price they want to charge you at least make it yourself! Moving on.. My partner ordered the sugarcane prawn DIY cold roll wrap for $20.. it was our first time here so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the food was worth the price? IT WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE $20 gets you 2 sugarcane prawns.. the coriander wasn’t washed with old wilted bits, when the waitress put the plate down half the veggies fell onto the table and you get 5 sheets of wrap.. Basically in conclusion, if you’re looking for a recommendation, take it from a Vietnamese Asian. DON’T EAT HERE! Such a waste of time and money for something that’ll truely get your blood boiling

I am a lover of vietnamese cuisine and checked this place out after reading the reviews to see what all the hoohah is about. My experience left me thinking that positive comments are a hoax or written by those involved in staffing the business. As a Pho Tai lover I ordered this and found it aromatic to start but once the standard condiments were added it lost that inviting smell. The taste was not anything like I expected and had a cheesy taste to it that was less than pleasant. The noodles, which there were way too many for the broth were rubbery and seemed to have a unpleasant slimyness about them. The standard condiments lacked coriander and the sprouts and Basil were far from fresh. The chicken satay we ordered were burnt, dry and the satay sauce seemed nothing more than slightly thinned peanut butter. Unstable tables, cold and crampy surroundings made for a added unpleasant evening and we were greated, as we entered, by the non Vietnamese owner cursing and swearing and abusing someone (loudly)on the phone. For those who rate this place highly I can only say they have not tasted real Vietnamese cuisine nor gone to other pho cafes. Not a place for a return visit.

I went to get a Salad and they only had noodle bowl so I ordered the pork. The full intention was to compare it against our local "U Like ROlls" -I asked for extra meat and the cost was $17 Vs $9 at ULR -Portion size was the same -The amount of pork for a $5 extra for extra meat was hugely disappointing as I would have been disappointed if it was a single serve **The pork however is the best in Adelaide that i have tried so far (Even Soonta)** The rolls look delicious but the salad \ Noodle bowl was really disappointing.

The lady made my roll with pure hand, no gloves and refused to accept that this was unacceptable, the meat was between her fingers and everything was handled thoroughly above and behond. She stated her hands were clean. She was was too busy looking into my friends eyes who she wanted baaaaaaddddddd

Having been to Vietnam and enjoying the food and the culture. Betel Leaf is one of Adelaides hidden gems. Food is fresh, authentic, quality and definitely bang for bucks. The service is amazing and certainly fast even though the restaurant was packed (clearly and indicator of the quality) This will certainly become my go to place for Vietnamese.

You will have to go far to find a better Banh Mi. The rolls are as fresh as you can get and the ingredients are the same. Very good portion sizes as well. I have had other things from the menu during other visits but sit in or take away the banh mi is brilliant. The line out the door is proof that the food is good

I need to customise most of what I eat out due to food intolerances which is usually an annoying and stressful process of playing 1 million questions. The staff here went out of their way to help make me something I could eat, they were super friendly about it AND it was delicious! Will definitely go back! :)

Adelaide’s best kept secret…but it shouldn’t be! Amazing well-priced authentic Vietnamese food, great staff and always a wonderful experience. Kim, the gorgeous owner, always comes out of the kitchen to say hi. If you haven’t been … Go! No doubt you’ll be a raving fan like us!

This is a cosy place and the Service is second to none, such a welcoming family run restaurant. The food is great, it's fresh and served quick and hot. They do the Best fried rice among many other tasty dishes. Very good menu, licensed venue.. definitely recommend.

Had the spicy lemon grass chicken soup and lemongrass chicken banh mi. Absolutely delicious and fresh. Staff very friendly and service quick. AccomodaTed our request for a shared lunch. Prices were reasonable. Lunchtime was moderately busy.

The Vietnamese cuisine on offer was absolutely fantastic. The food aromatic and spicy but subtle, with clean bright flavors. Service was amazing and definitely looking forward to the next meal.

I just love this place - staff are friendly and the cafe has a warm atmosphere. I am absolutely addicted to the lemongrass chicken vietnamese bread roll - so tasty with just enough 'kick'. They also do a great coffee - definitely 5 stars!

Absolutely stunning noodle bowl! I only ordered it because they had sold out of bread roles by 1:20pm but I am not at all sorry! The noodle salad was fresh and light and had the most generous helping of beautiful pork with crackling!

  • Janet’s Journey

A family run little Vietnamese joint. Food is flavoursome, and consistent. Serving are generous and offer a good variety on their menu. There a sit in meals and also offer quick to-go style dishes like Vietnamese bread roll.

One of the best bahn mi places in Adelaide hands down. Nicely run, usually busy, opening hours are a bit weird but my god the rolls are incredible, $8-$9 and crackling pork or combination are the best.

  • Kailin Perrott

Definitely in my top 2 for Bahn Mi in Adelaide, the roast pork is unreal

Can't tell you what the food tasted like, no one wanted to take my order, was about to order and the lady just walked off and didn't re-appear, so I just left, I'm still starving
