জাতীয় উদ্ভিদ উদ্যান বা বাংলাদেশ ন্যাশনাল হার্বেরিয়াম বাংলাদেশে উদ্ভিদ প্রজাতি সংরক্ষণ, গবেষণা ও প্রদর্শনের সবচেয়ে বড় কেন্দ্র হিসেবে বিবেচিত। কেন্দ্রটি ন্যাশনাল বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেন নামেও পরিচিত। উদ্যানটি ঢাকার মিরপুরে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় চিড়িয়াখানার পাশে অবস্থিত। ১৯৬১ সালে প্রায় ২০৮ একর (৮৪ হেক্টর) জায়গা জুড়ে উদ্যানটি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ঢাকার আরেকটি উদ্যান বলধা গার্ডেন প্রশাসনিক দিক দিয়ে এই উদ্যানেরই অংশ। জাতীয় উদ্ভিদ উদ্যান বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ উদ্ভিদ উদ্যান। প্রতিবছর প্রায় ১৫ লক্ষ দর্শনার্থী উদ্যানটিতে বেড়াতে আসেন। উদ্যানের ক্যাকটাস গ্রিন হাউজে ৮০ প্রজাতির ক্যাক্‌টাস ও সাকুলেন্ট সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে। গ্রিন হাউজটি ১৯৯৪ সালে নির্মিত হয়। বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির ক্যাকটাসের মধ্যে রয়েছে ওল্ডম্যান, ফিসহুক ক্যাকটাস, ম্যামিলারিয়া, ক্ষেপালিয়া, মেলো ক্যাকটাস, গোল্ডেন ব্যারেল, সিরিয়াম হেক্সোজেনাস, র‌্যাট টেইল, আপাংসিয়া সিডাম, হাওয়ার্থিয়া, পিকটোরিয়া ইত্যাদি। বেশিরভাগ ক্যাকটাস মেক্সিকো থেকে সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছে। অর্কিড গ্রিন হাউজে দেশি-বিদেশি প্রায় ৮৫ প্রজাতির অর্কিড সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে। নেট হাউজে ছায়াতরু সংরক্ষণ করা হয়েছে। প্রায় ১০০ প্রজাতির ছায়াতরু রয়েছে এ হাউজে। আন্তর্জাতিক উদ্ভিদ শাখাসম্পাদনা উদ্ভিদ উদ্যানে বিদেশি বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির উদ্ভিদ নিয়ে ১৯৭৩ সালে আন্তর্জাতিক এলাকা নামে একটি শাখা সৃষ্টি করা হয়। এই শাখায় রয়েছে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার সিলভার ওক, জ্যাকারান্ডা ও ট্যাবে বুইয়া, জাপানের কর্পূর গাছ, মালয়েশিয়ার ওয়েল পাম, থাইল্যান্ডের রামবুটান। নার্সারিসম্পাদনা উদ্ভিদ উদ্যানের প্রায় ৫ একর জায়গা জুড়ে একটি নার্সারি রয়েছে। এ নার্সারিতে ফুল, ফল, লতা, গুল্ম ইত্যাদি উদ্ভিদের চারা চাষ করা হয়। সরকার নির্ধারিত মূল্যে এই নার্সারি থেকে চারা কেনা যায়। অন্যান্য উদ্ভিদ সংগ্রহসম্পাদনা উদ্যানের অন্যসব সংগ্রহের মধ্যে রয়েছে অশোক, বাওবাব, তসবিহ গাছ, ফার্ন কড়ই, তুন, কেশিয়া নড়ুসা, চেরি গাছ, মহুয়া, কৃষ্ণচূড়া, কামিনী, নাগেশ্বর, বহেড়া, শ্বেত চন্দন, উদয়পদ্ম, গিলরিসিভিয়া, কুম্ভি, আমলকী, জারবেরা, অ্যানথুরিয়াম, বিচিত্রা, ক্যামেলিয়া, পারুল, হেলকুনিয়া, হিজল, রক্ত কম্বল, সেগুন, মেহগনি, রাজকড়ই, আকাশমণি, অ্যামহাসটিয়া অ্যাভোকাডো, বেগুনি এলামান্ডা, থাইল্যান্ডের গন্ধরাজ, অর্জুন প্রভৃতি।

It was built in 1961 with area of more than 100 acres. The garden is categorized into fifty-seven sections and includes a cactus house, lily ponds, a lotus pond, six lakes, two nurseries, an orchid house, a tissue culture research center. There are also artificial waterfalls and some sculpted artificial lakes have been created in different places. In winter visitors can be amused to see thousands of birds. But you need to be careful for purchasing foods from inside shops as they all are not good and prices are unbelievablely high! And sometimes some wicked people may disturb you. It has some security issues.

Extremely serene environment with lots of natural beauty. Variety of trees as you expect with diverse birds and animals roaming around freely. Not that much maintained, lack of dust bins. Perfect place for a family outing. Also good for couples to take a walk. There are many public toilets and shops. You can get food inside. The entry fee is 20 taka per person. If you have kids under 2 years of age then you don't need to buy any tickets. You can get lost easily inside this garden, so do not forget to mark the entry point on Google maps before you go exploring.

সবুজ গাছপালা আর রঙিন ফুলে ঘেরা এক টুকরো স্বর্গ মিরপুরে। তবে স্বর্গ বলা যাবে না। পরিবেশ ভাল না। পরিবার নিয়ে গেলে আপত্তিকর অবস্থায় পড়তে হবে ১০০%। আমি দুইবার গিয়েছি বিশেষত শুভ্র সবুজ এই বাগানবিলাস গাছটার টানে । এক জায়গায় লিখা আছে অর্কিড বাগান আছে কিন্তু এখনো তার দেখা মেলে নি। তবে সেই রাস্তা দিয়ে যেতে চোখ জুড়ানো ছোট্ট নীল অপরাজিতা চোখে পড়ে ।আমার আরেকটি প্রিয় ফুল। সত্যিকারের সৌন্দর্য দেখতে হলে বসন্তে যাওয়া উচিত।

Very nice and pleasant environment. There is a separate play area for children. It is also a very clean garden. Such environment is not found in Mirpur. In a word, it's amazing. But some people do immoral and antisocial things inside this garden. I want to tell them that family education is very lacking in them.And yes of course I will tell you to go from 7 am to 10 am or after 4 pm to 7 pm (for summer time).

It was amazing experience when i visited here. The garden is very big with different type of tree, plants. Every area is different than another one and separated. All the section has different board. There are many sitting place where visitor can take rest, feel fresh air and enjoy Nature. In the garden, weather is very cool even outside of the garden is very sunny. People come here with friends and Family, from the long distance, also come for PICNIC.

Best place in Dhaka city for morning walk. Covered with different type of big and small trees. Name of the trees are mentioned with small name plates. Flower gardens and mini park is there for visitors entertainment. Hundreds of peoples are comimg everyday to keep them fit by walking, jogging and light excercise. Many Yoga teams are also coming in the morning.

It was a refreshing experience to visit the Botanical Garden. Never thought in this restless city there could be such a place, open space where you can breath fresh air and spend quality time amidst nature. Lots of kinds of trees are here. I couldn't explore the whole area but the lake area and the rose garden left me mesmerized. Highly recommended!

Best place for a morning walk besides i love to go there with my friends to spend quality time and gossip. Most of the time i go there when all the flowers bloom. There are a lot of flowers but amongst all of those i love hijal, baganbilash, jarul, kanchan, dolonchapa, oporajita, joba, shiuli etc. Good place for a family picnic and one dish party.

আমার জীবনে সবচেয়ে সুন্দরতম সময়গুলো কেটেছে এই বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেনে। আমার মতে সবার একবার হলেও সেখানে ঘুরতে আশা উচিত। আর লেখক, প্রকৃতিপ্রেমি, যেকোনো শিল্পীদের বসন্তে, কুয়াশা-মাখানো শীতের সকালে, কোনো এক শরতের বিকেলে অবশ্যই ঘুরতে আশা উচিত। নবদম্পতিদের জন্যও একটা রোমান্টিক জায়গা বলে আমি মনে করি। কিন্তু ভিতরে কিছু অসাধু লোকজন খারাপ উদ্দেশ্যে সেখানে ঘুরতে আসে। তাই বলব সাবধানতা মেনে চলবেন, গভীরে একাকী যাবেন না। ধন্যবাদ।

best place for natural refreshment in dhaka city. A huge collection of various Botanical elements like various rare trees and cactus, furns etc. Though it has still a lot more to develop, it still contributes as a great source for natural knowledge. People can come here anytime within sunrise to sunset and cant stay night here. It has some security issues so it is recommended to not to go deeper alone.

One of my most favorite places to visit in mirpur , this place is mostly calm and devoid of too much gathering , I visit there and go lost in the beautiful nature . It calms my mind from any kind of frustration and anger in my life . Would definitely recommend for anyone . Just be careful of getting in front of some couple in awkward situation as there are lot of them .

Not safe at all. There is no sufficient security and most visitors are not from a mannered society. Gang culture/snatchers are now ruling this place. Better not to get into any sort of argument with others. Not recommended to visit alone or couple. The place is beautiful but doesn’t feel safe anymore.

Nice place to have a relaxing walk or hangout with your loved ones. Take food with you if you are going for hours. Very few food options are available with higher price. There is a small restaurant after the entrance. Do not sit there or any other restaurents Outside the gate, they will robe you.

Good & very calm natural place. But lot of opportunity there to develop the whole area. Need to decorate full area to attract the visitors. Highly appreciate the authority to decorate the future Botanical Garden. Thanks

I like green environment of Botanical Garden. Area is huge to spend quality time with friends and family. Security should be increased to encourage people to visit. Rose garden and children's playing zone is better.

Quality time spending place but the outer area is not the safest one. Keep your eyes aware there.

Nice and calm atmosphere.... If you don't like jungles or don't like to walk then don't go there. The place is amazing but not safe for kids and family. Inappropriate scenes may witness.....

Botanical garden is one of the best places you can visit in Mirpur The place has natural beauty along with a peaceful environment The ticket price is usually 20 tk but it's worth it

খুবই সুন্দর পরিবেশ, চাঁদাবাজি এখন নাই বললেই চলে, আমার কাছে ঘুরে নিরাপদই মনে হল, তারপরও আমরা কেউ গেলে বিশেষ করে কাপলরা গেলে আমাদেরকে সাবধানে থাকতে হবে।
