This is my local station - You can tell that Queensland Rail spent the absolute minimum required to upgrade this station. It looks cheaply built with a haphazard design, bare basic metal framework, literally built for function not form, and platforms that require you to step up onto the train - even interstate stations from almost 200 years ago are level with carriages. The solution to newer trains being higher is to relay the track at a lower depth along the length of all platforms. This is a common issue across the network, significantly so at South Bank station where trains to the city come in around 40cm higher than the platform - this is unacceptable in 2023. Why even have elevators if the trains are not level with the platform. All around the station is dead grass, there's literally no aesthetic beauty to this station, it feels and looks so industrial for an inner city station - just terrible!

Bowen Hills railway station is an excellent station for changing trains, with all but Exhibition special services stopping here. However, there are no park'n'ride facilities and street parking is restricted. The station was opened on 1st October, 1973 as one island platform. It replaced two stations: Mayne, located outbound beside the railway yard, and the second (1890-1973) Bowen Hills station located inbound on the other side of the tunnel. (The first station named Bowen Hills was situated beside the former Campbell Street level crossing on the original Roma Street to Sandgate railway which ran through Bowen Park - now the Exhibition grounds - and operated only between 1882 and c. 1890.) Bowen Hills is named after Queensland's first Governor, Sir George Ferguson Bowen.

One of the best stations you can visit in the inner, inner, north, north west of town. Treat yourself to some witty repartee from one of the many pacing, itchy junkees forcing you to rethink the choices that have got you to this moment. Consider grabbing something to eat from one of the plethora vending machines before sharing a delightful chuckle with a stranger over just how empty an empty vending machine looks. Drop by and play a quick game of "am I better than that guy" whilst occasionally glancing at what the psychologically damaged consider a challenge. I'm of course referring to the alert written by a Vietnamese immigrant "stay behind yellow line". Are you up for the challenge?

A very busy train station that is the connection to the Northern stations like the airport service! Ferny Grove, Redcliff, Toombul from platform 2 & 4! 1& 3 go through the city! There is a lift available & a kiosk as well as restrooms! Wheelchair access is available! Plus a parking spot! On Sunday 10th of February, the lines from Roma St to Bowen Hills were being worked on all weekend! We could only get a train to Bowen Hills & a Council bus connected us to Fortitude Valley! Bowen Hills provided excellent & effective service! On the return, everything was running very smoothly! Just before the station is the area where the dormant trains are stationed!

This station is a crucial transportation hub in the South East Queensland rail network, playing a similar role to that of Roma Street. However, the platforms here are noticeably narrow, and there are not enough seating areas as compared to Roma Street. With a constant stream of passengers waiting to transfer, the station can become quite bustling and congested. The narrow platform design raises some safety concerns, given the large number of passengers using this station. On the positive side, the station is also connected to a bus stop, which provides added convenience for commuters.

Easy to access station but its stairs either way you go. They have a lift on the city end of the platforms. So many exits to all directions. Good security and the QR office is staffed. Can get a train to almost anywhere on the SEQ network from Bowen Hills. They have go card top up booths on both platforms. Ticket booth human only on platform 1. City end platform access is covered where as the airport end of the platform is not. News Agent on Platform 1 with drinks, snacks and reading material. Nice people.

This place is a joke. The station itself is horrible. Next to no covered areas to get out of the sun or rain while waiting for your consistently late running trains. The stairs leading into and out of the station are so narrow the a peak times it takes a lifetime to get out of there. The simple fact is that this is another example of qr taking your money and not reinvesting any of it to upgrade or maintain this pathetic service that they so highly over charge for. Pretty sad really.

The station does the job. It includes the TV screens showing next trains to come, announcement on loudspeakers, benches, vending machines, an office for tickets/GoCards and a newspaper agent. On the downside, i couldn't find a machine to check GoCard balance and reload it by myself: I guess I would have to go to the cashier and I was wondering what happens after hours. The station is a bit grey, it visually doesn't appeal: no artworks, no colours...

Well-maintained station. Construction currently underway for a shelter to the adjacent bus-stop. There is a newsagent on one platform and a TransLink machine on the other, so you can top-up on either platform. Once there was a mentally-unwell man abusing an innocent mother across the tracks, but usually a peaceful place with officers on the watch.

Lack of security late at night make it a desolate place for those who commute after-hours. 1 of the 2 island platforms are constantly closed over weekends, which causes knock on delays due to traffic congestion. Only one GO CARD reader is located at the northern end of platform 3/4 which makes transferring inconvenient.

A decent train station. No self serving machines to top up your go card. Toilets are closed. Probably you'd have to ask staff for keys. Handicapped toilet was open. Reasonably clean. There's a newsagent with snacks and drinks in case of an emergency. And of course newspapers if you get really bored.

Very utilitarian ..like most of the stations here. If more facilities were offered and the station was more comfortable would more people use the trains. ? Grafitti and buildings like prison blocks. And look carefully for the go card machines they are not easy to spot . Hmmm.

My dad took me here when I was young. He said he was going to buy cigarettes but never came back. I moved on, grew stronger and eventually became successful. One day he reached out to me, it was our chance to reconnect, but he just came to beat me and left again. 4 stars.

Possibly one of the worst stations on the network. The platform is narrow and the whole place gets busy during peak hours. Additionally, the shade and seating are inadequate. Don't change trains here unless you really have to.

Look, Do not come here past 9 or some teenager Will beat u up. Otherwise it's a okay station with staff giving you looks and spider s crawling up your spine! Catch trains to most places in Brisbane if you dare

When trains have faulty doors (usually with "locked " stickers, would be great if they mentioned it in the "now arriving" pa messages, if the PA system is working (they don't seem to be all that reliable)

It's a pretty alrighty station. Lots of trains and connections during the day... little scary at night, though. Many electric scooters abandoned at the entrance if you're looking for one.

Smells absolutely awful unfortunately. Smells like sewage all the time. Really unfortunate for an otherwise good station.

Awfull service. Expensive, never on time, always broken down, highly unreliable, outdated... The absolute worst.

Almost no sun protection at platform 4 and no seats either. This station looks like a station in Syria

I use this station because it links to Most other stations and the station is pretty clean.

Station is accessed by a narrow path from Abbotsford Road. Could be scary at night.
