As you walk into the establishment you hit full in the face with the smell of freshly baked bread . Immediately activates the glands and you start salivating. Greeted by the most friendly of staff, who hand difficult customers like myself to the owner manager... Peter. Explaining my dietary requirements to him, he shakes his head and says fat free vegan.... early morning challenges. Sit down and let me whip up something for you.... and that he did. Delicious carrot and potato mash served with baked beans and a slice of sour dough bread..... all I can say is YUM. Give it a try, I'm sure you too will be pleased

went into buy ciabatta bread. Bread all labelled . bought the ciabatta after inquiring if the loaf i was holding was the right one. assured it was. very disappointed.. nothing ciabatta about it. Just a normal sour dough dense bread with no texture or holes as should have. do not sell ciabatta if it is not or you do not know how to make it. A bakery does an amazing loaf in Glenwood for half the price. yours was horrid and very expensive. wont be back.

Tasty pies and breads available daily. Really enjoyed the freshly baked potato pie with a delicious helping of coleslaw and green salad. The sour dough bread was also good Quaint set up. Owner is very pleasant and welcoming. Will definitely stop by again. Went back on 30 March 2021. Received same friendly welcome. The Mediterranean veg quiche and potato pie was excellent. Coffee was also good.

I am so happy that I found this little place. The smell that greets you is just incredible! They have fresh bread galore, including brioche loaves. I bought one of their home made pies, Duck and Ginger, they have Moroccan mince and quite a few other options. I will be back for the breakfast as that looked delicious. I tried some of the homemade marmalade on brioche, delicious! We will be back

What a lovely find. It is an old Victorian house that has been beautifully decorated. The food is superb. Quiches and pies, homemade lemonade, toasted sandwiches, but other items available with pre booking. The quiche pastry was perfect- light and crumbly. Also sells wonderful sourdough bread, cakes and pies to take home. Will definitely make a point of going here whenever I am in Durban.

Small, intimate fresh food. Keeping it simple but great quality for affordable prices Sadly there is now a tacky barber shop, either blaring its music or the owners or employees are hanging around on their phones loitering about. Such a pity... its already put off most of my friends who have been regulars.... what was the landlord thinking ... ???

Incredible Hospitality , Cozy , Love the old style lounge jazz music - excellent coffee. If Artisan Sourdough Bread is your passion Peter is the Bakerman for you. Rich Nutty Wholesomeness. The Brownies are to live for. Also it is a fantastic place to eat ; meet and greet. Come have a cuppa and connect with new friends. Highly Recommended!

We love Peter's bread.- always a variety, all made with stone-ground flour. He makes tasty pies like duck, venison, sweetcorn and chilli. The atmosphere is welcoming, there are shelves laden with all sorts of chutneys, jams, pickles.. many made by Peter. And he serves delectable meals and good coffee.

  • Allan Wohrnitz

Very friendly owner and the place is homely. They one place that bakes their bread with unadulterated whole wheat, like the way bread was made in the old days, non refined and non GMO wheat flour Worth a visit for breakfast or buy freshly home made bread

There is a little coffee shop in Paris just off the Louvre called Lina's. Just like the cartoon Ratatouille, I was time-shifted back there today. Thank you Bread Cafe.
