I’ve been a patient of this practice for many years. They used to be great. Reception and admin team were efficient and the doctors were good. I have no idea what has happened but the overall service has declined dramatically. I have had to send repeat e-consultations because they either don’t respond, or they respond with an incorrect result or solution, or they transfer you to the chemist for medication even though you asked for an appointment with a GP due to a lump in your neck! I’m not one to worry about physical health symptoms often and rarely contact my GP for physical health issues compared to the general public. I work in a GP surgery and know how patients can abuse the system with silly things but I am not one of those people so the rare time I contact my GP for a lump, instead of investigating this my GP sends me to the chemist telling them I have a sore throat and require medication! Even though I stated in consultation that this is not a cold or flu! This is one example of the recent inefficient and lacking service I have received. Seriously what is going on? Update: Thank you for your response but I did not require medication and made this clear when contacting the practice. You cannot prescribe medication when a cause has not been established. The pharmacy even agreed with me when I explained my symptoms and said this wasn’t something they would deal with. I had no flu or cold symptoms and mentioned this in my econsult to the surgery. I specifically asked for an appointment with a GP for the matter to be investigated.
I have been a patient at Brooke Road Surgery since I was a baby (over 20 years ago). Being able to witness the journey of the surgery from how it started, and where it is now, has been absolutely inspirational. From the changes of the receptionists, nurse and doctors, and also the amendments of the doctors offices, and waiting room set up - the transitions has been smooth sailing and efficient. Irrespective of how new the staff are, or if they have been a staff at the surgery for a while, all staff always ensured that the service remained at the standard excellent level, and continuously made me feel very welcomed every visit or phone call. My first initial contact with a doctor was with Dr. Prasad, he was such a lovely person, as well as an excellent doctor. He never failed to see myself nor my family at any given time. He prioritised our health, and always took care of our worries. To see the surgery being passed down to Dr. Prasad’s son Neeraj Prasad, has been amazing. Dr. Neeraj Prasad still continued providing the best service as per standard, and has definitely followed his dad’s great footsteps. Dr Neeraj Prasad is by far the best doctor I have ever come across. He is extremely kind, patient, helpful, not judgemental and very caring. I am grateful to be a patient at Brooke Road Surgery, and meet such wonderful people. No matter where I move or stay, I will always remain a patient at this surgery, as it holds such a special place in my heart. God bless them all ❤️
My recent experience with the Brooke Road Surgery has left me utterly appalled. This place, which I used to trust, has now become synonymous with unprofessionalism and lack of empathy. The manager, demonstrated a complete disregard for long-standing patients like myself and my elderly mother. When we encountered an issue with my mother's appointments and tried to seek assistance, the managers rude and dismissive attitude was shocking. It's disheartening to witness such treatment, especially after being loyal patients for years. This has solidified my belief that the Brooke Road Surgery has no respect for its patients, particularly those who have supported them for decades. This has been by far the worst GP experience in all of Stoke Newington, and I sincerely hope others are spared from such distressing encounters.
I had a consultation via phone call, which is already a disempowering and detach method of communication and a poor way to assess most of the conditions, but I understand that the surgery is still struggling to recover from the covid outbreak setting. The issue I came across was on the delivery of the service from the practitioner, whom I found to be impatient to end the call (8 minutes) by talking over my voice when I tried to express my concern over a longlasting issue possibly related to the metter of my call. I found that behaviour lacking compassion and professionalism since I was dismissed before I could explain myself. Instead, I've been advised to call after the Christmas holidays to book an appointment in person, which will make it at least over a month for me to be seen in person.
I went for an appointment with the nurse and told her that I wanted a blood test because I was feeling very weak, my body felt strange and mu breast were sore. She told me that for that I needed to see the doctor. In reception I said I wanted an appointment and once again I mentioned my symptoms. Weakness , painful hunger, dizziness. The receptionist said that she doesn’t think they can give me an appointment for such a thing and that the doctor doesn’t have any appointments available soon anyways, to call another day. i stopped trying yo reach because I felt discouraged . One month after i find out I am pregnant. I have been taking the pill as normal, being around smoke etc. because I had no idea. All of this could have been prevented if they only heard what I said or gave me a blood test.
It's early days for me at the surgery but can I just say - what a stark contrast to my last surgery. Astonishing to find this level of care and consideration in the NHS as far as I'm concerned. Still not worth 5 stars and of course time will tell, but so far I am relieved to have a seemingly competent, caring and proactive doctor and such nice reception staff to deal with. UPDATE: the state of the NHS means waiting times are too long, but this surgery truly does its best. Dr Neeraj Prasad is lovely, thoughtful and thorough, and although I haven't dealt with all the administrators, I can say that Ewa is always kind and helpful. Thank you! UPDATE: I have to leave the surgery and am SO SAD. I definitely recommend them if you're in the area.
Haughty, arrogant, cold, indifferent and non-emphatic female doctor. I visited Brooke Road surgery with my mother who was not feeling well and I left feeling I had just met a lizard. I have no problem with the female doctors diagnosis, but I do have an issue with her manner and lack of bedside skills. Why did she become a doctor if she is so cold with patients? Doctors prescribe medication, but they should also show warmth and empathy and listen to patients. Sometimes having a doctor who shows these qualities can make a patient feel better via the placebo affect. However, Dr Prasad is wonderful and exhibits genuine warmth and empathy. Having strong limbic (Mamallian) qualities is important for doctors.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with the Brooke Road Surgery, largely due to the behavior of their manager, Mr. Deepak Guppa. When I reached out about an issue that led to my appointments and files being transferred to another GP, Mr. Guppa's response was shockingly rude, confrontational, and dismissive. Despite my attempts to explain the situation and seek a resolution, he refused to listen and even went so far as to deny me the opportunity to re-register with the practice. This incident has made me question the professionalism and patient care standards at the Brooke Road Surgery. It's truly disheartening to witness such behavior from a place I've trusted for over two decades.
There are certain mannerisms that one must uphold in a public service. Lecturing your patients whilst they have a worrying query about someone they care for is not how you do it. I have had several bad experiences with the female GP at this practice and now the practice manager. Learn to advise your patients and talk to them, not read off a script. The Nightingale Practice is only 10 mins away from this one and it is way better, they know how to speak to their patients with empathy, clearly what Brooke Road Surgery is severely lacking. The person I care for has chronic pain and the GP here decided to stop prescribing her with her painkillers. It says it all.
Shocking experience with Dr. Ramanathan. Inattentive, superficial, and extremely patronising GP. She hardly assessed my child, did not listen to my words, provided wrong information regarding some testing, and wrote false information on her DC report. I ended up taking my son to a paediatrician who just confirmed how poor that GP visit was. I work in the private healthcare sector and l perfectly know that seeing patients with the right attitude can provide valuable help, reassurance, and support during tough times. Practitioners like Dr. Ramanathan can be extremely harmful and increase stress levels in sick patients and carers.
First of all, the reception staff is really nice, always super friendly and calm. I have moved quite a lot in the last couple of years and hence had many different GPs. Dr Prasad is by the far the best GP I have had so far. He seems super competent and his consultations never feel rushed. He takes the patients' concerns very seriously and will suggest concrete actions to address them. He solved, for example, one health issue I had been dealing with for weeks and already gone to the hospital for. In fact, I have now moved again but I happily undertake the 45-min journey to the other side of London to keep him as my GP.
Honestly do not know why anyone would give this place a 5* rating! Very unprofessional, reception staff do not seem bothered about any patient service concerns you bring to their attention and just talk over you. I've called them on various occasions in the past and doctors time and time again fail to get back to me. When you chase them up on missed phone consultations, there is no one to assist you. The ones at reception just past the phones along to their colleague's to "deal" with the situation. Waited all day today to be contacted. Not helpful in the slightest!!
the receptionist who dealt with me recently is exceptionally good at her work and genuinely a caring person I cannot thank her enough for her efforts she is truly awesome and the same can be said for the nurse it's not often one goes to a GP surgery and feels genuine care and concern there are so many patients to deal with and for me to be feeling care and Concern shows that these two ladies are a real credit to Brooke road surgery and anyone they encounter in life .God bless you both and thanks again for your support efforts and real genuine care ❤️
Best surgery!!! Been going here for years and have zero intentions of leaving this surgery. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Both doctors are excellent at what they do…however I must confess the tentative and caring nature of Dr Prasad definitely leaves him as my absolute favourite doctor (not that I should say that), but I know he genuinely cares about my health and that’s special especially with how overworked our doctors are today. Appreciate all the staff at Brooke Road surgery, especially Dr Prasad
It is with a heavy heart that, having moved house, I must leave this practice. There was a real sense of reassurance that, when I needed support, Dr Prasad would be there to help me out. He really is the kindest, most compassionate doctor I have met; and everyone else at Brooke Road contributes to making it the wonderful surgery it is. Thank you and very best wishes to all of you, and I hope you are all keeping safe and well.
I just signed up to this surgery as a new patient and had my first appointment. I don't think I've ever had such a good experience in the UK or elsewhere, privately or publicly. I felt so looked after, listened to and cared for. The doctor was incredibly understanding and flexible and the staff at the reception desk was welcoming and supportive. Very grateful thank you for your good work and your good hearts.
I couldn’t recommend this surgery more, from the kind receptionist to the super attentive doctors and nurses. I have always been able to get through to them on the phone and book an appointment in good time. They are always happy to offer additional advice and are super caring, a real community feel. The surgery is very clean too. The best surgery experience I have had! We need more surgeries like Brooke Road.
Wonderful staff! Ewa at reception is warm and super helpful. I just saw Lynne for a smear test and I’ve had the best experience: she is calming, serious about consent, understanding, reassuring and explains exactly what is about to happen. She is open to all questions and takes all concerns seriously. I wish I joined the practise earlier - if I could give more stars I would
Excellent Service. Saw Dr Ramanathan this morning. Great gp and really helpful. I don't agree with the last reviewer at all; obviously a man who is intimidated by a smart lady. Why would you want a placebo? You want the facts about your health. Anyway, very happy with my new doctor. Seen quickly and reception is helpful too. Great surgery.
This surgery is the perfect example of why the NHS is going to be privatised. Their inability to be pragmatic and use common sense highlight their operational inefficiencies and lack of real patient support. For context, I know that this is due to the lack of resources they get, however, I won’t recommend it to anyone I know.
The Administration team always go that extra mile to help you. For the nurse and the doctor the service I received excellent. Dr. Neeraj Prasad and Margeret Mensah always The time to explain the medication you’re on and the best way to monitor yourself as an individual. Q for your kindness. Bentley
Best surgery I’ve ever been at. Joined last Friday. Called on Monday, seen on Tuesday in person. Really efficient service. Lady doctor seems very kind and knowledgeable and got straight onto dealing with my problem. Receptionists all friendly and keen to help. Clean surgery. Impressive. Thank you!
Rude, unprofessional, not listening and very patronising staff. The whole visit was my worse experience with GP ever. The receptionist is very unpleasant and no manners at all, the nurse just very unhappy to to her job and making awful comments. I was shocked, upset and embarrassed. Never again!
An excellent GP service would highly recommend. All staff are very friendly, welcoming and GP’s often go above and beyond to help you - nothing is too much in my experience. The receptionists are always friendly & helpful and if they cant answer a question will ensure to find out or call back.
Get to see a Doctor / Nurse within a few days or even the same day as booking an appointment, when early for an appointment the Doctor / Nurse often sees you within a few minutes of arriving (as long as they are not busy), the receptionists, doctors, and nurse are friendly and professional.
Dr Prasad is extremely helpful. He is detailed with his explanations, always offers different treatment options, calm and easy to talk to. The receptionists are efficient so I never have any problems booking or rearranging appointments etc. The surgery is a very reliable one.
I had such a lovely experience with Lynne at the BR surgery. She gave full context behind both my smear test and bloods, why I was getting them and what each element of it meant. She was so respectful and made sure I felt as comfortable as possible. A really great Nurse.
An incredibly friendly, compassionate and efficient team. I called reception at 5, and within 45 minutes I'd had a telephone consultation and the doctor had sent the prescription I needed to my nearest chemist. So impressed! Keep up the amazing work …
Hands down the best surgery I have been registered at in London. Receptionists, doctors and nurses are all kind, friendly and efficient. Doc advice is always calm and knowledgeable. I've seen a few different staff members and all have been of the same high quality.
This surgery is the best I have ever experienced. Dr Prasad is a credit to his profession. Whenever I attend his manner is relaxed and engaged, always making you feel at ease and highly professional. Highly recommended GP surgery. Keep up the great work!
Excellent surgery. New patient from a local surgery that is unfortunately closing don. My dr is dr ramanthan and she is really supportive and has a great knowledge. She explained everything so well. Really good care. Nice reception and clean surgery too.
This surgery should win some sort of award. I have always found it to be so efficient and well run. Dr Prasad and Dr Ramanathan are always attentive, kind and helpful and all the team and reception staff are great. It makes such a difference. Thank you.
I just had a smear test at Brooke Road surgery and I could not have asked for a more calming and respectful experience. Lynne took the time to explain the full process to me beforehand which helped to calm my nerves. Such a wonderful nurse, thank you!
Excellent. Just registered about a month ago. Saw Dr Ramnath today and she is great. Very easy to talk to and finally organised a test I have been waiting years to have done! Very efficient. Nice reception and bright practivce too. Thank you!
In my experience, both doctors are excellent. They are both highly qualified and very diligent. If a doctor prescribed me something to which I knew I was allergic, I would tell them. I wouldn’t act like a muggins and post a one star review.
Both doctors are always so kind and really make you feel like they care and your concerns are valid. The reception staff are also lovely and helpful. I am moving soon and will be very sad to leave this surgery as it really is a rare gem!
Very happy with everyone working there. The receptionists, nurse and doctors are all super friendly and knowledgeable but most of all helpful. Feel very lucky to have them look after me and my family. Not every surgery team is this good.
I am so happy that I changed GP. Dr Ramanathan really listens and cares about her patients and it really makes a huge difference to the service. Reception is always friendly and happy to help and it's not difficult to book appointments.
Dr Prasad is simply a fantastic and quite intriguing GP; just by entering his consultation room my symptoms are usually alleviated because he has such a calm and grounded way of dealing with your medical problems, whatever they may be.
They should really get 0 stars, both of the doctors have prescribed me penicillin which I'm allergic to! I thought the were supposed to be clever, but obviously they don"t remember to check a patient's allergies first! Incompetent!
Great- registered and seen by a doctor an hour later. Helpful advice given by reception staff when I called to enquire about registration process. Friendly in person too. Nurse and Dr both very approachable and calming. …
I have been with the surgery for many years. Their service have been fantastic but during and after covid their service have considerably dropped which I think is not their fault but NHS generally. I still give them 5.
Dr Prasad and Dr Ramanathan are both so friendly, caring and helpful and have made my experience as a patient here a very positive one. Moving away from the area and really gutted that I'll have to leave the practice.
Brooke road surgery and all the staff are always so incredibly helpful, always going above and beyond to provide care for their patients. The surgery makes you proud of the NHS and those that work within it!
I’ve had such a fantastic experience with Brooke Rd Surgery - staff, doctors, and systems were all faultless in the four years I’ve been with the surgery, and I am sad to leave it as I am moving house.
Having lived in the area for 12 years this is certainly the best GP I’ve visited. Found it relatively easy to get an appointment, staff were friendly and found the GP very helpful and understanding.
I've got to say my experience at Brooke Road surgery has always been excellent. Exceptional service and treatment, in stark contrast to some surgeries I've been to in the past. I'm a big fan.
My GP (the lady Dr) is always so friendly and informative. Always putting me at ease and dealing with every issue I have efficiently. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful practice.
The team here are absolutely excellent. The reception staff are always really helpful and supportive. The nursing team are wonderful and the doctors are really responsive and kind.
The receptionist are all just amazing, super friendly and make the whole practice shine. I would recommend seeing Dr Prasad, he is a very thorough, competent and respectful GP/
I've been with Brooke Road Surgery for three years and always had the best treatment. The staff are amiable and helpful, and the nurses and doctors are caring and attentive.
As always, very professional, warm and reassuring. Would recommend this surgery to everyone. Have recently had a baby too and the care has been brilliant. Thank you!
Best GP I've ever had. It's easy to make appointments, the opening hours are good, reception staff are friendly and polite and the GP care is patient and excellent.
Nurse Lynne made so much effort to ensure I felt comfortable and safe when she carried out my smear test. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you!
I switched GPs because I was completely let down by the practice, and I'm so glad I did. Everyone at Brooke Road is so helpful, patient, kind, and professional.
Prime example of a rotting NHS. Superficial, inattentive, and patronising medical professionals who brush you away so they don't have to do any real work.
The advice/treatment received has been faultless as have all my interactions with everyone at the practice so far. Thank you to all @ the surgery.
Some joke of a practice, you call no appointment the dates they have you could be dead by then the reception staff are so unhelpful, I’m leaving….
I found Dr Prasad to be very helpful and I felt comfortable talking to him about my issue. The reception staff were also great! Thank you all.
The surgery was so friendly, efficient and reassuring throughout all of my appointments. Makes the stress of going to dr/GP so much lower!
Throughly friendly and empathetic experience. Dr Meta was kind and patient and willing to go the extra to ensure that you were ok.
Appointment on the same day very professional staff. One of the best GP SURGERY i have ever seen. Keep it up
Thanks to the lovely Lynne for taking care of me today when I wasn’t feeling 100% - it was so appreciated.
Amazing. Dr Ramnath is a fantastic doctor. Quick and knowledgeable. I felt well taken care of.
My nurse was thoughtful, caring and made me feel completely comfortable. I will be back.
Doctor Neeraj has a superb attitude. Attentive and intelligent. Very good to deal with.
Great experience - it is very easy to get an appointment and the GPs are great!
I loved brooke road surgery. GP and nurses always really helpful and attentive
I don’t very often, but when I do, it’s always very courteous and professional
Always the best attention and service, from the front desk to the doctors.
The nicest Doctors receptionist I’ve ever met and very helpful doctor.
Very good experience. GP was kind, informative and very efficient.
I have always found Dr Ramanathan and Dr Prassaud very helpful.
Superb Dr Ramanathan is the best doctor I've ever had as a GP.
Always amazing to deal with. Quick to respond and very caring.
Lack of referrals when needed, happy to put patients at risk
Great surgery doctors and staff really kind and helpful.
Always friendly and easy enough to speak to someone
Caring and understanding and listen too you
