It's going to be hard to cover everything in Brunswick Street Mall and the Valley neighbourhood, but here goes. One of my favourite spots, is the Five Dogs takeaway, near McDonald's. You could still get a few hot dog varieties and a drink for the lowly price of $5.00, last time I visited. Also, there's the Chinese bakeries along the back walkway at McWhirter's near the fruit barn. I've shopped at all three of those outlets. A sausage roll and a cold drink run out at around the same price at one bakery. Then there's Julie's Salon, in the other direction, just around the corner in Wickham Street, from Chinatown Mall, with men's pensioner haircuts from $10.00. There's a few of my other favourite spots in that part of town, but I'll save them for another review... UPDATE 20-04-2018: So, here's those extra spots I promised last time we met... One of the best take aways is the 'Fresh To Go' inside McWhirters, run by a lovely Chinese couple. They used to be on the other corner, closer to the stairs, but moved down to the overpass end with much better results for their business. Once more, you can buy a basic sandwich and drink for around the $5.00 mark here, and also roast meat rolls and sandwiches plus a drink are not that much more in price. Service is efficient and friendly and the place is always packed at lunch time - so be early, or go hungry... While the local Foodworks mini mart inside Valley Rail is no 'super saver' discount store, it has a wide variety of food, beverages and extras on site. They rearranged their whole front end of the store last year in order to give easier access. Staff are friendly and you don't stand in a queue at this store for too long, as extra staff make themselves available to shorten the length of any queue with haste... Central Brunswick Bakery is one of my famous, but out of the way pit stops. I won't buy pies and sausage rolls anywhere else! Run by Danny, a Vietnamese baker of many years experience, even his most basic 'plain' pie is well worth having. There's lots of overpriced and exotic pastries in other nearby places, but you won't catch me paying $10 or so for their product, when there's a great Aussie style pie and sauce to be had at a very reasonable price at Danny's place! Central Brunswick - located on the corner of Ivory and Brunswick Streets, one block away from the Storey Bridge... can't miss it!
Not much of a 'mall', however the hot dog place is cool as their food is cheap and they offer special deals. Occasionally one can enjoy hearing local musicians playing live in the bars and pubs, and there are Asian grocers selling fresh fruit and vegetables. At the end of the street, there is a Hall of Fame dedicated to 10 Brisbane bands/musicians that enjoyed major international success (Bee Gees, Go-Betweens and others). While walking there, I thus got the chance to snap a photo of the plaque dedicated to my idols Savage Garden (a happy coincidence being that the photo was actually taken in May 2013, shortly after the birthday of Savage Garden vocalist Darren Hayes).
Too many empty shops. Promises of new developments that never happen. Dirty concrete and dirty concrete seating. Council and police on the weekends roam in packs collecting revenue by fining foreigners and young kids $240 for dropping a cigarette. And now with the new laws on mandatory ID scanning affecting smaller venues, creating long lines for entry and embarrassing Queensland when prominent foreigners are refused entry. The walkway from the train station to the Mall is a disgrace and the council claim the are powerless to address this. Bring on the sale of the Waltons building and fingers crossed the new owner is someone with vision who actually cares.
I've always enjoyed the walk down Brunswick Street Mall. The smells and sounds of Fortitude Valley are always set to whatever particular time of the day or night it is. But it's usually different. Early morning can see a few sleeping legends that have lost their way, perhaps too many bar hops, perhaps victim to the homeless and current housing crisis, but that is what gives this mall character. Bars, Booze, Babes with Crime, Chaos and Crazyness! Thats part of the Life of this street. Brisbane has a powerful heartbeat. 24/7
A vibrant, culturally diverse space close to the heart of the city. Watch junkies stumble through their days battling inner demons while sinking your teeth into a delicious hot kebab. Observe drug deals in vacant doorways as exotic scented notes of takeaway curry waft harmoniously up your nostrils. Marvel at the natural beauty of homeless people sleeping lazily at noon in soiled sleeping bags like giant urban widgety grubs. This place should be right up there at the top of your places to go when visiting Brisbane
I came home drunk one night, easily the most intoxicated i'd ever been. I walked into the living room and pushed the TV to the back of the table. Instead of the couch I sat down where the TV used to be and stared at the couch silently, alone, and in the pitch black darkness for at least 30 seconds before saying out loud, "So this is what it's like to be a TV." I realised then I'd had way too much and went to bed before I hurt myself.
It's one of the most happening locations around. It has everything to offer from retail to corporate, from residential towers to hotels, bars, disco, dance, night clubs, music, entertainment & fun everywhere all around. It has many food joints and restaurants. It is located in the valley with uphill and downhill roads, beautiful scenery, and awesome weather. You will find luxury car brand showrooms nearby. This location is awesome.
Warner Street Side also can be Marketed with Business Advertisements either to rent or Display Vacancies as Such. Much Potential Exists. If Opened for Business as Last Trains go, the inner Laneway could be back to the says I known it booming. Except for to identify the right Business that takes on. Maybe a Music Studio, Just a thought hey...... The theatre is on the Mall but Prac also covers if occupied within the Laneway Bridge.
The Only roof with a 360view of Brisbane City. I highly recommend this place for events. We recently had a birthday here and we had best service. Booking was very simple. Thanks Ariana for going above and beyond with helping us celebrate a birthday over the last weekend. The cabanas are a great entertainment spot for groups of 10 or more. Love it. Best sunset views, friendly staff and best spicy margaritas in town.
I love the mall, it's got great cafes, bars, fast food, convenience stores & easy access to train station from variety of entrances. Fast food outlets from Maccas, kfc to Philippines, African, indian. Halal butchers, bakeries, Woolworths, pharmacy everything here if you wander. At night time, bass beats from multitude of club spaces. Definitely worth exploring.
It's pretty sketchy at the best of times, at it's worst it's an absolute toilet. Best to avoid if you can. Poor selection of food choices at dubious quality. McWhirters has a disappointing variety of retailers as well. Some pretty dodgy individuals frequent the area as well so be aware of your personal safety and belongings.
Great pubs. Clothes shopping. Cheap second hand shops. Maquirters center has food court & inside valley center plaza..The Mall is Considered Bris Vegas's Rock n Roll Hall of fame. The stars of all the great self made Brissie bands line the top of the mall. To the rotunda. Police Beat for justice.
Is okay for food, drinks and nightlife, many options, including the Thai Wi-Rat in it's latest location. Some dodgy characters seem to frequent this mall. The busiest period, from midnight to dawn, is not for the faint hearted. Nor is catching a taxi from here in the early hours..
Until the redevelopment is completed, it is a very dismal place at times. It needs things brought in that will draw people during the day, not only just at night. The growth in population surrounding the Valley, is proof that those changes need to be done now, not later.
A dive that is expensive. Most of the shops go broke due to high rents. Free entertaintment normally good which is diverse. Lots of security cameras which doesnt prevent fights fom drunken patrons at top of mall. Best time to visit is through the day.
Chinatown next door has nicer places to sit. There are way too many convenience stores. McDonalds is 24/7 but often messes up orders and the food is almost never freshly cooked (there is good bakery in that building however). The laneways are nice.
You can pretty much guarantee you'll be asked for one of the following when passing through here: Money or cigarettes. Home to a selection of colourful characters, as well as fast food outlets, drinking venues, entertainment areas and clubs.
It's the valley mall not a lot to say about it. The council does a pretty good job of keeping on top of the cleanliness. You never know what odd character or feral person you might run into.
Personally I don't like it ever since they put the mall in the valley's lost it character. During the day its OK. Nighttime the herd animals come to graze. Still a few old timers around
Haven't been inside the mall as wasnt sure where the ramo access is since I had my baby with me in the stroller. Visited outside eateries and saw a local performance which was good
Good variety of restaurants, bars and clubs located here. This street is jam packed on Friday and Saturday evenings. It's open till late night on Fridays and Saturdays.
If one needs a new suitcase this is the place to look at the moment and also a great range of handbags on sale at greatly reduced prices. No, I didn't buy one, lol!
Nice street to walk down. No cars allowed so you can take your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere, restaurants, bars and the festival at the time of your visit.
I do love Brunswick Street mall, just needs a little more of a pick me up to match the new vibe. Great job by the top end bars!!! They are a look fantastic!!!
Great tp walk amd browse . There even is a Seven Eleven amd McDonalds, Rpyal George Hotel cmrs Ann and Brunswick, not far of a walk or drive to Stpry Bridge.
I’m very disappointed not my cup of tea it’s good for the yuppies for the other people too much through food outlets not Variety of stores people go to city
An artistic expression on a normally boring council electrical power box that brightens up the mall! It also features the work of a local Brisbane artist!
It is becoming a shanty town. Only go there to connect a bus or train to get to work. Dirty, most the shops are empty and closing down. Disgusting
Hi there well the mall will. Rise from the ashes slowly I believe greater than ever after all it is Fortitude valley we love it cheers John …
You'll never feel more ashamed than you will walking drunk around here at 5am trying to meet a girl when everyone already gone home.
Dead as a door nail , in the day time , even on the weekend, maybe after this virus has gone away it could pick up . Hopefully
Some venues closed, not many people about, apart from a few food delivery guys on bikes, a handful of Police. Quiet evening.
Brunswick Stew continues to undergo transformations over the years and only gets better. Loving it! Keep up the great work.
It's OK. At night I feel safe, plenty of police around. Heaps of food places and places to get a drink and listen to music.
OK, but not great. There appears to be a lot of empty tenancies now so the only reason I go here is for the train station.
Free wifi is readily available. But n but, quality of connection is poor. Abundant of dine out places. Go for it peoples
Brunswick Street mall has been renovated and is looking better but I still had problems with homeless asking for money
Not bad now , you used to trip over homeless people sleeping everywhere but now it's cleaner and better than before
Just a small mall in Fortitude valley area. Nothing special. The vibe was a bit off when we went there for visit.
Shame about the smell of unine and the so called homeless and the over run of bikes from uber eats and foodora
A lot have businesses have closed on this Mall. Lots of empty shops. Only a few pubs and nightclubs are left.
It's good to go around during the day and night here. There are many restaurants where you can eat and drink
Pretty quiet during the day with a few shops and places to eat. It's the night time when things get loud.
I walk through the mall twice a day at least and there are always rather interesting people in the mall.
Very good but ordering the McDonald's rewards meal and coffee was a pain. Vest Friends was a delight!
Good variety of eateries. A tidy, safe area when we visited early evening. Nice enough surroundings.

Good pubs and clubs..... RGs is always good for breakfast and lunch even dinner …
It's a decent mall. Not much to do here really, it's n more of a thoroughfare than anything.
very beautiful place. not full of people or very large but lively. gives a 'high-end vibe'.
A good place to hang out some great bites drinks are a bit exy but expected at the valley
So much to see and do, the valley wildlife very exotic a bit later in the evening/week ;)
Brisbane's Valley Precinct lives here. The place to go for meals and drinks with friends.
It's not the same. No atmosphere or character anymore. Feels sterile and basically empty
Great for a relaxing walk, amazing selection of cafes with good coffee and food choices.
Watch out for the drunks on a weekend, not for the faint of heart. Quite nice of a day.
Very expensive shopping & no where to take refuge from the heat. Wasn't very impressed.
Rock n roll Hall of fame of Brisbane bands. Royal George pub & Ricks cafe. After shows
Full of adventure, and you'll never starve with all the different eateries and hotels.
Has been updated a bit. Still needs some modernising and a better range of stores etc
Still quite a lot of construction going on but is always clean and has places to sit
If you want action, here it is! Plenty of music, happy people and a variety of food.
New look ,new shop its good to see lots of changes after along time its amazing.
has been improving over time , well look better when all improvements completed
Always looks like it is on life support. Empty shops. At least kebabs are good
Affordable and various kinds of Korean foods including unlimited table BBQ.
Not a fan of the Brunswick Mall.... I don't feel very safe there at nights.
Be safe there all bit scarey there I care and love all girls be safe there
Wonderful place for opening up a new shop, many options for your outlet.
Today is quiet, no crowd at all. I have all the time to slowly walk thru
Cute area to walk around but it’s true that it’s a little bit deserted
Go there, Friday, Saturday, n get fkkkkd uppp! ❤ …
Always loved this place. It has the best of Brisbane shopping
So tired and run down looking. Just such a sad, sad mall.
It's a beautiful place to do shopping and get entertained
Great for people watching. Weekends and nights the best
Great place to be. Day or night. Plenty of atmosphere.
Modern, mixed and quirky shops and food stalls to see.
I enjoy the mall at night with the lights it is magic
Great place to watch a cop tackle a innocent teenager
So many awesome shops and food places to choose from
Pretty good experience, lots of choice for food.
Great to sit and soak up the atmosphere
Love the area lived here for 9 years.
Lots of different food shops
Amazing lively and engaging
