I have visited Build-It Gold Reef 3 or more times from the time new owners took over, initially I thought they were fitting-in and knowing old and new clients, in my last 2 visits, I have experienced a lacklustre customer service, very detached attitude towards clients. In any business, Client is king. Build it Ormonde has served the community mainly on loyalty the previous owners built over the years, sadly this is fading away. During my visit, the shop keeper/owner had zero patience when a floor staff was explaining the product to me, the young man couldn’t wait for his shop assistant to finish talking to me before he could allocate him some other tasks. I found this invasive and disturbing. I was looking for small wood products and realised that I could do my project with timber extracted from pallets. I asked the old man over the counter for 4 disused pallets that were laying outside – I paid a whooping R120 per pallet! I actually realised when I checked the invoice a day after, in conversations with shop assistant a price of R40 to R60 per pallet was quoted and I didn’t pay too much attention and paid the unfair price of R120 per unit. Rule of thumb, build customer loyalty, good customer service and don’t be in a hurry to make a quick buck on unsuspecting clients, Selling a useless pallet at R120 is a damn bad business practice!! See the invoice on the image, can you justify this price, R120 per pallet? I wouldn’t be surprised if stuff that fall on the promotional items are sold on floor prices. There are many hardware shops within the radius of 6km – and clients have choices! Wake up!

When I wanted to return goods the elderly muslim male was not happy. He ran of to call Naeem. Naeem did not exchange the goods as well. I had all my receipts. Not a friendly place to shop at.
