Remarkably, this campground is free (although you are required to book via National Parks and pay a booking fee). Campground is flat and in most parts grassy. There are two drop toilets, otherwise self sufficient camping. There is an easy flat walk to a waterfall and glow worms (there are a few walking tracks around the campground). The entrance to the waterfall and glow worms is towards the western side at the north of the campground (left hand side of the loop road) whereby you have to cross a small creek crossing (with logs) and you will see a sign regarding the 45min return walk. We took this walk during the day and again at night. The glow worms (at the end of the track where the waterfall is) was an amazing site and a highlight of our stay. Bring a chair and enjoy. The drive to the campground (there are two entrances) is sign posted 4WD only although we did see 2WDs (not that I would particularly want to be driving a 2WD into the campground via Tabaraga Ridge). Whilst there are signs posted for fires only in the fire pits, people have created their own fires at many spots directly in the campground, with some people choosing to attempt to burn bottles and rubbish without success and have left the remnants behind - which is a real shame given the beauty of this spot (fortunately, this was not a feature we saw alot of). The Covid Safety Plan noted that the campground can cater for 160 visitors (not sure if that would mean all campers as well) given there are many people that seemed to drive to the campground for a visit. Overall, a great weekend not far from Sydney.

Burralow Creek campground and picnic area is nestled beside Burralow Creek, in the Lower Grose Valley area of Blue Mountains National Park. Set up camp on the grass, surrounded by native scribbly gums and a natural sandstone amphitheatre. This peaceful spot is popular with families and groups of friends looking for a remote bush escape close to Sydney. There's plenty of space for the kids to roam free. From your tent, take an easy bushwalk past a convict-dug pit, along the creek and through a small rainforest gully to Bulcamatta Falls. The nearby Burralow peat swamps provide habitat for the nationally endangered giant dragonfly in summer, and keen birdwatchers should keep an eye out for the rare glossy black cockatoo. Cook up a barbecue feast for dinner and see if you can spot the nightlife, including swamp wallabies, sugar gliders, brushtail and ringtail possums, and several species of owl. Then settle in and watch the night sky fill with stars.

A good "middle of nowhere " feel, as the site is buried in the unfashionable end of the Blue Mountains National Park, reached by 8km of off-road track from near Bilpin on the Bells Line O'Road. Facilities comprise 2 long-drop non-flush toilets, some rusty fire pits and barbecues. That's it. Bring everything else, especially potable water. There are no walking tracks as such, other than a few hundred metres to an admittedly lovely creek and waterfall. Longer walks along the fire trails will take you to Kurrajong Heights and/or Bowen Mountain. No cafes at Bowen Mountain, just houses. Be warned, the initial sign up the Burralow Track just says Kurrajong Heights. Naturally, after a few kilometres, you are presented with a fork in the road, with no indication as to where they lead. The Burralow Track actually leads to Bowen Mountain, not KH. I've alerted the NPWS and hopefully they'll amend. It's a lively spot for an experience of the Australian bush: goannas, birds, forest. Relaxation is the objective here, and the campfire will assist.

Another warning - the road here is only suitable for cars with decent clearance, and probably only a 4x4 if it's been raining. We went in a RAV4 which has decent clearance and anything less I think would have been disastrous as the pot holes were huge. I misread the website thinking only one of the roads were fire trails as Google maps only named one of them , but the unnamed road on Google is also a firetrail - Patterson Range I believe it's called. Camp site is okay - basic drop toilet and not much else - the " Barbecue facilities" listed in the national Park website aren't usable really. Nice big area though with some big trees for shade for some sites. Decent site if you just want to chill out there for the day. With such a long and dodgy drive to the site down the fire trail you wouldn't want to just go out for a short walk or something! Waterfall was also disappointing , with barely a trickle.

Beautiful spot for a few days camping. Lots of space, and it was great being able to have a fire. Two toilets which were clean and nice walk to the waterfall. Downside of a free campground 2 hours from Sydney is it can become a weekend party ground. The first night of our stay we had a very loud and rowdy group playing music until 3am and then they started again at 7am. They thankfully didn’t stay the entire weekend and it was a much more chilled vibe the Saturday night. On the second day coming back to the site we were stopped by a park ranger on road who advised us that road was 4x4 access only. We were in a 2WD SUV but there wasn’t much he could do given we were already camped. He said had it been wet recently we may have got stuck on the steep hill coming back out which is clay. NSW website says ‘4x4 recommended’. This could made clearer

lovely camp site or just a days getaway ... nice walk to the waterfall. We parked and set up 'kitchen' and headed off to find that waterfall! It was worth it on a hot day, cooled off under the waterfall and nearby rock shelves..We past an ant hill listening to birds and nature. Other visitors and a carvedstone sleep out possibly by convicts. Crossed the new bridge and cooked up bacon, eggs, sausages on brioche buns with BBQ sauce. Could have slept off lunch but it was a day trip. Nissan Xtrail easily negotiated the fire trail back up the hill to Kurrajong Heights.Lovely day

We took our VW Van (low clearance, 2WD) down the pattersons range trail and it handled it fine. Most of the path is just a dirt track until near the end where it becomes quite steep and winds sharply. But we were fine, i guess if it rained heavily we would have had a problem but even then its not that bad. Just make sure you dont take the other route because apparently its much harder and you defo need 4WD. Lovely campsite, super peaceful. Unfortunately the waterfall was dry but it was a nice walk through the gum forest to get there. Would defo recommend and do not worry about the track

Absolutely love this campground. There's a nice bushwalk to go on to see a small waterfall and some lovely scenery along the way. This is one of our favourite campsites for a quick weekend away in the Sydney area. It's not usually overcrowded and there are drop toilets that are kept relatively clean. It's also got a fair few fireplaces around the campgrounds which is nice in winter. Access is through a fire trail so 4wd is recommended but I've seen two wheel drive vehicles camping as well.

Fantastic spot for camping & exploring, close to Sydney with easy access to campsite. Very well maintained campsite. Toilets on site, bring your own wood if you wish to use provided fire pit. Only thing I would note is one section of pathway towards waterfall has outgrown over the walking track and that can be scary as we did come across the snake so be aware, hopefully park ranges can improve that little section to make more safe

Relatively accessible and large campground, has firepits and a few dug out toilets. Nearby bushwalks too, albeit short. The track in (from either direction) doesn't require something with some ground clearance, but it's much more comfortable having some. People do get in with sedans. Even on holidays it doesn't getting massively busy, so good as a last resort, albeit a bit boring. Nestled between the hills, it's somewhat scenic though.

Relaxing environment,perfect for weekend runaway from technology and work. Access to the camp is through a rough road and is not ideal for normal cars.recommend a 4wd car especially when it is rainy. It has a bushwalking track which takes 45mins return,perfect for a bit of walk. Visiting the Small waterfall at the end of the bushwalking track is a must. Drop toilet is provided but being enough toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Very tidy campground and convenient location and easily accessible from both direction. This campground is very spacious and is relatively flat. There are a number of walking tracks from this camp ground that are easy grade which is great if you have kids. The walk to Bulcamatta Falls is an easy 45 minute walk from the camp ground. This camp ground is a good camp ground for anyone looking last minute camping trip.

Nice and ideal place for 1-2 day trip. Plenty of tree shades and firepits are literatelly everywhere. The camp ground is flat and big enough so that kids can enjoy cyclying and running around. 20 mins of easy bush walk to the waterfall and our 4 year old enjoied it. My family sedan managed the trip without any issue on the dry and sunny day, so I guess I dont have to spend a fortune to upgrade to a 4wd yet.

Beautiful nature, nice air and singing birds all day,,off road is my fun part like you riding a boat up n down sideways coming down the cliff,going back home use Fair Rail road it's closer and less cliff, reception 75% on and off sometimes using internet. Love to go back there but not on raining day. Happy new year everyone.

I agree with everyone here that the 4X4 track is an easy one. It’s a hidden gem near Sydeny. A relax & spacious camp. Kids will definitely love it. The Mountain View is amazing.... Just pick a couple of pies from Pies on the Sky Roadhouse at Bills Line of Rd in your way. By the way, toilet is also available. Enjoy!

Great camping ground for family picnic, day trip or overnight camping which is only an hour away from Hills district. The Bulcanatta Falls is a 25 minute walk from camping grounds and it is so nice to cool down or take a shower under the waterfall. In terms of facilities, it only has two drop toilets.

Easy access to the campground down the valley ideally suited for a 4wd due to some rocky areas. Drop toilets. No showers or water. Clean and spacious with few others so privacy assured- at least when we were there. We tented it. Close to suburbia. Good for a technology free simple weekend.

Great weekend getaway in the tent or camper. Close to Richmond NSW. 4wd access track and level camping area with longdrop toilets. Most bbq plates are old so bring your own. And bring your own firewood as you are in a NATIONAL PARK and also take your rubbish home with you when you leave. ☺

Went there for the second time recently. Seems like there is some investment going into the camp ground, which is good to see. Hopefully though, they don't block off the sites entirely with the sandstone blocks. That will make it useless for trailers.. Will wait and see I guess...

Decent open space for a good day trip. Wouldn't stay overnight as lots of bugs and noisy neighbours. Road in was horrible. Even though recently graded, the erosion control swales are so high that you scrape every time. Do not come unless you are in a 4wd with high clearance!

Fantastic for doing some intermediate, dirt driving, awesome to have it always open (for the most part unless Rangers shut it; often unnecessarily). An exquisite detour off, and back onto, Bells Line of Road. Makes me feel lucky to live in Australia.

Great place to get away. The road in is well graded. There’s a good distance between each site so you’re not too close to the neighbour. Will return.

Beautiful 4WD camp-site near Sydney. The National Parks team has done a great job making the area cared for but not over developed so plenty of natural charm. The walk to Bulcamatta Falls is pretty only 2.7km there and back.

Stayed here a week, beautiful location. Very open and flat with 2 well maintained toilets. Open area so solar gets a good lot of sun. Short walk to a beautiful little waterfall. Everyone takes good care of this campground.

Nice little dirt track into this camp site from either end - 4WD advisable. Basic pit toilets and fire rings. Short walk to Bulcamatta Falls and plenty of space for the kids to run around in. Gets busy!

Nice and cozy campground perfect for a long weekend away. 1 or 2 toilets and flat ground for setting up your site. Rangers are quite friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Definitely worth a visit.

Very nice and spacious campground. The way in is relatively long as it is full of putholes and some steep rocky descents/ascends. All in all a very nice spot to come back to more often

About the size of 3 football fields everyone can find some space to themselves. Steel fire pits are convenient. 45 minute round trip walk to the glow worm canyon (after dark only).

Great camping area very close to Sydney. Not much to do except relax and bush walk. You would be better taking a vehicle with slightly higher ground clearance eg SUV style.

Good for short stays as there isn't much there or to see. Can get Optus reception. I like that you can have a fire and there is drop toilets. Watch out for resident goannas

Amazing, very beautiful place. The campground itself is lovely, but I recommend you venture a bit further to the waterfall bushwalk as it is arguably the main attraction.

Lovely campsite especially on weekdays when no one is there. Come in from the Bells Line of Road from the Northern Side. Lets just say the track in is 'interesting.'

Stayed here over night we walked to the glow worm caves it was really awesome the kids loved it would recommend to anyone to come. Excellent for day trip aswell
