This Business takes advantage of their captive clientele, clearly price gouging because they’re the only food business in the hospital. Whilst visiting daily for a month with a very sick partner, I never felt “not ripped off”. Eg. Icy pole purchased for the patient $5.80 ($2.95 at 7/11). Two cooked tuna rolls (dry) plus a Lipton ice tea $14.20. At least the hot food is tasty, but the minimum serve, mostly rice, is almost $10 add $3 if you don’t want rice. Service is mostly sub par, except for when the bosses help in a rush. Usually the servers are busy chatting amongst themselves. On lady refuses to greet you and will offer look away until she’s ready to serve you. IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE HOSPITAL TO FIND A TENNANT FOR THE EMPTY SHOPS THAT DOES HEALTHY, TASTY AND AFFORDABLE.

Well the food is OK but the service by the bald gentleman at 7am on 16th December was abysmal. I am stuck in birth suite and hungry. My husband went for food so I had some options. I was sent one picture of muffins and then didn't hear from my husband again. He was being scolded by the Cafe attendant for taking a picture of muffins in a cabinet, telling my husband he needed permission to take a picture of a muffin in a cabinet! He wasn't taking pictures of any people or logos, he was simply providing me the most efficient way to choose some breakfast. What did this attendant think we would do with these photos? Use them in our sexy baking side hustle and call it Only Flans? Come on. 1 star because the muffin I told my husband not to buy on principle was edible. Have attached the illicit photo in question...

Food is fine. Customer service, not so much. Had the rudest experience today. A smart a$$ male server making rude and obnoxious comments to my elderly father bc he was taking his time to order. Someone needs to remind the servers, that the majority of their clientele, are family and friends; visiting very sick loved ones. The impatience and rudeness was not warranted or appreciated by me or my father, whilst visiting my very sick mother whom is fighting for her life in ICU. Think about where you are working and have some patience and respect. Especially to the elderly. It does not cost anything to be decent in the environment in which you work. Absolutely gobsmacked and disgusted.

Ground floor of the Austin Hospital in Heidelburg. Ive eaten here a few time and look forward to going back. There's a well managed hot beverage take out section, lots of vending ( probably for nights) then there's a couple of separate stations for different foods, again well managed as its possible to mixed foods from each station without going to different cashiers. Lines of the typical bain marees, however the offerings are exceptional for a quick serve cafe. Lots of veggie and other healthy food. I did notice they staff really pile on the serve sizes too. No wonder this place gets really busy. Staff are all upto speed also. Suggest that you look at the Adamo menu on their site, apart from being huge they also do catering.
I’ve been at the hospital for three weeks. My poor mum has complained to me that they are quite rude. I finally got to get my own coffee, asking for an extra hot strong latte like I always dozAlmost every second time they forget it’s extra hot. I ask for it to be re made extra hot as I can’t drink it for 30 minutes. The response I get for that? Eyes rolled, sniggering at the other staff member, and saying straight up, no I didn’t ask for that. This time I said isn’t the customer right? The response = ‘nah not really.’ Never experienced a cafe in Melbourne with such nasty and unprofessional staff.

Poorest customer service, all the way from the cafe at front to the food service at the back, literally every staff needs to learn to smile at the least. They need to stop treating their customers like they are doing charity, especially when they are paying quite decent prices for their food and drinks (and probably are often distressed themselves being sick or caring for a sick since it’s a hospital). Food is decent and coffee average.

Worst experience ever. Got served tomato and cheese french toast which tasted hard and dried like its been sitting under warmer for a long time. Served 2 tubs of breakfast (scrambled eggs, mushroom, tomato etc..) also looks to have been sitting under warmer for a while, it was cold asked to heat it up the waitress left in the microwave for over 20mins until Igot up and reminded her that we were still waiting for it. Whole experience tasted awful. NEVER going back!
I'm giving the cafe three stars for very nice food but I want to give five stars to the beautiful, kind, supportive, manager who's running the place like no other, I and my team love spending our breaks at the cafe she has good energy and always there to help even in the gift shop if it wasn't for her no one will go there , level 1 is full of life because of her, good job.

Love the food! Everyone on the food side is amazing. However the cafe side seems unbothered not so much on the bright side also if youre going to have the person making coffee maybe put someone on that knows and cares what they are doing not someone whos going to pour all the coffees from the same jug, boiling hot temperature and same milk (I ordered oat milk because I am lactose intolerant and now have a sore stomach) Thank you
Bought a couple of sandwiches and drinks from a clearly miserable young lady. Costs nothing to smile and offer a greeting. Bought salad sandwich which was stale, egg spinach sandwich was just ok. I specifically asked for a receipt and assumed it was placed in bag. Got back to car and no receipt. Overall very disappointing experience.

Honestly this place really need to find better staff especially the bold short guy he needs to go. He's arrogant, rude, disrespectful and knows nothing about customer service. If that's what the café thinks is management material while you guys really need to go back to the drawing board and work out what the criteria is for a manager.

Lovely service. I'm a regular customer, who looks forwards to coming in everyday and receiving amazing customer service from the manager, Vivian. She is always welcoming, has a bright smile on her face and when she interacts with customers she treats them with kindness. Great food, great staff and great coffees. Highly recommend this place.
Good if you want a coffee later in the day or early evening. Plenty of space and natural light. Staff were pleasant. Not sure about coffee and food as just had tea. Very quiet after 4 on the weekday.

Terrible service from the staff in the hot food section tonight. Two young ladies too busy gossiping to serve us - we had to ask them for service. They went straight back to chatting and also failed to serve someone in a wheelchair that was also waiting. No thanks, no smile, no apology. Very rude.
Very rude and cocky staffs, i paid for 2 sauces for my breaky, after i paid, she walked off without giving my sauce and trying to get a staff to ask what i paid for, then she comes back with a major issue of additude and gives me that look? What the hell did i do? Im just trying to get my sauce...
Food and coffee taste under average. All soft drinks no price list service? Oh, there is just only one place you can have food and drinks

Charging $1.80 for non dairy milk… in a hospital… clearly no moral compass in this business. Taking advantage of being the only cafe in the hospital. Says a lot about the owners..

Food was about on par with an average take away c hip shop. Service absolutely shocking. Agree with the other reviews. You can tell the positive reviews are bought generic reviews.

A huge improvement in products and service compared to 3 years ago. Good coffee and very well presented food, reasonably priced considered it's within the Austin hospital. Fast service clean and well maintained with plenty of seating.
Have just been discharged from hospital, food great, variety great, coffee the WORSE, had better coffee in petrol stations that push various button options.

Food isn't to bad, coffee is less than average, very pricey, and the customer service is absolutely disgusting. Unbelievable, and what makes it even worse, it's in a hospital.

First and last time.. serving staff great.. but the lady with loose long dark hair being flipped all about not wearing a hair net h at the her self in .. the hot food then proceeding to the coffee section no gloves a turn off ..
the manager with the black hair is so positive and amazing never a dull moment in the shop with her. she makes me feel so warm and welcome everytime, she has a personality of a gem. god bless we need more of her in the world.
Apalling service to begin with, then received the equivalent of half a slice of fruit toast, the crust as well - for the prime price of $3!! Was barely warmed, not even toasted. In the Harold Stokes Bldg kiosk. Disgraceful!!
Great service with great healthy food and coffee option of breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have been there lots time when visiting Mercy Women Hospital, whenever I am hungry, always Cafe Adamo is my choice for healthy food.
Staff were great but , possibly the owner or the manager? The older balding man with bad breath, in the shirt was rude and had terrible service skills which with a mediocar coffee just left a bad taste on my mouth
Shocking customer service and mediocre food for a hospital cafe, should never have been privatised. Just a few mins walk to burgandy st are some great options either that or BYO don't give them a cent
Price of water is beyond belief . It's a captive clientele, water should be half the price and prices should be on display. Hospital should have refill stations, only one to be seen and not working.
Rude staff, unhealthy food, utter disregard of environmental practices - they put food in plastic containers even for dine-in customers and even if you ask them not to …

Love the coffee and the service,
Portions are small and expensive! Got bacon egg and cheese english muffin for breakfast. Added 50c for half a slice of cheese! Wow seriously? This is what you call stingy!!
Need to stop using so much pepper In your food and have cheaper options to buy, very pricey. Would love to see your staff members smile and be friendly to the public.
One of the best in-hospital cafe in Melbourne. Foods are absolutely amazing within a reasonable price range. Highly recommend the lamb with vegetable and fries.
