I would highly advise against choosing CEX if in the market for a secondhand phone. I’m now on my second faulty XR, which I paid £400 for. They claim the phones are checked thoroughly, the first one had a screen problem which rendered it virtually unusable. So clearly not checked with any care and attention. On taking it back to the shop it transpires that repairs are done off site, meaning it could take two weeks to be fixed. Opted for a replacement phone, and now am unable to set up Face ID which seems to be an issue related with the front camera. So again, obviously not checked properly. I recognise there is a small risk with buying secondhand technology but for £400 I would expect some amount of reassurance, and for the phones to be properly checked as they claim. If I could go back in time I would never have chosen CEX and I advise anyone in the market for a secondhand phone to avoid this company entirely.
STAY WELL AWAY IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR TIME WASTED. I found out the hard way their incompetent staff do not check over what they're selling and have no idea what customer service is. Earlier today I bought a 64gb phone, but when plugged in at home I found out they had actually sold me a 16gb phone for the price of 64gb. Returned hours later only for them to try and sell me 32gb thinking that was the 64gb version. Still no apology. Then I'm told they can't process any refunds because their system is down, so I should walk to tottenham court road and find their other store to sort it out (who didn't have any either), so I was then sent up to the Camden branch who luckily had the only staff members who seemed to care and actually the first ones of the day who offered me an apology. I finally have the correct phone I originally paid for 5 and a half hours ago..Hopefully.
Do you want cheap games? Don't mind picking using second tech? This place is a must for any high street. I always get my smartphone from here and never have had a problem. The majority of their stock is acquired from people coming in and selling their tech, like a pawn shop but only for DVDs and technology. This means you can pick up some really reasonable pieces for a really reasonable price. Also, it is a good place to find older games or older tech that may do the job your looking for very well, not forcing you to have to get the very latest (and expensive) items. Like I said, they buy your old technology, movies and games. So why not rummage through your old, unwanted things and exchange them! Out the money towards that new tablet you like it that new game....
After my first visit I gave them 5 stars. I visited this branch 2 more times since then and not going anymore. Staff changed, unfortunately for worse. Especially today, I was selling some brand new earbuds, case and accessories still originally sealed etc, but they were accepted as a grade B, because THERE WAS A GLUE STAIN FROM THE PRICE TAG ON THE BOX. In any other branch nothing like this ever happened, I sold new devices in opened or even slightly damaged boxes but they were always accepted as grade A. Explanation from the staff was that it supposed to be mint condition to qualify for grade A - interesting since they always have to break all the seals and packaging in order to test the device that they're buying.
Staff ain't really friendly, is like you are invisible or at the wrong place. I bought a Sony Xperia 5 for my wife from there and I wanted to make sure it was A condition, zero scratches, the lady refuses to give it to me to check until I made payment...after I insisted, she came around the till and stood right in front of me ( I guess just in case I decided to run ) ? Very very hostile a uncomfortable situation, I've been shopping with CEX many years , have membership card , buying and selling. This was the worse experience ever .
A great place to get video games, consoles, DVD's, tablets and mobile phones for a cheaper rate than retail stores. Also one of the few remaining places in London where you can purchase a wide variety of video games. You can also trade in your own games or consoles here. It helps if you have (or create an account) with CEX as this will provide you with the benefit of trading things in for store credit or Cash. The staff are very helpful and friendly here.
The 2 girls serving were useless, they both stared straight at me but didn't bother to try and serve me. They ignored me for about 10 minutes whilst I was at the front of the queue until a guy came over and let me buy the item I wanted. The best part though was when another customer came in 2 minutes after and they served him straight away. Poor customer service, please train your staff to not be so ignorant. Thank you
My favourite CEX branch in London. Staff there very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. I have been going to this store for a very long time and I have always received excellent customer service and if there's issue with my item that I purchased from them I can always take it back and get issues solved with no problems even it means get the manager involved the issue is always resolved.
First time visit with a colleague who wanted to buy a used PS4 which he did. Whilst inside did look around which looked impressive as i thought i can come by to exchange my games etc. Only downside is becareful of the surrounding i saw alot of homeless people coming in for a little cash voucher in exchange of the gadget, phone etc. One of them was harassing me to take his £20 voucher and give £20 cash!
Took 30 minutes for them to get the specs of the laptop which are on the box and the store didn't understand we just wanted a price and there was no need for a check to be done on the laptop until a price is agreed. The shop was also saying it was a grade A but didn't inform us it would be a grade A if we bought a charger and traded it in that way. Ended up leaving it and selling elsewhere.
Store was very calm and I was left to browse uninterrupted. It's more spacious than initial appearance suggests because there is a basement level. Found just what I wanted (plus an impulse buy!) at a great price. Service at the till was fast, efficient, and notably friendly; enjoyed a really nice chat with the staff. I like the whole CEX business idea and this store really impressed.
This Cex has magically stood the test of time after all of its years in operation, however the store is clear to be falling apart slowly, especially downstairs. However you can still find alot of retro hidden gems and items you may not expect to find at really good prices (most of the time). Its worth a look but it really is dependant whether you looking for retro items or not.
These guys are awesome, if you're looking for your fix of games and most things electronic then stop by this particular store and if you're a fan of retro gaming then again COME TO THIS STORE! super friendly staff (very good air conditioning so that's a plus point) and in general just a very nice vibe that your current interests and child hood memories are well catered for.
The Rathbone Place Computer Exchange still sports the classic sign on the shop front and takes me back to my high school days when I used to waste countless afternoons loitering in there just in the presence of technology and games. The staff here are great. The range of deals is amazing and the music and vibe are fantastic. Much love to all the people behind the counter.
It has gone down in the last few years but it's still the best game trading shop in the high street. A tighter shelf display or even an online catalogue would do wonders for the shop. Also, could someone give the staff an ABBA CD so at least some melodies will blast from the speakers of the shop? The racket they play is unbelievable.
This store is great! They sell new and old tech alike and is a great place to find cheap games and even cds, which with the rise of digital downloads has made finding incredibaly hard on the high street. I have personally sold many of my old peices of tech and have found the staff a Cex to be very freindly and i got a great price
Been using CEX since the late nineties. Professional service every time, whether it be technology., entertainment, phones etc. I can't fault them. Also great warranties and warranty period on every product, never had an issue if there was anything wrong ! They also do repair services for certain products, phone ahead to confirm!
Really friendly and amenable staff at this branch. When I arrived one staff member was helping an older customer find game recommendations for a young family member, asking them about their interests. When I bought a game, they took time to show me the state of the disk, and re-cleaned it to show its integrity. Really nice guys.
Helpful staff. Totalled up my trade in and asked me to come back in 30 minutes while they tested a device. Staff member who processed the transaction and set up a bank transfer for me was very slow. I gave all my details and then waited 20 minutes for him put it through. A lot of hand flapping later and it was done.
One of the better CeX stores I've been to. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. For buying products, they've a good selection - but if you want to sell their trade in prices aren't great unless you need the cash/voucher quickly. One of the stores I'll stick to visiting as and when I'm in London.
I think this is one of the best CEX stores I've been to. The staff are really friendly and know there jobs well. They usually have a really good selection of dvds, games, Tech to choose from. Always seem to find a bargain in here would definitely recommend this store you should visit:)
I purchased a MacBook Pro and it didn’t do what I was told it would , so I exchanged it for another on there web , this one turned up locked to “sky ltd “ and couldn’t be used , The customer service I’ve received is a joke it’s so bad I would not recommend this company to anyone now
The staff are ignorant morons. They were too busy talking amongst themselves, looking at screens, or mess around with equipment. No one even looked up to see I was queuing. I put the games I wanted down and left and wont ever be coming back. Absolutely terrible pit of a shop.
If you don't want to spend a fortune this is the place you can buy refurbished ipads, laptop, phone and alot of other electronic devices. All products come with a warranty and are previously serviced. You can also exchange one of your devices for another or for cash!
Why do I alway feel diddled after walking away from this Branch. FIFA16 bought last night. Got home to find the hand-book for the game missing. No big deal, but Christ, you could have been honest and said you didn’t have a copy, when I was at the counter. No stars.
Avoid this shop if you want to sell something. This is franchise and they want to save as much as possible. Brought them new phone case and even if they advertising TRADE IN EVERYTHING. I HAVE NEEN REFUSED. not the first bad management issue with vex managment
Friendly and helpful staff, shop not cluttered and much as I remember it from twenty odd years ago. Best cex store by miles, in my experience all of the staff actually know what they are talking about as well, a nice and depressingly surprising little bonus.
Good place to exchange electronics. They gave me good value just before Christmas for an Xbox one and an old iwatch. The voucher trade in is great value if you’re looking to buy an electronic item and they give 24 months warranty on what you buy from them.
The best cex in London to visit. I had a lot of old pc hardware, and this branch tests a lot of legacy equipment. Also the staff are really good as this is one one flag ship shops for the company. Also one of the branch managers Charlie is really helpful.
This is the best cex store. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and they always have good items in stock it's great if you are looking for games, movies or a new console, just be careful not to get confused with the other store by Goodge street.
Store staff refused to sell me a product after claiming it was broken and needed to go for repair. 1 minute after another staff member claimed that the product was a bargain and they wanted it. They clearly lied to my face for there own self gain.
Certainly a very good place to visit if you are planning to buy a used device. Has good options on display and also has good offers. Has plenty of Apple devices so if ur planning to buy an iPhone to visit their website once and check the price.
Cex is ok for second hand dvds, especially if you are prepared to travel a distance to the branch that has your choice. However, their pricing policy appears very inconsistent; I bought series 1 to 3 of Gomorrah which cost me £ 6.... very
Been going to CEX Rathbone place since it first opened . There is less stuff then the bigger stores but they do tend to get stuff in better condition than the normal high street stores. Well Worth a look if your visiting the west end.
Great staff and prices as usual. Went in about 15 mins before closing, showed them something I saw online that said was in stock, they let me have a quick look at it and I was happy so bought it. As usual always a good experience!
Can't phone the store so one star, also it looks like the stairs have never been swept, there are bits and pieces on the floor, I won't be surprised if someone breaks their neck going down them. Staff seem bored and unresponsive.
I bought Red dead redemtion 1 for the Xbox 360, and when I came home instead of the game I bought, they put red redemtion 2 xbox one disc in instead!!!! How unprofessional is that?! I recieved the wrong game!!!
This is a decent shop to sell and buy electronics fore a cheaper retail price. I have recently sold my iPod in this store, which allowed my to look forward to buying there products as I had gotten money for it.
I've been coming here since 1999 it's always nice to revisit this store. I come time to time to purchase retro games only thing I dislike is how they renovated downstairs it takes away that nostalgia feeling.
Amazing Place Everyone is very friendly and Helpful Carina is extra special!! Thank you for making my experience worthwhile. I will definitely recommend Thanks
Been here a couple of times looking for cheap DVDs with multilanguaje. I always take two or three home from this shop. The selection of PC games is also good, but usually I prefer having them in steam.
Poor quality second hand items. Particular reference/experience to phones. It comes with a guarantee but it’s not worth anything. The repair workmanship may as well be done by the unskilled homeless.
Very slow service been to many CEX's around the country told to come back within a hour and a half for testing goods. Then came back at the time, then had to wait another half an hour poor service
Most the staff are unnecessarily rude, It drives away customers. The loud guy is not representing the business well. I don't expect much from CeX but even this is shockingly low customer service.
Good selection of games and you can even sell (or trade) those games you don't want anymore; you can check the prices online which is a good way to see if you are getting a good price as well.
Usual CEX experience really. Bunch of staff chatting loudly amongst themselves. Got a decent PSP game for a quid, but never feel good about myself after going in these places.
Amazing prices and warranty and a great product range. Add the wonderful, friendly, personal service and there's no better shop to buy your games, DVDs and tech then this CeX
I’ve completed two drop and go online orders, the process was nice and easy. They accepted all my items and I received the payment promptly, the staff is friendly in store :)
The guys here really know their tech stuff. The purchase price for some items is a little too low and their online inventory isn't always up-to-date but service is good.
Great store. They take care ensuring all products are graded correctly and I always find a great deal. Trade in prices are low but its a buisness at the end of the day
Fairly reasonable value for money overall, however some items can be purchased cheaper online elsewhere. Easy to trade in which can make buying other items cheaper.
Thinking of selling old phones and electronic devices well this is a good place for them. Offers on items are reasonable paid directly to your account. Thanks Cex.
Some of the things they sell are way overpriced, you can get it cheaper brand new. But they offer 2 year warranty which is good. A few bargains if you get lucky
I like this store and most staff is helpful. Not so visible though if you're coming for the first time - took me 30 mins walking around the block to find them.
Really lovely shop inside all the second hand items that you can find. Lots of games and all tech item dvd inclusive that you can find. Advise for a visit.
Good store concept but I’ve never been to one where the staff was not a disaster in efficiency. Id you want to sell or buy, just know it will take a while.
Nice selection of second hand games and electronics. We had a problem with a product bought here and there was no issue and we were given a quick refund
Been around for ages, still has some good retro games for sale plus a good selection of 2nd hand electrical equipment, especially mobile phones.
Friendly stuff, transparent service. They gave me a good quote on some stuff i sold. Totally need to pop up and get some more games.
FAST AND RELIABLE Give them one watch which was evaluated as type A. Took a mobile from them which is still working after 2-3 years.
Really good customer service, normal prices and nice store design. I will definitely go there next time i visit London!
I love CEX. My favourite shop. It just works. But games cheap, play them, sell the back and buy more. Just makes sense.
Good ol’reliable CeX. You will never get rich selling your stuff here, but it’s much safer and reliable than Gumtree
Always love going to CEX, loads of bargains to be had & I know my son loves it too, especially for the PS games!
Wow! It is fabulous and environmentally friendly and it is very many need those things. This CeX is safe shop.
Very rude and don't care about customer service. No bye or hello. Clearly not happy to be working there.
I love to stop by here everytime I come to London. Used to be regular customer at Goodge street branch
I got the wrong Game. I bought Red dead redemtion 1 for the xbox 360 instead of red dead redemption 2.
How hard could it possibly be to put the correct opening times on here and not waste people's time?
Best place ever if you want movies, games, consoles, home accessories like an Alexa or smart bulbs
The first CeX store! It has a wide range of PS4 PS5 games at good second half prices! …
Unfortunately they are selling damaged electronics and they don’t replace them! I just lost 150£
I always enjoy a visit to a CEX & tend to search for the 50p Blu Ray movies. Friendly staff.
Excellent service, very polite staff and great selection of video game hardware & software
Amazing how many video games have they even got in their store
Really helpful staff and shop well stocked
It's a good cex just to small
Great assortment of games.
Very good shop
