Where shall i begin? So I had never gotten myself hair color before however i and my family always go here for the haircut which is great and the only reason why im giving 2 stars here. Anyway i had called and told them how it'd be my very first time getting one so book me with someone who's experienced with balayage and coloring. But apparently that didnt go as planned. They booked me with someone with no experience in coloring. The lady first said it'd cost you around 160 dollar and i was surprised wow thats a great price for foul highlights which she suggested so i said sure if thats what it would look good on me as it was my consultation day. But when i was booked i did some research and thought of going for balayage anyway since i wanted some blended look and so i told her. She started doing the foil technique which i was surprised and i even asked is this balayage? because i had done some research too obviously. She said yes, the lady was nice with a great personality but not so great with coloring. I saw her toning me with 7 to 8 bottles and i was confused at that very moment anyway i had spent 6 to 7 hr there and they costed me 247 dollar but it certainly did not look like balayage. The front hair were only bleached and the back was different color. I was not satisfied but i was scared what if they ruin it more and i had to rush home but i had to call them for correction which i really liked their policy. As i went there, this different person was correcting me and said it looks nothing like balayage, i was surprised that even she said that and she had re-bleach my hair again and i got scared because i knew my hair would be fried, i spent another 5 to 6 hr there. My hair was so fragile that even the brushing was hurting me so bad. However i somehow achieved what i wanted again "somehow" But heres the twist, after day or two i took shower and had all the color drain out infront of me. And after just one wash i lost all the color. Now im stucked with just a bleach color and im scared to get anyone touch my hair. My hairs been falling a lot and are extremely sensitive. So chatters Please dont do this to anyone, my only humble request. I changed my color for the first time ever and only because i had to travel outside of canada and attend some events so i thought why not right? But now i look like a disaster. I wish i could undo everything. Its 247 dollar right in the drain. And unfortunately i wouldn't recommend anyone going at this location for a hair color. *UPDATE* After the comment posted by the chatters, i thought why not get in touch with them. So i decided to call them and i was told right away that they cannot do anything about it however they will charge me for color correction. So because of that now i have to give 1 star only.

Went to see Nima after a friend indication, had a short copper hair faded to strawberry blonde and only wanted a root retouch and copper applied to the length. First he sat with me and we talked colours, I showed him photos of the colour I wanted and he said “trust me”. So other staff approached him and I noticed they were gossiping about me as the other staff kept staring. Already felt uncomfortable because of that. Then he brought in the dye and as he applied to my hair I saw orange tones and was feeling confident. The work was splotchy at best, at a point I had dye running into my eye and Nima was nowhere to be found to give me a towel to clean up. I decided to grab whatever by myself before the worst happened. He came back and washed my hair, barely touching my scalp which left me with dye still on my scalp and bothering me. Then he asks me if I like the colour, it looked like iodine red and I thought “it’s wet, it won’t be like that dry” and I told him I’d wait until it was dry. He did a blowout which gave me too much volume that he said he’d fix with the flat iron. He only applied the flat iron to my hair tips and not all over so I had a bunch of parts full of frizz. Even though I told him about it, he ignored as he seemed mostly concerned about other staff constantly coming to him to chat. After it was dry, he fixed my hair on the back of my neck, that part went well. But the colour was nowhere close to what I wanted, the splotchy work left parts that never got covered and some other with heavy colour deposits. Totally stained. I thought it would fade after washing but two days later and a ton of washes and it’s still iodine red and not copper. Don’t get me wrong, Nima seems like a nice guy but the work was very mediocre and the gossip and chatting instead of paying attention to clients is a no. Not coming back.

I booked an appointment for my daughter (7 yrs old)and I over the phone. I informed them that my daughter has thick curly hair and I have fine curly hair. They said okay and booked us an appointment for the following day. I arrived to our appointment and the person at the cash (manager) informed me to sit and wait until the hair stylist is done with her customer. She also told me the price for our hair type. We sat down and waited for 30-35 minutes. The manager then informs me that the stylist is not comfortable with “our hair type” and that they won’t be able to do our hair. Mind you, they booked us an appointment knowing “our hair texture” and made us wait for over 30 minutes. They told me in-front of my daughter that they are not comfortable with our hair- “textured hair”in front of other customers. They offered no alternatives.. They were extremely rude and racist. IF YOU HAVE TEXTURED HAIR DON’T GO THERE - they will tell you they are not comfortable in handling your hair. I will never step my feet in that store. Go somewhere where they will appreciate you as a customer. They don’t even deserve the 1 star I gave them. I had no choice in selecting that as otherwise it will not let me post.

I was really excited to see a Chatters open in Barrhaven this year. Unfortunately, on two separate occasions, I was sold bottles of shampoo and conditioner that were obviously used, or very old. The first bottle was almost half empty when I brought it home. The second bottle, an expensive deep conditioner which was sold to me and taken off the shelf by the manager a week later, was also used and had a thick, dry skin across the top. I returned both on the same day and expressed my dissatisfaction with having been sold products that had either been used or were just old. The two staff members would not apologize for the inconvenience and took forever to refund me. As well, my sister went there a few weeks ago for a blowout. The blowout took 2.5 hours and looked horrible- huge waste of money. I believe she has taken this up with them directly. I can’t speak for other Chatters locations but if I were you, I would spare yourself the frustration and poor customer service and avoid the Barrhaven store. Very disappointing. Added side note: if I wanted to buy used/tampered beauty products, I’d go to Winners where they at least give you a fair discount to make up for it.

I really liked my stylist, but I finally had to give up and take my business elsewhere. I tried to have patience due to the challenges of Covid, but three times in a row they were unable to keep to my pre-booked appointment time. First time I was called to come in a different day because they had double booked my slot, and then when I arrived for the new time, they didn't have record of my re-booked appointment. My appointment then felt rushed and there was no time for styling. Second time, I got a call asking me to come in earlier in the day, which I was only able to do because I had the day off work. Third time, they call two hours before the appointment saying they were too busy and could I come in another day. None of the new times suited due to the busy holiday season. It's too bad, but I need to be able to reliably book an appointment time and have it honoured - we're all busy!

Absolutely terrible experience with my 6 year old hair cut. I had a terrible experience at Chatters Barrhaven location. I booked an appointment for my 6 years old son for back to school hair cut and mentioned on the phone that my kiddo would prefer no clippers. I get a text message on the day of the haircut asking me to come early and I do do. We walk in and the stylist barely says one word to my son. When I mentioned that my son does not like clippers, he gets annoyed and starts making all these faces. My son was crying throughout the haircut and the stylist did not say one kind thing to my kiddo. When I mention this to the front desk staff, they inform me that the stylist is not very good with kids under 9 years old?!?! (I have all this exchange in text messages from Chatters). Parents - Do NOT take your kids here unless you want a horrible experience.

Worst experience of my life. I have long poorly coloured blonde hair and I finally made an appointment to treat myself and get fixed up! I made an appointment online because I work long hours and it’s fast and easy but I didn’t book one that was long enough apparently for what I needed done and they told me that’s the problem with online booking.. they also said they have other clients to do in the day so not enough for me.. so am I not a client??? so they offered to do half of my head or send me to another location. I did not want half my head done so I ended up leaving they didn’t even offer to reschedule me. Literally the rudest people ever. Never going back to chatters, rather spend more money.

I went to Mary for an extension tightening. While I was there she noticed that a row was beyond saving and said that she would just redo it. She didn't tell me that there would be a charge for this row. To make it worse, she had to Google how to do it in front of me. 2 weeks later, throw Has Fallen out. I had an appointment for her to fix it free of charge, and when I get there she says that it's a different row completely. I know what Roshe did and what real fell out. She wanted to charge me again. Went to the manager, the manager said that they're charging me for a row that fell out due to a stylist error. I am absolutely disgusted completely appalled and I walked right out and will not be back.

No heat protectant used. Hair rough and crispy to touch depsite no regular use of heat. Could not brush through with fingers. Burnt with hairdryer. Curl all done to the same side. New hair stylist that did her best granted. Spent alot of time with bobby pins when I just wanted it blow dried with a bit of a curl and not straight straight. Still charged me for long hair even though it took 45mins. Site clearly indicates that shorter hair is 45mins and long hair is 1hr 15mins. Its a simple wash and dry thats typically taken only 30mins in the past thats left my hair smooth. Left with a rats nest that left me scrambling to fix. Will not be returning any time soon.

My hair dresser used to work here and she went on Mat Leave. So I was bold even to book with someone else since I knew she had great skills it was only evident that Chatters Barrhaven must have great expectations. I personally have a lot of anxiety with communicating a look I’m going for. I was booked in with NIMA whom has over 20 years experience. He knew exactly how to execute my wish list. On my initial visit with him he made sure that my look reflected the length I wanted to keep. I have thick and long hair. He blended the layers. It came out perfect! I have visited Nima for my past 4 cuts and will continue to be going by forward.

Just okay for boys. Recommended for girls. Went with 3 of my kids (2 boys and a girl) recently for haircuts. Tried to book online, but it said everything was full for the next few days. Called and was able to get an appointment for the next day. Showed up to a mostly empty and a not busy salon. Our stylist was really plesant and the kids liked her. My daughter's cut was excellent, but the boys' cuts were average. Including tip, we were at $85. Pricey by any standard for kid's cuts. Nothing negative to say, just that everything was 'okay - average' for boys. Will take the boys elsewhere for future cuts but would bring my daughter back.

This Salon is offering a 50% off hair color deal on Tuesdays. So, my friend and I, both made appointments for the coming Tuesday. This Thursday they called and claimed there was an emergency with the stylist so they would need to move our appointments to another day. However, they claimed they would honour the 50% off deal, regardless of the day we would reschedule for. The following day we were to call back and book a new appointment. This morning we called to do so. No appointment could be made because nothing would be available in the time slot we needed for some weeks to come. Waste of time. Thanks for nothing.

Nima is a wonderful stylist. He’s highly respectful and ready to be of service. You can tell that he has developed excellent muscle memory from the speed of his movements. During the hour, Nima followed my lead in being more quiet as well as being more social. A few days after the haircut, I noticed a lateral unevenness and mentioned it to Brittany, who works for Customer Care. She promptly helped me book a complimentary appointment, for which I was highly grateful. Top notch customer service, as rated by someone who worked in customer service for years. I highly recommend booking with Nima.

This was my first time at Chatters for a hair cut. I saw Nima who was absolutely wonderful. He was great to chat with while he was working. I am new to Ottawa so he was sharing some of his favourite restaurants to check out and also provided some advice on a new product. The only thing I wasn’t super keen on, which isn’t specific to Nima— when paying, the tip is charged on your total invoice, not just the service, so because I purchased product, my 15% tip ended up being almost 50% of the cost of my haircut. I wish that they were invoiced separately. Anyways! I will be back for sure!

I did not have a good experience, I have gone few times and everytime it is not good service. My hairdresser Nicole, never said hello to me, just started washing my hair and when I told her the length for the haircut she said she would do it and never did. Told me I showed her the wrong picture for the hair style I wanted and started styling my hair before asking me if I liked anything. She started curling my hair and I asked when she was going to do my curtain bangs and she got mad me because I didn't tell her I wanted it on both side of my face.... Do not go here.

I really appreciate his efforts and making me leave really happy with the hair cut I got and leaving a perfect nice volume on my hair. Highly recommend him .

I called and made an appointment 3 days in advance and they called me 45 minutes before heading out to tell me that the hairstylist isn’t available and couldn’t take me that day it was ok for another day. I had an important event to attend and you have to call me 45 minutes before going out to tell me: not today but what about another day. Well, you are losing a customer and will asked my family and friends not to come to this hair salon. Terrible service! Thanks for nothing!

Nima did an amazing job with my long curly hair today!! If you are looking for a professional hair stylist Nima is your guy. Best hair cut and style I’ve gotten in a very long time, I’ll definitely be going to see him again. July 2023 update: I always see Nima for my hair cuts, he is amazing at what he does! He listens to what I want and makes suggestions to improve the look. 100% suggest booking your next haircut with Nima, you’ll love the experience!

I went in not sure what to expect as my other hairdresser at the usual place I go, ruined my hair and I was so upset as I did not get anything I was supposed to get. I called Chatters and explained what was wrong, they set me up with an appointment and in I went. Aleesha was Amazing!! Explaind everything to me as she went along and never once did I feel that this was not going to work. When I left, I was beyond satisfied and will be back for sure!!

Huge disappointment! I just spent half an hour waiting for appointment at 4:30 to only be serviced at 5:00 by the most unprofessional, lazy, hairdresser Lucia! As I explain what I wanted she laughed out loud, and refused to service me without up selling treatments. She also said my hair was not short (above shoulder length) and it would take a long time. (A hair dresser who does not want to spend the time doing her job). Do not go to this place!

5/5 experience with the hairstylist named Nima. He is my go to guy! I always have a vision of how I want my hair to turn out, and Nima achieves my expectations ALL the time. There are people who are good at their job.. and then there’s people like Nima, a true professional. He’s an expert with anything you ask. Picasso with his colors, and Edward Scissorhands with his cutting. 100% recommend him, you won’t be disappointed.

Gotta love Aleesha I showed her a reference picture she did exactly what I wanted and it looks stunning. I was worried at first since I’ve never had bangs and no reviews about bangs where posted. But in half an hour she cut my split ends and did my bangs. I have never been more pleased with a hair cut so if your worried about butchered bangs don’t stress. Not to mention her amazing customer service, I’m 100% coming back

Quite unfortunate! Brand new location, three associates working, and not one ounce of help. I’ve moved away for work and was visiting the area stores as Barrhaven has expanded immensely since my husband and I have moved away. Such a phenomenal haircut experience with Nima! He is so good at giving you what you want while being considerate of what would work for your hair. I’ve been looking for a new stylist, and I’ll definitely be back again! I was told this was the best haircut I’ve gotten when i got home. Really appreciated him going step-by-step to make sure I liked it all, and that there were no surprises at the end.

Very nice and new store but I didnt love the service. I was the last haircut of the day and although the hair dresser was very nice it felt like she rushed through my cut and I was in and out of there in under 30 minutes. I feel like if you're going to charge for a 45 minute session you should at least give me that time. It was the fastest hair cut I've ever received at any chartters locations

I told him I wanted to keep growing my hair out, so if he could keep what was healthy of the length and then just kinda do whatever he wanted (cut-wise). I have not felt this confident in a while and really left the salon excited and feeling beautiful. GO SEE NIMA!!

First time going here and i will not be going back. I did not like how i booked my appointment at 10 for a reason, and was told i had to wait for maybe a good while. When my appointment for my hair should have already started. Disappointing. And there was no apology or anything knowing i had to be somewhere at a certain time. In my opinion it wasn’t very fair or nice.

Took my son to get his haircut for the first time on Tuesday and the stylist was so patient with us. He screamed and twisted around and she took the time to wait while he had his moments and got him to calm down so that she could fix my mistake. Highly recommend. Even allowed him to sit on my lap while she cut his hair. Thank you for giving him his first haircut.

I got a hair cut from Nima and absolutely love it - I said “this haircut makes me feel like a rich lady” . It was a feat because I have really thick, straight and long hair but Nima was a pro, making my large mass of hair shapely and beautiful. My 7 y/o also got a really great ‘Wednesday’ haircut with Marta. Overall a wonderful experience! Highly recommend.

Stylist was difficult to deal with - I asked for my bangs to be trimmed and he said they were fine. He ended up going rogue on my whole head giving me a completely different cut than what I'd asked for and left my bangs completely untouched. I asked for a trim of about 1 inch and he took 5+ inches off. It's been a few days and the shock still hasn't worn off.

I would not recommend going there. The front staff is very rude. No customer service. I booked an appointment as I am getting married and the girl booked the wrong date. She then tells me that they can see me later but I was getting married at that time. She was very rude and seemed not to care. There is only 1 stylest half the time, need more staff.

Friendly staffs but didn't give the right result. Tried to deal to get a better solution but no reply. Disappointed! UPDATE: They dyed my hair SILVER but it came out green somehow. And after 1 month, it faded the same as the picture I attached below. I did send them a lot of emails but they didn't give me any solution. Worst service I have ever met.

I had a hair cut and blowdry service by Nima. I feel so fortunate to have been taken such great care of. I felt like a million dollars leaving the salon. Booked a consultation with Waheeda for a hair style. I honestly didn’t have to say too much when she started looking at my hair, she knew exactly what to do, which is what I wanted!! Happy with my highlights. Was my first visit to Chatters, they were recommended to me by my barber for highlights. Waheeda did a great job choosing the right shade of blonde for me, nothing too flashy as I was hoping. She also made sure I was okay with every decision being made. Highly recommend Chatters, as well as the work of Waheeda.

I went in today in seek of a product that would help my itchy irritated scalp, and both of the girls there were so sweet and helpful. They cared so much about helping me find the perfect product. Go to Amanda. I'm sure the others are good too, but Amanda's been doing my hair for years and if she changes salon's I go with her. They're lucky to have her on board! Listens to what you want and finds the best way to make it happen. She's great with colour and with any length or atyleatyle of hair; from edgy to classic.

The staff there is amazing and considerate. It’s a great team! Besides, I recommend to anyone who wants to get a nice haircut to look for Nima who is a super talented hairdresser. He is a really professional guy, super gentle, organized and very, very attentive to details. Every time I meet him there I have a great time.

Nima, Nima, nimaaaa.. he is my hair stylist since he started working at chatters, I love his work and the way he treat me as a customer, last time i called to book an appointment with him but I got surprised that he is not available and they don’t know when he will be back to work! Hopefully he will be back soon!!

The last few times I’ve been to Chatters, I’ve gotten my hair done by Nima. I’ve never left disappointed. He always knows exactly what I want done with my hair and executes it perfectly. Tried this Salon for the first time today! Went in to get my eyebrows and face done. They were very accommodating, fitting me in asap. They use wax only, not threading, but this was hands down the easiest and least painful wax I've ever gotten. Attention to detail was amazing! …

Val has always been creative, sensitive and personable to the needs of clients. I have watched her with others as well as myself and I would trust anyone in the capable hands of this phenomenal hairstylist. Make sure you go with an empty bladder because she will make you laugh!

Nima was an amazing stylist and barber who complied with my request that I'll leave everything up to him, no directions or specific hairstyle I wanted. And I was more than satisfied with the outcome, and how they handle the hair of their customers. I am definitely coming back.

Nima did and AMAZING Job. I showed him some inspo pictures and the result was 10x better than the inspo pictures. He’s truly an artist, mixing 4 different shades to get the exact color we were going for, the cut he did is so so good and he works really quick! Highly recommend.

I got my hair dyed August 17th. I was chemically burned so bad I had to be put on steroids and take 2 weeks off work. Now I'm having Topical Steroid Withdrawal because of all of this. My skin on my body could be permanently damaged. Please double check when making the dye.

First time visiting for hair products and had a very pleasant experience. The associate was very helpful with answering my questions and showing me where the products were located, as the have a huge selection. Also a lot of deals on products. Will definitely come back!

Had my first experience there this morning for a cut. Was my first hair cut in over 2yrs as I’ve been terrified to trust anyone with my hair. Loved my experience so much I booked an appt for a colour change and an appt for my daughter for a cut. Definitely recommend!!!

They trim my bungs. The job was done by lovely lady from South Africa. Took exactly one minute job. The price for trimming the bungs wasn’t displayed anywhere. It was disgusting to be charged $13.00 for that job. Thank you and keep the good work in the future.

Go see Nima!! This was my first time getting my hair professionally dyed, and Nima created exactly what I’ve always wanted! All I had to do was briefly explain my vision, and he granted it! He’s very good at what he does and extremely friendly. Very happy!

Went for a balayage but ended up with a harsh circle on my head. I called and got a redo to blend out the circle, which they did, but during the process one of my earrings got pulled until my ear bled and my sweater got destroyed with toner.

Nima is not only a great hair dresser that’s professional and talented but he is also such a friendly and personable individual. I don’t trust many people with my hair but with Nima I felt that I am in good hands. I highly recommend Nima!!

I absolutely love going here. Teresa has always been my go to, but I’ve been put with some other stylists and they’re all great!! The head massages are amazing as well. Great place to go to get your hair coloured or done in any way!

They treat people in very bad conditions. Example on the website it says that the cost is 30 $ but then when you go there they charge you more. I don’t recommend that hair salon at all. All they want is to charge more money.

Disappointing experience. Arrived early in the day to be seated in front of a dusty & dirty sink that was clogged with hair. Management needs to focus on effort into hygiene.

Did not like my hair cut at all. The stylist was very nice but my hair was not cut well. I feel bad writing this as I loved the stylist so nice but my cut was disappointing.

My son and I had appointments with Nima. He was wonderful and very attentive. I am extremely picky about my hair and he did a fabulous job. My son's hair looks great too

We have experience cutting our hair with Nima at Chatters located at Barrhaven. He does great. He is nice, professional, polite and passionate. Strongly recommended! :)
