My dad was part of the volunteers that organised the drill hall be moved from Sandgate to Chermside. It now houses memoribilia to Corporal John French of the 2/9th Battalion who was awarded the Victoria Cross in the battle for Milne Bay in World War II. It's another reminder of Australia's brave men who fought in Papua New Guinea. Lest we forget.
Chermside is developing very fast. It's important to preserve its historical heritage.
Meeting place for many local groups, but to most people it’s just a sign.
