Beautiful house and surroundings and well worth a visit, but I would advise everyone to not book this site for an event. The woman who we dealt with was rude and changed her mind about lots of things at the last minute after advising previously that everyhting was OK. She also told my sister she had to be packed up and gone, taking everything with her, during a storm at night, in 10 minutes time at the end of her wedding. This is of course after being told previously that we could tidy up at the end of the night and collect our things in the morning. Her son then tried to start a fight with us when we told them that this was insane and nearly impossible because of the weather conditions and lack of any lighting on the way out besides our cellphones. So all in all the site itself is beautiful and worth a visit as a tourist but avoid hosting events there.

A hidden Gem! We paid a small entry fee and we provided with a very informative tour about the many owners and changes to the property that have culminated to create this charming historical venue. I started to feel a bit old when I realised some of the kitchen ware and ornaments I have in my hope passed down through the generations. We settled in at the back of the house on the verandah for toasted sandwiches and scones and delightful lemon myrtle tea. Not sure how to make the perfect cheese and chicken toastie, but let me tell you, they do! You can book a high tea and after seeing what was in offer we will definitely be doing just that and going back once more. Just the perfect Sunday activity!

I have been to the high tea twice - both times were excellent but the first time was exceptional. A year ago the high tea used a lot of details that history buffs will love - they served the high tea on original vintage China and had beautiful vintage tableware (embroidered cloth napkins etc.). I also think that the food was a bit more traditional "olden times" . they now stopped most of the vintage ware but the whole atmosphere, sitting on the deck watching kangurus hop in the distance while sipping on your coffee makes it well worthwhile. All staff are fantastic too and so knowledgeable about the farmhouse.

beautiful heritage sight to visit with your partner or family. my partner and i didn’t book in but we were happy to just view and tour the home. entry for a visit was $12 each and so worth it! the man at the counter was lovely and gave us some history after our look around. we loved the downstairs cellar and was VERY eye opening into what life used to be like. doorways are very small - for 6ft+ people, we both struggled. watch your heads! it’s been rainy recently in QLD so the wet grass and trees honestly was breathtaking. lovely, lovely place to be and would love to go again soon.

I was so very impressed with our beautiful high tea today. I organised this for my friends baby shower and I can not fault this venue. The staff called me prior to ensure all dietary requirements were met & were so very accommodating. The staff were welcoming, friendly, professional & did everything to make our day beautiful. The food was delicious! Gorgeous little sandwiches and other savoury delights, and the decitant sweet treats. Thank you so much for a perfect day! We were certainly impressed and will be back again.

We spent a lovely afternoon at the historic homestead. Erin our guide was wonderful and so passionate about sharing the history. It was a wonderful memory. Thank you Erin and the team that volunteer and work here to keep this amazing place going. We didn't do the high teas but they did look yummy and we are planning to come back soon!

Lovely, quaint historical piece of Brisbane set at the rear of Wacol Correctional Centre. Had purchased high tea for four people, and the guy at the front entrance and another guy busy setting up for a concert were friendly and great to chat to. Grace, our waitress was flustered and slightly argumentative. Maybe she was having a bad day. Nonetheless the food was nice, and the four of us had a great afternoon.

A truely magnificent gem in the national trusts crown. It easy to get too (just don’t be put off driving past some of Queensland’s finest prisons). When you arrive you find a very well run and historic farm house with a superb cafe. You’ll be amazed how this small property was home to such large families. It’s fascinating to discover the hardships they had to endure and also the beauty of the surroundings.

Enjoyed a high tea and a tour of the farmhouse & grounds. Erin, our volunteer tour guide, was informative & passionate about the history of the house & grounds. Amazing to see history practically in out backyard. The high tea itself definitely set the scene in line with the rustic feel of the farmhouse.

A genuine hidden treasure. Although I'm not a fan of traditional English high-tea, the food and coffee is nice. The 'cafe' is run somewhat unconventionally to most nowadays, and felt more like morning tea at the rotary club. Regardless, the heritage building and grounds are incredibly interesting and beautiful. Also, the staff are friendly, sincere and courteous. Take your Grandma here!

  • Christian Fercher

We went there for a special breakfast on father's day. The atmosphere on the deck was quite relxing with some beautiful and delicious things served. You should definitely try the guided tour around the house. People there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Also, lots of wild roos around there which is nice to take visitors form overseas. Definitely would recommend going there.

Beautiful old stone house. Interesting piece of Brisbane history. Lots of birds and kangaroo around. The entire site is not very big, 1.5 - 2hrs max if you come here for the high tea as well. The high tea was fine, very basic. I wouldn’t call it high tea though, more like basic morning tea.

A great place to visit to better understand the early days of the Centenary suburbs and the lifestyle of the early pioneers of the area. The small cafe area also provides a great outlook over padocks towards the river where you can frequently see kangaroos in their natural habitat.

We had a Farmhouse tea with friends. Absolutely delicious and loads to eat. Also had veggie options. Our guide was a uni student volunteer, full of information and a captivating personality. The house and history are to bed recommended.

My wife and I took our mothers for lunch today, all had the platter. Great food, great service and friendly staff. Max on the reception desk sets the tone right from the start and the good vibes just keep going. Strolling around the old farmhouse was interesting and a nice way to finish the afternoon.

We ordered high-tea, using Groupon. They use organic tea from Byron Bay. We could try different tea, which was very generous. Staff were very friendly. We stayed there from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. I would recommend you to stay a bit late and enjoy the quiet afternoon. Very relaxing.

  • Irena 'Host to a Ghost'

I thoroughly recommend the Wolston House Ghost Tour experience to anyone who wishes to experience true paranormal in the safety of expert investigators. Thankyou National Trust Queensland for your tireless efforts in keeping this Colonial building in pristine condition.

One of Australia's most unique historic houses situated at one of the many bends in the Brisbane River. The National Trust has done a fantastic job of keeping this property true to its heritage as well as accessible, educational and fun.

Visited during Brisbane Open House 2016. It's very nice to look at, but the normal price of admission seems a little high, in my opinion. The staff are very friendly, though, and willing to tell you about the history of the place.

Went with my son's school as a parent helper and quite enjoyed myself. Going back in time and seeing how people back in the late 1800s early 1900s used to live was a real joy and eye opener.
