We were waiting for the bus to pick us up after a day of shopping in Chicago, we were to be picked up in front of station 98 I looked in the window and we were invited in by the firefighters and given a tour of the station, and treated like family. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that if you're ever on the area you stop by and visit these guys you will get to see and learn about one of the oldest stations in the city. They also sell REALLY COOL t shirts (I have one).

If I could give a negative star rating, I would. The Chicago Fire Department left us trapped in an elevator for over 45 minutes and proceeded to scold us and blame us after finally doing the bare minimum by opening the doors of the trapped elevator. They thought it was appropriate to criticize us for having the exact number of passengers labeled on the elevator system. Hateful, unhelpful and unprofessional.

The probably noisiest department in the US. I have never been in any other city where around the clock, the streets being completely deserted or not, in the middle of the night or not, the fire trucks are driving around with the siren on full blast all the time. Is that really necessary or you just having fun doing that and waking everyone up.
